Had to change the review to a 3 after 3 really bad take out experiences (chicken really dry, everything besides the maduros didn't taste like they used to). I believe they changed their green sauce recipe too! read more

The empanadas here are the bomb!!!! Authentic food, excellent staff and highly recommended.

Love the new location and food still tastes great! The staff is very attentive which i appreciate.

The Chaufa was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed every bit of it. My wife had the Lomo Saltado which I also tried and the steak was perfectly cooked, extremely juicy and still well done. I would recommend this place to everyone to try at least once. read more

Went on a Friday night and had a great time. Great service, food was delicious, and loved the live music.

Food is very good , service is very good. But you should know that they charge a fee per person if you bring your own birthday cake . This didn't seem fair given that our bill was significant for a large party. We spoke to the manager and he reduced the fee a bit, but didn't waive it completely. Overall a good meal and experience. read more

Great food! Great drinks.Overall would highly recommend.Less than ten tables in the restaurant . Peruvians were eating there so you can be sure it was authentic. read more

My favorite place to eat in Nyack! I always bring visiting family and friends from out of town to eat at Maura's. Never had a bad meal or service anything less than stellar! Highly recommended. read more

Great food, excellent drinks, good service, reasonable prices. What more can you ask for? Fish tacos fantastic!

We learned about this restaurant through Yelp it was easily found off the Thruway and happy we took a chance to get a table. It is small, quaint and clean. Service was polite and quick. The hospitality was warm and friendly. The dishes were authentic and the sangria was delicious. Reservations are recommended on weekends. read more

Tried for the first time ,food is ok but nothing to rave about. we had fish tacos, were the best I've had here in Rockland . Empanada were ok I've had better. Prices are high for amt of food you get. only thing I would go back for is the fish tacos. We also had ,guacamole, beef steak with rice n fries, and fish n shrimp ceviche. The staff was great n very friendly. read more

Superb service and food! Too bad we live in Long Island. Will definitely come again if in the area.

Twice my husband and I have tried to come here for lunch in the last 5 weeks. Both times the restaurant was due to open at noon and yet both times we arrived at noon only to find a dark restaurant with chairs on tables...nowhere near ready to open and feed people. I had read good reviews about the food here and we were excited to stop in for lunch while our kids were at camp. No such luck. Both times we found the staff of the place waiting around the back door for the owner to show up. Perhaps they should consider changing their hours or not opening for lunch if they can't show up. Very disappointing. read more

Maura's kitchen has moved from a shabby little corner joint to a new sleek, very chic location on Main St in Nyack. The food was so good it warranted the change. Now, this place is really jumping. Reservations are not easy to come by. The restaurant has a very hip vibe. A sparsely decorated room with a minimalist approach is the right canvas for their food. The food is well spiced and well prepared. We tried the steak with tomatoes and onions, the rice with seafood and empanadas. Topped it off with flan. All very good. The entrees all come with rice and potatoes. An odd combo but I think it is very Peruvian . This place was good enough to think about a return visit read more

Haven't had Peruvian in a while. This meal reminded me of how much I love it. Sweet hostess, nice water, great food. Got the civeche sampler, was awesome. Our group got 4 different meals, all excellent. Best meal we've had in a while. Highly recommended. read more

We loved eating at Maura's last night. The food was fresh, interesting and delicious, as were our drinks. Our lovely hostess Simone was as nice and as helpful as could be, and our waitress Jessica couldn't do enough for us. All in all, we loved being there. read more

As honest as I can be about food...this place is by far the best restaurant I have been to in Nyack. Not only do they make great food, but the atmosphere is awesome and the drinks are even better! The best drink on the menu is the Passionfruit Margarita (: Their only down fall is the fact that they are such a hot spot, that it can be very hard to get a table without early reservations and the bar is always jammed. It is best to go on a week night or book a reservation earlier in week for a weekend date! read more

This was my first time coming here and the experience was alright. The service was as good as it could be since the only waitress was waiting on maybe 8 tables at once and making drinks behind the bar for everyone. She had blonde hair and very nice! I give her major props for not cracking under all that pressure. My problem is with the kitchen. I ordered the tilapia, shrimp, and calamari dish. The fries and rice that came with it were delicious but the tilapia crusting was soggy because of the large amount of sauce put on top of it The calamari and shrimp was not breaded, not grilled, just simply cooked (possibly boiled?). Over all the dish was dissatisfying, had barely any taste, and would never order it again. I got my food to go only to throw it away on the walk back to my car after thinking "do I really want this?"... other than the food the cucumber sangria was very, very delicious. I'm sure I will return, just not for that tilapia! read more

I've been married for over 20 years and one of the perks of our relationship for me is the kitchen experience. You see my wife happens to be Peruvian and I'm her northern neighbor, from Ecuador who happened to meet in New York. The first time I ate dinner at her mom's house I knew that I now had found everything a man searches for or they knew that the way to a man's heart is through the belly. For me, there's no other cuisine quite like the Peruvian, with its diverse combinations of European, African, Asian and its indigenous roots. It's not to often that we go out to have Peruvian food and when we do we have a good experience in our favorites and discovering new ones. Recently I found out that there's a Peruvian restaurant in Nyack and invited my wife for an evening meal. To me, the menu look appetizing, my wife had a different take. So we placed our order, my wife asked for the pollo a la braza, which we were told they had a new machine that made the pollo magical! I ordered one of my fav, arroz chaufa with shrimp. Then the food was served, my wife looked at her dish and looked at me, I know that look. We both were very disappointed with the food. My dish had no hint of chaufa flavor, in fact it had a bit of a sweet taste and the shrimp was mediocre in taste. My wife's dish, aside from the pollo being cold in the inside.... we both didn't finish our food and just wanted to go home and have some time to unwind after this experience. If you want have delicious Peruvian food, I highly recommend Costanera in Montclair, it's a distance from Rockland country and you will not be disappointed. Good luck read more

First meal at the new location and it was as good if not better than original location. Ambience is different than the original but was ok. Our server Breean was excellent! Attentive and a pleasure to deal with. Overall enjoyed our visit. read more

I'm Chinese American and my whole family loves the food from Maura's kitchen. The food is very subtle and tasty. The chicken and pernil are so tender. The family is very kind and personable. I'm so glad they came to Nyack. read more

This place is amazing. The food is incredible and the restaurant is an undiscovered treasure in Nyack. The quality of food and drink is to be reckoned with. Their passion for the food is apparent in the attractive presentation of the dishes and is matched by the exquisite flavor in each and every bite. Highly recommended!!!! read more

Maura's is amazing; I recommend a visit. It's well-appointed and every step of the meal was delicious, including the most novel appetizer...slow-roasted fried Peruvian corn kernels... Service is friendly and location is good, too, easy walking to the middle of Nyack afterward. Check it out! read more

Never had Peruvian food before so my friend and I had lunch there. We ordered and shared the Maura's ceviche soup, yuca fries and the fish tacos...all were excellent. The ceviche was served hot and good. The fish tacos with the spicy guacamole and a nice aioli that was delish! Highly recommend this place. read more

YUM. Amazing, homemade food. Also had Peruvian drinks which were great. I really was impressed. Get the beef empanadas with their jalepeno sauce. read more

Excellent food. The scallop ceviche is amazing! Entrees equally so. Highly recommended! Maura is awesome.

We used them to cater our wedding two years ago. The food is delicious and we keep going back. The owners are very nice and they have a great assortment of Peruvian dishes. It is certainly worth stop by. read more

Food and service were excellent! Great place for friendly and casual dining. Highly recommend the ceviche.

Outstanding food and value. Haven't had a dish I don't like. All are awesome. Great prices.

Tonight we ate at Maura's for a family celebration....3 generations at the table. We were a little hesitant from the outside...don't let that stop you. The food and service exceeded our expectations! The ceviche and other tapas were off the chart. Our little guy ordered the chicken bites, but the adults were trying to grab them when he wasnt looking. Fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. Empanadas rocked, especially the veggie. Our server was delightful, attended to our needs, refilled drinks, and reviewed the specials multiple times as we were overwhelmed with so many fab choices. Wish we lived closer, but we'll be back!! read more

Yes, their food is amazing. You'll read tons of reviews on that if you go through this yelp page. But one very notable thing that I must mention is first, they have Cusquena beer, which is a true rarity in Rockland County and one of the best beers I've ever tasted. Second, they serve it ICE_COLD and when I say ICE_COLD I mean *ICE* freakking *COLD* and it's absolutely glorious. Their food is great but honestly, I go here for this amazing beer served the right way: ice cold. Thank you Maura's for having this beer and for knowing how to serve it. read more

My wife and I have been to the old place and the new one. It is very few and little are the times when a restaurant moves location and expands without lowering the quality of food or their atmosphere. Maura's food continues to be amazing and the new place is awesome. if I had anything negative to say is no parking. I felt like I was in the city going around blocks looking for parking, but it was worth it. read more

This was our first time. The food was good unfortunately the services was terrible. First, there were 4 of us, one of the waiters brought 3 glasses of water, after 5 min he brought the other one. Then another waitress instead of putting the utensils nicely, she threw them on the table turned around and left. Later my daughter asked the waitress for service in which the waitress answered "what do you want?" That is not a way to engage with patrons. My husband asked the waiter for more pink sauce and he told us to wait until he finished something. Again, not a manner to engage patrons. Two minutes later he was done and was on his phone until my husband asked him again for the pink sauce. There didn't seem to be a manager on he floor so the staff was slow and lacked good table service skills. By the way, the original waitress that took our order appeared once the entire evening as she was too busy on the other side of the restaurant serving the bar area. Why did we get her in the first place? read more

I recently went with my friends to eat at the bar and Nick was very friendly and sweet and knowledgeable and I had such a great time I definitely will be returning, such a sweet guy. read more

Having passed by the restaurant a few times since it opened my wife and I decided to give it a try last Saturday night. She had the mixed ceviche and I had the pescado a lo macho, a mildly spicy fried fish with a yellow sauce and French fried yuca. Absolutely delicious! The cost, about $32 plus tip for both. What a great find! read more

Excellent homemade peruvian food! Love the food, and customer service. I will go back!

What great food. I need a change from the ordinary and I found it . Super delisous . The spices rocked. Food very tender. Loved the different taste. You can tell owners put there heart into this place with quality of food and thier attitude. read more

We've been looking for great Peruvian food in the area. We were driving to Westchester and Jersey until we stumbled on Maura's. The place is small and clean. I had the seafood special (calamari, shrimp and tilapia in gravy, and a salad with their lime dressing. Excellent! My husband had beef chaufa. The spices were perfect but the beef was a bit overcooked. The empanadas were out of this world as we're their specialty cocktails - Margharita and Sour Smash. Yum! Very nice staff and pace. We'll definitely be back...a lot!!!! read more

Cute spot with good food from what I've tried thus far (Lomo Saltado). The beef was very tender and not over cooked like some restaurants tend to do. LOVED the beef empanadas as well! I liked that they were not stingy with the empanada filling like most places. Will certainly be a regular stop for me. read more
