This is the 2nd time I came back to Maui Bread Co. It is a cute little backers with wonderful friendly people there!! I bought some ube and guava butter, ube mochi, almond croissant and coconut coffee the first time I was there. They were all very delicious. I have to come back the 2nd time. This time I got there @ 7:15am just to make sure I'd be there early enough to try their pina colada and Lilikoi muffins. They were yummy! I just had the softest cookie ever from here and oh my goodness, it was so delicious. I had the macadamia nut cookie and you can really taste the flavor. We also got the ube butter mochi, it was really good as well but I don't really like the texture of mochi in general. I will be back to get goods to take back to SF. read more

I made a promise to myself that I would try as many places as possible this week in Maui, and that meant not returning to the same place no matter how good. Broke that promise. Whatevs... Look at the photos, come on! I've had six different things, sweet and savory, and every bite was soft and full of flavor. I especially loved the pesto goat cheese artichoke roll. Today I'm trying a guava loaf, something I'd never have in any other setting, and it is perfect. The iced coconut coffee is wonderful. Find it in the fridge. I might be back a third time. Maui Bread has become part of my daily routines. They have the best coffee, pastries, and bread in Maui. I highly recommend them.

My sister and I drove out to Kihei when I visited a client near the area and stopped in to this small shop. Everything is 100% natural handmade with no preservatives and made from scratch! Delicious! My family enjoyed all three of the items we brought home! You can taste each the coconut, mac nut, pineapple, and raisin flavors in the Hawaiian Bread! The shop also has hand made jellys and spreads. They also have gluten and organic cookies. The bakery attendant was friendly and helpful. She also let us know we can now order online! Good stuff here! read more

Not worth writing home about. We got three items and the only one that was worth sharing was the pineapple bread. The coconut macadamia cookie was dry and had a strange texture. I was warmly greeted when I walked in and offered samples of mochi, juice and coffee. They had 3 choices of muffins, I chose the "Hawaiian" with pineapple coconut and macadamia nuts, sooo good!! Super delicious bakery goods and service with a smile. We tried the beef brisket manapua, which was cooked to succulent perfection and topped with sea salt and a bit of black sesame. Highly recommended. We also ordered the ham and pineapple twist, and it was quite good. We also ordered some delicious sliced white bread, fresh baked and buttery. We've been to Maui Bread at least four times on our trip so far. It's a nice boutique bakery setup in the shopping center across from Kam 1. We particularly enjoyed the Hawaiian muffin, ginger snap cookies, and the banana & Hawaiian bread. They sell out early of some things, like before noon early. My only complaint is they have a weird dating system on things like the cookies, you didn't know if you were buying something baked today or 3 days ago. read more

We loved Maui Bread Company so much! Grabbed Sunday breakfast the last day our vacation. So many delicious things: their soft pretzel-like breakfast roll sandwiches were great, as was our coconut pineapple muffin: huge, soft, wonderful. Grabbed some great jellies and crack sauce for souvenirs. Loved the wonderful vibe and environment, as one of the owners greeted longtime local customers personally and we chatted deeply about their Amazing bread and the history of their master baker and opening the shop. Tried a few of their buns and they were just ok. I still recommend the liliko'i lemon mochi if you're looking for something to try here. Like that the POG juice isn't too sweet either but everything else I've tried wasn't too memorable except for the mochi. read more

Wonderful service! I walked in and was greeted with friendliness and Anne (Ann?) was very helpful in picking out the perfect type of bread for a breakfast. She was patient in explaining each baked good that you could tell she loves her work. I noticed that she sounded like she might be Taiwanese and reminded me very fondly of my favorite aunt and so I had to ask if she was Taiwanese. Like me, she came to the US as a child and it was great being able to bond with someone! The set up of the shop is like any other Asian bakery and the bread itself is amazing. I'm currently munching on the artichoke pesto bread sitting in front of the ocean and I'm very happy. Wonderful family owned bakery. Please go if you're ever in Maui! read more

I stopped by here earlier today with my wife for breakfast. We weren't planning on coming here but as we were sitting nearby having a coffee we starters looking at yelp reviews and thought that this place looked amazing. Outside the door they have a chalkboard with a special and a note proclaiming that its baked fresh daily. One you get inside all of their wares are on display for you to see with the cookies off to the right and then the baked goods off to the left. Man are those baked goods super enticing. I can't say that I was too hungry on this morning but all of the good looking treats did a good job of sucking me in. I started off by ordering a cheesy jalapeño roll while my wife went with a stick with pesto, sun dried tomato and artichoke on it. Then we looked at the pina colada pastry and decided to split that before I also ordered a Portuguese sausage roll. Ugh all of that without even being hungry. After paying for it my wife and I went outside to sit at one of their tables to eat. I started off with half of the pina colada roll. It was sweet and had a nice flavor to it, especially whenever you made it into the middle of the roll. After that I ate the jalepeno and cheddar roll. There was a ridiculous amount of cheese on it which tasted great and when combined with the slight spiciness from the jalepenos was delicious. At that point I was getting pretty stuffed but still wanted to try a bit of my wife's roll and still had the Portuguese sausage. So what did I do? I carried on of course and tried some of my wife's roll. The pesto had a good savory flavor and I would probably have been happy getting that alone. Last but not least was the Portuguese sausage which could have been a meal in itself. It was wrapped in a good amount of bread which had a sweet flavor to it. That contrasted perfectly with the slightly spicy and savory sausage. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. As a matter of a fact my wife and I plan on stopping in tomorrow in order to get some food for our drive to Hana. read more

It's been a little over a month since I left Maui and I still miss Maui Bread Company!! I was delighted to find this place! Being German and used to a large variety of breads and rolls, it was such a treat to find this special place in paradise! The owners shared their story with me when there was a brief moment of lesser crowds, and I understand the oven for all the German breads as well as the master baker are 'imported' from Germany to ensure the quality of the products. Simply fantastic!! I also shared some of the Hawaiian breads with friends who all loved them and we were all so impressed by the gluten-free options that were absolutely delicious as well. Truly delicious! We picked up a multigrain loaf a few days ago, and it is still fresh! There is a slight sweetness, and the inner bread is an appetizing yellow, rather than the bleached white of some store brands. When toasted, the bread retains its soft, moist, almost cake-like texture, but with a crispy outer layer. Very yummy on its own or with a favorite spread. The staff member was congenial, and was prompt and polite when asked questions and then completing the sale. There were a variety of baked breads, including buns, cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, sandwich rolls, etc. The prices are about $6/loaf, which isn't crazy, considering regular prices for store-bought bread is about $4-$5. I am truly happy to have a local bakery in Kihei. Yes, we have other bakery shops, but they appear to specialize in sweets and pies. It's just ok to be honest but in their defense I am from LA and there are so many good pastries back home. Almond croissant was pretty good though. What I didn't like honestly was how one of the workers practically chased us outside because my daughter accidentally grabbed someone else's pastry bag when she was grabbing what we purchased. I stumbled upon this place in search of an orange blossom muffin. This place used to make them, but has now turned into a German bakery with some Hawaiian flavors. What a treat! The kids loved the pretzels, ham and pineapple rolls, bacon and cheese roll, and the Hawaiian muffins. If you have a hankering for a fresh loaf of bread or sweet treat, the quality in the baked goods is worth the visit. When I first stepped into this shop, my mind immediately flashed to the bake shops in Hong Kong and Macau. From the style of the bread to the way it's set up and of course the sweet, tempting aroma all took me back. Grab a tray when you walk in, then start loading it up with breads, cookies and pastries. The sizes are perfect to share and small enough to try several with a group. Don't be shy about tasting samples, you might be surprised and find a new favorite! The staff has always been very friendly, willing to answer questions and share their history. They have the same owner as Maui Fish & Chips and Maui Teriyaki. The young gal shared with me that the owner's intention was to blend asian style baking with european. And they did a great job of it! It's a touch sweet with a chewy interior. So far I've tried the energy bread with nuts and cranberries which is fantastic. I also enjoyed the focaccia with veggie toppings, another with a pesto topping, and the bread pudding which they said was a top seller. I'm so excited to have this great, locally owned shop just down the street from me. I certainly recommend stopping in to get some of their delicious baked goods.
