We waited a week to stop by here due to the holiday clousures. The owners and staff are really friendly. They also have gluten free options. A lot of gluten free options which are really good. We also grabbed bread and cookies for kids. The entire family was happy. Their banana bread is the best we tried (regular and gluten free) in Maui including the ones we tried on the road to hana. I LOVE this place !!! Let me start by saying every time i go to Maui Bread the service is so great! When I walk in I'm greeted right away and whoever is working that day is sure to answer any questions or offer samples. I love their fresh fruit juices I forget what the one is called but it's so so good and I'm not a coconut fan but my husband loves the coconut coffee. I got to Maui Bread Company at 6:50 on a Tuesday and I was the second person there. I followed reviews and got the following: guava bread, lilikoi bun, and ube bar. The guava bread is one of the best breads I've ever had. I had to stop myself from eating it all that first day so I could eat more the next day. The lilikoi bun was just ok; the bun part was slightly sweat but the lilikoi jam on top was tart. Even my husband that likes sour items couldn't eat it all. The ube bar is ok. It's not a very strong flavor and I thought it was a bit dry. I will return but only for the guava bread loaf. read more

Maui Bread is my favorite bread shop on Maui. Whenever I'm on the south side, whether for work or play, I always make the time to stop by to grab a few goodies. There's so many reasons why I love Maui Bread. First off, I just want to point out that they don't only serve bread. Let me warn you, when you first walk in, you'll be a bit overwhelmed by how much variety and selection of goodies there is. (I was, anyway.) I call it goodies, because everything that I tried so far was good. They have a variety of manapuas, filled breads, croissants, loaves, mochi, brownies, freshly squeezed POG (passion orange guava juice), coconut water, coffee, and a lot of other savory as well as sweet baked goodies. (Too long to list, you just have to stop by and see for yourself.) Another reason I love Maui bread is that you're supporting a local business and everything is made fresh every morning, made with lots of ALOHA by their very friendly, hardworking bakers. (And whatever they don't sell at the end of the day, they donate to local churches that give food to people in need.) They also, have a variety of gluten free breads and other goodies. They even provide a few samples you can try, if you are undecided on what to get. Personally my favorites are the ham, egg, and cheese manapua, sweet potato mochi, artichoke pesto twist, ham & pineapple twist, guava rolls, and their freshly squeezed POG juice. They are conveniently located at the Dolphin Plaza, right across of Kamaole I beach park. (It's the perfect place to stop by to grab some snacks before heading to the beach.) To sum up my review. It's "pricey" (But what is NOT so in Maui?) and, what the hey, you're on vacation! Right? Picked up some muffins, bread, and croissants for breakfast and snacks Christmas morning. Loved the Hawaiian muffins so good. Had pineapple and coconut. The muffins were really light and fluffy. Chocolate croissants were pretty good. If you are in Kihei you should definitely stop by here to pick up some goodies. read more

Cute quiet bakery with a different assortment of baked goods not usually found in Maui. I noticed a significant amount of gluten free offerings so that's good for true celiacs. I tried samples of their pineapple bread. I didn't taste much pineapple so I settled on the passion fruit orange guava bread. It was moist, light however the flavor of any of the 3 fruits was seriously lacking. It tasted like a sweet moist cake but with no discernible flavor. I was disappointed. All their other products looked tasty but I'm unsure of how it would do flavor wise. read more

Ube Mochi! I've never had anything like it and it was sooo good! Plus, I bought it closer to the end of the day, so despite it not being freshly fresh, it was still so good! It's almost like a Mochi ube brownie with just a hint of crisp top layer and chewy inside. Mmm I can only imagine what a warm fresh one tastes like. Drool! I also opted for the Hawaiian bread per the worker's recommendation. It has pineapple and raisins and some other fruity ingredients but it was just ok. I guess I'm not a fan of the raisins in it. I would have much rather preferred walnuts to replace the raisins. But still pretty good nonetheless. read more

Carb heaven!! We were staying close by so stopped here to pick up some treats for our morning spread. Based on the reviews, I was nervous everything would be too sweet but that wasn't the case. Everything had good flavor. We tried the POG bread samples and brought home a Hawaiian muffin, banana bread, a ginger snap cookie - the standout IMO was the almond croissant- it had delicate almond custard inside! Yum. The lady helping us was super nice. We saw trays of fresh breads being brought over from where everything is baked just a couple doors down. As long as you aren't on a low carb diet (or any kind of weight loss diet) definitely check this place out, and come early in the am so you can pick from a large selection. read more

Maui Bread offered a large selection of loaves and gluten free breads. I had expected bread loaves like croissants and breads like challah, brioche, white, wheat, sour dough, but no, it's banana bread-like loaves. They must have an extra sweet tooth because their breads were too sweet for us. I would have preferred half that amount of sugar on all their products. Though it was too sweet, their Hawaiian loaf was our favorite. It had a good amount of fruit and mix in there. Their gluten-free passion fruit loaf was just too sweet for us to enjoy at all. My teeth stung from biting into it! Basically, it's not a loaf, it's just a bar, like a lemon-bar. I was so disappointed, we didn't return. It's just another "meh" restaurant in Kihei. read more

Wonderful flavor. My spouse didn't prefer the sweet bread but enjoyed a chocolate croissant. They always have had samples of their iced coffee and POG juice. If you're a juice person, it's a great option. And their coconut coffee is an experience- a good different! And I've heard others gawking over their regular and banana bread. GET THE ORANGE PASSIONFRUIT GUAVA BREAD!!! It's honestly the best bread I've ever had in Hawaii, very unique flavor and super moist. It's a bit sweet but definitely not overpowering. Plus the bread has an attractive pink color so who wouldn't love that??!? We also tried the cookies but not so great. The cookies are a bit dry, especially the peanut butter with bacon. read more

A really cute shop located in dolphin plaza. You walk in to find all the yummy goodies nicely organized. They offer everything from pastries, bread, cookies, mochi, etc. Let's just say you'll want to try everything. They even offer day old pastures at a lower price. I purchased a couple of their savory breads & the gluten free ube mochi. The breads were all very good in flavor & were just the right portion size. Talk about carb overload. The mochi however, I did not really care for. The texture was not mochi like at all & was kind of dry. Not sure if it was because it was gluten free but nothing of it reminded me of mochi. Kind of a bummer as I just recently discovered my love for ube & got excited when I saw that. Will be back though as there are more items I want to try. read more

Sweet lady runs this family owned business (shes currently expecting a little). Customer service was great, the sweet lady owner was chatty, positive, and friendly. The bread was fresh, tasted great. We picked up banana, POG, and hawaiian bread. They didnt last 24 hours... (my girls destroyed these breads!) Also picked up some jam (the purple one). My daughter loves the jam! Seeing as Hawaii is all about those macadamia nuts, I'd been searching high and low for my favorite cookie: white chocolate macadamia nut. As it turns out, that's not a thing here. *cry* Favorites? - Coconut coffee: strong, but not hurt-your-stomach strong like Vietnamese coffee. The added coconut milk made it so nice to drink. - Mochi bread: both the ube and lilikoi were delicious. I've since tried making them here at home and can't figure out how theirs is so good. (Hey Maui Bread, any hints?) - Pineapple Bread: it's not like banana bread, though it looks like it. And it's not hit-you-in-the-face pineapple. Great little bakery! We stopped in hoping to get a coffee and pastry. The pastries were plentiful, diverse, and delicious! I was a bit bummed by no traditional coffee options but I ended up trying a coconut iced coffee and really liked it! It was thicker than normal coffee, more creamy, like milk... kind of. I'm doing a poor job of explaining it but it is really good! The cinnamon rolls were a bit smaller than expected so go ahead and order (at least) one for yourself. The lady (presumed owner) behind the counter was extremely polite. She happily talked myself and a few other customers through our important decision making process. There are a few tables outside making it a great spot to sit and enjoy a bite to eat. I would definitely go back the next time I find myself in the area. read more

This is THE best bakery on Maui. If you are looking for a variety of true authentic German bread and pastries this is your place. They have everything... bread, rolls, baguette and everything one can desire with a sweet tooth ... muffins, cinnamon rolls, cookies,... but they also offer hot items like egg&ham/bacon rolls and twists and much much more.
