Stopped by Matt's Big Breakfast after a long overnight flight, was super happy with the short wait time - we were almost immediately seated. But service fell short after being seated, our waiter was pretty rude throughout the time that we were there so that was a bummer... The food is already prepared before you order so you're not able to customize things on the breakfast sandwiches and burritos. I ordered the Mamacita burger (she said that they were grilled to your temperature of choice) and subbed out their steak fries out for the home fries which were so worth the switch and but the Burger was well cooked over what I'd expected... it was still a pretty good option overall. It's an airport stop. Seats were a bit sticky and dirty, but it was a great stop for brunch when we had a two and a half hour layover. I had a burger, and my son had the waffle. Plenty of options for the quick stop, and a full bar for those that like to try new beers and drinks. Intried the local amber to Phoenix and it was delicious. read more

Honestly one of the best airport restaurants I've been to. We had just come off of a redeye and they were just about to open. Luckily we were one of the first in line, and the line got long. They were short staffed and opened a little late, but it was worth the wait. Food: The bacon was Thick! The potatoes were country style with onions, and my eggs were great. We also got waffles and they were fantastic. Atmosphere: It's an airport restaurant, and there were a lot of people waiting to be seated. Service: The service was great, and quick. We placed our order and it was out in minutes. Tip: If your here in the morning and have the time, it's worth the wait. I do believe they are open all day, so it's a great airport restaurant. read more

Just a one-time-visitor shout out! I was waiting for my flight out of Sky Harbor and I knew I needed a little snack and a cocktail prior to boarding. I sat at the bar (this place was PACKED at 8:30am). The bartender could not have been sweeter, which is a great sign when you are packed to the gills and still can keep your charm up... she was great! I ordered some sourdough toast and jam. The toast was very homemade style, very yummy, thick and delicious! Jam was the same, also yummy, thick and delicious. A perfect combo. Washed that down with an extra spicy Bloody Mary, topped with cheeses, olive, and a thick slice of crispy bacon. I know when I'm back, I will take time to visit again. Thanks! CHEERS!! read more

I came here right at opening before my flight. Matt's Big Breakfast is in Terminal 4 of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport near Gate B5. This is a mini version of the popular Phoenix restaurant that opened in 2004 and was featured on Food Network. They only had a couple breakfast items and some salads on the menu when I visited. The B.E.C. sandwich is pretty big and tasty. But the breakfast items are premade ahead of time. I try not to complain too much because it is the airport and I'm usually in a hurry. I also ordered a Blood Mary that had cheese, olives, and bacon for garnishes. My bartender was a little overwhelmed at first because she had to do the breakfast rush alone. But she still did a solid job attending to everyone. It's nice that Sky Harbor allows our local restaurants to do business here instead of just having a bunch of fast food joints. read more

We had a 3.5 hour layover in the Phoenix airport, so we picked a sit down restaurant. We didn't have to wait too long and the food arrived fairly quick considering it's a busy place. The staff was very nice and thoughtful. I got the "egg & chick" my husband got Matt's big breakfast. The thick bacon is peppered and thick. It's a little lean, but delicious. The over easy eggs we're done perfectly and the rosemary potatoes were yummy! The toast came with a side of what looks like homemade strawberry jam, yum! Continued to wait, no refills on our drinks, no interactions just waiting. Finally got our food and it was very bad. My waffle was okay but one slice of bacon was burned, the other fatty. I asked for butter and by the time it came my waffle was cold. The side of home fries were either from frozen or cooked very early and reheated all day. I sent them back. You have to have low expectations for airport restaurants. It was not busy at this restaurant today. I sat at the bar, and tried to use the QR code to order--but it still had someone else's bill on it for my seat. So I ordered a beer and a side of fries directly from the server. Beer was $13-but otherwise good and the fries were $7-but it's an airport. After 30 minutes, I flagged down the server to ask where my order was. She never checked once in that time. She mumbled "let me check", walked promptly to the open kitchen, and took the first plate of fries she saw (not mine, but probably someone else's). I love how breakfast is served 24 hours all day! It's honestly the best, and most important meal of the day. And for the airport, it was pretty good. I have pretty low expectations since it's usually average tasting but a heftier price. The Sonrisa burrito was good, except for a couple pieces of the potatoes. Some of the pieces were tough, like they were cooked for too long. I asked for extra salsa as well...they definitely don't give enough if you're trying to pour a bit on every bite. We stopped at Matt's Big Breakfast at the airport today and were disappointed. We have eaten at a couple of these in town and they were great. Today, we were seated fairly quickly which was great. The waitress took the order of the gal who was seated prior to us, then took our order and put them in the computer. A couple then were seated and the waitress took their order. We saw our order and the order of the gal who ordered before us being place in the service window. It sat there for about ten minutes. Then a fellow went to the window and picked up the order of the couple that were seated after us and delivered it to them. We waited another 5 minutes and he finally went to the window and got the order for the gal before us and for us. Sadly, the pancakes were cold and the burrito, while tasting good, was also cold. We had to ask for another cup of coffee and we were charged extra for additional syrup. We don't mind paying for good food but this was very disappointing read more

Airport food in the US is usually pretty awful. I didn't expect Sky Harbor to have anything decent but Matt's was decent even with their very limited breakfast menu (one egg sandwich and one breakfast burrito on the menu). Seating here is self serve but turnover is pretty quick. Food here was hot and pretty fresh which was surprising. The burrito was flavorful with sausage and eggs and was quite filling. Service here was fast and friendly which is pretty impressive considering how busy it gets in the airport for their limited amount of staff. Definitely better than expected and if you're coming in early and you're hungry, you could do worse. read more

The coffee is brown water, eggs are over cooked, bacon was thick cut which made it tough to chew and everything was Luke warm to the touch. I took an early morning flight and had a stop near Phoenix.Matts Big Breakfast was the only sit down restaurant option on my terminal row so I got in line where I did not see a sign and waited as a few people behind me arrived and waited as well, after a few minutes of no one acknowledging us I thought maybe I am supposed to seat myself because the restaurant was less than half full and over half the seats at bar were empty. A very rude female blond bartender (6/11/24) said "Uhm you need to wait to be seated" I quickly went back to the stand and continued to wait. The folks behind me were also irritated not at the wait but the lack of customer service. No one said anything, not a good morning be right with you, not a folks the host will be right there not even eye contact until I made the decision to try to sit at bar when she Rudely said "Uhm you need to wait to be seated". I then waited about another 5 minutes then gave up and went to see where else I could get something to eat. After checking a few other spots I go to the Big Matt's take out and try to purchase a Rueben Too the woman tells me I can't order that there and I need to get. A seat in the restaurant to order that. I nicely explain I tried that. She turns to the Rude bartender and says can I seat someone at the bar. The bartender gives me a dirty look and says "what can I get for you" I said a Rueben to go and she said "You could have ordered that over there" (in the take out line) I stated that I had tried to do that, but I was not allowed to order the living over there. I told her I had tried to wait in your line to be seated where you rudely ignored me then rudely commented to get back in line, then rudely ignored me again... She then very snarky explain to me that she was not ready to have any other customer yet and then she needed time to get her ball ready... I completely understand that the answer to that is to say something kind because you're in customer service... The wrong answer is to be rude to the customer in line. Have no clue what to do because they don't work here and you do and guide them in a kind and customer service friendly way.... I get you are an airport restaurant and I get you're gonna be busy no matter what however you should probably find a career in a different industry if your name is Carmen and you're the blonde bartender with no smile.... If you own Big Matt's or claim to be the manager. (Who was cooking not managing) I would consider some hospitality lessons for the entire staff.... The only thing the bartender said to me after she told me I should have ordered in the Togo line was "well you know what I have to host, buss, bartend, serve, take out trash (I swear to Jesus she said this) and even cook so I need time before I can seat... As much as I can appreciate all those facts and I truly do.. here's a couple of facts for you Big Matt's Owners, Managers and Rude staff you have actually signed up for a job in the service industry. Therefore, it is expected that you give customer service, Restaurants need the managers to manage, Restaurants with a host stand need a host or guests will make their own assumptions and finally how about a tiny smile or god forbid a kind word it goes a long way and stops people from putting in 3 page reviews about your horrible service. I ate one meal meal here passing through at the Sky Harbor Airport. Of course the restaurant name has "breakfast" in it but it was lunch time and I did not want breakfast. I approached the desk and waited for a few minutes to be acknowledged. I was seated at the only empty table in the place and wanted to make sure that there were non-breakfast items on the menu. I decided on the chili cheeseburger with steak fries. The patty was large which was good for me. The chili surprised me because it it had beans in it. I usually eat beef chili with no beans on my burgers. The burger had good flavor to it as they use butter on the buns. The fries were very good as I like the steak fries. Overall the food was good. It took a while to get seated but the service was friendly and was a good experience. I didn't feel super rushed as the food came out fast enough and I had plenty of time to eat with time to spare to board my next flight. I was definitely full when I left. UPDATE 2: finally got food 40m in after ordering. Was standing at the buffet line of a restaurant (that is closed) next to Matt's Big Breakfast.
