We have a two hour layover do we decided to eat breakfast at Matt's. I ordered the skinny breakfast, which is egg whites with Chicken apple sausage and spinach and a side salad. It tasted amazing . No need to worry about getting hungry if you're on a long flight with the offerings here. The place gets very busy at all hours of the day so account for that if you plan to have breakfast here before boarding. The bloodys are massive and full of flavor as well as their breakfast sandwich with potatoes. Kept me full enough on my 4 hour flight to skip the inflight snack when in the air. Placed seemed to be a little short staffed but did not impact our service, however did have a slightly longer wait to get seated than normal. Just boarded my flight to JFK and still sipping on the coffee I purchased from this MBB location in the B gate area... I am looking back at my review from 9 years ago and seeing that I had a similar experience then as I did today, and ordered pretty much the same meal! This time my Sonrisa Burrito was made to order with egg whites and no potatoes and it came with salsa on the side. Just like last time, it was delicious! I can't speak to the sit down service, but the to-go is busy and not the friendliest, but very efficient. My food was ready earlier than the expected 10-15 minutes I was quoted. They have basic coffee in the menu with only a whole milk option and it's a limited menu, but everything on it is done well and clearly consistent. You will pay a price though- with tip, my burrito, coffee and bottle of water added up to $37! Whether this airport location or others in the Valley, you can't go wrong with fueling up at Matt's! read more

During my last trip out to New York, I had a layover at PHX Airport for both my outbound and inbound flights. Since each of the layovers were for a couple of hours, I walked over to the B concourse to eat here. Both times, I got their steak & eggs with sourdough toast and coffee. What can I say? I'm a creature of habit. Service was good. Coincidentally, I had the same waitress both times. Given how many people were there eating, I expected good food. I ordered the "skinny" breakfast which sounded good on the menu but was in fact pretty awful. It was served with a salad and vinaigrette, which is not something I would like for breakfast but I decided to try it. I took about 3 bites and left the rest uneaten. My brother got a different meal (though I can't remember what it was now) and he left most of his uneaten as well. Of course, airport restaurants are expected to be pricier but with the quality of the food being so pour, it was about $85 wasted other than a few cups of coffee. Located in the airport. Food looks great, smells good, but just looking to enjoy a beer during a lay over, before leaving back home. The bartender, whom ever she is, really sucks. I asked for one beer and her response was "Sure, but I have all these customers." Two other gentlemen sat down at the bar shortly after and she immediately tended to their drink order. Food tasted good but was cold. We got the grilled cheese sandwich with the tomato soup and both the grilled cheese and soup were cold. Despite the name, Matt's Big Breakfast at the airport has lunch and dinner too. On my most recent visit I got the Mamacita, topped with slices of bacon and gooey cheese. It's airport pricing to be sure at about $20, but a respectable burger with a hearty side of steak fries. I was a little worried those big potato slabs would be soft and squishy, but they were fried perfectly. The BLT is also very good - it's slightly less pricey than the burger and comes with skinnier fries. Good selection of draft beer and a full bar. Friendly and efficient bartender.
