Best Airport Bloody Mary....add Sid of bacon. Good thing for this combination because the Bartender has zero personality. It's the airport so what would you expect. read more

Probably the best place in the airport to grab breakfast! Freshly squeezed OJ, big portions and fresh ingredients. The screwdriver with the fresh OJ was delicious, loved the rosemary in the potatoes as well. Quick service and super nice server doing the hostessing and serving all with a smile! read more

WOW, what a cure for the common airport food disappointment. I really felt like I was at a satisfactory diner. Eggs with locally-made sourdough toast with chunky strawberry preserves, and really good home fries seasoned with dried rosemary. Oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins. Mellow coffee with real cream. Fresh squeezed oj. Why can't there be a spot like this be at every airport? At least I know I can always enjoy a good meal in PHX. read more

Decent place if you like to eat breakfast and listen to emo music at 6am. Average food. Fast and friendly service.

What's better than a waffle as a late brunch when you have a layover at 3:00 pm? I don't care where you are in Terminal 4, this place deserves your business. My server was friendly and prompt. The waffle I ordered was hot and delicious. The bacon was crunchy and flavorful. It satisfied my breakfast sugar craving. 4 out of 5 stars, because the food took longer than expected and there were a lot of crumbs and pieces of paper on the floor. The waffle could have been slightly crisper also. Overall, I would go back if I'm in the mood for breakfast food. read more

Matt's Big Breakfast - Waffle and bacon. Pretty yummy. - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

I ate one meal meal here passing through at the Sky Harbor Airport. Of course the restaurant name has "breakfast" in it but it was lunch time and I did not want breakfast. I approached the desk and waited for a few minutes to be acknowledged. I was seated at the only empty table in the place and wanted to make sure that there were non-breakfast items on the menu. I decided on the chili cheeseburger with steak fries. The patty was large which was good for me. The chili surprised me because it it had beans in it. I usually eat beef chili with no beans on my burgers. The burger had good flavor to it as they use butter on the buns. The fries were very good as I like the steak fries. Overall the food was good. It took a while to get seated but the service was friendly and was a good experience. I didn't feel super rushed as the food came out fast enough and I had plenty of time to eat with time to spare to board my next flight. I was definitely full when I left. This was a three star experience for me. read more

Slow with a serving of snark. 25min wait at 10:30a for food from the grab-n-dash line. In retrospect should have eaten elsewhere. UPDATE: now 30min later and the clerk has just up and left. UPDATE 2: finally got food 40m in after ordering. Was standing at the buffet line of a restaurant (that is closed) next to Matt's Big Breakfast. And one of the servers from Matt's came to tell me I couldn't stand in the concourse and eat at this location. Wow. read more

Decent food. Seemed a bit understaffed in the front end and in the kitchen. Waited over 30 minutes for one entree. Wife's mimosa took a while too. Server was attentive once we sat down. She was honest that they were short staffed so there will be a wait on the food. AZ scramble was good, very flavorful. I would recommend that dish. read more

I have stopped here before a morning flight a handful of times. The Bloody Mary's are excellent. The food is pretty good, but all that is coming at airport prices, so it is expensive for what you get. The last time we were in, it was busy but not totally packed, and the staff seemed to be having trouble keeping up. We were seated at a table almost right away, but about 20 minutes passed before we were greeted. If you are pressed for time, I'd probably do something more grab-and-go. read more

At six in the morning or six at night Matt's Big Breakfast is where it is at. Located in the B terminal between gates B3 & B5 this is the place to stop for food on the go. I have had breakfast, lunch, and dinner here (on separate dates thank goodness) and have never been disappointed. I was recently here for breakfast at 6:30am. The wait staff was thin at that time so I opted to order at the counter and grab my Sonrisa breakfast burrito to go. Do yourself a favor and go for chorizo as your meat in this burrito. The combination of the jalapenos and chorizo made this a spicy treat to really wake you up. Don't care for spices? Order eggs your way! In the past for lunch or dinner I normally opt for the chili. I cannot express how wonderful their chili really is. It's always my go to and it's nice layered flavorful experience that's served warm but not too hot. Pro-tip: they offer a reduced menu if you are in a rush and need to grab your grub to go. Tight connection? You can also order online via the American Airlines app when you land and your food will be ready and waiting when you get there. read more

This was absolutely the best dining experience I've ever had in an airport at 6AM! I was on an overnight flight from Hawaii and didn't have a chance to eat before the flight and then they didn't serve anything on the plane except biscotti I arrived in Phoenix starving at 6AM and thought what the hell am I going to eat to survive before my next flight which would be taking me straight to work. I found this place and promptly ordered champagne and their homemade chili. ‍ I thought this was a questionable choice but I went with it. It was hands-down the best chili I've ever had in my life that I didn't make myself or that my mom didn't make. I have been thinking about it ever since! I Highly recommend checking this place out! read more

Do NOT eat here if you are even moderately in a hurry, you know, like you sometimes are in airports when you have to catch your flight. I waited at the register (2nd in line) for 10 minutes for my order to be taken. I should have left then but I was trying to be positive. After I ordered my breakfast burrito it took 20 minutes to get it. I counted 8 people in the kitchen. Not all cooks I'm sure but come on, how hard is a breakfast burrito?? I had to eat it on the plane because of how long it took and it was just meh, so all in all a huge disappointment. read more

We stopped at Matt's Big Breakfast at the airport today and were disappointed. We have eaten at a couple of these in town and they were great. Today, we were seated fairly quickly which was great. The waitress took the order of the gal who was seated prior to us, then took our order and put them in the computer. A couple then were seated and the waitress took their order. We saw our order and the order of the gal who ordered before us being place in the service window. It sat there for about ten minutes. Then a fellow went to the window and picked up the order of the couple that were seated after us and delivered it to them. We waited another 5 minutes and he finally went to the window and got the order for the gal before us and for us. Sadly, the pancakes were cold and the burrito, while tasting good, was also cold. We had to ask for another cup of coffee and we were charged extra for additional syrup. We don't mind paying for good food but this was very disappointing read more

I stopped in here for dinner on a Sunday night and where the terminal overall was slow, this restaurant was hopping! Pretty popular place it seems. I was flying solo and was found a seat quickly when I approached. I tell you, the customer service here alone was enough to make me want to go back! The host and the server were both excellent. The food I had also was spot on! I had burger with this jalapeno aioli that reminded me of hatch green chilis!! Not sure what they did but man it was so yummy! I also paid a couple extra bucks and got the steak fries. Normally not my thing but these came out crispy and were served with an A1 BBQ sauce. So good together with the burger. I can't speak to the breakfast as I only had dinner here but I'd be willing to try it out if in Phoenix for breakfast! Safe travels!!!! read more

You know, a lot of the big talk around the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport is about how great Gate D is in terminal 4. And don't get Jimi wrong, it's spectacular. But a hidden gem is Matt's Big Breakfast next to gate B9. If you come here and don't eat at least one waffle, then you didn't do gate B correctly. I stopped by here in between flights. The lady who seats people as well as cleans tables was rude and borderline concerning in how she spoke to the only 2 minority men who entered. A nice couple at the bar where I was seated shared that they were very strict and like that to everyone. I thanked them because I was truly beginning to feel offended. The meal was ok and the bartender who served me seemed busy and not focused on customer service with a smile. Just customer service. Monday hours: 7 AM - 9 PM (according to a quick Google search) When I arrived at 11 AM: Closed. I do not relish stamping one star on my all-time favorite breakfast restaurant. Just kidding, I do! I drove from Yuma to Sky Harbor this morning with the sole intention of trying Matt's Big Breakfast at the airport. I'm rather like a collector, solidifying my reign by having breakfast at each of the MBB locations. It was the plan until it wasn't, and MBB's shoddy hours made that so. Three wings of the airport, MBB -- that was the length of my journey to find you closed and dysfunctional. I had a trainwreck of a sandwich from a different food place, which was open, so I won't buy the notion that all airport eateries close early. I will keep these remarks here for safekeeping. Someday, I will return, and when I do, I will have breakfast. Until then, you have failed, MBB. On this day, you have failed. read more

May 2, 2019 Thursday - 8 AM for Breakfast 1 adult Atmosphere - 5 stars Food - 5 stars Service - 4 stars Background - I knew I had a long layover, and I also knew there was a Diner, Drive-In and Dives alternate location inside Sky Harbor. For me alternate triple D locations are where they did not film the show at this location but related to the film location. I walked off the plane and boom there they were. Atmosphere - A sit down relax airport restaurant. The bar seating area was large, which is ideal for the solo traveler. So I ended sitting there, no point of taking a two person table. Best part of sitting at the bar is that there is an outlet either to right or left below the counter, near your knees. Food Drink - I had Kilt Lifter by Four Peaks Brewing Company a local brewery, which they actually have a bar in the airport too. I gotta love how no one judges you for having a beer at 8 AM. Breakfast - I love a good breakfast burrito and the Sonrisa caught my eye immediately. The burrito was grilled lightly on the flat top to give a crisp toasty texture to the tortilla. I would have like my potatoes to been a little smaller and the chorizo to be a little larger. Just a person preference. The chorizo was a crumble and very tasty. The salsa had a nice smoke taste, but I found it too watery. So it was not good for dipping my burrito so I had to pour it onto my burrito. The burrito was cut in half and I was using my hand to hold it instead of using the real silverware fork and knife they provide. Service - I was in an out in 30 minutes, which is what you want in an airport. The down side of the place was they did not have a true hostess working today, or ever I do not know. But a couple of the waiters were working the station plus my bartender from behind the bar. My bartender seemed like a carny try to get people into the place, so that was kinda an atmosphere killer. Future - If I have time I will be back, hopefully I can get back to the original location. read more

How hungry are you really? I bet you're not hungry enough to eat here. The food here indicates made to order, but it's obvious that it's precooked and reheated. The coffee is brown water, eggs are over cooked, bacon was thick cut which made it tough to chew and everything was Luke warm to the touch. The servers yelled at customers waiting in line rather than walking over to talk to them to seat them. Seriously, just grab something from the news stand - it'll cost you less and taste like actual food. read more

I like getting to Phoenix Sky Harbor just so I have time to eat. It doesn't matter what time of the day, I'm going to try something. I've had the privilege of a seat at Matt's Big Breakfast in downtown Phoenix. It's been a while, and I've been waiting for their Scottsdale location to open too. I wish I knew what the holdup was there, it seems to be taking too long? It was nice to get a bar seat at Matt's Big Breakfast at the airport. The drink menu enticed me to try a cocktail, which I passed on until I saw the bartender pouring mimosas. I had one of those. It was early and I was traveling for pleasure, so don't judge. I stick to my staples because my stomach has issues. Or should I say food has issues with me because I love all food. It just doesn't all like me. And I'm a creature of habit most of the time. The bacon and potatoes were soooo good. Thick, and I mean thick-cut bacon perfectly crisp. Perfectly. And the potatoes, simple, crispy. My travel mate had the meat lovers with sausage. Both were Yummy. I had to pass on the egg, that whole some food doesn't like me thing. Otherwise, I would have ordered them soft poached. Being at the airport and a Matts Big Breakfast, the staff moves you in and out quickly to keep the line forming in the middle of the airport from getting too long. I hope the one in Scottsdale opens soon! read more

It is worth coming to the airport early just to have a meal here. It can be busy during email time and the services are not fast. I will give it at least an hour in the restaurant so that you won't need to run to the gate. It's your American comfort food done very well. Pancake (called griddle cake), waffle, sausage, bacon, eggs, etc. Yep, we all want it from time to time. Being inside an airport gives you the best excuse. read more

Ass service ass food. If I could give stars in the negative I would. Lady's at the bar yell at people. Not gonna lie it's kind of funny. Friend ordered a burrito and it came out on a plate in piles and she had to make it herself. Pancakes and bacon were burnt. The food looked like it came straight out of the womb with me. I regret paying 15 dollars for this. Should have waited in the long line for Wendy's. Also the soda was as flat as your mom and tasted like water. They also yelled at us asking how many were in our party, we said 5, they rolled their eyes and then let the entire line behind us go ahead including a party of 4. If you want to live do not eat here. read more

Matt's Big Breakfast - The do it yourself burrito. This is what happens when you ask for no jalapeños. - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Phoenix, Arizona

This airport outpost is a sorry excuse for Matt's Big Breakfast. I really like the original location of Matt's, and this is just an embarrassment. First, the place was filthy. Dirty utensils under the table, bits of napkin all over the area. No prices on the menu for draft beer, so be warned, a draft beer is 12 ounces (even though they claim 13 ounces) and it's $9. The $5.49 order of fries were a cup of sogginess. Sandwich order came out wrong. Manager and servers said, "not my decision, write to management." So, I am now 0 and 3 with PHX restaurants run by this management company. I'm through PHX half the year, so I guess I'll start packing food. read more

This place gets busy! I thought since it was busy it might be a good spot, first I was served luke warm, borderline cold coffee. Big no no for a breakfast spot! I ordered a skinny breakfast with egg whites, chicken apple sausage and side salad. I think the apple sausage threw me off a bit, it was sweet mixed with eggs. It was like putting sugar in to it eggs instead of salt, the side salad was tasty. I waited forever to pay too. Probably will skip this spot next time. read more

Two airport employees recommended this place. It's the only sit down in the American Airlines terminal, and I was just trying to get my contractions to stop after my mad sprint to my flight after the connecting one was late. I got a meal voucher out of it *le sigh* I really like that there's outlets pretty much everywhere you sit. That is awesome. Service was fast. I got a honey lemonade... which tasted like.. uhhh.. honey lemonade. It was off, but that's totally my fault. I got the Sweet and Savory, which was French toast and apple sausage. The entree was no bueno. I am not reviewing to James Beard winner status, but it's a few rungs below IHOP and Denny's. I didn't finish my food, and I'm totally pregnant and exhausted. Something in the execution or the recipe went horribly awry. Food and drink: $16 something. read more

Bad Decisions I've Made in 2017: 1. Picking up a skillet fresh out of the oven with my bare hand. 2. Believing the NY Giants were going to win. 3. Leaning into the trunk of a cab too early, and gashing my head on the rebounding door. Good Decisions I've Made in 2017: 1. Getting the Sonrisa Burrito before I got on a plane back to NYC. (Clearly killing it this year.) Admittedly, my Phoenix airport eatery experience is a bit limited, but after drinking liquor of questionable quality until the wee hours of the morning, this burrito quite possibly saved my life. Although the menu only lists bacon and sausage as meat options, chorizo was a nice surprise choice. Beware, it's going to take 15 minutes for this thing because it's real food, and they have to grill the burrito. Which is so, so worth it, even if you have to miss your flight and live in PHX for the rest of your life. Well, maybe not then. read more

Decent spot. As always when in an airport pricing is not a rating factor. It will be at least 30% more than the outside. Bacon is the specialty and it is really good. Dear Matt (assuming that Matt exists), This is not about the food - it was excellent. This is not about cleanliness - it was spotless. This IS ABOUT ... Alexa, our server. She was beyond excellent. Clone her. Really. We arrived on the red eye from Kona. Good olde American Airlines decided to skip feeding us in First Class, saying that the 5 hour flight allowed insufficient time to serve 12 people the "Full Breakfast" that was listed on our itinerary - I kid you not. Just shut up and each your potato chips. Coffee? Cold. Decaf? Instant. First Class, my arse. We arrived early, hungry and cranky. There was a bit of line. The restaurant seemed packed, yet we were seated immediately. How'd you DO that? (By paying attention and sweating the details). Waters arrived immediately. Lemon? Let me get that! Coffee followed promptly. Hot coffee, thank you. We never saw the bottom of our coffee cups. The breakfast sandwich and breakfast burrito were both excellent. The portions were generous. Hot food, hot. Cold food, cold. The Bloody Mary's ... rock. And ... Alexa also pointed out a virtually hidden AC outlet so that I could (re)charge my phone. She's an important asset to your success. Treasure her. Nurture her. Reward her. (No, we are not family.) read more

Waited 20 minutes could not get seated. Wait staff rude and untrained. I would avoid this place at all costs.

Good portions, fast service and really, really good bacon. Waffle was perfect. Great stop at the B gates if you're hungry.

I took an early morning flight and had a stop near Phoenix.Matts Big Breakfast was the only sit down restaurant option on my terminal row so I got in line where I did not see a sign and waited as a few people behind me arrived and waited as well, after a few minutes of no one acknowledging us I thought maybe I am supposed to seat myself because the restaurant was less than half full and over half the seats at bar were empty. A very rude female blond bartender (6/11/24) said "Uhm you need to wait to be seated" I quickly went back to the stand and continued to wait. The folks behind me were also irritated not at the wait but the lack of customer service. No one said anything, not a good morning be right with you, not a folks the host will be right there not even eye contact until I made the decision to try to sit at bar when she Rudely said "Uhm you need to wait to be seated". I then waited about another 5 minutes then gave up and went to see where else I could get something to eat. After checking a few other spots I go to the Big Matt's take out and try to purchase a Rueben Too the woman tells me I can't order that there and I need to get. A seat in the restaurant to order that. I nicely explain I tried that. She turns to the Rude bartender and says can I seat someone at the bar. The bartender gives me a dirty look and says "what can I get for you" I said a Rueben to go and she said "You could have ordered that over there" (in the take out line) I stated that I had tried to do that, but I was not allowed to order the living over there. I told her I had tried to wait in your line to be seated where you rudely ignored me then rudely commented to get back in line, then rudely ignored me again... She then very snarky explain to me that she was not ready to have any other customer yet and then she needed time to get her ball ready... I completely understand that the answer to that is to say something kind because you're in customer service... The wrong answer is to be rude to the customer in line. Have no clue what to do because they don't work here and you do and guide them in a kind and customer service friendly way.... I get you are an airport restaurant and I get you're gonna be busy no matter what however you should probably find a career in a different industry if your name is Carmen and you're the blonde bartender with no smile.... If you own Big Matt's or claim to be the manager. (Who was cooking not managing) I would consider some hospitality lessons for the entire staff.... The only thing the bartender said to me after she told me I should have ordered in the Togo line was "well you know what I have to host, buss, bartend, serve, take out trash (I swear to Jesus she said this) and even cook so I need time before I can seat... As much as I can appreciate all those facts and I truly do.. here's a couple of facts for you Big Matt's Owners, Managers and Rude staff you have actually signed up for a job in the service industry. Therefore, it is expected that you give customer service, Restaurants need the managers to manage, Restaurants with a host stand need a host or guests will make their own assumptions and finally how about a tiny smile or god forbid a kind word it goes a long way and stops people from putting in 3 page reviews about your horrible service. Just a thought!!!!! read more

Yet another lay over! Luckily Matt's Big Breakfast is very close to my terminal.
