Long wait times for seating. Even longer wait time for your order. Food was pretty good. Very hearty portions. Entrées are reasonably priced, but sides are ridiculous. This place was recommended by the hotel staff for breakfast. Some businesses are still closed to the pandemic, but Matt's is open. I am still a little reluctant to eat in an enclosed space, so I got my food to go. I got the hog and chick with eggs over hard and that delicious thick bacon. It was very satisfying as I haven't had a diner breakfast in a while. The best part had to be the fresh orange juice. Even though the portion of my "large" orange juice was meager, it tasted really fresh. I appreciated the fact that they had disposable paper to touch the door handles and hand sanitizer inside, although the bottle was almost empty when I used it. read more

Stopped in one late morning with my family. We were given a warm welcome and seated promptly. This establishment is very clean, the staff working swiftly to clear out tables. They are also quick to take down orders and bring out drinks. It's obvious they have an attentive staff that does well even when they get busy. Something we really appreciated because we had arrived with our toddler who has very little patience. A relief to us when we are served that quickly. If you have a family with small children, also know they don't offer a menu for children and you will have to order à la carte. I did just that, splitting a stack of pancakes, a plate of eggs and two sausage patties with my toddler. I love that their orange juice is freshly squeezed. Since it was already close to noon, my husband opted for a burger. He says it was good. He would also like for me to mention that the side of chips that accompany the burger were perfectly crisp. The coffee here is also good. We also got a side of potatoes to share, they were good and seasoned well, but my only issue would be that they were made with an overwhelming amount of olive oil. I'm probably not gonna be able to add much that hasn't already been said. Yes, it's worth it. The flavors are tremendous. The homemade sourdough bread/jam was divine. I love herbed breakfast potatoes, and these had rosemary and seasonings that were especially well put together. Scramble was chocked full of fresh veggies. The coffee was great, and they were able to bring me some honey. The only reason it's four out of five stars is due to something that happened just as I was leaving. I requested to go cutlery and the fella at the front desk told me to ask the young lady behind the counter. No problem at all. Up until this point the service was impeccable BTW. The young lady behind the counter was on her cell phone and I said excuse me twice and a woman at the bar finally said excuse me twice loud enough to where she reluctantly turned around and responded. I ended up standing there for four minutes waiting for the cutlery. The young lady was attempting to make it look like she was incorporating her personal cell phone with a work cell phone-computer in front of her, but it was definitely personal cell phone use, I could see. Not the first time it's happened, and it won't be the last. In this world, it just seems part of our story now. Had she not been doing this, it would be five out of five stars. I am not opposed to employers demanding employees keep their personal cell phones locked in a locker while they're on shift. read more

Where do we start?! In town for the weekend & staying at a great AirBnb nearby, MBB popped up for Breakfast choices - we didn't want a chain or fast food. So glad we took a chance. ;) My husband ordered the Hog & Chick (extra-thick bacon & eggs) which came with hash browns (perfectly cooked) and incredible rye toast - with REAL butter on the side! The strawberry preserves were so good (& rarely seen elsewhere)! I ordered The Skinny (4 egg whites with cheddar & chicken/apple sausage in a scramble served with mixed green in a perfectly tossed olive oil/wine vinegar in house dressing) it was so good! YUM! I ordered the "Chop & Chick" and fresh squeezed OJ and man was it delicious. The pork chop was tender and very flavorful and so was the potatoes. 10 out of 10!!! Even though they was extremely busy with the Super Bowl crowd, the kept things moving and the servers was very tentative. The ambiance was the hype of the Super Bowl, so it wasn't chill at all which was great! I enjoyed it so much that I ordered another Chop & Chix to go before my flight. Had a Sunday free so decided to try this place. Got there around 8 and it already had a waiting list. Was only a 5 minute wait and was seated. Nice and cool inside with a relaxed atmosphere. Ordered the special which was steak and eggs. It is like a 6oz well seasoned steak, 3 eggs, a huge portion of tasty hash browns, and sourdough toast with strawberry preserves. Everything was very delicious. Even their coffee which was from cave creek was good. Only gave it 4 stars because it was a little pricey. In the Big breakfast country of Phoenix MBB is iconic!! I've eaten here 3x this week. A bit factory like in its efficiency you are welcomed with good coffee. Even the decaf is good. Are: The chop and chick The hog and chick The skinny Firstly since I've not been here in 7 years the joint needs updating. It's a bit stinky. The other negative is the menu has been tweaked but could be further updated to include local sauces like green Chile verde snd additional lighter options though meat is done extremely well here. The chop and chick with an Iowa chop might be one of the best breakfasts in America. Hash browns are incredible. The slab ham in the hog and chick is also fabulous. The skinny was ok. The salad and fruit cup are blah. They have MBB hot sauce. All breads and preserves are great!!! Probably my favorite is sourdough with a schear of butter. This is a pretty decent place to get breakfast! This restaurant is located right next to The Churchill, and there is metered street parking available all around the area. The wait is around 15-20 minutes on a Saturday morning, and there is some seating outside in the form of wooden benches if you want to hang around the restaurant (alternatively you can walk around and grab some coffee at Futuro!). We were promptly seated, and the staff was really friendly/attentive! I ordered the blueberry pancakes and The Chop and Chick, and I enjoyed both! The blueberry pancakes were soft and filled with plenty of blueberries in each bite. The pork chop was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned, and the crispy hash browns went well with the scrambled eggs. The Chop and Chick also came with a side of buttered toast (white, brown, or sourdough depending on your preference), which was a nice complement to the meal. We have heard how great this place is for years and never tried it because we did not want to wait the hour and half that it normally takes to get a table. So, today we went on Tuesday morning since we had the day off and we got right in. We ordered the special, Biscuits and Gravy and the Hog and Chick (ham, hashbrowns, over medium eggs). The hash Browns were a grey color on both plates, cold and looked undercooked, very bland. The eggs with the Hog and Chick plate were ice cold. Like they came out of a chiller, did not eat those either. The biscuits were hard as a rock. The gravy, ham, and the sourdough toast was edible. We were shocked at how bad this meal was. The Manager came over and was upset that we didn't say anything sooner, but we had not been asked any sooner how the meal was, and frankly, I am sure our meal was not the only awful thing coming out of that kitchen, so I was uninterested in getting anything more from them. She kept saying, "I am sorry it wasn't what you expected". I told her a few times, that's an odd thing to say because what we expected was hot, cooked food, at the very least. She offered to not charge is for the meals, but I offered to pay for one. It was not about getting food for free. We will not return. After reading other reviews, we are not the first people to be served this bad, cold, undercooked food. Those hash browns are the worst food I have ever been served. WOW now I get why this place always has a massive line! I came by on a Monday at noon with two friends and was surprised to see there was a 30min wait, but it makes sense why - this place is so so delicious!! We didn't even mind the wait; we strolled around the arts district looking at some murals nearby then before we knew it, our table was ready. We were seated outside happily to enjoy the Arizona sun and was greeted by the nicest server. Once our food came out we were shocked at the massive sizes and how hot and fresh it all was! I got the Big Papa burrito without jalapeños and it was one of the biggest breakfast burritos I've ever seen. After eating as much as I could, I still had half left over to take to go! The reason for the 1 isn't necessarily because of the food. I would probably have bumped it to a 2 but the owners should know really why they deserve a 1. We put our name on the wait list after being told 20-25 minutes. Now we all l know that you should probably expect 30 minutes. We ended up waiting 40 but it gets better. We watched a woman walk up with a party of 5. After being told it was about a 40 min wait, she slipped the hostess fella a $20 to jump ahead of the line. Within 10 min he was calling her name to let her know that we was working on pushing two tables together for their party. On his walk back I called him out on his BS & said "If I slip you a $50, does that mean I get to jump the line too." His response "ha ha, maybe. I didn't keep the money though, I gave it to the other girl." After being told we still had about 7 people ahead of us, we miraculously were seated. Coincidence? I think not. I think calling him out on his BS is what got us to our table after a 40 min wait. The food wasn't even worth the wait. It reminded me of a fast food diner and we all know that food is only glorious when you're super hungover. Also, I don't know what was going on in the kitchen but they were extremely slow because once seated, we waited about 25-30 min for a scramble and pancakes. Atmosphere - The vibe from the filming of the show has been lost with the expansion.  Oh well.  The reason for the just OKAY score is that is hard to even think in the place it is so loud.  I would have loved to know what the decibels were. Food - I went with The Big Papa Burrito.  I love all types of burritos, so how can I turn a breakfast burrito.  This one was a huge burrito.  The jalapenos were fresh and on the hotter side of the Scoville scale for them.  The only down side was I had two potato wedges that were over cooked, burnt to a crisp.  I learned my lesson the first time to hunt for them.  Other potatoes were just fine.  I get the large flat top cooking style, but you also need to make sure you are rotating those bad boys out. Service - Spot on.  I asked what the ETA was on the wait list, 30 minutes, which was spot on.  They could have put menus down before we got to our tables.  We waited a bit for them.  Got the menu and drink orders taken, and after that person left another came over to take our food order.  I was still taking my Yelp menu pics.  Slow down.  I love it when I can never see the bottom of my coffee mug.  One time they came by to fill it up, it was still full from the previous time.  They did not interrupt the meal during the coffee pass by.
