Let's ship them out. Back story. A former coworker moved to the mainland so he decided to ask me to ship his mini. How he fit in that little car I will never know? We should have eaten at Mexico before he left so I could see him adjust in the booth. You guys read that review right? One of my better reviews in my opinion. Hey I'm writhing this. Anyway I'm helping him out. So it's on Sand Island Access Road. Be careful here because it seems that everyone is Mario driving way beyond the speed limit, especially those Matson shipping container trucks. TIP: this road gets backed up way early in the morning. So if you don't want to wait in traffic and have some time, drop your car off past 0900. Very little traffic and the offices are not busy. The driveway you need for vehicle drop off is right across the Water Treatment plant in the middle of the "S" turn. And just before the main Matson container truck drop off and pickup gate. This is where it gets backed up in the early morning. Remember 0900 people. Follow the path to the parking stalls and enter the building to you left. Here they collect all the paper work they need. Once that is done they will hand you an orange "ticket". A pass to get the car to the covered inspection area and also give you additional paperwork. As you leave the parking stalls there's a guard shack to the left. Here the guard collects the magical ticket and directs you to the back of the building to the covered inspection area. Park there and wait for another inspector to direct you to another building. I know this is a private company but man it felt like there was a lot of bureaucracy and Red tape just like the government. Moving on, here you give the paperwork you collected from the first building, surrender your keys, and wait for the actual inspector. The inspector made sure the doors opened to include trunk being empty, operated the windows, verified 1/4 tank of gas, and interior not ripped up. While he was walking around the car marking dings and dents, I was filming. I asked the inspector first if it was ok and he said "That's a smart idea." And I replied; " I only have smart ideas to go with the smart mouth". From there I was done, thanked the guy, a walked to the main road to wait for pickup. Total time frame from start to finish was only 20 mins. (Remember the magical hour is 0900). I spent more time waiting for my ride on the side of the road. Overall rating four stars. My car arrived with $6000 damage today. My cars front end, front wheels, and fender were crushed by a careless Matson driver. My cars has three types of warnings that you may hit something; audible beeping, camera, and the seat vibrates. Only a careless idiot could damage the car. All three warning systems had to be going off. I presume the driver was well aware of the colossal damage they did to my car. And I am very disappointed that I had to bring it up to them, not them bringing it up to me. The question which is fair to ask, how many cars per day does their employee fuck up costing Matson tens of thousands of dollars per week? The first two times I used Matson all went well. This review is for my experience dropping off my vehicle in Honolulu. Since I didn't see a review explaining how everything goes, I decided to type this as I'm waiting for my ride to pick me up. I didn't have an appointment and the third party I used to ship my car to Texas (Coastal Auto Shipping). Told me to drop off on a Monday because that's the drop off deadline for Matson (they put the cars on the ship on Thursday, apparently). I arrived a little after 7a and there was one person in front of me. If you are dropping off, you go to the white building "cashier" and the office will process you, you go to the window behind you, and you pay. They opened promptly at 8a and there were approximately 7 people behind me. So get there early if you want to go quickly. They will give you a list: you'll need your registration, Drivers License, the Matson paper with your booking number, and you'll need a letter from the lien holder (such as a Bank) allowing you to ship the vehicle. Many people behind me didn't have that, so they had to call their bank and get it. (FYI, if you're picking up, you go to the Blue building, you don't need to go to the White building) The cashier part took approximately 10 minutes. I received instructions to drive through the gate, go to the left, and park under an inspection lane, and enter the gates area. You'll have to press the red button and push the gate open. After you're in the office, stand in line, and give them the paperwork from the cashier's. They'll have you sign some paperwork, and you sit down and wait for an inspector. The inspector took me outside and inspected everything. It literally took 2 minutes (I have a 2016, and kept it well) the guy that was ahead of me had an older car and his took about 10 minutes (we ended at the same time). I was able to keep my manuals, tire iron, the rim lock bolt things (fancy terminology, I know), and other car stuff in the car. I had left my floor mats at home, so I'm not sure if you can bring them or not. I was finished with everything, at 8:21! I was so impressed. I have been with friends that have shipped their cars, and it was an all day event. I shipped my now ex-husband's car in March and it was also an all day event, and he even had an appointment. I thought everyone was so friendly and lovely. They were patient and they explained everything so well to me. It's now 842, and there's about 30 people waiting. The folks behind me that didn't have the paperwork, haven't come through yet (I heard one say her bank is faxing the letter to Matson, that's nice of them to accept a fax copy). Matson caused DAMAGE to my car during shipment as well as took 2 weeks longer to deliver my car then quoted. I worked very closely with JNL Global and Matson to deliver my car to Maui Kahului on a certain date 5/24 to have it shipped out the following day to arrive in Honolulu shipping out with in a week and delivered to Oakland on 6/9/23. They let my sit in Maui for over 2 weeks and did not ship to Honolulu as promised causing my car to be delivered a month later. In addition my car was damaged during the shipping process as out was not secured correctly. Do not do business with them as they over book under deliver and damage your vehicle. Unfortunately not a lot of options when trying to get your vehicle shipped out of port. After considerable delay trying to determine where the car actually is, the "customer service" person told me it is STILL IN HONOLULU. DO NOT USE MATSON TO SHIP YOUR CAR. I delivered my car to them in Kahului HI for shipping to Oakland CA on April 12. Estimated pickup date was May 26. The estimated pickup date given on the tracking page of their website never changed, and Matson never contacted me to say there was any problem. It is now May 25, and I called to confirm the car would be available tomorrow as planned. After considerable delay trying to determine where the car actually is, the "customer service" person told me it is STILL IN HONOLULU. Not only that, she refused even to apologize. I now have to rent a car when I had planned to have my car own available, and there is no assurance Matson will compensate me for this expense. I would have given them zero stars if that were an option. I had planned to ship my other car with them but will now use a competitor. I shipped 3 cars with this company I will never again ship with them again. If they don't do what's right and fix what was broken and stole from my Motorhome. I had a brand new generator installed professionally in my motorhome and it was stolen at the port as I dropped it off and picked it up at the port in Long Beach and picked it up in Honolulu and it was ripped out damaging my vehicle and my fully loaded truck was damaged and the side step for the lifted truck ripped off. My wife's BMW was also not treated with care or respect and was damage also on the way. I am just trying to get my generator replaced that cost $280 and they won't sant on integrity and replace it. I did not even ask for all the other damages to be covered. This shipment service is your worst nightmare. One of the shipper indicated that to pickup the car you need a Matson shipping number. Called back and was told their company uses Matson. Found out most of the shippers uses Matson. So my amazing friend who took the brunt of Matson's foolishness for me deserves a medal in the game we played to get my car from LA to Honolulu. My friend dropped me off at LAX first so I could make my five hour flight and directly afterward was going to drop off my car at the docks with Matson to ship to Honolulu. I arrived at HNL and called my friend to thank him for doing me the favor and he informed me that he was still at Matson!!!! How is that possible I asked and the following list are tips to avoid so you don't spend 5 hours at Matson like my friend did. 1) Wash your car- Upon being called for inspection my friend was informed that my car was "too dirty". He asked if he would have time to take it to a car wash and was told no! The employee processing my car gave him a bucket and pointed out a water faucet to wash the car in line. Additionally it's hilarious to me that my car was denied boarding due to its "filthy" state as we all received a free car wash upon pick up at Sand Island!!! What was the point of that?! 2) Do not wait on the outside of the building for your number to be called even though there is no space inside to do so as you will miss your number being called and have to take another one! 3) Comply with the "bolted down rule"- Do not argue with processing agent over an item that is not bolted down like your car umbrella. Just accept the fact that it will be gone and become the property of someone at the Matson LA docks. 4) Do not drop your car off after a holiday or on a Monday. Matson is ALWAYS backlogged to load their ship during these times and they chaotically try to catch up from the weekend or that holiday. Believing upon pick up that all issues would be behind me, I guessed wrong! I received an automated call from Matson informing me that my car was at Sand Island and ready for pick up. I called into the facility to confirm that and get more information about pick up processes and they stated that my car was not there. This went on for 3 days. Where did my car go for 3 days? How do you misplace 4000 lbs of car? Did the ship get lost and go to another island? Country? I guess only my car will know! I recently shipped my 2010 Volkswagen GTI from Honolulu to Seattle, where I'd fly in, pick it up, and drive it south to Portland to transfer to my son and his wife. Shipping lines serving Honolulu and the West Coast -- Horizon, Matson, and Pasha -- pointed to Matson as the only direct service to Seattle. Horizon and Pasha webpages were hard to navigate, much less get a trusty feeling, but Matson's was informative and easy to use. I also looked at delivery services that use all three carriers and got an even less comfortable feeling about using them when I could book direct service, single handling. Price differential was inconsequential. My stomach twisted, however, when I read Yelp reviews of all three carriers and delivery services. I studied Matson's on-line information for a couple weeks, called its 800 line twice for clarifying information where representatives were very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Finally, I booked it to sail on the MV Manoa, departing Honolulu on 29 Sep 2014. The car needed to be delivered to Matson's Honolulu terminal by 24 Sep for processing...clean and no more than a quarter tank of gas. It would arrive at Seattle on 4 Oct. I took that to be a fuzzy date given the vagaries of ocean shipping issues, except I started following the MV Manoa's published schedules vs actual arrivals and departures, as well as west coast ports of call, and found that Matson runs like a German railroad. I made flight and hotel reservations based on picking up the GTI on Wednesday, 8 Oct (healthy margin of error) to drive to Portland that same day. Another Yelper comment by Patrick M. stated "As long as you are prepared ahead of time (read the preparation procedures on their website) the transaction will be smooth." That's exactly what I did, overkill in every dimension. Originals and copies of paperwork, scrubbing the car's underside to ensure all dirt (that wasn't there) was removed, vacuuming the interior to ensure the Agriculture guys found no seed of any kind to reject shipment, and most of all, working it down to a quarter tank of gas, leaving a healthy reserve for Seattle. I dropped off the GTI on 23 Sep to allow for unexpected issues before the Wednesday deadline. A couple other reviewers mentioned Matson telephone and office representatives that were not helpful nor polite. However, once I got to the Matson shipping office, folks at every turn were among the nicest people I've ever worked with. First stop was a window to trade paperwork. Three minutes later I visited the cashier, 15 feet away. I then was directed to drive the GTI to the inspection area, inside the secure Matson compound, then two minutes later I was called for the actual inspection that went beautifully. Twenty minutes after arrival I was done. In other Yelp reviews you will see criticisms, polite and otherwise, of the Matson vehicle tracking system. On Wednesday, 24 Sep, the GTI was already showing in the tracking system as "Your vehicle has been received by Matson and is awaiting loading on the Manoa 302." Over the following weekend, that changed to "Your vehicle has been loaded to vessel," then on Monday it became "Your vehicle is currently in ocean transit status" (which remained the same through 3 Oct). You can also have fun while your auto is en route by tracking the ship's position on the Marine Traffic tracker ( https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ ). That website shows any ship's track in and out of port, but not real time updates while at sea. I also watched the MV Manoa sailing out early on 29 Sep by various beachfront hotels' webcams. Unfortunately the webcams I could find in Seattle were either inoperative or not aimed to pick up the MV Manoa's arrival. The Manoa arrived on Friday, 3 Oct, tracking status changed to offloaded, then available for pickup, followed by a pleasant Matson representative calling on 6 Oct to verify the GTI was available for pickup in Seattle and advise I had until 10 Oct to pick it up without port storage fees. I flew to Seattle the evening of 7 Oct. The next morning I took a town car to the Matson facility at Seattle Terminal 18, actually very simple to get to. There a pleasant representative directed me to an adjacent office, which verified paperwork, pointed me to my GTI just behind the office, told me to drive it to the front, come in with the paperwork and see them. Surprise! The only visible issue I could find was a streak of grease on the windshield. Nothing was missing. It was nearly as clean as when I dropped it off at Honolulu, only one additional mile on the odometer, the gas gauge was two hairs below a quarter tank. I returned, signed off the paperwork, and was done. Complete after 15 minutes. Given all the moving parts to this shipment, I was totally amazed at how everything came together just as planned and choreographed. Salute to the dedicated and professional people from Matson! I've used Horizon Lines to ship vehicles between HI and CA in the past but they no longer ship vehicles anymore. At least, this is what they told me in Oakland. It was a blessing in disguise because I was able to use Matson for the first time. Matson really made it easy for me to ship with them from the booking to the delivery. The reps on the phone were very helpful and made it very easy for me to book online to ship from Oakland to Honolulu. I was able to have the dealership drop off my vehicle at the docks without any problems. The goal was to have the vehicle on island by the time I land. Unfortunately due to the crazy weather and hurricanes, they had to delay shipping a week. It's not their fault and I rather have my vehicle safely here than the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. I arrived in Honolulu and didn't have to wait long before my vehicle arrived. It only took 10 days to get here from the time they left Oakland. That's hella fast! Faster than my previous shipping experiences. They made tracking very easy online and gave me a courtesy call once the vehicle was available. My vehicle arrived without any damages (no dings, dents, curbed rims, cracked windshields, etc). The staff at the Honolulu location was friendly and helpful. Waiting area was clean and in AC. Once they call your name, you get to inspect your vehicle before taking delivery to ensure no damages occurred during shipping. When you notify them that there are no damages, they go over the registration process in HI. You will get a temporary HI registration card that's valid for 30 days. Lastly, they give you a car wash coupon. My vehicle arrived a little dirty and I'm thinking due to the weather so the coupon was an unexpected plus. Never thought I'd be shipping my car. I looked on yelp and compared prices. Decided to take a chance with Matson because it had great reviews. I'm the type that worries about everything so I was in the highest stress level with packing and shipping my car. I got there early at 7am. They open at 8 but figured I'd go there early and beat traffic and get it over with. I was the second in line(white building to drop off and pay for my vehicle). They opened promptly at 8 am and this cute grandma greeted us with a smile. She took my stress level away just by a smile! Make sure you have your car registration, title of the car and ID. The process is fast. I had to go to another window to pay and Pearl was so friendly.. by then my stress level is gone. We chat briefly all the while she was so bubbly and attentive. Customer Service to perfection! After I paid, we walked out of the building where she showed me where to take my car for inspection. I waved goodbye and she wished me happiness in life. Pearl had so much aloha spirit! I didn't get the name of the sweet and kind receptionist who was the first person that opened up the door to us. Thank you for that warm smile. I almost wanted to hug you!! When I arrived at the inspection site, this awesome braddah greeted me with a smile too. He was very attentive and down to earth. We chat briefly about life. He was so full of Aloha! I'm the end, he guide me to a gate where I had to wait for an inspector. A few minutes later, yet another braddah greeted me with a smile! Good to come early for sure. He inspected my car and I pass it with flying colors! (Make sure your gas is 1/4 full or less!) I go by the book and made sure I blasted my a/c on the way there so that my tank is exactly 1/4.) What a relief. I saw braddah #1 came around to wish me well and I gave him a hug! What a wonderful gentleman you are. I had a smile on my face all the while I was there. I'm not too sure about how I wish to rate Matson, I'm quite conflicted. While they didn't do an outstanding job shipping my car, because it did yield some minor scratches, dings, and dents (which I don't think you could really argue with them to cover without fixing the entire spoiler/bumper), it was alright. The outside was reasonably clean (surprisingly!) and nothing was touched/damaged on the inside. The staff at Oakland Matson were excellent though. The same can't really be said for the Matson folks at Honolulu. They seemed a bit disillusioned with their jobs and a little uninspired. I should probably write a seperate review for the Oakland Matson facility. If you're thinking of shipping your car through Matson, I would recommend it. As long as you're okay with minor dings...it happens I suppose, just like when you go surfing right? The booking process online was super simple and made things really easy for me in my stressful move back home. The tracking feature was great and was updated promptly. In adddition, I found that the Horizon Lines website was so much harder and difficult to navigate.. it was way more user friendly and easier for me to use Matson's website where all my questions were answered through the FAQ page and by calling the 1-800 number. Another thing to note between HL and Matson, if you're a college student and you don't own the car (say your parent's name is on the title), you need a notarized letter for HL in order to ship it. Not needed for Matson if you are shipping from mainland to hawaii. This made things super easy and simple for me, one less thing to worry about. The only bad thing to note besides the dings is that an email or courtesy call didn't come at all and I actually was informed of my car's 'available to pickup' status through checking the status page like an obsessed freak (I was excited okay?! lol.) After seeing the horror stories at both Matson and HL on Yelp, I felt it was pretty much pick your poison, so I picked Matson. I used them to ship my car from Honolulu to Long Beach. The outbound part in Honolulu was fine. The only bad thing I can say is that I didn't have a ride to the airport (to pick up my rental) and ended up walking back to Nimitz. Matson has a really long drive way and I was pretty peeved that the over weight dock workers refused when asked to give me lift to the main road in their little golf carts. Ok. Picking up in Long Beach was awful. The lot is small and cramped with the office occupying a trailer. It took me about 1.5 hours of waiting before I finally got my car. There were 1 to 2 workers assisting 20 customers. Most folks were dropping off. The big problem was that the office and staffing levels were not sufficient. Not that Matson needs to care at all about this. They are a protected duopoly. More money for the Jones Act protected shipping lobby. The only aloha at this place is found in the name: they call it the Aloha Lot. The one saving grace was that my car wasn't damaged unlike the the poor guy in front of me. read more

Waiting outside and separating those who did not quarantine upon arrival to the island even if you are vaccinated and/or negotiable covid test. As many of you know, my fiancee and I are moving to GA. We actually booked a third party shipper to get our car from CA to GA. Matson is the shipper we used for our car going from HI to CA. It was a neat experience but pretty smooth. Our third party shipper already informed us of what we needed to bring. They have certain hours for drop off so make sure to double check. I believe there's an hour they don't accept drop off (probably for lunch). Anyways. I was told to drop it off before 3pm. We still had last minute errands so ended up showing up at 1:15pm ish. It's both our first times so we aren't sure where to go. If you drop off, use the building on the left. Stand in line for delivery. When we showed up it was quite crowded. The line was building up on both sides and just seem chaotic but the line moved quickly. After you check in, if you owe money you get in line for cashier's window to pay. Once you pay you'll be processed and sent to the building behind to get inspected. We waited maybe 30 minutes in total from delivery to check in. By the way, don't be b*tches to the people. They're just doing their jobs. If your car has multiple people on the title or registration you need to have their IDS or a picture of it. They even accept emails. Don't yell at them!! People are so hell-ish the day we went. Anyways after you get your pass. You drive past the gate area, park your car in one of the inspection areas. Go inside and they check you in. You wait for them to call your name and you go inspect. The lady told us only one person was allowed to go so my fiancee went. It was pretty quick like 10-15 minutes or so. If you need your car shipped from Hawaii to the mainland and vice versa just use Matson to do it. They are a reliable source and they are pretty quick. Basically you call, book your car (can be done in the same day) and then drive it down to the Matson dock and turn it in. You pay, go through the inspection with the inspector and then they take it from there. Pretty painless procedure. The whole process takes about 2-3 weeks depending on where you're going to. If you want your household items shipped though they do not come and take it from your home. You have to bring it down to the pier and load the container yourself -- kind of a drag really. Currently, it costs $975 to ship your car from Hawaii to the West Coast of the US. read more

When I shipped my vehicle, you come up to an area and someone will ask you if you've quarantined for 14 days. Please keep this in mind if doesn't apply to you and just let the representative know. Then they'll direct you to a room to get your paperwork squared away. Pick up and drop off is simple. You'll go to the lot, meet another representative and show you where to park or pick up your vehicle. Then you'll go back inside, show your paperwork and then proceed to drive off the lot to have your papers verified a final time. I was so worried about getting my car shipped with them, especially thinking about how much it was going to cost me, but I was so wrong. From the moment I walked in to get my paper work checked out and make the payment all the way to inspecting the car and leaving it with them, their service was excellent. I booked my shipping reservation a week prior and the lady on the phone was on point with every information she gave me. Best place to ship your car. And the service is great! Only issue is that people who aren't prepared. Gotta have proper paperwork filled out and have proper identification. Also gotta have less than 1/4 tank of gas or your car won't be shipped. When picking up vehicles, be prepared to have the paperwork esp. If you have to make a claim in case of flat tire, scratches, or dead battery. Or worse, no gas! read more

I booked in transport on August 13th for my customer to deliver her vehicle to the port in Hi. Customer dropped off the vehicle, cleaned, no scratches or dents on the vehicle. Their website claimed the vehicle would be at their port in CA on August 28th. On August 26th I notified them we had a driver picking up the vehicle on the 28th when the vehicle was scheduled to arrive at the CA port. Matson notified me that the vehicle will be delayed over a month because they decided to remove all ships from HI. No one notified me of the change when they should and need to. The date of arrive to the CA port changed to September 12th. I emailed them a day before to advise the name and company of the driver who will be picking up. They replied that they updated the order but come to find out they didnt. Driver arrived at the port early in the morning to pick up the vehicle and was denied because they hadnt updated the order. Poor driver had to wait 2 hours for them to release the vehicle to them when in fact he shouldnt have waited. I already advised Matson of the new driver and they claimed they updated the order. Driver picked up the vehicle, took photos of the vehicle to mark all the dents and scratches on the vehicle to cover his butt as well as all parties. He has the legal right to take photos and mark the scratches and dents he sees before touching the vehicle. Driver delivered the vehicle to the customer and upon washing and cleaning of the vehicle the customer noticed multiple scratches and dents that werent there before Matson touched the vehicle. I contacted the driver immediately to find out what happened. Come to find out Matson damaged the vehicle while in their care for over a month and will not pay the customer for the damages. Ive attached the email that one of their representatives wrote me. Please read what stupid comments they wrote back. They wont pay for the damages and are claiming you cant take photos at their port because they dont want to be blamed for their mistakes. DO NOT USE MATSON. Ive had problems with them for over 5 years now. Their service used to be good 5 years ago but since than its been nothing but problems, issues and terrible service. "I am sending you a copy of the Matson auto survey signed and delivered in Long Beach, California. The document is signed by the driver as "no additional exceptions reported at delivery". I read your email explaining the difficulties you have experienced in the delay of receiving the vehicle on Long Beach and the email forwarded from $%#&@ Transport. The auto carrier did not follow the posted instruction at the terminals, taking pictures  is not allowed. The driver did not alert the Matson clerk of the damages they are claiming and signed our delivery survey as no damages were reported to Matson. We are unable to consider these damages outlined in the SAP Transport's Bill of Lading. The driver's paperwork is not an acceptable form of reporting damages. Regarding the delay in receiving the vehicle in Long Beach. Our Bill of Lading does not guarantee service. At time of booking an estimated time of arrival at destination is provided. However, our Bill of Lading excludes service delays. We have no alternative but to decline the claim in its entirety and close our file. In addition to the delivery survey. I paid to have my car shipped from Nawiliwili Harbor to the mainland. They told me over the phone that it needed to be cleaned, so I washed it the night before. When I got to the port, the man reached under the tire wells and found gritty mud, not surprisingly since it had been raining all morning. He said it wouldn't pass the agricultural inspection. I found a hose and sprayed under each tire well and then returned. To my surprise, there was still a little mud, so I tried to wipe it off with a rag. The man seemed okay with that, but three hours later we were called and told our car did not pass the inspection. We had to go back and pick up our car, and now we have to wait an additional week to ship it. If the ag inspection is really that rigorous (I can't imagine how the ferry was supposed to work), they should make it a lot clearer during the phone conversation. Also, they should tell you the focus will be under the tire wells, as that is not a normal place to wash. Second, since this has to be an issue with nearly every car, they should have a hose there to help with minor issues. Instead, we have to wait here an additional week, and spend an extra week in Oakland. It will cost us several hundred, if not a thousand additional dollars. This was the opposite of customer service. I own a 1966 mustang, and just had it restored on the mainland prior to shipping here to Honolulu. Of course, after dropping all that change into the car, I was deeply concerned with its care during transit on a boat across the Pacific Ocean. Insert MATSON and its amazing team(s). Their website is easy to navigate, their customer service has always been top notch, and the whole process, while at times nerve-wracking, from port to port, took only 10 days. I dropped off my car in Seattle, WA on a Wednesday. I was told Thursday afternoon is the deadline to have cars processed for shipping on Saturday. Once the car was dropped off at the port, tracking the vehicle was a cinch. Not only was I able to determine the name of the shipping vessel that was carrying my car, but through further research, I was able to actually track the ship via satellite. Once the car had reached Hawaii, it was only a few more days before I received the email that told me my car was ready to be picked up. I left work immediately to go get it. I walked into the office on a Tuesday morning, and there was nobody there. I was promptly helped by some friendly workers, and was shown to my car for a visual inspection prior to having the authorization to leave the lot. Of course, my car was dirty (they're shipped in an open container on the deck of the ship). MATSON gives you a coupon for a free car wash at a local car wash/gas station that has no attachment to any car and has no expiration date, which is nice. I've read some reviews of people receiving their vehicles only to find out that the vehicle was driven more miles than was necessary, and of course, I was concerned that would be the case with my classic car. I had taken a picture of the odometer when I dropped off the car, and found that only one mile was added to the car, so no worries there. All in all, I am very pleased with my experience, and should I need to do it again, I will certainly use MATSON. read more

My truck showed up with a fecal log and many smears baked into my back seat. It looked like someone folded the back seat down on it and then tried to quickly scrape it out the door leaving the disturbingly smelly stains and one chunk hidden in the crevice. I just shipped a Tesla model X from Oakland to Kauai and found that due to the very long time in transit the battery has gone almost completely dead while the car sits in the port for a week in Honolulu waiting to ship on to Kauai. Matson will not charge the battery nor allow anyone else to charge the battery while the car sits and the battery drains. Matson employees have told me they have had many problems with electric cars and are not prepared to handle them. When my car finally arrives on Kauai I will have to have it hauled by a tow service to a charge station which will be needlessly expensive and a total waste because of Matson's outdated and unhelpful policies. All they need to do is have car owners sign a liability waiver and plug their cars in to a simple 120v wall plug when needed and save a huge nightmare. This clear lack of care and lack of updated service is terrible. When I called Matson Customer Service the officious agent hung up on me as I asked her for suggestions how I could get help before the obvious disaster of dead battery happens when the car finally arrives after more than 3 weeks after shipping. If you need to ship a vehicle, DO NOT use Matson! They'll run you around like a damn fool after you've been given this pre drop off list of things to make sure are done and ready for shipping and then surprise you upon drop off with brand new red flags that COULD HAVE BEEN DONE prior to dropping off had you already known what to expect. Terrible people, terrible company. Update: When we received our truck it had some nice deep gouges in the passenger side that the driver swore was already there... Clearly I know my own vehicle.
