This company gave a window of 10 am to 12 pm. I called at 11:15 to make sure I was on their calendar as I hadn't received a call and was assured that the driver would call me 30 minutes before arriving. 12:45 still no call, no show. I called them around 1pm to cancel the service call because I couldn't keep waiting on them and they acted as if it didn't even matter they wasted my whole morning. So unprofessional. I had the complete opposite experience of most people on here it seems. I called a couple other companies and they were all booked out a couple of days, and their prices seemed to me to be very high. I called Mathis & Sons and they were able to come out the same day, and the price was very reasonable! Kenny, called ahead of time to let me know he was on his way. I made an appointment to get my septic tank pumped and the window for their arrival was 11am-1pm. At 1pm we called to see if they were on the way and they said it was taking longer than expected at their first appointment and that they'd be at our place by 3:30pm. 3:30pm rolls around and now their truck is broken so they are unable to make it to our house that day. Next he asked for our credit card number so that he could charge for the service he didn't provide and said that he'd pump the tank the next day. Not only did he completely waste my day/time, but I think it's incredibly shady that he wanted to charge us full price if his truck is "broken". Please look elsewhere, this company cannot be trusted. read more

I was selling a home and needed to have the septic inspected and pumped. I had the map where the septic was supposed to be. One of the workmen came out and couldn't locate it. I contacted the office and spoke with Johnnie who sent out several other workmen the next day as well as another owner, Jeff. They had to use a camera to locate the tank which wasn't anywhere near where it was supposed to be. They had to dig down 4' to find the tank. The long and the short of it was they found the tank, added risers so to clean it wouldn't involve digging down 4' and inspected the tank. Yes, it cost more than the original estimate, but it took 2 days, 3 men and the boss. All is well. Thanks, guys. read more

Aug 2020: These guys were amazing! This was our first drain field replacement, and with a 1 acre yard full of sprinkler heads/ pipes and well electric running through the field (somewhere underground) we were super nervous about what damage replacement would look like. we flagged the sprinkler heads in the area to help the diggers. Pedro (over 20 years experience digging drain fields) was ABSOLUTELY amazingly careful with the tractor. Even careful around my mothers little tree, sparing it. He went VERY slow, and took off the top layer of the ground until he spotted a pipe...Manny was right there to cut, and cap off the pipes for us. They both did an excellent job, and our field was really amazing afterwards. We scheduled our lawn guy to come the very next day, to re-pipe/connect the water lines and well electric, before they covered the field after inspection. I could not recommend a better company! Ask for Pedro and Manny... they truly care about your yard. Ed did the covering back up, and he was equally careful about filling it, and took extra special care to protect my mother's "memorial" tree that was 1 foot away from the drainfield. I wish zero stars were an option. If you want to get ripped off, call these guys. They did a routine septic pump out at my place a couple months ago, but only from the back of the tank since they did not want to deal with some tree roots on the front. I started having backing up issues in the house for the first time ever a few weeks later, and the owner Jeff came out and said my 11 year old drain field was shot (you can general expect 20-30 years on one), and I needed to spend $4300 to replace it. Thankfully, sticker shock led me to get a second opinion. Enter honest and reputable Company B. They said that the tank levels into the drain field looked appropriate and were puzzled why the front of the tank was not opened by Mathis at the first visit. Yes there were some roots there to dig through, but company B says this happens and you just need to dig through them. So I call Mathis back out to open the front side, which they did, and they discovered there were a lot of tree roots creeping into the tank which caused the back up into the house. They pull a few roots out, and then say it is too big a job, and they need $1600 to dig out the top of the tank, open it and remove all the roots. Again this number seems over the top. So I called Company B to come back out the same day. They charge me $180 to clear out all the roots and it takes roughly 30 minutes. Mathis & Sons could have just done this easily (and they charged me $125 just to dig up the front opening). So to recap, they did not complete the initial job properly, tried to get me to spend $4300 on a system I do not need AND would not have even fixed my issue. Then they offered again to grossly overcharge for a root removal service. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. These guys are shady and do not deserve your honest business. read more

Do not use this people!! They did the septic inspection for our home we were purchasing and according to them the septic was perfectly fine... That was a LIE! We had been having issues since we moved in the house with the septic. Constant backups, water overflowing you name it. It wasn't until we found a good HONEST company that we were told that our pump was bad and it had not been working for a long time and needed to be replaced. They let us know that it was something that should have been immediately identified as soon as an inspection was being done. So clearly this company is dishonest and only cares about taking your money. The new company we found even told us that they had just finished fixing a job that mathis and son had messed up. So do yourself a favor and don't trust them atleast not for a home inspection. read more

If I could leave less than 1 star I would. This is the WORST most DISHONEST septic company I have ever dealt with. I had two of their employees (Rob and Brad) out to a home that we are trying to purchase for a routine pump out and inspection. Within 10 minutes they approach my husband and I to tell us that the drain field on the property is "shot" and that it needs to be replaced, a $5150.00 expense. Upon speaking with them further, the one employee, looks at us and says "you know these people only paid $180k for this house so they are making a ton of money off of you, have them pay for this"...I thought that was highly unethical that they had taken the time to research the property ahead of time and go as far as finding out what the current homeowners paid. Fast forward to telling the current homeowners that their drainfield was in need of replacement. They were a bit baffled because they maintain their system and have never had any issues...so they decided to have a second opinion. This time they hired Advanced Septic and discovered that not only are Mathis & Sons a bunch of scam artists, they didn't even do their job. They didn't open both tanks for the system, nor did they clean the filter. The djainfield is completely fine and operating at full capacity. MATHIS & SONS ARE A BUNCH OF DISHONEST SCAM ARTISTS PREYING ON PEOPLE WHO DO NOT KNOW ANY BETTER!!!! read more

It's a scam. I called for a pump and the owner came out and wrote me an estimate for a entirely new septic tank. I would have never thought to question his expertise until he asked how did I find him and did I read his "wonderful" reviews. I called another company out and they told me my system was fine and the problem was as simple as some roots on the front. If I listened to John, it would have been a $3,500 job. There was supposed to be a lifetime warranty on the tank and there isn't. Associate came 2 hours earlier than appointment time UNANNOUNCED. I wasn't ready and didn't get the chance to wear PPE. Associate WAS NOT wearing a mask nor was practicing social distancing when talking to customer which is a violation of the governor's mandatory mask order. I haven't been outside at all. Everything is delivered and I'm working from home. If I get COVID-19, it will be more than likely because of this company who don't exercise COVID-19 safety and precautions. Associates need only to wear a mask when talking to customers. They can take it off when the customer is away while they're working. I called to express my dissatisfaction. As a business who represent your associate who just came unannounced, the tone was definitely not apologetic. General manager and customer service representative extremely rude when dealing with customers. I was angry because I was unprepared and exposed. If you are living with an elderly who are high risk, you probably will understand the weight of my issue with your overall onsite service and the manner you handled my complaint. If you value your property you will not use this company. They are the most CORRUPT, DECEITFUL, UNSCRUPULOUS company I have ever done business with. Craig the salesman...very good at his job. My husband is a disabled veteran, Craig said we take care of our Military we are one of the only septic companies that offer a Military discount in the central Florida area. After reading the information I questioned Craig about the possible damage to the sprinkler system during the excavation and installation he assured me that yes there could possibly be some damage but it was unlikely since they would send a company out to flag the property and any damage that may occur would be minimal. I trusted this Man and what I received in return was my property being DESTROYED. I completely understand that some damage might occur, but these guys went at this like they were clearing land, I have no idea why they even bothered to have the property flagged. They used a back hoe and ripped out all 5 zones without a care and tore up every single bit of my lawn, it was very late in the day when they got started and they were probably making up for lost time. I asked them to stop so my brother could remove the solenoids and mark the zones but they acted like they didn't understand english. Days 2 through 6 big open hole in my yard not one word from this company. On 2/28/2019 some one texted me that they would be there to fill in the hole, he showed up at around 5:30 pm when it began to get dark I questioned how he would keep working in the dark he said no its fine I have a light and promptly tore out my main water line at 9 pm, he went back to his office and denied doing it to Marie. (office Manager) The next day after speaking with her (Marie) she promised to send a plumber to repair the water line, that never happened I was cursed out by Jeff the owner and left for days with no water until I could get someone out at my expense to make the repair. To date my sprinkler system is destroyed I have no lawn at all. They cracked my sidewalk in two places that will also need repair. They were drinking on the job my daughter took pics of the empty beer cans. I only wish I could give them minus stars that's how awful they are. read more

Honest, reliable and proud of their work. Owner operator, Jeff Mathis, responded to my Sunday morning call. 8 months after having a new drain field installed by Mathis & Sons I was having a problem with our tank backing up. As it turned out it was the old filter (not installed by Mathis) that caused the problem. Still Jeff drained our tank and fixed the problem all with a pleasant attitude & free of charge. We used this company for an inspection for a home in Kissimmee, FL. Their report stated that we had 1-2 feet of sand at the base of our tank and that the leach lines were in need of replacement - thousands of dollars in repairs needed. We obtained 2 other licensed inspections, both independently concluded that there were no issues with the leach lines and that there was no sand in the tank. We have been in the home for over 2 months with no issues whatsoever. From our experience, company is either dishonest or has incompetent workers. Although this may be an isolated incident, please be aware of such practices. read more

I called them and was told of the day that they were coming. Plus my front yard now looks like a beach since they over purchased sand and just flattened it over the little bit of lawn that i had. Telephone call was nice. Showed up on-time. Initial cost of 260 was fair. Wanted 85 to clean out the filter which is unbelievably expensive and should be part of the service. It literally was a small plastic filter that took all of 2-3 min to unscrew and spray with a hose. Since I sprayed the "filter", I didn't get charged. Also wanted to up charge an additional 140 because of additional "sludge"...lol Unfortunately, they had me at a disadvantage by already being in the middle of the project so the 140 was not an option. Watching them put the lids back on my tanks was painful to watch and made it seem extremely hard to put back on blaming all the chips on the lid on the last company that was out. Wrong, I watched them as I these guys and no they didn't chip the lids. One lid was with concrete powder that barely covered the crack and the other was concrete powder and a black tar sealant. Not sure why they were sealed differently. Then said I had a problem with the leech field since the second tank was full and it would be 4000 more. They were even more than willing to take half now and half later. I should of just waited for my normal septic company who was backlogged at the time. read more
