On installation day the office called to confirm I was ready to support. Installers Wayne and Zack arrived on time, worked efficiently and carefully to avoid damage and keep work area clean. Removal of old unit was unusually difficult, requiring some disassembly of cabinetry which was done carefully and reassembled afterward. Wayne and Zack cleaned all areas affected and new unit solves the problem. This is my second experience with Harvey baker Plumbing and I expect to call on them for a much larger future job (decommissioning septic tank/field and connection to city sewer). I signed up for Pro-Tech's home program, expecting reliable maintenance for my A/C, plumbing, and…read moreelectrical systems. The program promised two A/C inspections annually, plus a free plumbing or electrical inspection. Initially, things seemed fine. The first A/C inspection rated all green (their color system: green = good, yellow = moderate, red = bad), though they sent a tech and a salesperson who tried to upsell an LED light for the A/C. I questioned the tech about our system using two air filters and was told only one was needed at the wall return--later proven incorrect by a competitor. The plumbing inspection passed without issues or upselling, and the second A/C inspection was mostly green with some yellow due to a "dirty" unit. I renewed the program after a year at a lower rate, which included another free inspection. I chose electrical. The Pro-Tech tech claimed our panel was "too hot" and quoted $4,000 to replace all breakers, including one that kept tripping. A retired master electrician later confirmed only the single breaker needed replacing, and our 7-year-old wiring was fine--Pro-Tech's quote was wildly inaccurate. The third A/C inspection was the final straw. Despite passing twice in the prior 12-14 months, the tech and salesperson claimed our 7-year-old system had catastrophic issues: mold or "biological growth", corrosion, leaks, faulty wiring, a cracked drain pan, and bad ductwork, among others. They pushed for a full system replacement, quoting $14,000-$23,000. A competitor's inspection revealed our dual-filter setup was intentional due to two air returns, contradicting Pro-Tech's earlier advice. The use of one filter also led to our interior unit being far too dirty. The competitor, along with a third A/C company, found no major issues with our system. Pro-Tech's aggressive upselling and inaccurate assessments wasted our time and trust. Two simple fixes--a breaker and filter setup--were blown into unnecessary, expensive proposals. I tried contacting Pro-Tech three times to discuss this but couldn't reach the right person, and a promised callback from a manager never materialized. I'm beyond disappointed and would not recommend Pro-Tech to anyone.
