Beware of this moving company (Master Movers). They advertise their company as family owned. They are a front for Bison Relocation, Inc. This is our story: Contacted Master Movers and Jeff was our estimator. I had previously gotten a quote from a local moving company who came to our house to quote our international move. It was high so I started shopping around and thinking I dotted all my i's and crossed all my t's was all set. NOPE! I gave Jeff info from the local quote and he quoted me on cubic feet instead of weight like local company did. BIG MISTAKE on my part because his quote for cubic feet was HALF of our moving load, but he led us to believe that was the whole quote in cubic feet. Needless to say when the loaders came, we found out why they had two 16' trucks AFTER they loaded the first truck. Then he showed us the paper work saying we only paid for one truck. Jeff had already said we were getting a semi truck to cover all of our move. Needless to say, Jeff or anyone else from Master Movers was not answering our repeated efforts to contact them. The head person (loader) contacted his boss at Bison Relocation (first time that name came up) and told him our situation. We ended up paying what our local moving company had quoted! I was also concerned that our loads were going to get reloaded into a bigger truck. I might also add the head loader guy said they use two smaller trucks because of the size of a semi truck that might not have room, etc. I believe this is their way of cheating you because they know you will have to load the other truck! Anyway giving credit to the loaders as they were professional and did a great job. I cannot give credit to the loaders who loaded the semi. Most of our boxes were delapidated and my rocking chair was busted beyond repair. Also tall lampstands were a casualty. A steel footboard frame also came apart. Beward of how they list your boxes as the head loader basically just count the boxes and doesn't list the room or items marked on the box. Kudos to the driver of the semi truck that delivered the furniture as he stayed to set up bed frames and recliners. Not sure why he didn't make sure our load was more secure. We are just thankful it got here. This was the first cross country move we've had to do and we are senior citizens, so needless to say, we were so tired and just wanted/needed to get this move done. We were definitely taken advantage of. I will have to give this a one star rating in order to post but they do not deserve any stars! read more

STAY AWAY FROM THEM. We experienced the same thing everybody else is saying. We contacted a company out of Florida since that's where we were moving and we thought we would be getting freedom express. Instead, we got master movers. We had a binding contract with the first company and then master Movers came in and had us sign something else but their Wi-Fi kept going in and out so we could never read what we were supposed to be signing. They stated that we would get a copy of everything which we never did and they said that we are now in a non-binding contract. we moved out June 6 and it is now July 5 and we still are playing phone tag. Ben, the owner/manager lied to us repeatedly about the date of our delivery. They picked up June 6 and it's now July 5 and we still don't have a date. If you look at all the negative comments, and then see what Ben says. It's the same song and dance, I'm sorry you weren't 100% satisfied. How many negative reviews does he have??? And here's the real kicker you don't know that Master Movers are coming until they show up at your door so I had no time to do any kind of research. I had no time to check them out for references. Had I done that and had been aware that there was going to be them coming. I would've never had him come . KEEP AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN. You will see where he has come back and said that I said the apartment wasn't ready. HE told ME to get a storage place in Orlando 10x10 and the things were to be TUESDAY!!! MORE LIES FROM HIM. Maybe KARMA is getting to you Ben. First a "sick child", then Broken truck, then weather, what's next?? ZOMBIES??? We said we'd pay express charge and you told us to wait just this morning. I have ALL the emails, read more

Used these guys 5 months ago for a local move. They promised they would wrap any and all glass objects and fragile items. They didn't wrap a single item. Scratched our new kitchen table, left giant gouges in wall decor, ripped our new couch because of poor loading on truck. While unloading they put numerous holes in the walls of our new house. One guy kept taking hit shirt off and cussing about his boss while unloading which I just didn't think was professional. Have called customer service 2 times a month since this started and keep being told it'll be handled in a week, emailed customer service and can't even get a response. Cost us over $700 to get the walls, and couch fixed. The wall decor is destroyed and the kitchen table can be touched up but can't be fixed completely. If you expected good customer service and a good move don't call these guys. read more

This is the worse company. Moved from Indiana to Florida 9 months ago. Took this company over 6 weeks to deliver . Did not receive all our belongings so another trip. Still not everything. Almost all my belongings were damaged. They also stoled several of our things. When I called, they told me it happens. This move cost us over 8k plus what I had to replace belongings. Sir, your company is a thief. I've called and email and you won't answer. Karma! read more

One of the worst experiences I have had in my life. There are multiple issues during the whole move that I'll outline: 1. Original quote was only a third of what I was charged at the end. (basically just lied to me) 2. Delivery truck came FOUR days after when was originally promised. 3. Broken items during the move (plates, dishes, a desk) 4. Boxes were missing that were supposed to be dropped off (said that they can't find them and don't know where they are) 5. Lack of transparency and last minute communication was everywhere during the process. I'm usually not one to leave reviews, but this was such a horrible, horrible experience that I don't want anyone to fall into the same trap that I did. PLEASE PLEASE go with anyone else. Such a terrible experience. read more

Company owner says that they did an "EXTENSIVE" search in their follow-up to my review. I 10000% made the giant mistake of booking them for a move out (take our furniture and items out of our apartment and load the truck. They were supposed to be at my old apartment complex in Atlanta (Skylark) in the month of July at 8AM, and no one showed up until 11:30AM. The three "movers" were all high as a kite, moved slower than molasses, and then expected me to tip them. I called their numbers repeatedly all morning and all I got was "there's traffic". It doesn't and DIDN'T take 3.5 hours to get from Norcross, GA (where they said they were coming from) to Southeast Atlanta. They clearly woke up late, smoked weed, took their sweet time picking up the other guys for the job, and moseyed down to my old apartment. STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE. read more

Run far far away. Ben the owner is a piece of work. Terrible mistake. Paid a deposit during booking with a card. I was then told, if I used a credit card after the movers arrive, it would be a 4% extra charge, so I paid before they arrived with same card they kept on file. As soon as they pulled up I had concerns. I asked them to take extra pro caution with my furniture because it was new. The movers assured me my things would be wrapped and protected. As they were moving my things, I heard a box fall. I also watch as my dressers bounced roughly around on the dollies as they were taking it down stairs. They were very rough and careless with my items. They half wrapped my furniture (pictures attached) and when I asked why it wasn't being fully wrapped, I was told it wasn't necessary. I asked if they could get in touch with the owner. The owner was very rude. I told him I was very concerned. First I expressed that I didn't want any surprises when paying for additional time to please keep me informed. Then I asked if he could please tell his worker to be more careful as they were being to rough. I asked him why weren't their straps on the dolly to secure the items and he had some excuse and seemed to be irritated by my concerns. Soon after the movers approached me and says the owner asked them to take a picture of my card. I declined and ask them to get him on the phone. I asked owner why was the picture necessary, explained it the same card that was charge originally and that any additional hours could be charged to the same card they had on file. He argued that he wanted a picture because I could've found the card on the streets somewhere. I became very offended by his comments and attitude towards me. He then demanded the guys to unload my things out of the truck and told me I was still going to pay. I basically paid for my new furniture to get beat up and damaged. They put the wrong tape directly on my furniture and caused damage. This man kept all of my money and I still had to call out another company to move me. read more

This company is complete and utter trash! Please stay away. The owner and company are SCAMMERS! Broke $2,000 worth of furniture and lost two large boxes. Their solution was to offer me $90. This was after my bill tripling from the "quote." Do yourself and your wallet a favor and look anywhere else!!! Notice all of the complaints about this "business." It's not coincidence. The owner tries to respond to these claims by blaming the consumer. How are all of these dissatisfied customers to blame? I wish I had seen these reviews before I dealt with this company. Also, I have NEVER written a bad review before for a company. This company's lack of integrity, however, made it necessary for me to speak up in order to warn future consumers. read more

Initially, I booked with Master Movers, through a broker based in Florida. I did this because of how much cheaper it was than booking directly. My quoted estimate for the move was $1771.26 from the broker. The move was tiny--less than 200 cubic feet, 26 items in total. At the beginning things were great! I had frequent contact with the broker and the actual moving company, Master Movers. However, the first hiccup was when Master Mover's arrived to pick up my items. 3 gentlemen arrived in a marked truck. They tagged everything, loaded it. This part was great. However, the guy taking care of the paperwork did not really know what we he was doing. I never received a copy of the contract I had signed. Additionally, there was absolutely no communication regarding payment methods. I was expecting to charge the amount to my credit card (for my own protection), but they arrived and demanded that I pay about $1200 in cash. Obviously, I'm not walking around with this kind of money in cash. Even if I was, I would be very skeptical of forking it over. Furthermore, they never communicated that I may be charged additional fees for things like a long-carry. I was charged an extra $300 because the distance from the truck to my front door was more than 75 feet. I'm not complaining about the charge, I'm complaining about them not communicating that I would have been charged that amount. After the pickup, Master Movers stored my belongings at their warehouse in Indianapolis. My items were there for about 2 months. I was told this facility was climate controlled, and that appears to be true. I made two payments throughout the summer and only received confirmation of my payments after calling multiple times. I received my confirmation that my items were ready for delivery about 2 weeks after I made my final payment. This is unacceptable. Although my items were stored at no extra charge, it took forever for them to deliver them to me at my new home. Master Movers advertises that items are delivered within 21 business days of the first available date. I communicated to Ben that my first date was July 31st. I did not receive my items until September 6. I also communicated to Ben multiple times that an 18-wheeler would not fit inside of my apartment complex. But, they sent this 18-wheeler anyway. So I ended up paying another $150 long-carry fee. Besides this, I played phone tag with Ben for about a month. At some point I thought I had fallen victim to a moving scam because of the lack of communication. But, as I said above, I did finally receive my items. The only thing that eased this concern was seeing that my items had been at the Master Movers facility for much of the summer. I highly recommend using an Apple AirTag. They will not provide individualized tracking. None of my items were damaged--likely because I packed them well. However, I did witness the movers at the final end load my $2500 temperpedic mattress on top of a car to move it. This is unacceptable for a company that claims to "pamper your possessions." All in all, I am happy that I received my items in good condition. However, the back and forth with multiple companies, the lack of communication, extra charges, and pure bullshit made this move more complicated than it needed to be. I would recommend you use this company only if you book directly and can pay for the express shipping option.Otherwise, you'd be better off loading your stuff in a UHAUL and driving it yourself. That's stressful too, but at least you know where your items are and your personal insurance will cover damages and you'll have your stuff when you arrive to your new location. read more

We've Moved 5 different states to 8 different houses, so have quite a bit of experience with moving and never in our lives (moving companies or otherwise) have we been more sickened with a business operation. Just wanted to further inform anybody who might be looking into using this company about this sad scam Master Movers is running and the break of contract that occurred. We were told we would have 3 capable trained people to perform the move. They sent 3 to load up, but only sent 2 people to unload (and capable is a laughable adjective to describe their work performance.) It took about 8 hours for them to unload and they showed up later than what they told us, leaving at 1:30 in the morning in the middle of a work week. I called 5 times the week prior to move to try and make sure what exactly needed to be boxed up and how it needed to be boxed up, but they didn't answer, so when they showed up some things were not boxed up "properly" (to which they told me was FINE, and that they wouldn't charge us any extra packing material and loaded it up as I had it...little did we know that they take the truck they load up your stuff in to another warehouse type place before they reload in onto another truck to be moved and unloaded at your house. When our stuff arrived they had went through our labeled boxes and "dumped" our belongings into their own boxes. Our books and other things were literally moved and dumped into huge boxes of their own. And we were then charged over $1000 for "packing supplies." When they arrived we spent a couple of hours before actually signing the contract of a blank cubic footage document because they wouldn't start without you signing that, but there was no official way of knowing exactly how much space we would need on the truck without loading it up to see. Danny reassured us that he had done this for 20 years and he had a pretty good idea of what it would be and that he would update us every 400 cubic feet of loading. While loading he kept reassuring us that it was actually going to be less than what they had estimated (so we wouldn't back out right then and take our loss.) ****They charged us a full truck, but we have video proof of it not only being not full, but had SOMEONE ELSE'S belongings on the truck as well (whom they also charged more space to them than what they had taken up we later found out.) Ben from Master Movers unprofessionally sent another customers full contract with ALL their personal info to our email. Master movers informed us that the reason that they had kept all our belongings and didn't ship it to us immediately like they told us they would over the phone was because they were waiting for another shipment for the same area so they could ship both customers at the same time. We called weekly asking if they were coming and they told us that they couldn't yet because they needed another shipment. After they finally arrived with our belongings, about 50% of our brand new expensive furniture was damaged badly, my late baby daughters memorial belongings were misplaced and my husbands brand new unopened birthday box of an oculus didn't arrive. Blankets and other things were wet (although we were told they were kept in a temperature regulated storage) So we called the other customer (because they had sent us his info) thinking that maybe he had got one of our boxes. He unfortunately said no, but that he would be looking for it and that he also was missing $150,000 worth of inherited jewelry and was taking legal action against them because they had had his stuff for over 2 months, but refused to send until he threatened to take legal action, so Master movers lied when they told us that they could not send us our stuff because they didn't have another Colorado shipment because he lived close to us. They didn't set up all our stuff that they had taken apart, and they left unlabeled screws and nails everywhere. There were bent metal bed frames that they didn't even fully screw in, so I had to do it all over again after they left. They spilled nails all over our house and driveway, so I had to spend a day sweeping and searching for all of them so not to get a flat tire or one stuck in my family's foot. They left huge holes in the wall of our rent house we moved out of, they left cigarettes and trash everywhere I had to clean up, and just decided not to load up a few things without telling us the reason. Ben, the boss, from Master Movers lied and texted us that he was from American movers because if we would have looked up the reviews oN Master Movers and seen that they had 60/65 1 star reviews complaining we would NOT have used Master Movers ourselves. And we pray no one else gets scammed by these people. read more

Sales person was just great, Good quote etc, Drivers showed up and tagged everything, just boxes and plastic tubs, small load under 200 cu ft, we gave exact measurements and count, 2 guys loaded the truck and a 3rd was doing the paperwork, all nice guys. Once the truck was loaded the 3rd person advised us that the quote was not correct, saying that the min cu ft charge is 250. He told us we had to pay an extra $300 now, we had already paid the deposit and now wants this extra money. I tried to call our sales person but no answer. We paid the extra amount and continued to call the rep. After 3 days of calling, another rep answered the phone and confirmed the min of 200 cu ft and would fix our balance due. I waited a few days and called the accounting department to see if the bill was correct, It was not and the lady could not confirm any adjustments. She said that she would review and text me back, she did call back but could not get approval. I sent her copies of the quote and emails confirming everything, she finally hung up on me. I tried calling my rep 10 times over the next week, no answer and no return call. I was finally able to get in touch with the dispatch manager, he also said he would chk it out and get back to me. After waiting for 2 days i called him back and he gave me $100 off but did not give me $300, I agreed to the $100 as they had my stuff some where, I asked for tracking but none was provided, My loaded was delivered cross country will no issues, read more

I've had the worse experience with master movers and benjiman Moshe. 1-they deceived me with the price and refused to give an in house estimate when they arrived but stated it will be with in %10 increase and contract says they dont pick up your items until they have at least 50% but they took my items and increased the price by 250%. 2-they wrote (price) in the contract after we signed because they said they don't know how much it will be until they got to weigh the truck but never weighed it. They don't answer calls. They scam you. 3-they/we discussed lbs. they counted cubic feet and nearly tripled my price 4-he/master movers would not release my furniture 5-they don't answer calls/they screen calls when they know they've messed up 6-they mentioned only weight when discussing move but charged for cubic distance 7-almost everything I own arrived damaged beyond repair. These movers are con artists. They've literally quoted mI paid them 70% of what they quoted upfront and 30% when they deliver. After they had my things and my money, they tripled the price. They refuse to deliver my stuff until they're paid 3x the amount quoted and agreed on. Again this is AFTER they picked up my things. I never agreed to the new quote. She said she doesn't care and informed me that I will not get my things until I pay her. Yes my entire house they will not deliver and will not tell me where my things are after raising the price 3x what we agreed on AFTER my things were in their custody. Here's what my furniture and things looked liked after delivered. read more

Nothing like paying $400 to watch all your stuff get broken. I just moved yesterday with Master Movers from a one bedroom downtown to another apartment about a 10 min drive away. This was my experience: 1) They originally gave me a 6 he time window of when they'd be here (between 7am and 1pm) and said they'd call the day before the move to give me a more accurate window. They didn't call, so I was ready to move at 7. I tried calling them but no one would answer. Finally at 9:10 someone called and said they'd arrive in half hr or so. 2) when they arrived, they couldn't figure out how to maneuver their truck (this had not been an issue w Two Men and a Truck, which I had used earlier this year, and who had a larger truck), so they blocked a garage entrance. They wasted 20 minutes moving the truck back and forth (time I was billed for). 3) I paid for two movers. What I got were three slackers. One guy was hungover and talking to his friend on his phone the whole time (except when he turned my nice wooden desk sideways and scraped it across concrete, but then leaned on it for 10 min dripping armpit sweat all over it while texting his friend) 4) I lived on the 4th floor of a building w an elevator. Almost all of my stuff was packed nicely in cardboard boxes, but the entire time, it was just one guy picking up one or two boxes at a time and carrying them to the elevator. When there were maybe 4 boxes left (out of about 30), someone finally got the bright idea to use a dolly... Of course I was charged for all of that extra time it took them. 5) since they blocked the garage exit, someone else in the building had to leave, so they wasted another 15 min or solving the truck away and back, which somehow was a three person job. 6) instead of cooperating and carrying heavy items together (ie, one person on each end of a couch), they instead made it a competition to see who was stronger where each guy picked up either a couch or love seat on his own and tried to carry it by himself, dropping it several times on the ground and breaking the frame. 7) one guy thought it would be a good idea to try to use the dolly to carry a longboard metal rod (and nothing else). Obviously it fell off a few times and got scratched. 8) I had given my new address to them when I had first reserved them, so they had it in their system. When I signed all the papers, it was written down on the papers. Each one of the movers asked me multiple times where I was moving and acted like it was the first time they were hearing about it. 9) all of my wine glasses were shattered 10) all of my plastic stuff (drawers, laundry basket, laundry hamper) were all scraped 11) their truck was muddy, so every box/item they moved got dirty, meaning when they dragged it into my new place with brand new carpet (yes, dragged, be again, why would they use a dolly when they can just push your stuff around in the ground?) then the dirt got all over my carpet. 12) they said they'd charge in 15 min increments, but they finished at 12:05 and said my end time was 12:45, and charged me for that and left. 13) they didn't even assemble my queen bed (just a basic metal frame w a box spring and mattress), so I had to do it myself (and I'm a pretty small person), and injured my shoulder while trying to do that 14) they were rude and complaining the entire time. Basically, I chose master movers bc the estimate was $300 (but ended up being $400) and I thought that was a better deal than two men and a truck (who charged me $600 about a year ago for the same amount of stuff), however, you really get what you pay for. Two men and a truck were awesome. I would never ever have master movers move anything again. Update: I see they left a comment on my review. They sent me a claim form that must be printed and mailed though postal mail, so when I submit that, I'll update my review if they do anything to compensate for any of the damage. (And I did call but no one answered.) read more

I could not rate them negative stars. Long story short. They are the absolutely horrible, lazy and utter liars. Apparently, they (with AAA movers out of Florida) swindled my 85 year old Mother into using them. She received no bill of lading nor any of the other required paperwork. She was told it would be a 1-2 week move. After about 10 days, she started calling them and was rudely insulted by a driver called "Guy". He asked her what she expected for paying so little. The amount she paid was actually twice what he said. I started texting him on her behalf and asked for updates. He lied on a consistent basis. HE changed the delivery to 21 business days. Just after the 21 day period, he said it would leave in a few days. When a week later, the shipment did not ship, he advised me to contact AAA movers, which we later learned was the broker and not the shipper. After finally clarifying with AAA, we called Master's Movers. Cindy, in customer service, was also a skilled liar full of reassurances that five weeks was too long. I reached her one more time when she bluntly told me to call Guy. After that she neither answered the phone, nor returned my calls. After more than 6 weeks, we were told that the shipment was being loaded. No idea when it would be delivered. Finally, I texted Guy again and he said a few more days- perhaps Thanksgiving. We were not happy with a holiday delivery, but gave guidelines. Finally on the day before Thanksgiving, the driver texted and arranged a Friday delivery- JUST 6 weeks and 6 days after pick up. He tried to charge an "elevator fee". We rejected that. Soon, Guy actually called me for the first time and was upset that I had yelled at his "poor driver". He then demanded cash before the truck was unloaded. When I protested, he sent a barrage of texts, insults and circled contracts that my Mother had not signed. He kept asked me if I was stupid and " can't I read?" On Friday, the driver came. He worked for neither AAA movers, nor Master's movers. HE was in a foul mood. I watched him the entire time he unloaded the truck. He was too cheap to hire any help, so it took hours. I watched him drop a box of glass and china collectibles and throw them back in the box. When the load was almost empty, we noticed that my Mother's artwork was not in any type of picture box. She was told that the art would be wrapped at the truck. I mentioned looking for the box about 1.5 hours in. He snapped that he was not finished. I went back up and searched her apartment for likely boxes. When there were about 10 items left and absolutely no sign of the correct box, I mentioned it again. At this point, he ranted that he "was not taking any more flack about this move" and he was about the leave it all in the parking lot. When he first arrived, he gave me the paperwork regarding the move. About 20 minutes after our exchange, he approached me and demanded to see it. I showed it to him, but did not give it back as I knew he would just leave. He then cursed me out and I told him that the paperwork would be returned when the artwork was found. One of the oil paintings was quite valuable. The manager of the building called the police when the guy started to leave. He abandoned heavy shelves and a variety of goods in the parking lot. Meanwhile, my elderly mother desperately searched for her artwork. The paintings were not "carefully wrapped". but actually thrown into a wardrobe box with zero protection. When the police officer came, the driver called me a bitch and refused to take the paperwork. So after nearly 7 weeks, no furniture was unwrapped from plastic nor moving blankets removed. All the furniture was in the wrong places. The feet were off the loveseat. So Master's Movers are the absolute WORST movers that my family have ever experienced. read more

Master Movers - Two of the framed art (out of 4) jammed into a wardrobe box with clothing and hangers. All of the frames were damaged. - Movers Near Me - Indianapolis, Indiana

I set up my move thru Venture Van Lines in Florida. I was quoted $4,543 for the move. When moving day came, a plain white box truck showed up that was too small for the move and I found out it was from Master Movers. Venture Van Lines was no where to be seen. They started loading the truck and quickly found that the truck was too small. They proceeded to unpack things and repack them in different boxes which has made unpacking a nightmare. When I set up the move, I paid $1,561 in advance. That was the only time that Venture Van lines accepted a credit card. Otherwise everything was on a cash basis. I gave Master Movers a cashiers check for $4,500 before they started. So far I have paid approximately $6,061. When the Master Movers finished loading their truck and were ready to leave, they said I owed them $14,000 for the move. I about fell over and they wanted another $1,000 before they left. I gave them $1,000 so now I have spent, $7061 and they, Master Movers wanted an additional $13,000 making the move $20,061. This is a far cry from the original quote of $4,543. I would never use either Venture Van Lines or Master Movers. I don't know how this is going to end since I have no paperwork on the move other than the original quote of $4,543. read more

This is a mixed review. The two movers actually did a good job once they got going. It was a hot day with lots of stairs so I appreciated their efforts. My stuff was in good hands and no damages. Although I was a bit put off that I was asked to sign a statement there were no damages when I had not actually had a chance to see all of my stuff. That is shady at best. Where I have issues is with the company's practices. . They don't return calls. The estimate and the reality were pretty far apart. They should estimate based on number of rooms not number of boxes. I had stuff well organized and don't own a lot of furniture, was moving from a 1-bedroom and they did not wrap anything, although I believe I pId for wrapping for my couch but did not receive it. They came at 9:30 and did not finish until 2:00 pm. When the movers came I specifically asked if it was okay for me to run an errand and they agreed. I later found out there was paperwork to sign and instead of calling or texting me to tell me this, they waited for me to come back upstairs to my apt - so I paid for almost an hour where no moving got done. This actually has two parts -- I was handed a ream of papers to sign and I signed and initialed them, then went downstairs. A few minutes later one mover comes downstairs to tell me his boss had said they should return if I refused to sign the documents. I signed ALL of the paperwork provided - he pulled out a contract type form I had never seen before. So, their boss was threatening me from Indianapolis without all the facts and having never spoken to me. It was odd and off putting and very unprofessional of the owner, Benjamin. I am paying hard-earned money for a move I had scheduled in June. I signed a contract and to have a ream of papers thrown at me by movers I am paying to move by the hour was not cool. Then to get blamed for the company's disorganized paperwork and threatened with them abandoning my move was terrible. Send that stuff ahead of time so customers can review. Last, I had an a/c window unit to move and ended up not being able to because the drivers told me they did not have a screw driver because the company does not provide tools. What the hell? All of my tools were packed. And what happened to the 89.00 deposit I paid when I booked the move back in June? The work itself was fine but the company has some odd practices that were red flags for me. Both workers were heavy smokers too. They smoked outside but carried the odor into my home,'so that was unpleasant, especially since I have asthma. read more

YOU WILL HAVE AN AWFUL EXPERIENCE WITH MASTER MOVERS. Everything is contracted and they pass the blame around. Original quote was only a third of what I was charged at the end. TV was broken, refrigerator dented, and they tried to put the blame on us. Didn't deliver on the day they were supposed to and kept changing dates at the last minute. PLEASE STAY AWAY from MASTER MOVERS! read more

They acted helpful and nice when giving quote but never mentioned what the small print says. They quoted me a certain price for a move 2.5 hours away, gave me itemized cost for entire process, including labor/hour price. What they didnt tell me was that I would be charged double for the time they spent driving, I was charged both 'labor time'(~120/hr), as well as a separate 'driving time' charge per hour.(also ~120/hr). My final cost was almost $500 more than their quote because of this. I was quite happy with the move itself, and the movers were amazing, but doesnt change what I wasnt told. read more

I would never recommend this company. Gave a quote of $6k and final charge was $10k. I recently made a long distance move out of Indianapolis and used Master Movers. I choose them over other brokers because I wanted my items moved with care and I was looking for an accurate and fair price. Online brokers varied in prices from $4k to $8k but were not able to tell me who would be picking up my belongings and many of the reviews had terrible stories of hidden charges. I got quite a few quotes and ran through all of my inventory list many times over so I had a good comparison. My wife and I have moved for our jobs several times in the past, so we knew how the process works. I decided to go with a local company because I felt they would be more accurate in meeting my needs and clarifying any concerns. I gave Marylyn my inventory list item by item and explained how big each item was and she seemed very confident in estimating cubic feet needed in the truck for these items. Booked them using a credit card with 20% down which seemed fair; however, if you cancel later the money is non refundable. There's when I should have known better then to proceed. Two days before the move someone from the office called to confirm pick-up date and time. Day of the showed up in an unmarked truck. The foreman walks around the apartment with the inventory list and also FaceTimes individual in the office to confirm the inventory list matches the estimate before they start. I had one stop at a storage unit up the street with a few item but everything was said to be accurate and should take just a few hours. I was worried about extra charges and ever pre wrapped some of my furniture to save time. He has two newer movers with him to do a two bedroom move. Over 5 hrs to get everything into the truck. They wrapped everything in moving blankets very nicely. After the pickup at the storage unit I was asked to pay $3600 more by check and told the last portion would need to be cash at delivery. Seemed very sketchy but he needed to pick his kid up so I signed a check and asked for receipt and he said Marylyn would email me one. I called her when I got in my car but office was closed. Ben from the office later called me to ask if I was told it was a full truck and I was over the cubic feet? I stated I was not and ask what that meant as I assumed since the truck was going to be following me in a few days to my new state. He said they would repack it in the yard over the weekend and let me know the price adjustment for the new cubic ft. Called on Monday to state the quote was for 985cubit ft. and the actual is 1550 cubit feet so I would need to pay an additional $4k for the move and send him additional money before they would schedule delivery. Called Ben and emailed my concerns about how this was handled but he refused to budge. I was charged more for packing and fuel charges for the adjustment in cubic feet. All of the items were going into Storage requiring no set-up but he took nothing off for the under estimate. Ben tells me I have to Zellie the additional amount needed to pay the 70% required before shipping. Again seemed like I was in a game of three card Monty. Finally did so and he said the truck was heading my way but ask me to confirm the location could except a semi. I said yes but my items were packed in a box truck. Drivers called me from the road and I met them later the next day at the storage unit. Everything seemed great. The guys were nice but were not allowed to start unloading the box truck, not semi till I gave them $3600 in cash. Here's where I found out my move was brokered out and these guys did not even work for Master Movers. They then said all the furniture had to be unwrapped before going into the storage unit. I was told this was part of the wrapping and packing charge but when I finally got ahold of Ben he said look at your contract it's not on there. Took 4 hrs to unwrap and place everything into the storage unit. Some Items were scratched and marked but they said the other group must have done it. When I looked at the inventory list the items from the second stop were not even on the list therefore any damage could not be reported. Totally the worst moving experience I have ever had. Nothing was accurate in what was quoted. The price was $4k higher, the truck was unmarked, they brokered my items off to another company and they reloaded everything again into there own unmarked rented truck. I wish I would have used a true professional moving company and not Master Movers. read more

Don't use these people- Master Movers grossly underbid our move- and then demanded I venmo and pay with credit cards or they would walk off the job- I think the legal term for what we experienced is extortion. I was charged over $4000.00 to move 1.5 miles; 3200 sq foot home- they sent 1 truck and 3 guys. They destroy my furniture-smashed my walls (brand new build) and didn't finish the move until 4 days later- but not before they demanded an additional $700 for the rest of the move- and assured me I would get credited for time not used-. the last day was a 15 min load, a 15 min unload....and they refuse to credit any of the $700 they extorted from me when I was at my most vulnerable. I feel the added responsibility to file a complaint with the Attorney General for the State of Indiana- no business should be allowed to extort monies from a consumer. I read some of the other experiences(reviews) that are similar to mine, and I think its pretty clear that this mover is unethical and is hurting people. I was more than happy to pay this company a fair price for the move- they did underbid; and I had no problem doubling the payment form $1500 to $3000- and in the end it was over $4,000.00 for a 1.5 mile move...and they are the experts???? Ben should do the right thing- and credit the last $700 appropriately AS PROMISED- for the 30 minutes of work his people did- I am happy to pay for real work- I don't expect anything for free. read more

The President of the company threatened to hold my goods hostage. Seriously! I was lied to by the moving crew about charges and overcharged. The slickster salesperson said moving supplies were included in the weight, but the moving crew came up with several hundred pounds of extra weight they needed to charge due to the weight of the boxes and packing materials. Someone is not telling the truth. Clearly this is one of their tactics. When I tried to get a hold of the office to figure it out. No answer. In fact it took eight days to get a call back. Every time I called in, I would get bounced around to different people with no authority and have to leave another message. After 6 days, I finally got an email that said nothing really. Complete lack of communication. Once they have your payment and your goods, you are at their mercy. I couldn't even get them to estimate the week, yes week!, that my belongings would be delivered. At first I thought the moving crew was being extra careful and boxing up everything possible. Then I saw the bill and realized they charge over ten times more than what the U-Haul store charges for materials, I understood what they were doing. It is an absolute racket. They sliced up boxes just to throw them away so they could charge me more. They boxed up other previously packed smaller boxes into larger boxes for some odd reason... hmmm maybe so they could charge more. They even refused to use my tape that I bought elsewhere so they could charge more. They left the place an absolute disaster with partial boxes, tape, and shreds all over the place. There was a $600 bill for boxes and packing supplies and I already had everything packed up (or at least I thought I did). I wouldn't have used another single box if I was moving it myself. To top it all off, they expected an outrageously large tip of 15% of the total move. Several hundred dollars for a tip for a couple of hours of work. I guess I am in the wrong business if that flies. Master Movers is a company of hustlers and thieves. Avoid them at all costs. Check out their Better Business Bureau rating of a C- with 54 complaints of customer service issues, delivery issues, contract disputes, service issues, etc. The President even told me that he doesn't care about reviews or the BBB because it doesn't affect his business. He said the BBB is just there to steal money from businesses so he doesn't want to be accredited. Huh? I guess business is just too good to care about the customer when you are in the business of deception. My move cost was over double their "non-binding" estimate and I am still not quite sure how it happened. They said I had all of these extra items since there were 103 and my original estimate was for 79. However, my speakers were dissembled so 2 became 4, my bed became 7 numbers as opposed to 2, etc. There were a few negligible items such as brooms. I actually got rid of a number of heavy items from the original estimate including a 500 pound table and six chairs and was really thinking I would be significantly underweight. I don't think they have ever had a move underweight or that didn't need more packing materials. I also wouldn't trust them to weigh the truck on their own without being there at this point. I received an email that it was on the way and should be here in the next couple of days. Seven days pass by and I sent several emails and voicemails with no response. Finally I get a call on the eighth day that someone will call me the next day. Here we go again. On the ninth day after the email that everything is in transit, I get a call that they have been trying to get in contact with me and left several messages. All of my messages forward to my email and I can assure you this is not the case. In fact they have multiple numbers from me and an email and there was no trace of an attempted contact anywhere. So it took 3 weeks to complete my move. Lewis and Clark made it out here faster. When my belongings finally got here, they tried to pop me for a $60 credit card fee when I used money orders the whole time. Where does this even come from? Also the scratches and dings on items are beyond what I typically have gotten. I've moved somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 times and this was the second most damage I have received. Don't believe their estimates or anything they say. I've moved over a dozen times using different moving companies and methods and Master Movers is by far the worst experience in every way. Run from them. ZERO STARS! read more

RUN!!! RUN AWAY FAST!!! Nick C.'s review is 100% accurate. Same thing happened to me. Their initial quote to move me from Indiana to New Jersey was $1100, but once they had my stuff in their truck, they added another $900, and before they would unload my stuff in New Jersey (21 days later) they added another $400, which I had to come up with IN CASH and give to the sleazy truck driver, who showed up 6 hours late. Once I paid the $400 in cash, the sleazy driver started unloading my stuff and every single item of furniture was damaged, all my boxes looked like they had been thrown on the ground, every piece of glass was broken. The driver said he didn't do it, that he picked it up from Master Movers storage facility in Indianapolis that way, and I had to take it up with them. He had already taken my money. He didn't care. Then he just threw my washer and dryer off the truck and left them in my garage, even though I paid for them to be moved in my house and hooked up. Benjamin is the "President' of the company, he speaks terribly broken English and is an all around JERK. He threatened to auction off my stuff or leave it on the streets of Jersey City if I didn't pay the additional $400 cash. (I had about 30 minutes notice to come up with $400 in cash) He EXTORTS money from unsuspecting people by holding their personal property for ransom. Don't deal with this company unless you are ready to get SCREWED and have all your stuff TRASHED in the process. read more

Giant mistake to book Master Movers. They were supposed to be here yesterday between 8 - 1. Called the day before and said the truck was broken down and being repaired so my move time was changed to 1 - 4. Didn't happen. I was put off all day but repeatedly guaranteed my move would happen yesterday. At 9:00pm after I've waited all day and based my day full of decisions on movers coming - I'm told it has to be put off to the next day. So. I took a day off for no reason and now the leather couch and dresser I don't have movers for had to sit in a pick up truck over night as it snows. I was told they would call me first thing this morning. Didn't happen. When I finally talked to someone at 10am they said 1 hour. It is now nearly 1:30pm and I was just told 2.5 more hours. Incredibly angry. And again "the truck is broken down". Don't give these guys your money. Please. LIES, LIES, and MORE LIES. 36 hours later still no movers. Full of false hope and blatant lying. DO NOT TRUST A SINGLE THING THEY TELL YOU. read more

We used them June 30th, 2014. I had requested for the biggest truck and was told I would get one. When they arrived on moving day they had a truck that was already half full! I couldn't believe it, was stressed out, and just hoped we could get it to work. The movers did a good job getting all of our stuff in the truck, but it was a mess trying to get it in. Many pieces came out with scratches, but I thought "no big deal, it's here at least." Well, later that evening my old landlord called and said that the movers had caused damage to the gutters and roof tiles. I went back and they sure enough did. I had contacted the movers that day and told them of the issue. It took them a few months of back and forth communication to get the gutter fixed, however they never fixed the tiles. My landlord had told them which company she wanted them to use for her tiles, but they got quotes from other companies as well. My landlord stated she wanted the company of her choice and so Master Movers said they would cut her a check for $800 (the company she wanted quoted her $1000) and we all agreed that would be fine. This was back in November (5 months after the move) I had contacted BBB and asked for the check to be sent before Christmas. Master Movers had agreed to that, however nothing happened. I had requested a refund as well, but of course Master Movers denied that request. They also didn't send the check until I sent another message out to BBB. It took over half a year to get this dealt with! I never got my deposit back from my landlord either because of this fiasco! I would never in a million years recommend this company. It has been the worst customer service I have ever received. The only reason I gave them 1 star is because I couldn't give them 0. read more

They arrived close to the agreed time. When they were not talking, taking a break or on their cell phone they worked steady. 10 hours to move 35 miles. 80% of my belongings were already packed and staged in the garage, including living room tables, dining room table, the couch and love seat were not moved, 10% of fragile items were packed and in the sunroom. Myself and 2 friends helped them unload, Due to the time already used I had many of the boxes left in the garage. damaged items- Owner said "what would make you happy before running anything through the adjustment program". then in regards to the glass coffee table top, "the glass we did not pack, so it is not covered by anything". in regards to the damaged wood couch frame-they agreed to pay $46.32, but then told me the money order was returned to sender. Then told me the check would be sent again and it did not arrive. Repeated texting but no response from Owner. The next time I move the tip comes days after I have inspected everything and the claims have been paid. read more

UPDATE: While I hate to use a public forum to resolve issues, this seemed to work in this case. I received an email today stating that the refund has been processed, so I'll keep up with my credit card company and be sure that actually happened. I'm grateful that this issue seems to be taken care of now! UPDATE: I tried for several weeks to get the several-hundred dollar refund that we are owed. I was told numerous times from Tiffany that she would "walk it over to accounting" (whatever "it" is, God only knows). I was repeatedly promised return calls and e-mails back that never came. I was told it would happen "by the end of the day" over and over. When my husband called today to inquire, Tiffany told him "I am seeing a credit on your account, but I'm not really sure why." She assured him, yet again, she would "walk it over" to accounting and they would e-mail me by the end of the day. Obviously, that never happened. Today, I finally resorted to filing a dispute with our credit card company and also sending a complaint via the BBB. This was the company's response: "The customers refund is being processed by the billing department and when the customer's boyfriend called into the office today we did confirm for him that the refund was going to issued. We have responded to the customer's other reviews as to her move. If the customer has issued a formal dispute on the amount with the credit card company we will have to now wait to receive the compliant so that we do not have two refunds going to the customers account." Obviously, the refund was NEVER processed, contrary to their statements over the last several weeks; otherwise they wouldn't be able to "wait" as they stated above. read more

I would give a zero if possible. My mother was given the first move over the phone, told them she needed out of house before 1. Told them to call if they needed her. They email her that they change it to after 1, when she told them to call she had no way to check her email. It is2:45 and they can't gives answers and we are going to half to pay the buyer money and the time of day we will make it to the destination will cost more because traffic. I would never recommend these people to anyone, not even an enemy. Also 8 phone callls were made to company before the phone was answered.6:30 and they still haven't arrived, not a good way to run a business read more

3 years later a response? Just goes to show they stiiiiiil suck & I'd never reccomend this company. Ever. Once your men arrived they determined we they needed more time so we PREPAID for the additional time you are speaking of. Despite the fact that it took them 15 minutes to clean up the glass bottles they broke... despite the fact they took 20 minutes to drive to our storage which is 9 minutes away [because they made a stop at a convenience store in the way, I was told]... despite the fact that it took them 15 minutes to get their truck turned around in the storage & then another 12 minutes because they HIT the lock box inside the storage facility... they still finished 15 mins early. I'm sure YOUR records do not reflect these instances of time that we paid for because you never took the time to respond to any of the methods we used to contact you. In response to the broken items I assumed that any good business owner would make things right especially with pic od the broken items as well as your men knowing & apologizing. We didn't hold it personally against them & even paid for their lunch. Our issue is with your company & it's practices. Not your drivers. read more

Moved on 7/18/2015. Master Movers told me they were sending experienced men. They didn't. This was the first day for one man, the first week for another, and the third had only been with them a few weeks. None had much experience. The were nice, polite, friendly, etc. The first half of the move (packing the truck) went pretty smoothly. I'm pretty easy going. I don't expect perfection. I've moved over 30 times (for work) in my life, so I'm no novice. However, the second half (the unpacking the truck and setup) totally sucked. This was the worst of ALL my moves EVER! THE HOUSE They simply dumped my furniture into room after room with no thought to how they should be arranged. Everything was pushed into one big pile. The house was left in total chaos. Not a single room was livable. I couldn't even walk through my living room. Even my dogs couldn't find their way through the living room to the back door. TOTAL CHAOS! THE GARAGE The garage was filled in tornado fashion; everything piled up with no rhyme or reason. No room for a car in my big 2-1/2 car garage. I can't get to anything until I completely empty it, and then restack and rearrange it. My home office boxes are buried in there somewhere. So are my books, pot & pans, electronics, etc. THE TIP? Lastly, the men kept asking me for a tip. That's right, they wanted me to tip them. I did buy them lunch (which I wasn't obligated to do). One man said that he earned only $40 during my 5-1/2 hour local move. The men complained that they earn only $9/hr. I paid roughly $1100.00. I told them that their problem was not with me not tipping them (they left my house a mess and didn't deserve a tip). Their problem was that Master Mover's is cheating their employees. No wonder none of them had any experience. Moving is hard work and to get only $40 to $50 for a day's worth of back-breaking labor just isn't worth it. So yes, I feel sorry for them. No, I still don't think I should have tipped them. I'll be spending every night for the next two weeks straightening out the mess they made and lifting all the heavy stuff that they shoved into piles. Nope, no tipping for that kind of job. BOTTOM LINE Would I use Master Movers again? I'd kill myself first! Update: 7/20/2015, I never expected them to unpack boxes. However, I did expect the furniture to all be placed in the right rooms and not pushed into a big pile. Decent movers make some attempt to leave each room in somewhat usable condition. Master Movers did not. read more
