I called you on October 9, 2023, at 10:53 AM and left a message to tell you that I was pulling my boat out on November 6, 2023, to put it in winter storage. You called me back at 12:03 PM the same day and told me that I would have to pay for the entire month of November. I had no problem with that. You said that you normally get a 30-day written notice of departing your facility but since we were talking, you would accept the verbal notice (this should have been in your notes). My wife accidentally paid you twice and you admit it.  On November 6th I pulled my boat off your property and moved it to winter storage.  When I got home my wife told me about the double payment. I called you at 1:27 PM on November 6th to inform you about the double payment. You told me you posted the double payment for November and December, and I was covered for December storage fee even though I was not storing anything on your property, and you were not giving me my money back. I posted my review on YELP on November 6th to warn others of your corrupt business practice. You called me at 2:09 PM after reading the review on YELP on the 6th and left me a voice mail which included the following: "Hey Bruce, Todd Payne here, I went back and looked at all my records, NOTES, and everything and I don't see anything that you've notified me that you were leaving for 30 days but what I can do is take that EXTRA PAYMENT THAT YOUR WIFE MADE that I posted for December and KEEP IT and hold your spot for you. You'll start back up in the summer and make payments. Just give me a call back".  These are your words, Todd. You are admitting to keeping the extra payment and not returning my money even though you were notified in October. Why don't you have any records and I do. I am warning everyone to stay away, or you will have to shut your MONTH!

Since they have taken over, the security gate remains open, the security cameras are pointing in the wrong direction. Several locks insode the facility have been cut and items stolen. Our locker included. We have reached out to the call center several times with no response other than the rep saying our concerns will be forwarded to a manager. We cant speak to anyone with any authority to fix the problems they caused. I attempted to contact them through their website only to be given an error message stating the site is not safe. When I continued to the site and accesses the contact us link, I was unable to send the message. The company is a scam and only wants to collect the fees from tenants.

My husband showed up with 2 truckloads of our things at 10:20 and no one was there and it was obvious they were still closed from the night before. Customer service via the call center is a joke. We both were calling and despite talking to 4-5 people no one could help us and no one called us back as requested. My husband was able to use the kiosk to get a key and pay despite it restarting several times only to find out the gate code it provided didn't work. Finally after 11 someone showed up and let my husband in and he was able to unload the trucks into our unit. The following Monday we followed up to voice our frustration and let them know we weren't sure we were going to stay a few months as we intended. Long story short rather than an apology we were kicked out and told our stuff needed to be out the next day. We had to load up our things and find another storage location. Global Self Storage has terrible customer service and at the end of the day they might just kick you out if they don't like what you have to say. Not worth it!

The icing on the cake was today when I interacted with Hersheila, the property manager as I understand it. We had a very real, heart-to-heart set of conversations around some social justice issues that we see in and around the city. I could tell she cared for everyone she interacted with but held everyone to the same high standards of mutual respect, common courtesy and authentic conversations...regardless of their personal situation or background. They left two college girls without movers and without a storage unit and were less than helpful with advice. Other than offering for them to move out a day later, but the girls lease was already up, and they had already turned all their stuff in. You can't just stay an extra day in an apartment for free, and it's Memorial Day weekend and it's not like they could go extend their lease. Didnt even offer to help in trying to find other movers or another storage unit. We are not from the area and this was just a really disappointing experience. we offered to help them load the truck ourselves and begged them to still move them because the lease was up and the girls HAD to move out. I am speechless at the lack of professionalism, and instead of offering guidance or another moving company number, they got upset and raised their voice at us instead like we were at fault. I understand things come up, but you could at least be a decent business person and try to offer solutions, especially for people who are out of town.

They wrapped a lot of items in plastic. We moved from a 2nd level 2-bed 1-bath apt. to a 1-story home. I would have appreciated better estimates from the company. We were quoted an hourly rate and a 1-hr travel fee. The estimated time was 2 hours and for arrival at 3 PM. The arrival time was 5 PM, and the move lasted until after 10 PM. So the time estimates were not correct. This also increased the travel fee. So 5 hours labor, the travel fee, plus gas mileage expense, and some supplies, for everything including the $100 deposit, it was $1,300 to move. I was a bit shocked but maybe that's normal with today's prices. There were no issues with the move.

They also damaged our hardwood floors and walls! I was going to get regular piano movers but they said they could do it. They refuse to pay us for the damage. They said it would take 3-4 hours to move us b/c my husband had all of the boxes . All they had to only move the large furniture, and it took them 8 hours @ &259/hour! Needless to say, what should have cost$1000 ended up costing $3000!! They only had to move us 2.5 miles! They left more furniture at old house and we never saw this crew again! I called the office and they had to send another crew out to finish the job at 6:00! Oh, and they broke one of our tall boy dressers-- lifted it from the middle, and they should have lifted it from the bottom, like moist movers!! also asked for their tips (one mover in particular) every half hour!
