About 4 hours into the re-delivery of our belongings by their crew, we discovered that much of our furniture and personal property which had already brought into our new home appeared to be covered in mold. The contamination affected our brand-new home and required professional remediation. As a result, we were displaced and forced to live in a hotel for 50 nights while the issue was addressed. The owner, John Craft, acknowledged to us that our belongings had gotten wet and remained on their moving trucks for a period of time during the hot and humid month of June. Despite assurances from the company's insurance carrier, we have received very little communication or resolution. More than seven months later, we still do not have our belongings and have had to retain legal counsel to pursue claims against both Soft Touch Moving and the insurance company. This experience has been incredibly disruptive to our lives. Based on our experience, we would strongly caution others before trusting this company with their belongings.

The gentleman who scheduled my move over the phone was attentive, knowledgeable and provided costs to me upfront. There was no confusion on what we would be paying and they had plenty availability for the day that we wanted. The morning of our move, the gentlemen called me 30 minutes before arriving and guess what? They arrived EXACTLY at their start time! They promptly got to work, asking us during a quick walkthrough what things we needed packed up (apartment move to a house). They were friendly, laughing and talking to us, and very swift. They packed up our apartment and attached garage in a few hours and set off to our storage unit to pack the rest. YES - they stopped at our storage in the middle of the move to get the rest of our belongings! On the way to our new home, a 3rd mover from their team called me to inquire if I wanted to have a 3rd person to keep making the move go faster (as a member of the first team's shift had ended). I said yes, and the new team member showed up with the original team and kept going. I can't stress how polite these young men were! They gave us recommendations and asked our preferences all day! The biggest thing of all was that they moved a 400 lb safe up to the top floor of my house with not a scratch to any floor or wall!!! I was blown away. These young men were so considerate that they changed their shoe covers EVERY TIME they walked onto our new flooring and carpet! They left boxes and furnishings stacked four deep on the front porch and left before I could make it back to the new house. I called corporate at 12pm and its just an AI system. Two hoirs later a woman called me and said theyd get their operations on it. At 4pm I hired two moving companies at an expense of $1300 to finish my move. It's now 8:45pm. It will take days just to put the boxes where they go.

To start the day…read moreoff, they showed up an hour and a half late to my apartment, took 45 minutes to get around the building to the loading dock, then took another 20-25 minutes to park in the loading dock where they hit the top of the loading dock and dented my apartment building. Then there was a language barrier that I was not informed of until they showed up at my apartment which resulted in a lot of wasted time google translating things and having to have them move items to other rooms because they couldn't understand our directions on where to put them - which added a large chunk of time to the total amount of time I was billed for. They also moved items to different piles in the apartment, then more piles outside of the apartment door to the hall, then to the elevator and then took things down. Not to mention they took a 30 minute lunch break that I was also billed for at the end of the day. Also in the process of moving, several things were damaged. This included several big furniture items, dishes that were in boxes that had caved in from having several other boxes stacked on top of them even though the boxes were very clearly labeled fragile on top, and worst of all, there were several scrapes on the walls of my brand new house that had just finished being built two weeks prior. The worst of which is the tire marks going up the side of my stairs from where they tried to drag the dolly up the them. My original estimate for this move that they gave me, based on the number of rooms and furniture items that I had, was for $450 and that I would need the minimum number of hours they require for any move of 3 hours. I know this was just an estimate, but when I got the actual bill at the end of it, it was almost $1200 plus the $100 security deposit which is nearly 3 times the amount I was quoted, which is a ridiculous amount to be off by. I had the same number of items moved last year in 2.5 hours with no damages and the same amount of people the year before when I moved into my apartment. The customer service rep was unsurprisingly very unhelpful and did not seem to care much about any of the things that went wrong during this move. So due to the poor quality of the moving experience, I now have wasted several hours getting the information for the claims, repairing and buying new items, and getting my brand new staircase repainted. In case my review isn't clear enough, you should go anywhere but People-Move moving for your next move!

Other than offering for them to move out a day later, but the girls lease was already up, and they had already turned all their stuff in. You can't just stay an extra day in an apartment for free, and it's Memorial Day weekend and it's not like they could go extend their lease. Didnt even offer to help in trying to find other movers or another storage unit. We are not from the area and this was just a really disappointing experience. we offered to help them load the truck ourselves and begged them to still move them because the lease was up and the girls HAD to move out. I am speechless at the lack of professionalism, and instead of offering guidance or another moving company number, they got upset and raised their voice at us instead like we were at fault. I understand things come up, but you could at least be a decent business person and try to offer solutions, especially for people who are out of town.
