We have a very heavy 73" bathroom vanity with the carrara mable top and double sinks already installed that had to be moved from our garage to the bathroom. It had to go through a wooden privacy gate, a patio door and stood on end to get into a hallway and bathroom door. At our age it wasn't even an option for us to attempt so I went directly to Yelp. I pulled up movers under Yelp, of course, and called three or four movers in the area. Bellhop charged by the hour, didn't seem dettered by the weight or standing on end and was available when we needed. Bellhop texted and emailed a confirmation and reminder while the lead mover introduced himself by text and confirmed the arrival time and exactly what they were moving a few days before. The day of the move they arrived separately and promptly, both were dressed appropriately (pants weren't down past their booty), polite, they worked well together, were careful and listened to suggestions my husband had without taking offense. We've had to move several large items into our house and knew what would work. We ended up having 3/4" to an 1" head clearance going through the bathroom door. They handled it like troopers and nothing was damaged. The move from start to finish only took an hour and 15 minutes. The bathroom vanity had no scratches and the marble top was in perfect shape. Bellhop doesn't provide furniture or appliance dollies unless you're renting a truck. We provided both for the movers but they weren't neccesary. They just carried the bathroom vanity and handled like pro's. If I need something moved again I won't hesitate to call Bellhops Moving. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with Bellhop and would not use this company again. I have moved numerous times over the past decade and have hired many moving companies during that time. This was, without question, the worst moving experience I have ever had. The issues started when the movers left behind one of the most important pieces of my furniture, my bed frame. After discovering it had been left behind, I repeatedly contacted Bellhop in an attempt to have the situation corrected. Unfortunately, responses were slow and not provided in a timely manner. Because I was unable to get a prompt response or meaningful assistance, I was ultimately forced to retrieve the bed frame myself befoere I lost it. My personal vehicle is a two door sedan and could not accommodate such a large bed frame, meaning I had to rent to a larger vehicle and spend additional time and money recovering an item that should never have been left behind in the first place. Despite the inconvenience, expense, and stress this caused, Bellhop's response was a $50 credit which didn't even cover the truck rental. What concerns me most is what they did to me afterwards. My move involved a move from a 1 bedroom apartment and was originally estimated at approximately four hours. I was charged for this service and the move was roughly 3-4 hours. On that day, after that move was complete, the movers informed me that they had no additional jobs scheduled for the remainder of the day. We then discussed furniture assembly as a separate service. The movers contacted Bellhop directly regarding this arrangement, and I separately agreed with them to pay $400 including tip for a few pieces of furniture assembly work. Despite this separate arrangement and separate payment afterwards, Bellhop later additonally billed me for a total of six hours for the move itseld, resulting in approximately $522 CAD in additional charges on top of the the $2000 CAD paid initially and $400 USD for furniture assembley. The furniture assembly was clearly a separate service that occurred after the move had been completed and should not have been included in the moving service, since I paid seperately for that and it was discussed after the fact. But t I was separately charged by the company for that work, and then subsequently billed for it again for hundreds of dollars more through Bellhop, and it left me shocked. The explanation I received did not align with what occurred during the move (it was not a 6 hour move) and left me with the impression that Bellhop was attempting to recharacterize separately arranged furniture assembly as moving time in order to justify additional charges to charge me as much as possible, despite the furniture assembly having been separately discussed, separately arranged, and separately paid for. I have emailed them over this and instead of addressing this, Bellhop appears to be treating that time as though it was part of the original move in order to justify additional charges. Whether this is the result of poor internal communication or a deliberate attempt to maximize billing, the outcome is the same. I was charged substantially more than I agreed to pay and was left to dispute charges that I do not believe were justified. Mistakes can happen in any business. Leaving behind a customer's furniture is a mistake. Slow communication is a mistake. But leaving behind a major piece of furniture, forcing the customer to spend additional money and time retrieving it themselves, offering compensation that does not even cover the resulting expenses, and then imposing hundreds of dollars in disputed charges afterward demonstrates a complete lack of accountability and customer service. read more

I was supposed to get two 26 foot trucks and five movers at 8am. Only one truck showed up and four movers and they staryed at 9am. One of the movers told me he hadnt been to bed yet and asked if he could leave. I oocked up pizzas for them and had a full cooler for them. They told me they wouldnt be able to finish my move because they had another move to go to. And they didnt feel comfortable moving my piano. I had specifically asked for this service. They left boxes and furnishings stacked four deep on the front porch and left before I could make it back to the new house. I called corporate at 12pm and its just an AI system. Two hoirs later a woman called me and said theyd get their operations on it. At 4pm I hired two moving companies at an expense of $1300 to finish my move. It's now 8:45pm. There were supposed to be 3 and only 2 showed up. The 2nd one was a "trainee" who wasn't supposed to count as one of the 3, but somehow was the more competent of the two. They seemed to have never loaded a truck, didn't know how to pack a truck, looked confused a lot, and it took more than 4 hours to load a 28' truck. No appliances, only furniture and boxes and a piano that had been discussed with Bellhop prior. They had a single appliance dolly on the truck which was only discovered after arrival. Unpacking took far longer and a move that began at 2PM was finished around 2AM. They will not answer or return calls. You are on you own. ABSOLUTELY THE WORST read more

Bellhop is a disingenuous broker. I scheduled with Bellhop before a move and was surprised at how much they were charging. I thought they were top-notch, but I was wrong and horribly let down and disappointed. We had an emergency and attempted to reschedule over 48 hours ahead of our move. Their AI BOT was not helpful. Bellhop canceled the service and charged fees equal to the amount nearly equal to the original move quote. Simply shady and outrageous, they said I could apply their ridiculous fees to a reschedule. When rescheduling again, we were told that was not an option. No, thank you, never again. Trust me; you do not need Bellhop to find quality movers, save yourself the aggravation, or at least seek a reputable broker. read more

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!! Let me start off by saying that we have used Bellhop before and had no issues. We booked them again after having issues with another moving company, we booked for last minute service. We booked 4 guys for 4 hours for labor only. Point at boxes and items and have them moved to the moving truck. Simple as that, point, pick up and load, I provided the truck, and it was a 600 foot move around the corner. They were scheduled to arrive between 8-9am, only 2 people showed up at 915am and 3rd showed up at 930. Where was the 4th guy???? Who knows!!! I already had half of the living room staged with boxes and totes ready to go. This was for LABOR only. I cannot express enough, LABOR only. I did not ask for any packing to happen. Two of the workers smelled like they had just hotboxed in the car on the way over, not a great start. Weed is still illegal in the state of Indiana. I don't care what people do, but don't be high as a kite when you are coming to work on my dime and move my belongings. But remind you, there is still one mover missing! The 3 guys that showed up are standing outside pretty much unwilling to do anything because they were missing one person and it was very clear they just didn't want to work. But with all of that, I can't get a live person on the phone only these AI bots and NOBODY returns calls. I have been informed that I would still be charged a $200 fee for canceling on them. So, I don't get the full crew I asked for, and 2 of the 3 are high and smell so badly of weed and they didn't touch a single thing. But I am being charged for that? FINAL UPDATE: The items that were destroyed/stolen from me equaled over $100 in value, and my "settlement offer" was $22. I just accepted it so I can be done with this nightmare of a company. Save yourself the time, stress, energy, and money and book with literally any other moving company in the world. ==== UPDATE POST MOVE: Changed the rating from one star to two because the movers were overall good. They showed up on time and worked efficiently and maintained good communication with me on the day of my move. However, there were a couple of bumps in the road. First of all, the appointment window for the unloading was 5-6pm. As we were finishing up at the loading location, I confirmed with the moving lead that they would be at the second location at 5pm. He indicated that they would be going straight there and would arrive around 1 (which would have been impossible given the required travel time), but I indicated to him that I had been under the impression that they would not be there until 5, but he was adamant about needing to get it done earlier because they "had to drive back". So we agreed on 3pm and that was good enough (although I had to completely alter my schedule for the day). Upon arrival at the unloading location, they again were efficient and worked quickly. However, they showed me that they had broken my desk ($70 value), which was irritating, but I asked them if they could just dispose of it. The moving lead said that they usually charge a fee for disposing of items, which I thought was an insane response given that they broke it, but they agreed to take it away without charge. After they left, I realized that there were items attached to the desk that had not been delivered, so I assume they were disposed of along with the desk. The items included a surge protector ($10) and a drawer unit ($30). I'm currently in the process of attempting to receive compensation for the items they destroyed/did not deliver, but I'm not optimistic. Furthermore, in previous moving situations, my movers had always left the items as they found them (i.e. remove all plastic wrap and tape from items), which they did not do. I was pretty shocked to see that they left the plastic on almost everything, but I'm not sure why I was surprised to be honest. Overall, I'd seriously advise against using this company. Between the gross dishonesty, their attempt to charge my card without my consent, the clear disorganization between the administration and the moving teams, and the fact that they broke some of my items - it's just not worth it. It's far too expensive to justify the unneeded stress that comes with utilizing a dishonest, disorganized company. I'll update this again if anything comes of my attempt to receive reimbursement for the items they broke/didn't deliver. ==== DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY! If you do, read every inch of fine print, not only in your contract, but on their website, and expect them to still not follow their own policies. When I booked, I spoke with an agent both on the phone and via text and email. The agreement, which was the same agreement outlined in the subsequently signed contract, detailed that I would pay 10% of the total cost 2 days after booking, which I did. Then 5 days before my move date, I received a notification from my bank for a potential security issue, as Bellhop had attempted to charge my debit card with the remainder of the multi-thousand dollar payment without my consent. I reviewed my contract several times to see if I had missed anything, which I had not. I called the customer service line, only to be told that the policy was listed on their website. On the website, under the "Billing" section in my move dashboard, there's a hyperlink at the bottom where it states that 48 hours prior to my move, my account will be charged the full amount for the move, regardless of the fact that the contract I signed didn't mention that, the agents I spoke with prior to booking did not say that, and I paid the full deposit required to reserve the move. So while on the phone with customer service agent Sara, she continued to state repeatedly that they needed the full payment prior to providing service. She stated that it is their policy to charge the card on file three days prior to the move, even though on the website it said 2 days before the move; they actually tried to charge it 5 days before the move, and in my contract, that was not mentioned at all. Now, 4 days before my move, I sat on hold for 20+ minutes while Sara attempted to locate a manager for me to speak with, only to come back and say a supervisor would reach out to me later. At the moment, this issue has not been resolved, and I'm 4 days away from my move that I booked weeks ago. I'll update this review with more details, but felt the need to warn the general public about this dishonest company. Just don't bother with them. read more

I was really looking forward to using Bellhop after hearing some good reviews from my friends, but instead I just got was a stressful long distance move with multiple damaged items and a ruined white sofa. The loading team in Indianapolis is really where the issues started. They neglected to wrap our larger items even though I had purchased mattress covers to do exactly this and also didn't wrap our $1500 white sofa. They just threw it in the truck, cushions on the dirty floor of the truck and everything. Like what? Who wouldn't wrap the WHITE couch?!?! That's your whole job? Unfortunately I wasn't watching them like a hawk while they were loading items, but if I would have seen them do this I would've called the moving coordinator and cancelled the move right then and there. Getting the items to our new residence was fairly quick and the driver was great. He was there right on time for our unload the next day. The NJ team that unloaded our items was again, problematic. First, there was only one of our unloaders that showed up on time. You can't move large items with one mover, we could've done the small stuff ourselves. Secondly, the minute we started unpacking I realized the extent of how horribly our items were packed. There was a broken, expensive full sized mirror, the top of my electric fireplace had come off (it's not supposed to come off), our mattresses were dirtied with dirt and grime from the bottle of the truck, multiple other items were ripped and dirtied, and the kicker was that our white sofa, which was very well taken care of before being unceremoniously shoved into the moving truck, had multiple rips and large black marks around the fabric. I am embarrassed to have it sitting in our living room with the way that it looks. We're going to have to purchase a new sofa. When I contacted Bellhop to log a damage claim, they offered me an initial settlement of $380. Excuse me? That's chump change on what they damaged! After speaking to the claim representative, they upped the claim to $490. I'm actually so disappointed in their offer when their movers cost us more than half of the actual move cost in damages that we won't recoup. PLEASE do yourself a favor and don't make the mistake that I did by going with Bellhop for our long distance move. Bellhop moved my belongings to a storage unit June 2024. This was part of an Offerpad deal when they brought my house. I didn't want to complain since it was a "gift", but It just kept on giving me GRIEF! Four guys showed up, without a brain between them. the driver sat in the truck the whole time (because it was his truck). The other three Neanderthals' did not have any tools, not even a screwdriver. They broke my bedframe. They broke my washing machine. I am sick over the way they treated my french door refrigerator: broke waterlines, cracked the filter, snatched off the doors and broke the drawers, lost screws. I heard them dropping it down the porch steps and when I said, "Hey, take it easy!" The leader snapped back with "We're not responsible if this is not on your original inventory". But I looked past that and thought that if I was paying so much then the quality must me worth it. I was wrong. On the day of the move only 1 guy showed up. We we're supposed to have 5! After 20 minutes of this poor guy moving stuff on his own and calling Bellhop nonstop to ask for help, he finally had to cancel our entire move. Reasons I would use them again: - They were punctual and efficient. - They took time wrapping our furniture with pads and Saran Wrap. - They walked through the whole house first to see inventory of everything. - They listened well to instructions of what not to take and also which rooms the cats were hiding in. - Each member introduced themselves to us (myself and my husband), this was a nice personal touch - Dacey W. regularly checked in with us during the 4 hour period to make sure we had what we needed and wanted being done. - Very affordable, even before the discount code they were the lowest quote from any competitor. Only two movers showed up for the scheduled move. They were careless with my belongings which resulted in multiple damages. The compensation for those damages was insulting and caused me to have to pay a ton of money to have items replaced, fixed, and or cleaned. Offer Pad scheduled another move, but it was not until two days later which caused me a lot of issues on my transition between homes. I had to take off two days' work to make up for the lost time. Day two movers were better, but they did not get all my belongings moved and just left with a "sorry". Not acceptable and once again caused me to have to pay more money to hire another moving company to complete the job. Bellhop was what was provided to me through Offer Pad. I will never use or recommend Bellhop for anything! Absolutely a joke...schedule a move well in advance. Day of call first and say will be an hour late, lead calls and says on my way. Five minutes later get a call from customer service saying they are canceling till the next day at the same time. After much back and forth with corporate they are supposed to show up at 8am tomorrow. Promising a discount but not holding my breath. Wishing I would have gone with another company now. As I've lost many hours of time dealing with this Part two after a no show on day one the 8am start time the next day didn't happen either. Finally had a truck show up around 10 and it wasn't big enough to get everything. Still have to move a few things myself but the good news was with all the run around I wasn't charged which was a stand up thing to make it right. read more

Bellhop is an Uber-style moving company - they arrange contract workers to show up and move your stuff. Our move with Bellhop was a mixed bag. Movers showed up late, but we're professional and wearing Bellhop t-shirts. Due to the late arrival of one of the movers, the contacted truck driver wouldn't let them finish. We had to book a second day of moving, which was a major bummer. The second set of movers was different - one great, the other with a bad attitude. We got moved in with minimal damage to our stuff. Bellhop was great about making sure we didn't pay extra due to the two-day debacle. They even gave us a break on the price to make up for the trouble. 5 stars on the after care, but the stress and hassle on the front end would make me leery to use them again - feels like it would be a roll of the dice. read more

So I called they didn't have the staff, I checked this morning and they had two people scheduled, but at 1130 they did not. They did not call. They did not inform me of any issues. In early April I had the worst moving experience imaginable. But before I explain, my sister did a little research and discovered Bellhops is actually a tech company that is part of the gig economy - they are Uber for the moving industry. Please don't be fooled by their good reviews. I will give you a few highlights of the nightmare from Indianapolis: they had no dollies in their truck - I had to provide at both locations - no tools, no protective pads - consequently my box spring is filthy because it was too difficult for them to use the plastic cover I had provided, and since they ran out of time, they only delivered 30% of my belongings. In addition, I was helping them physically helping them with the move since they were only available until 5:00. They arrived at my apartment at 2:00. I was not told there would only be a three-hour window to complete my move. I had to hire another moving company to pick up the rest of my belongings. But the worst part of all was their disregard for safety during the Covid-19 pandemic. The lead started out wearing a mask and gloves but that soon ended. His helper REFUSED to wear, but did so near the end of the move. Just imagine sweaty, dirty hands touching your bedding during this frightening time. I thought it couldn't get worse, however, it did. When I got on the elevator of my new apartment less than one minute after they finished, one of them had left their sweaty gloves on the elevator floor. If I could give this company no stars I would. This company was hired to move us and stole and damaged my property. The movers stole all of our social security and both certificate cards, rings, damaged every bed we had, broke up 4 of my mirrors, stepped on and shattered another, damaged and broke off apiece of our steps to our new home, and scratched several of our walls up. The shattered mirrors are still in my driveway, and my grandmother's will was laying facedown in my front yard. Not only that they were told not to touch my luggage, got caught in 4K on camera taking it out to put in the truck but never brought it in to our new home. They stole my luggage with jewelry and other personal items in it. Called to report it to company, they filed a claim and seemed very unsympathetic. We are afraid that the workers may try to come back and retaliate and we may end up having to sue this company because they have stolen from us and the company is not doing enough to resolve the issue. 1 star due to a few things: -quoted for three hours with two movers; the move took 8.5 hours along with our two movers asking us to request another mover from Bellhop (we called Bellhop twice but never received an answer). Our movers were very nice but did not seem like experienced movers. -my fiancee (has a bad back) and I (have an injured rotator cuff) ended up moving large items during the last couple of hours or else the move would've lasted until midnight. The whole reason we hired movers was to avoid having to do this! -Bellhop's dolly apparently broke and the movers had to use our dolly and cart. Not sure what would've happened if we didn't have those. -the truck driver (apparently contracted from another company) got tired of waiting and ended up throwing all of our stuff, including new mattress, entertainment center, and bed frame, into the street. My fiancee and I had to hurriedly move all of the big items from the street since it was night time and cars had to swerve out of the way to hitting avoid our furniture. Our boxes also broke open and the movers had to put everything into different boxes. -our furniture was damaged during the move. The movers didn't wrap any of our furniture like support said they would do when I called them earlier in the week. I bought the extra insurance just to be safe but our claims were denied (apparently the insurance company doesn't cover Ikea-type furniture* or "Any commodity or item that by its inherent nature is particularly susceptible to damage or the market value of which is particularly variable or difficult to ascertain", which seems pretty vague) -the movers didn't move everything. Bellhops was extremely easy to use for packing our U-Haul for our one-way move. They worked with us to assess our belongings over the phone and recommended how many movers and time required for the job. Plus, they were exceptionally flexible when we needed to tweak our schedule. Our Bellhops showed up on time and were friendly and enthusiastic to get started. This young crew did a really nice job, in general. For future jobs, they might consider sitting down with the customer and formalizing their strategy (e.g., sequencing of furniture, how they plan to disassemble furniture, which boxes when, etc.) Also, they should also have a toolkit with basic tools, like cordless drill, wrenches, etc; they should presume that the customers tools are already packed. The online quotation I got was $1,174 with 4 Bellhops and a truck, with all cost and taxes included, while the final bill I got was $2,685 for 5 bellhops (although only 4 people showed up) plus $300 miles fee (for 32 miles distance moving ) and $630 truck fee, which were not mentioned in the quotation. I shouldn't even be writing this review, but unfortunately this is what it has come to. I was supposed to have movers help me move out of my apartment and load up a truck for me. I received a call from Bellhop canceling due to one of their employees getting injured from a previous job unfortunately. I understand these things happen and this is the liability of your company. Though I wish your employee well wishes, you did not wish me the same during my move. You cancelled on me with short notice and did not offer to send another employee and said you are keeping my deposit...? The deposit secured my spot that you could not uphold on your end. I have sat on hold for over an hour one day and over 45 minutes the next with your company to no avail. You have continuously wasted my time. While still refusing to return my deposit, you just tried to move my moving date which I obviously cannot do as I am paying by day for my moving truck and am moving out of state which you know. Thanks for just wasting my time in which I could not hire a more reputable company. read more

I needed movers on short notice during July 4th weekend and a friend saw Bellhops was running a Groupon, so I thought I'd give them a shot. Booking was a little tricky (there were calls back and forth to nail down a time) but I suspect that would be better with more notice and not moving on a Holiday weekend. I texted the move captain 30 minutes prior to my appointment and quickly received a response that they would be by shortly. Victor and Dylan arrived a little before scheduled and got right to work. They were polite, positive and FAST. They were able to get my mattress and boxspring up the low stairway without any trouble, and happily carried heavy boxes downstairs 2 at a time. Together, they took less than an hour to unload a 15' truck and a small SUV - and that's into a 2-story with a basement. They just worked really well together. I don't think you can request particular movers with Bellhop, which is a shame because I would totally book these 2 guys again. Movers were cool. Team lead showed up on time. Truck and other mover were late. Move didn't start until 1 hour and 45 minutes late and also ended in hour and a half. Bell hop still trying to charge me for 3 hour minimum when I only got 1.5 hours of work and not everything moved due to movers having to leave to do their everyday life. Customer service is terrible and hopefully get resolved. I'm trying to pay for my 1.5 hours I used and no more cause who would pay for time they didn't get. Otherwise I will just have to dispute the charge. Oh yeah, they said they weren't taking the full amount out until 2 days after the move but they took the full amount out of my account 2 days before and now it's a struggle to get anything done with them since they are already paid. They don't care about the customers getting what they pay for. They only care about them getting paid and stealing money from people since that's exactly what that is. DO NOT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WORK WITH THIS COMPANY PLEASE They told me I'd be charged a prorated amount but be booked for 2 hours so that if the work was only 30 minutes I'd get charged only for the time they worked, they charged me the full two hours. ALSO they only sent one mover out when I droves an hour there and back to meet the movers, they then sent another team out later in the day and completely wasted my entire day and a lot of money. I do NOT recommend this business and they scammed me out of my money after I explicitly asked that I was only going to be charged a prorated amount and I was guaranteed to only be charged for the allotted time they worked. They were there from 12:50-1:06 and moved two pieces of furniture and I was given only a 10% discount for them wasting my whole day after only sending one moved out to do a two person job, in total I was charged $178 when I should have been charged less than $25 with the discount. My fiancé and I needed to move from Indianapolis to Chicago, and had already rented a box truck - we just needed help with the heavy lifting and actual packing of the truck! I found out about Bellhops through a google search. The booking process was painless and the price was transparent up front. Adam S. and Ryan H., our Bellhops, were right on time and very professional. Adam S., our lead Bellhop, was clearly very experienced and had no difficulties taking the lead. I was impressed he brought lifting straps with him even though we didn't ask him to - and they came in handy with some particularly heavy furniture. He also expertly packed the truck. We were concerned we wouldn't have enough space but he balanced the load well and really got creative making everything fit just right. Ryan H., though a newer mover than Adam, had a great attitude and worked really well with Adam. The two got us fully loaded ahead of schedule and saved us a lot of sweat and tears! We were extremely satisfied with the service. I would use Bellhops again and would recommend them to anyone. I can't comment on their truck rental services, but if you rent your own truck their labor-only option is a no brainer! read more

TL;DR: Bellhop screwed me by scheduling my move on the wrong day, then told me they had to cancel 12 hours before my move leaving me to move an entire 4 bedroom house by myself. No apology or empathy at all from Bellhop. Details: I called and reserved movers for 8 am on Thursday, October 10th and had the customer service rep confirm that date/time twice over the phone. On Wednesday, October 9th, i received a text confirming that my Bellhop service was scheduled at 8 am on FRIDAY, October 11th...THE WRONG DAY. So I called in to see if there had been a mistake and the customer service rep told me that there was no mistake and that the movers were indeed scheduled on the wrong day. When I asked for them to schedule the movers for Thursday, October 10th (the original agreed-upon move date) they apathetically told me that they were booked up that day and that I would have to keep my scheduled move date on Friday, October 11th. The problem with this was that we were scheduled to close on our house at Noon on Friday, October 11th and there was no way that we could have coordinated this move while turning the keys over to the new owners at noon. I explained this situation to the customer service rep and did not even receive an apology for the mix-up...they simply told me that I would have to keep the wrong reservation or cancel my service. Long story short, I cancelled my service and had to scramble to get a Uhaul reservation 12 hours before we were set to move our entire lives 50 miles away and we had to move everything ourselves. I have not receive even an apology from Bellhop and they have done nothing to show that they are sorry for screwing my entire move up. read more
