One of the worst experiences I've ever had with a moving company. We hired this company after a flood to pack up our belongings so repairs could be done and then move everything back in. We paid a very large amount for this service and also paid extra for their insurance coverage specifically to protect our valuables. During the packing process, they broke several items worth thousands of dollars. When we filed a claim, instead of taking responsibility or honoring the insurance we paid for, the owner was rude, dismissive, and outright hostile. We were essentially told "too bad, you should've packed it yourself," and "if you didn't want it broken, you shouldn't have hired us." That is completely unacceptable, especially from a business that charges for professional packing and insurance. Not only did they fail to protect our belongings, but they also refused to fairly address the damage and spoke to us in a shockingly unprofessional and offensive way. We trusted them during an already stressful time after a flood, and they made the situation much worse. I strongly warn others: do not use this company if you care about your property or expect basic professionalism and accountability. I was recommended this moving company by my leasing office and I CANNOT do the same for others. First off, my movers Lane and Brock were GREAT and this review has nothing to do with them. The customer service was unprofessional to say the least. I called ahead multiple times weeks before my move to confirm that everything was good to go for my 1130am move. Fast forward to move day and I call 1 hour ahead of my move time to confirm, the guy on the phone told me he "forgot to schedule my time window" and that the movers would be running 30-45 minutes late. Over the course of the next 4 and a half hours, I was left in the dark, no phone calls, no texts, no call backs from William who I spoke with. I get that other moves can take longer than scheduled, but no contact for 4 AND A HALF hours is unprofessional and absurd. Finally, after calling the office number repeatedly over that time period, I received a call back from someone named Bobby who told me that they had guys in the area that would be there within the hour, again, no contact for 2 hours. Eventually, I get a call back from Bobby telling me hes sorry for the inconvenience and that hed knock off 5% of my hourly rate for the inconvenience, which is HILARIOUS and a completely disrespectful offer, but at that point in the day, I just wanted the move to be over. Eventually my two movers Brock and Lane came and knocked out my move in 2 hours, they were extremely understanding with my situation, very nice and moved fast and efficiently to get me moved. They were the only reason this review gets the star. Having an absolutely horrible experience with this company. I was quoted $150/hour to move my storage unit items to my event venue in Greensburg. I was abundantly clear on expectations and even sent pictures and dimensions. The company sent the wrong sized truck and told me (after being completely done) that they needed to make two trips that I am now responsible for funding. Alex (dispatcher) told me on a recorded line (I record all my local calls) that this was the company's fault for misjudgment but there is "absolutely no way" to facilitate the move without me paying additional money. One of the worst experiences we have ever had moving. They quoted us for 4-6 hours with 6 hours as the maximum estimate. It took their movers over 12 hours to move us. They sent over inexperienced movers. I don't know much about moving but I do know the heaviest furniture should go first. They insisted on moving boxes first. They wasted hours of our time and only recorded a short break even though I saw them not doing any work and have photos. They missed multiple items on a second trip and then charged us for the mistake and having to turn around. They also scratched our brand new floors in the move in. Overall it was a terrible process and we ended up paying 1000 more than we had expected. Their solution to the delay was trying to add more movers and increase the cost per hour. These two men came on time and were soo careful with all of our belongings. They were so personable and had us moved into our new apartment within 4.5 hours! And all that in the heat!! I hired Colt Moving for packing and moving services. The movers themselves were for the most part fine. Special shout out to Dorian. He works his tail off. However, there were a few things that really made me uneasy about my experience. First, the quote I received said the move would start at 8am but the movers didn't show up until 10am. The move took twice as long as what was quoted and required two trips. Not a huge deal and I will take ownership on my lack of preparation. However, items were left behind at our old house, including artwork that was left facedown on the ground and an entire bathroom that went untouched. Hardware for a trundle bed was never given to me and is lost. Trash from the movers was left lying around at the old house, including a pizza box and fast food cups. I had to spend time moving stuff that should have already been moved and picking up their trash. Then I witnessed one of the movers constantly on his phone. I'm cool if you need to take a break and check your phone every once in a while, but it's not cool when it slows down your work. Especially when I am paying by the hour. That same mover arrived at the new house from the second trip at around 3am arguing with someone on his phone. He was talking very loudly and walking up my new neighbor's driveway. I had to ask the other movers to get him to stop to make sure he didn't wake my new neighbors. While he continued arguing on the phone, I stepped in to help unload the truck. Very unprofessional... All of this could have been made right when I submitted a complaint and asked for some sort of refund, but was completely dismissed. I would advise looking into other companies for your move. HORRIFYING experience. Even worse post-move support. Showed up at 7:30 PM on move day, damaged multiple items over $2K in value, got $180 6 weeks later. I scheduled Friday move. While I was calling the office for status updates starting at 10 AM every two hours and hearing that "they are wrapping up a job and you are next on the list", the movers called me at 6 PM to inform me they had been assigned and were over an hour away. I was assigned another truck crew as well and both parties arrived at 7:30 PM. Just imagine your entire family's life in boxes and just starting a whole house move at 7:30 at night. When the movers opened the truck, my toolbox (which was not secured to the truck wall in any fashion; even with a toolbox fee applied) was on its face in multiple pieces. Completed dented and drawers will not close. I locked the unit prior to moving and had to GO AND BUY a prybar (since mine was... you know in the locked toolbox) in order to open the drawer. I had a table and chairs, which the chairs were brought inside but we could not locate the table. Days later when we were on a walk around the new neighborhood, I located two of the table legs just on the side of the road. They threw the thing out their window driving away and did not even inform me. Office staff is so unprofessional stringing me along all day with them "right around the corner". Was charged full price on all moving hours even with having to put my family in a hotel for the night without having any beds for our young children until midnight arrival. "Coverage" for damaged items is beyond laughable. It is deplorable. They calculate coverage on "weight" up to a max. So for the $1000 toolbox, they gave me $60 WHEN THEIR GUY DID NOT STRAP THE TOOLBOX ON WHEELS TO HIS TRUCK WALL. So my total experience with Colt: $1,500 charges for service $500 tip to the movers ($2K in damages - $180 "reimbursement") $200 hotel for family due to ridiculous late arrival on move day $3,820 to ruin what was supposed to be most exciting time moving my family to our new house. My July move was a nightmare. My closing date changed and I was not able to book the wonderful movers I had used in the past -- looking thru FC Tucker's vendor referrals portal -- I found Colt Moving with high reviews. I called and asked for an estimate -- trying to explain there was about half of my 1800 sq ft home that needed packing with some very difficult areas -- kitchen and closets. My original quote was reasonable and the company said they could accommodate my move date and could finish the job in one day. On the move day, the team was over two hours late -- this was never communicated in my estimate for planning. They started packing at 2:00 pm and did not finish the job at my new home until 2:00 am the next day. At first the team was decent -- but as the move wore on -- they complained at the amount of items I own and made me feel awful -- when I was paying for the work. They did not bring Sharpie pens -- so not many of my boxes they packed were not labeled. They also kept complaining they did not bring enough supplies -- this was not the case as I have opened many large boxes with only 2-3 small kitchen items inside. The total job ended up more than double my quote -- I was forced to add more workers to complete (because what am I going to do when I am single and need be out of my sold home) -- and after all of that -- they force you to say you are satisfied with the job when it is complete and ask you to write reviews on Google and social media channels for them to receive a bonus. I tried to be polite -- but after how they made me feel -- I just wanted them out of my new home. I have never felt more taken advantage of on paying for a service and would not recommend them to my worst enemy. I usually do not leave reviews -- but -- want to put my honest experience out there. If you need a reliable and trustworthy company -- I recommend Sherman Movers -- I wish I would have been able to continue with them and was so disappointed that I chose Colt Moving. Also -- Colt Moving packed two of the four oven burner covers at my old home. The new owners contacted me and I have been unable to find them. I do not understand why those would have been packed when I was clear that all appliances stayed with the home. From start to finish, worst experience moving that I or my husband ever had! I'd give them one star but SOME of the crew seemed to actually care about how our furniture was treated! I'd messaged and spoken to several people at Colt in the Westfield location (I didn't know there was more than one location, since just the one showed up on Angi) and an estimate was sent.  When I called to schedule it, I was told that since I lived on the SE side of Indy that it would save me money if I booked with the south side office and they'd have someone from there call me instead. Phil from the south side office called, but he was driving at the moment so he couldn't write down my to/from addresses, and he asked me to text them to him so he could write up a new estimate.  I texted him the info right away (that was on a Monday).  By Tuesday I hadn't heard back from him so I texted him again and asked him to email me the estimate and the earliest available dates.  He replied about an hour later and said he'd have the estimate in my inbox that afternoon.  Tuesday evening he texted again and said he'd schedule me for July 6th at 9:00am, for 2 crews/2 trucks. By that Thursday evening I still hadn't received the estimate, I hadn't received any kind of confirmation that July 6th had been actually booked for me, and although I texted Phil again that morning to ask if I need to sign any paperwork or put a deposit down (and get that estimate) I still hadn't heard back from him. After emailing the company to let them know I was very concerned that I hadn't received an updated estimate or any kind of written confirmation that my move was actually scheduled, I got a text back from Phil that just said they do not require any deposits or down payment to reserve my move, but he can confirm we were confirmed for July 6th at 9:00am "not sure why the estimate isn't making it to you. The only difference from the original estimate received was the travel fee (was $1248, now $1056 - total for both trucks)." When moving day came, the crews were nice and the lead guy talked me into adding the upgraded insurance since it covers up to $600 per item damaged (and we have a few family heirlooms that would be much more than that to fix), they seemed to be pretty careful with our stuff but when we got to the lawn equipment they asked if we'd removed the gas from everything... WHAT?! This was the first I'd heard of that! My husband was 2 hours away at the new house, and we didn't have a gas siphon so I had to go buy one and proceed to siphoning gas out of all our lawn equipment! They got everything loaded, barely, and they went to eat lunch so I headed to the new house. Three hours later they arrived, and my husband assisted with giving directions to the guys on where to put everything. During the unloading they broke our big cabinet/headboard set ("that happens with OLD FURNITURE!" was the reply given to my husband by the crew member!). SO many items with scratches and dents, two heirloom dining chairs badly damaged (one had two legs completely broken off!), and gouges in newly-painted walls. I took pictures of everything broken or damaged, submitted it all, and can you believe it... I got a check for $150!!! I mean seriously, after spending $4500 with them to move, and all the issues along the way they give me back not even half of the cost of the insurance?! This review has been pending for a while and I fully intend to insert names as an edit when I find them - but all I can say is WOW. Hands down, this has been the BEST moving experience of my life. From scheduling the move, to the courtesy of the team, their efficiency...5 stars! The gentleman who scheduled my move over the phone was attentive, knowledgeable and provided costs to me upfront. There was no confusion on what we would be paying and they had plenty availability for the day that we wanted. The morning of our move, the gentlemen called me 30 minutes before arriving and guess what? They arrived EXACTLY at their start time! They promptly got to work, asking us during a quick walkthrough what things we needed packed up (apartment move to a house). They were friendly, laughing and talking to us, and very swift. They packed up our apartment and attached garage in a few hours and set off to our storage unit to pack the rest. YES - they stopped at our storage in the middle of the move to get the rest of our belongings! On the way to our new home, a 3rd mover from their team called me to inquire if I wanted to have a 3rd person to keep making the move go faster (as a member of the first team's shift had ended). I said yes, and the new team member showed up with the original team and kept going. I can't stress how polite these young men were! They gave us recommendations and asked our preferences all day! The biggest thing of all was that they moved a 400 lb safe up to the top floor of my house with not a scratch to any floor or wall!!! I was blown away. These young men were so considerate that they changed their shoe covers EVERY TIME they walked onto our new flooring and carpet! DO NOT HIRE!! Incompetent, disrespectful, paid way more than quoted Our experience with Colt Moving was terrible! The 'lead' mover was Ayden. When scheduling the move, it was determined that it would take 8 hours to move and a semi. After the first 4 hours, the semi was not even 1/3 of the way full. Due to how slow they were moving and how often they were stopping to talk, my family and I started moving items out as well. My family and I carried ALL of the boxes up from the basement and down from our upstairs floor. We moved majority of the garage and the patio furniture. We placed it next to the semi, so that they could load it. Two additional movers came to help after the first 4 hours. One of the new movers came over to apologize for how slow it was going. He was very angry with the original crew. This mover was going to take apart our treadmill, so he wanted to show me how he did it for ease of rebuilding it. The lead mover Ayden told him that he should show 'my husband' instead of me. I am a fully capable and intelligent woman! My entire family was offended by this comment and others that he made. As we neared the 10 hour mark, it was clear they were not going to fit all of our items into the semi. After they fit all that they could, Ayden came over for us to pay him. He apologized saying that if they would have packed the first half of the truck better, then all of our belongings would have fit. We ended up paying A LOT more than our quote, and we had to rent a U-Haul last minute to get the rest of our belongings. Overall, the movers were disrespectful, slow, incompetent, and did not finish their job. We moved out of the state, so not being able to take all of our belongings was a very big deal for us. We had a different company unload the semi. After taking off the first couple of rows, they could see all the way to the back of the semi. They apologized for the previous movers. We paid for a semi and only used a portion of it. I called Colt Moving's office to try to get this resolved. Bobby was my contact there. He did not assist me at all. I told him what happened. I had a horrific experience with this company. The young men were friendly, but did not appear to be trained at all, or were insufficiently trained. I had extensive damage to my property and the company seemed not to care at all. They had no preliminary organization and the 'lead' seemed quite unable to lead. I would advise all people, and especially, (just my opinion), older women or younger ones without a witness, to use a different moving company. I'm not suggesting all of their teams are as poor as the one I had, but you are, apparently from my experience, taking quite a gamble when you use Colt. read more

Worst moving experience EVER! I was all packed and ready to go. They were so slow! One guy just kept standing around, my two 98 pound daughters carried more boxes then him. I offered to get them (2 guys) help to move my refrigerator, but they said "no, we move these all the time." They dropped it and broke it. I spoke to the managers and they said they would not cover the damage. They did offer to buy it from me (and take it) but they offered me nothing compared to what it is worth! It cost me $500 to repair the mechanicals they damaged. The wood can not really be repaired. If they break something there insurance 69 cents a pound--and beyond that they don't care. I've used other movers, and will never use anyone but Colt again. They take pride in their work, and it shows. The guys helped us move during COVID, and took extra precautions to keep us safe. UPDATE: With 126 boxes to unpack, going back 5 times for more loads that were left, and still having to work, we finally got unpacked after 3 weeks. I have never taken this long to unpack. In the meantime, we unpacked more issues. I had to purchase TV power cords, Computer power cords, had antique irreplaceable items that belonged to past family members. The company did reach out with a "complementary refund" of $200 with the first complaint. When I ended up finding so much more, and being exhausted by doing a lot of the movers work, they asked me to fill out forms. Which I did, That was on Friday, January 12, 2024. Today is January 22, 2024 and I have sent multiple emails to get a response. This company has now "ghosted" us, which speaks volumes of their service. I have all the times and emails I have sent without a response. I even sent one today asking if they were going to respond. Nothing. Please know, with the $200 that would also bind us to not leave our review. We are NOT cashing a $200 check when we spent OVER $6000 for the move. I want to have the right to let all of you know exactly what this company is like, and refuse to cash a check basically being forced to keep my mouth shut. It seems they "pad" their reviews because if you look at lower star reviews, other people have the same problem that we did. I wish we would have looked at those vs hiring them. I would advise ANYONE to stay clear of this company that seems shady. Original review: I have moved many times in my life including across country and have never had such a horrible move! If I could give a -1 I would! I have attached photos and screenshots of my communication or lack of communication from this company. First of all we had this company pack us due to a lot going on. One person packed the downstairs bedroom and a different did the entire upstairs. The one that packed downstairs wrapped the dressers with plastic so the drawers would not open. The one that packed upstairs, took every article of clothing from the dresser and put it in a box (multiple boxes). Secondly, the person who packed the upstairs would fill boxes half full or not even half full. I later found out on the move that the one that packed the upstairs was related to the owner. So I guess that is why they used every box they could, since we were paying for the boxes. There was only one section of the house and garage that was not to be moved. I was getting my mom out of the hospital the day of the move, so I didn't notice a lot. However, the next day I went and looked and basically me and my family ended up moving 5 truckloads of stuff they missed. I did not take many photos of our loads because it was dark and we were trying to get done. The photo of the closet is one that I reminded them 3 times. They asked if I minded if the coats were in a bag, which I didn't mind. However they took the CLEAN mattress cover off the mattress and used that as a bag that they drug outside, because of the dirt and stains on it. When reaching out to the company, basically they don't know before a move if something is dirty before they move it. That mattress cover was used twice! We ended up with a broken gravy boat, a glass from my grandmother that was a 70 year old antique glass, and three plates. Lastly, we were told they would not be moving cleaning supplies. I opened a box of cleaning supplies thrown in a box vs placed which had ammonia and bleach in it. One of the two leaked. That is a pretty lethal combination. This has all been told to the company, however, they have went silent and have chosen to no longer communicate. This is the worst experience I have ever had! read more

I made a reservation with Colt Moving and reserved a 3 man crew with the hopes of moving our master bedroom furniture (bed, dresser w/mirror and 2 night stands; 2nd bedroom furniture, a sectional in the basement, treadmill and mics items. They said the truck would be there between 10-1....we waited and waited. Finally a 2 man crew and truck arrived in a truck that couldn't get up our driveway after 4pm. They called for another crew and truck to help. The 2 inexperienced movers after about an hour only had a mattress and box spring on the truck (they charge by the hour) they were concerned with the 2nd crew getting there instead of filling the truck up with what they could. Finally a couple of hours later the 2nd crew and truck gets there. They were much more experienced than the first crew. While they were moving one of the crew members from the first truck got into it with one of the crew members from the 2nd truck and ended up walking off the job. So now we were down to a 3 man crew. They worked until 1am. They were very meticulous about taking everything apart and putting it back together. They tried to wrap items to keep them from getting damaged but we still had a couple of things that ended up with some damage. Overall the second crew did an outstanding job! They acknowledged the damage took pictures and said someone would be in touch with us. Now if you call the office for claims, they are not very friendly. I called about the damage and scrapes and scratches and mud on our new carpet since I hadn't heard from anyone and the guy was very condescending and referred me to the contract. After giving him some pushback he finally sent a guy out to try to fix it. The guy put something on my carpet that made it worse than it was before he came and that was the last I heard from Colts Moving. read more

Terrible experience. Got quote about two weeks before move. The team showed up and after loading the truck they informed me the rates were higher than I was quoted. They also told me the person that gave me the quote was new on the job. Another issue one of the movers was a new guy on the job and there was a lot of training while loading which added to time I was charged for. I was estimated on the phone it would be 5-7 hours and it was just under 7 hours. They didn't break anything that I can see yet anyway. From all the chatting- to using my restroom for a number 2 - lack of experience putting my furniture back together - and unloading my stuff. Then finding out the bill! I almost had a heart attack. We had quite a large move, and not only was the estimate accurate, but the guys who did the move were awesome. All of our things were handled with great care and the move was done as quickly and efficiently as possible. We also decided to hire their cleaning crew for the house we moved out of and they did an incredible job as well. read more

The quality fits the price. Please see the attached pictures. How come the movers cause this kind of the damage and said it was not their responsibility? It's really my first time to see that. Also the contract said the company did not cover damage or broken almost to EVERYTHING. GOOD LUCK if you choose this company. read more
