Let me start by saying Daniel was excellent! Very tentative and listen to everything that I wanted. This was my first time at this location and I have to tell you I was pretty impressed! They have a nice area to wait and relax. The music is not too loud and the decor is nice. I definitely recommend the monthly plan that's where you get the most bank for your buck! read more

Was a very nice massage therapy center. I had a bad back and they were able to bring relief.

Unfortunately I have to give at least one star, which goes to the therapists and the two very friendly and helpful staff members, Rosa and (can't remember, but I know it's not Masey -who addressed me by my LAST name!). Whoever the franchise owner/manager is, they're never available and never follow up with customers to address issues. Credits have been paid for, so we should be able to use them as we wish, but instead, only one transfer per month, which costs $10/ea and can only be used at this location. Other issues not worth going into, but if looking into whether or not you should utilize this location, don't bother. You can go anywhere else and get better service! BTW...it's obvious the "company response" is generic, so save it. read more

Massage Envy has been the worst customer experience I've ever had. I canceled my membership over a year ago, yet they continued to charge my card monthly without authorization. That's twelve months of money they took before I even noticed. When I finally caught it in June and called, I was told the issue would be "taken care of." Months later, nothing has been resolved. The managers continually avoid my calls, won't return messages, and have offered zero updates or accountability. This isn't just negligence--it's fraud. Taking money from my account after cancellation is unauthorized and illegal. I will be filing a lawsuit against Massage Envy for fraudulent charges and pursuing legal action to recover the funds they stole. If you value your money, avoid this company at all costs. I do want to add that the therapists are fantastic here, this review is a reflection on the management of the company and not its therapists. read more

The massage itself and the therapist was wonderful but the receptionist made me feel uncomfortable, I will explain: I was given a gift card and booked a 1 hr massage at the N Gilbert Rd location. I asked at the start if I could please pay up front so that when I was done and feeling sleepy and spacey, I could just go straight home to rest (the gift card covered most of the cost, excluding my tip). I was told she could not let me pay up front because there may be additional charges (even though I had already declined the upgrades she recommended). After my massage the therapist recommended I come back in 2-3 weeks and the receptionist asked me to rebook. I told her I didn't want to schedule another appointment at this time. She then told me all about their monthly membership and asked if I wanted to sign up and I told her no thank you. She then asked me why I didn't want to sign up, which made me go from feeling a little frustrated to feeling upset. I stumbled over my words because I felt too embarrassed to say I just wanted to use my gift card, enjoy a relaxing massage and be on my way. I told her I didn't really have a good answer to give her and that I just wanted to pay so I could go home to rest. Although I spoke in a gentle tone, I felt like my response seemed rude and went home second guessing myself and to be honest I no longer felt happy and relaxed. It felt like I was being pressured to do something I didn't want to do and rather than accept my "no" she kept pushing. I think the membership sounds like a great deal for anyone who wants to come on a regular basis and I understand it's important to let clients know it is an option, but to try and pressure me into it and then put me on the spot after politely declining just made me decide to not come back. read more

Got a message for the first time in awhile, Amanda was great! She has great at hearing what you want, I feel so refreshed! Thank you Amanda!

Horrible front desk service. I was in there a few days ago and I heard one of the FDAs being rude and speaking about a client. stating she was fat. This is so unprofessiona. I will be finding out her name and calling corporate. She was the skinny white gal. read more

I waited to leave this review to see how things worked out - trying to give them a chance to make this right. Three months and three unauthorized charges to my credit card are enough for me to be clear, it's time to leave my review. My one and only massage here was terrible. That actual massage was average. What made it terrible is that the masseuse never stopped talking....how she was erroneously fired, then hired back; how she refuses to do any of the upselling services because she's allergic and then explained how ridiculous the markup on those services is; basically how much she does not like working there...the whole hour! Never once asking if things were ok for me. Then I got talked into the membership when I checked out. I'd been in a car accident and knew I would be getting regular massages, so it seemed to make sense. But every time I tried to schedule, they were booked out at least a week. I need to be able to schedule a massage with a day or two notice, not getting in for at least a week does me no good. I was assured I could cancel at anytime with no penalties or notice needed. So, within 3 days of signing up, I called the store repeatedly to cancel my membership and either got no answer or was placed on hold and forgotten about. So, I emailed. I emailed the store twice - no response. I emailed the ME concierge and got a response asking for some more information so she could help me. I provided it. Nothing since then. It's like being taken into a cult that they won't let you leave! read more

Massage envy is the worst with their billing, packages and process to schedule. It's a huge ordeal for every appointment. When it renews. They charge incorrectly all the time. Massages are good and reasonable price but the scheduling and billing process is a disaster! They should just stop with the member and non member prices. Charge a fair price for a good service and stop with the membership scheming. Their systems are too complex for their people to use with too many options to pay. They told me I couldn't use a gift card to pay for a membership and minimum membership term is 6 months. I have canceled my membership and will go some places else going forward. What a mess! Their exec team should be fired for how awful of a customer experience it is! That's why they want you to pay after the massage so they piss you off after with their disastrous scheduling and billing process not before. read more

I use to be a member here years ago but canceled my membership for frequent cancellations day of our hours prior. New Year's Eve day 12/31/23 I booked a massage with Victori aka Victoria she was somewhat rude condescending and dismissive I could tell she didn't want to be there. During my consultation her tone and demeanor just put me off. She would ask questions and roll her eyes and shake her head. I really got the feeling she didn't want to be there and it was noon on a Sunday. I didn't want to be there either after speaking to her. I didn't want to waste my money or be in a room with someone for an hour. I walked out during the consultation. I will never visit this location again. read more

One of the best massages I've ever had surprisingly. Was a tad bit nervous about my masseuse being the opposite sex. lol. Silly, I know! My experience was great with the massage therapist I had! It was very relaxing and it helped with some of my pains that I was dealing with. My somewhat low rating is mainly based on the prices going up again. Greedy greedy place that will cut off its nose to spite its face. Yuk. Also only one person to work a 2 hour massage and the rock at front desk is not even allowed to contact them. I had a terrible customer service experience at another location, I did not get what I booked and paid for. Nor wad the service up to my expectations. The general manager of that location provided me with a complete refund on gift cards. Today I had scheduled service to use those gift cards at this location on Gilbert road. And this location refused to accept the gift cards at the full value. I was willing to give this company a second chance come up and they blew it. read more

UPDATE: The manager reached out to me to explain the issue. He more than made it up to me by and I am very grateful. I would recommend this location to anyone - very professional! The manager is refusing to answer my email, so unfortunately I feel I have to make my complain public via Yelp. I cancelled my membership because I just wasn't using my credits fast enough - the service I received form the massage therapists was always wonderful. When I cancelled, the manager let me know that he would work with me on using my remaining credits; these were his exact words: "IF you need more time we can work with you on that. We can also transfer them out to friends and family. However, when I tried to access my remaining credits, I was told they expired and there was nothing they could do. I even offered to restart my membership. I emailed the manager, but was ignored. I just want to use the credits that I paid for! Or at least transfer them to my husband who is till a member. read more

Last week I had the most uncomfortable massage that I've ever had. I've been a member of massage envy in the past and no one has ever massaged the front of my neck. I'm a license cosmetologist and was trained to give facials- if your touching the front part of the neck you always go up towards the face. This man that was giving me the massage spent more time than anywhere on my body- on my front neck. Going from the middle out to the sides over and over where I was feeling choked. I asked him to stop and he matter of fact said I can stop the whole massage. He mocked things I said. Was complaining it was to hot in there as he's heavily breathing massaging my neck. I didnt say anything when I checked out cause I was honestly freaked out by this therapist. He told me I had no knots or issues so I shouldn't come back. I had so many knots in my upper shoulders directly after leaving. I felt really uncomfortable but I have a rule to always sleep on it and see if it still bothers me the next day. Well it did... so I called and left a message for the manager explaining everything that happened... and guess what? No call back. Nothing. A customer is uncomfortable, calls and complains, and no one calls or follows up. It's been almost a week now and nothing. I don't know about the other therapists but the fact that a manager didn't call me back makes me never want to try this place again. As for the therapist I had... he was a guy with glasses. I never want to get anyone fired... I even said in the message that they should talk to him about proper massage techniques. Please beware when booking! read more

Please do not use Massage Envy on Gilbert and Guadalupe in Gilbert, AZ. My husband and I went in there today for a massage and my wedding ring was stolen from my purse. I took my jewelry off and placed it in my purse and my wedding ring was the only thing stolen. The Gilbert Police was contacted and they are currently investigating this case but I will never use a Massage Envy again. This was my first and last time using them! I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau on Monday along with contacting their corporate offices. I will continue to use New Serenity Spa, a place where you can go and get a nice massage and not worry about them stealing from you or taking anything from you without your permission. Massage Envy it is not over!!!!! read more

I am editing my original post due to my last experience at this location. I went online to set an appointment and typically you receive a call to schedule an appointment within 24hrs. This is a great option to a busy life if it works properly. I never received a phone call. I called the business and asked them to explain why I did not get a phone call. They said they prefer the customer to call because they don't always check their e-mails where the online appointments go. This means to me they are lazy and really don't care about their customers. I like massage envy, but I will be transferring my membership to a new location. Previous post: I really enjoy the concept behind massage envy. The fact you can have a membership and get at least one hour massages every month. You can upgrade to a 90min massage at a low cost then if you were not a member. They give courtesy calls if you have racked up credit for massages and seem like they really care for the well being of their customers. So why a 4 star instead of a 5? The masseuse doesn't remember the customer. I know they see lots of people every month, but at least you can take some notes on a clients chart. Read these notes ahead of time and ask some personal questions from the last visit. You know like, how have you been since last I saw you? We worked a lot on your neck and back how did that work out for you last time? You know it's the small personal touches that really make you feel welcome! That's my only complaint. read more

I've had a membership for almost 2 years now as I found massage to be the most effective treatment for my chronic back pain. It is so wonderful when I can get in but that never happens when I have a flair up and most of the time it is debilitating. All the locations but especially the ones in Gilbert are always booked out weeks or months even. I recently had to make some financial cutbacks, and this was one. I had about 12 unused sessions since I have trouble getting appointments when I need them, so they have an option to freeze your account and you can pay $20 a month to "catch up" on your unused sessions and not be charged the full amount. I did that and managed to get it down to 6 sessions before the account automatically unfreezes and the now raised price continues. I was told that I have to pay one month before I can do the freeze option again. I have moved pretty far but you have to go through your home location, and I couldn't remember which that was so I called one in gilbert and asked if they could tell me. Initially she just said Gilbert I asked which one and after a couple minutes she managed to give me the Highland location and phone number. I contacted them and asked if they could send me the form. They send it in a pdf format, so you have to print it out sign it and send it back. I sent it back as a screen shot and they called me and asked if I could convert it to a pdf for them! Ok fine but I had to have my husband do it at work, so it took 3 more days. I send it back and a couple days later they respond saying we aren't your home location, so you have to send it to this other location.... Ok. Send it to the 3rd location and they respond this time saying we received your form, but it looks like you do not qualify for the freeze plus at this time because you have only 5 unused sessions and it requires a minimum of 6 sessions. WTF! Good on you Massage Envy I see your game you deliberately screw around for days so that people are forced into another month of payments by some technical anomaly. I had a massage on Tuesday and they waited till Wednesday to respond and tell me I no longer qualify when I have been trying for 2 weeks to get it to the correct location. I know this may not seem like a big deal, but I am financially strained at the moment and businesses like this piss me off. I will be contacting the manager tomorrow but expect I will be told there is nothing I can do as it states in the contract. If by some miracle they rectify the situation I will revise this review. Edit: So I have spoken to the manager at this location and as expected there is nothing that I can do besides cancel my membership so the 2 years I have been a "member" really means nothing. I was told that I could not be on freeze plus because I only have 5 sessions now somehow I have 6 but am told that you can only be on the freeze option once every 12 months... what a coincidence. I told the manager I have been told by numerous people that I can simply restart the freeze plus option once I have made a full month payment that was the only stipulation she laughed and said that she just got done talking with higher ups and they said this was the rule. When I was told this is not the case and that I can only pay like normal or cancel my membership I was upset and raised my voice (did not cuss) and the manager started telling me I was being rude and she would not talk to me any longer. I've been in customer service I know when rude customers start yelling you have a right to tell them to calm down but not as soon as a conversation starts being difficult. I bit my tongue and continued the conversation for the little good it did me. She is sending me the paperwork to cancel my membership and I will be done with these games. It's a shame because this is probably the only way to get affordable pain relief aside from popping aspirin 10 times a day. read more

I had great, friendly service from everyone I spoke to today at this location. I was checked in quickly, offered water or tea, and led to a clean and tidy restroom and a comfy waiting area. Ugh. I had an appointment tomorrow and have been scheduled for a few days. Today at 1 PM, I was left a VM about them not having a cc on file for me. At 20 after 3, they cancelled my appointment. I am very disappointed. I have been a client of Massage Envy for well over a decade and this has never happened to me before; I have visited many different locations. Based on this, I have to think that it is a policy/ behavior of the management of this particular branch. Here were my major concerns about the cancellation: 1. I have been a member for more that 15 years... not really a non- payment risk. I had a massage at Dobson last week and they charged my card on file. I understand that the locations are separate entities and do not share info, but this just seems ludicrous. 2. I get only 2.5 hours to respond to a voicemail the day before my appointment? God forbid I spend 3 hours at my mom's actively installing a light fixture. I am not physically connected to my phone you know. 3. ME charges me if I change an appointment within 24 hours - with no contingency for emergencies! But, I get fewer than three hours to respond to a voicemail message? ONE voicemail message? Not even an accompanying text? Seems legit... 4. How does this make sense? I have an appointment in less than 24 hours. ME would rather have an unfilled appointment because I don't have a cc on file? Seems like a solid business decision... 5. It's frustrating that they just cancel via text... would it have been too difficult to send a vm AND a text the first time? Not that I would have seen it, it just seems like a reasonable courtesy. 6. Perhaps the ME website for booking could have a notice about this? *If it it your first time visiting this location, please call location to put credit card on file.* Seems easy enough. I find this situation ridiculously frustrating and asinine. I know that, based on their treatment of me, they will not miss my business..., but, I will not ever visit this location. Perhaps, they could consider giving their clientele the same 24 hour courtesy that they demand from their customers. I am deeply disappointed by this. I have come to trust ME as a place where I can go to alleviate stress and pain. This action actually caused me anxiety and frustration. read more

UPFATED AT BOTTOM: I massage I received on Wednesday November 21st 2018, is the one that made me decide to cancel my 7 year membership. The MT talked about herself, and her personal life the ENTIRE time I was getting a massage. I don't know about anyone else, but personally I don't want to hear about someone's colonoscopy while I'm getting a massage. And the biggest thing? I have been getting deep tissue massages for over a decade now, I have never been unable to walk correctly afterward because of pain. It is NOT soreness. It feels like a muscles are so messed up I cannot stand up straight (I have NEVER had this issue EVER). I will likely visit the ER today, as I am unable to walk correctly and without excruciating pain (a problem I did NOT have before I went in for the message.) I recieved a call from the manager of the location a few days after I posted this review on Google maps. I was asked to recant the facts of what occurred. I was assured how serious the matter would be taken. I was told I would receive a call later that day or maybe the next day from a regional manager, or a CCO, then a follow up from said manager (this is based on what the manager told me over the phone) It has been over a week now, and no such call has been recieved. Crickets . I have now seen a doctor. I am STILL unable to walk/make certain movements, without pain. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GETTING SERVICES DONE HERE!!! read more

Completely f..king useless! Gave wife a gift card for her birthday and they confused her into signing up for some monthly BS deal that she didn't even want. Then god forbid we would actually want to cancel the service without using it. Ended up having to just charge back the charges on the credit card for services not rendered. On her initial visit, rather than being made welcome, they made her wait 20 mins. Then decided that they were double booked and that she would need to see a different person. Yet they did not provide any credit for the 20 minutes they already considered part of the deal. She describes the massage as more like torture than an actual massage, it was clear that the therapist had no clue what she was doing. Way to turn a nice romantic gift into a horror story guys!!! :( Funny how the only 2 good reviews of this dump are from LA area!!! read more

I have been seeing the same amazing massage therapist for the last 5 years. Unfortunately, her Mon-Thurs schedule doesn't always work with mine which led me to Massage Envy. I had an appointment with Mike, who was friendly enough but defenitely lacking any skills. It was a bad massage, not painful at all, just completely ineffective. It did nothing for me, and it was hard to relax with such thin walls. Seriously, I could hear voices coming from the next room with both doors closed. The girls up front are totally incompetent. They don't do a good job with greeting and can't ring up customers correctly. I left feeling the opposite of relaxed. read more

I had a gift card from Christmas, and was able to get in for a quick appointment. The place was very clean and the the front desk staff was nice, but Karina was awesome. I had a 90 minute massage. My friend and I had appointments booked at the massage envy in Ahwatukee, but they called and canceled last minute due to a call out. We started calling around to other locations and nobody was able to assist. (Or even seemed interested in assisting despite us explaining what took place). My seventh call was to this Gilbert location. They were very sympathetic and placed me on hold to try to figure out what they could do. The girl (I think her name was Leah) came back with two appointments at the same time. We were extremely grateful! We arrived and both went with our massage therapists. My therapist, Sheena did a great job. She paid close attention to what I wrote on my form and adjusted the pressure applied as needed. Overall I was extremely impressed with their professionalism, genuine caring, and top skills. I signed up for their membership club and I can't wait for my monthly massages! read more

How wonderful it is that I signed up at this location.. I never found a good massage therapist here. I decided to go to Gilbert Highland instead. I needed to stop my membership of a year and a half for a couple months so we could focus on paying some other things, everything went smooth. Here I am, 3 days later and my account is charged again after I asked for it to be locked. Called to see what is going on... I got the "our manager will call you" I though this might happen after reading some reviews with the same thing being said. *update* I got a call from them saying they refunded the payment and they apologized it happened. Not so bad. I've been pretty happy so far with them, so because they made me happy I changed from 1-3 stars. Will update if the payment is actually refunded. read more
