I told them i would call back and if the spot was taken I understand. the following day I received an email regarding a whole other service stating I no showed and they charged an old debit card that I have since replaced a full $130 for "missing" an appointment i never booked. they need to fire whoever worked the phones that day. I felt it was important to update my review after this experience because it was unlike any massage I have ever had. I have been to this spa many times before and have always had wonderful experiences with Vanessa. Unfortunately, she wasn't available this time, so I was scheduled with a different therapist. I have never had an issue here until this appointment. I booked this massage because I wanted to relax and get relief from tension in my shoulders, neck, and head. I never requested a deep tissue massage. Instead, the therapist simply started doing one without ever asking if that was what I wanted. Within minutes, I was wincing in pain and told her multiple times that it was too much. I also explained that I get migraines and prefer a gentler, more relaxing massage that focuses on my problem areas. Rather than listening to what I was asking for, she continued with an aggressive deep tissue massage over my entire body. She never once touched my neck or head as I requested, she focused entirely on my arms and shoulder blades. Instead of adjusting her technique, she told me I had so much tension that I needed to schedule at least 2 or 3 two-hour deep tissue massage. By the end of the session, she even instructed me to ice my body afterward because of how intense the massage had been. That alone should have been a sign that this was far beyond what I had booked or wanted. I came in hoping to leave relaxed, not feeling like I needed to recover from my massage. She also talked throughout nearly the entire appointment, which made it impossible to unwind. The combination of the constant conversation and the painful massage meant I never had a chance to actually relax. She also saw me wincing and said that, "sometimes, you have to do the work." I left sore for days afterward, and the massage ultimately triggered one of my migraines. A massage should be tailored to the client's comfort level and goals, especially after they communicate what they want and say they are in pain. Unfortunately, my requests were ignored from beginning to end. I'm incredibly disappointed because I've always had positive experiences here before. Oh my goodness, I came to them desperate with my neck and shoulders almost locked up from stress and tension. They left me feeling absolutely amazing. I recommend the 90 minute deep tissue with hot rocks. It's located in a quieter part of town, but it's a good place to make a day of it near a nail salon and spa. I had a membership with the Chandler location for a few months now. And also about a year of membership in the past. The therapists are all excellent here and the staff overall is friendly. However they completely ruined the birthday experience for my 75 year old mom recently. This location is in my neighborhood, 3 min walking distance from my house so I was not aware they opened up a new location in Gilbert. I made the appointment for my mom, calling into the Chandler location. I was never told on the phone that the appointment is at Gilbert location (which is 15 mins drive away). I didn't know they have another location so I just assumed it is at where I called. On the day of appointment, when my mom got there, there is no appointment there. It was for Gilbert location to our surprise. They wanted to charge a cancellation fee (half the price of massage, it's like $90 fee) for rescheduling so we ended up hurrying to the other location. My mom only got 70 mins and I ended up paying for a 90 minute massage at a 90 min membership rate and they would also not honor the birthday promo 15%. I work from home so I lost an hour pay of my time as well, to drive my mom around. I was upset but what got me more upset is there was not a word of apology "I'm sorry for the confusion but yes, we have two locations etc". When I communicated to the manager (Mea Shank), she insinuated that it is my fault for not reviewing my messages. I never received confirmation emails from them but upon checking later, my mom did receive confirmation messages as texts. It did saying Citrus Massage Gilbert. I'm not saying I'm not at fault. Yes, I should have checked my mom's phone. But she's a 75 year old non English speaking elderly. She also had no idea where the massage is because it is a birthday surprise (not so much anymore with the texts). The business offered no apology, did not honor the promo code and told me I already got a "deal" at membership price (we only got 70 mins, the massage is suppose to be for 90 mins). So yes, I am upset. I asked for refund of $16 (the difference in their so called discount vs what I would have paid) plus my lost hourly pay $50. To be quite honest, if they would have apologized and even give no refund, I would have felt better and would not have written this review wasting more of my time for this business. But they believe they are at no fault and their manager basically implied I go somewhere else because they are okay losing a monthly paying member. Where is the principle of customer service? Good for them, they are doing great business that losing one member is not a big deal for them. I will not be coming here anymore. I am sad to not see my therapist anymore though. For Others: make sure which location your appointment is at. Even if you call one location, it could be at another location. read more

If you have concerns, issues, or feedback, keep them to yourself because unfortunately my experience has been that the owners and management at Citrus Massage are not receptive to them nor do they care for the customer experience. My first visit was for a couples massage. Afterward, I shared feedback that the massage did not last the full hour. We were brought into the room late, and the hands-on time ended up being closer to 45 minutes. This was disappointing, especially since their business model emphasizes a full hour of hands-on massage -- which we did not receive. My second concern involved privacy and information security. I specifically requested that my credit card information not be stored in their system. However, I later discovered -- even after I had ended my membership -- that my card was still on file a year later. I find this extremely inappropriate and unprofessional, and a blatant disregard for my request. If you value your privacy and control over your personal financial information, this is something to seriously consider. My third and most recent issue occurred during a massage with a male provider. I am a few months postpartum and was very clear that I wanted one full hour of complete silence so I could rest and possibly nap. After months of caring for a newborn, I was desperately needing quiet. Despite communicating this clearly, the provider continued to speak during the session, which made it difficult to relax, I had to ask three times to go softer on pressure only to be responded with "I usually have clients who want firm pressure.," "and pregnant/post partum clients are great tippers.." I had tenderness on my pectoral area for a week. I did not make an effort to get child care, to commute and spend my hard earned money on a massage where I had to entertain the conversation of a masseuse who clearly disregarded my request for quiet and comfort. I also mentioned how there were loud conversations happening in the hallways outside our room and that too made it difficult to relax. One thing after another! Overall, I left feeling unheard and disappointed on multiple occasions and when voicing the last visit to management they did not call back when they said they would and a week later on a Sunday, they called and told me not to return. I am a young professional, young mother and I'm a very kind person but I honestly do not recommend citrus massage to anyone. I recommend going to Thai royal massage where you can get a full hour for 50 bucks or going to a resort spa like princess Fairmont where you gain access to a full day of amenities like a rooftop adult only pool, sauna & jacuzzi and truly get the VIP treatment that you deserve. read more

This was my first visit to Citrus Massage as we have tried many others and have not been truly satisfied. This was definitely 5 stars plus from beginning to end. Mia assisted me on the phone to schedule two appointments at the same time for myself and my wife. I had Stephen and he was absolutely fantastic!! Found all of the tight spots in my neck, shoulders and shoulder blades. We got along very well and had some nice conversation. The associates at the front desk were very friendly and the facility was spotless clean and fresh smelling. Love the choices of the aromatherapy. Did not have a good experience with Citrus, never ever got close to a massage table. Scheduled a couples massage @ Chandler, accidently. Called Gilbert, got the time I wanted, good to go. Called Chandler to cancel, they cancelled the Gilbert appointment as well. I never received an email letting me know of the cancellation. I just had the confirmation email for Gilbert appointment w/ patient docs. Day of appointment couldn't get docs to load. Called Gilbert to ask for guidance in completing patient docs but found out we were not on schedule, nothing, nada. The person I spoke to had no idea why. A manager called several hours later indicating that the Chandler location had accidently cancelled appointment. Great! Offered membership pricing for next appointment, really. How about comping one of the couple massages? This wasn't just one person, it was two people that were affected. This was a treat for my wife for babysitting our grandchild for the weekend and sleeping on a different, uncomfortable bed. I had a whole day planned however, the most important part was just cancelled. I think I'll go to another facility that cares about really taking care of a potential customer. read more

I drove by and was instantly drawn to their beautifully designed logo and sign and I just had to google 'Citrus Massage'. The lobby did not disappoint - gorgeously interior decorated by the owner herself and it made you feel at ease. The owner Jacy is SO sweet and so easy to talk to. She really makes you feel comfortable and relaxed before your massage. I don't get massages often, but after going to Citrus Massage, that's going to have to change. Their website lists out the prices in extreme detail and isn't confusing. I've been to some massage places where I have no idea how much an actual massage is or how much an add-on is. You can easily book online and choose if you're a New Client as well and get the New Client pricing of $60 for 60 minute massage, $90 for 90 minute massage. When Citrus Massage says the massage is for 60/90/120 minutes - they mean it! I've been to massage places where the massage is supposed to be for '60 mins', but they count the time you are undressing and redressing and jip you a whole 5 - 10 mins. I got my Swedish massage done by Sidney who was wonderful! She was super attentive and really listened to what I wanted to focus on. 1. Called line was busy left a voicemail never received a call back, even after 2 hours but I said hey why not ring them again because I didn't want to drive all the way to Scottsdale to visit another spa I've been to and alot of other places near me were closed. I did reached someone this when calling again and mentioned I left a voicemail msg etc and the person on the line said they were unsure why I never received a call back and that they just got in themselves. 2. I wanted a 90 minute massage and was offered a 60 or 90 minute massage but shortly after her saying I could come in for the 90min one she said oh I'm sorry actually she has someone after you so I can only offer you the 60 minute now. I just took it but definitely felt my back/body needed a good 90 minute rub down. 3.Was able to schedule a massage but when I arrived early I needed to wait in lobby rather than going straight back which was totally fine but man oh man was it warm in the lobby. They did have a fan rotating but it was not helping much. 4.Lastly I went in with a sore back and came out with a still sore back and now stiffness in my neck. The last 20 maybe 25 minutes was spent on my neck, face up and however my head was positioned and the techniques used didn't feel that great. I was going to say something after the first 5 mins but I just thought it was going to be over fast but I was wrong. Long story short the last part of my massage was my least favorite and I literally had to sit in my car and stretch/massage my own neck for a lil bit just to get on the road. And as far as trying to relieve the back pain I thought the massage would help I spent the rest of my night mostly laying on a heating pad. read more

I scheduled a 60 minute deep tissue massage and was really looking forward to it after just having a baby so my body was very sore from pregnancy. The customer service was great so I can't complain there. The actual massage itself was just terrible. I felt zero relief. The massage therapist was basically grazing her hands over my body and did not work into the tissue at allZ It was light and when she did ask if I wanted her to go harder I said yes - but when she worked "harder" it was only for a brief moment and actually hurt, not because of the pressure but the areas she was pushing in. There wasn't skill in her massage. I've had many professional massages and this was by far the worst I've had. She also didn't warn me about putting a hot towel on my back and it startled me suddenly having a steaming hot towel on my back. You are supposed to announce what you're doing when you bring in other materials to use on the body. I saw a last minute opening on IG the night before and it was just meant to be: booked a facial and massage for my bday weekend. I have a membership here and love it. It's very affordable compared to other massage places and the customer service is great. Every masseuse I've gotten has been great. I treated my best friend from San Diego and my boyfriend to massages here and they loved it as well! They always offer an aromatherapy scent during your massage which I love. The place is extremely clean as well! The only thing I would say I struggled with was the availability. It has gotten better but prior to that I had a tough time scheduling an appointment. While staff was nice, place was clean, my real issue was that my specific massage therapist cut my massage short by a few minutes which I didn't appreciate as I'm paying for a 60 minutes. 60 minutes should have been counted the moment hands touch the body, which wasn't the case for me. Another aspect I found quite unappealing was there were gratuity signs posted throughout that were much higher than the standard amount. While I always tip accordingly to service provided, it is always discretionary to the customer and it is incredibly distasteful to post such signs. read more

I have an insane work schedule so I can't stay with one therapist consistently. Citrus is one place where I know I won't get stuck with a dud. I also have to give this business a big shout out for accommodating a last minute cancellation on my part. Ive gone twice and my muscles have never felt any better. I wanted to cry tears of joy from the relief of trigger points. Their essential oils helps and relieved my congestion.
