I also let my masseuse know that I had an arm tattoo that is still healing (at 4 weeks post-tat, I still didn't want any oil or rubbing on it) and she was super accommodating to this request! I also mentioned that during my last visit, my session started late. I was reassured that it would be noted and shouldn't happen again since she would be coming off a break before my appointment. I arrived early, as I usually do, but no one was at the front desk. I waited about 10 minutes, knocked on a nearby door where I've seen staff before, and got no response. After waiting a bit longer, I needed to use the restroom and went to use it, that's where I found an employee cleaning. She asked if I was checking in, and I said yes but needed the restroom first. When I came out, she was at the front desk and checked me in. Instead of directing me to the locker room to change into a robe, she sent me straight to the waiting area. This felt a bit odd, and while I assumed it might have been because the locker room had just been cleaned, I would have preferred the usual experience. I waited...and waited. At 7:30--10 minutes past my scheduled time--I went back to the front desk to ask about the delay. I was told, "Are you sure your appointment wasn't at 7:30?" even though I had already checked my confirmation email. That response was frustrating. A few minutes later, the massage therapist came to get me, apologized, and we began the session. She did a great job during my previous visit and likely tried her best this time as well, but unfortunately I didn't get much relief. In fact, I ended up having to go somewhere else the following weekend and spend more money. During my last visit, I had relief for weeks--this time was very different. The main reason I won't be returning, though, is how the overall experience felt. After being asked a few times I agreed to add a $10 neck and shoulder work to the reflexology massage. I felt like the reflexology was more of a rub down than actual reflexology and trigger points. When she started on my back she kept saying how bad and tight it was (which it is) and told me I could add 30 minutes back work for $40. I opted in and as soon as I agreed to pay more money, the quality of massage increased immensely. Funny how that works. I found the masseuse to be a little rougher (not with pressure) than I would have liked while stretched and yanking my arms and neck. Bottom line, the reflexology massage wasn't what I expected but the additional back work was nice. Expect them to try and upsale you, even when you say no more than once.
