I pass by this place almost everyday and wanted to give it a try for quiet sometime now. Finally got a chance to visit the place over a weekend for a massage. The place looks like a clinic, dont get me wrong but its just the layout. I was attended immediately and filled some paperwork. On time I was welcomed by my therapist Chelsea. She went over on the areas I was concerned about and explained on what we could do. She seemed knowledgeable. I went with eucalyptus oil for aromatherapy and the massage in general I am not sure what kind of oil was used. The massage was amazing, she seemed well experienced and touched all the areas I had issues with. I really enjoyed my time and wished it lasted forever. Very disappointed I got recent Botox and lasted 34 days I went in and they came up with all these excuses of why it didn't last. Then charged me for a touch up. I will not return and the same thing happened to my sister as well. She talked to upper management and they offered 50%. Her Botox lasted 29 days. read more

I am a new client and my first time in La Vida and was worked on by this young therapist with a name that starts with an S. She suggested to massage the long muscle running down my neck to relieve some tension. Massage therapists should not teach inexperienced people to self-massage this area as this is a crucial area they use for carotid massages. Two unfavorable things can happen - 1) Stimulate the carotid sinus and someone can pass out 2) Dislodge an embolus/thrombus in the carotid artery and give someone a stroke. Self-massages can be helpful but one should be wary of other anatomical structures that are in proximity to a muscle, especially for people who don't know their anatomy. Massage is a relatively safe procedure but can also be dangerous. Don't do any techniques that can compromise circulation. read more

I had a facial from Brianna that was excellent. She gave excellent service and it was a really great experience. I also had a massage from Rose that was great. She can do firm or easy pressure and I like that she checks in about the pressure frequently. They are very cautious and careful in regards to Covid-19 restrictions and I felt safe and taken care of. I wanted to express my elation with the service I received at LaVida Massage. Particularly, for Kelly. I had a massage with her and my hips is what I wanted help with. She worked on them and it was fantastic. I am sitting here now, typing this and I know when I get up from the table, I will not be limping, nor will I be sore. LaVida is amazing! From the front desk to the actual services performed. Everyone there is very nice each time I have went. They are very accommodating to your needs & comfort. I've had facials and massages there with different employees each time and they are all great. I am not a member but my mom is and what is cool is that if my mom did not use one of her credits for a certain month, she able to give it to someone else to use if she likes. I have been to this location for massages a few times over the past past 2 years. Overall, it is a very good experience. Every time I check-in or out, the front desk staff is attentive and friendly. They generally try to upsell you with some sort of monthly package, but I politely decline and they move on. Overall, the massage therapists are good. They ask what you are looking for and generally stick to the plan. I have noticed they are pretty good at not talking (allowing customer to relax) which is very nice. If you direct them to do something more or less, they are good at responding. Given the vast number of Day spas/massage therapy locations in the Valley that offer specials or deals, I'd say La Vida may be slightly overpriced. Might need to bring prices down a bit. I moved to the area about 6 months ago and was happy to find LaVida close by. Finding a great massage therapist that matches my needs can be challenging but was happy to see LaVida had so many therapists to pick from with detailed bios on their website. I lucked out because the first therapist I scheduled with was just what I needed. Andrea is extremely knowledgeable and intuitive. She listens carefully and delivers very high quality bodywork. I work at a computer about 50 hours a week and have the usual tightness, stress and problems from the grind. After my sessions with Andrea, I feel so much tension, pain and stress relief! I'm super grateful to have found her so easily! Also, I really like the membership program and the online scheduler at LaVida. The membership situation was extremely low pressure and easy to cancel if you want to, The online scheduler is super easy and convenient to use. Today was my first time here at LaVida, and my masseuse Ann was FANTASTIC. I have a lot of scar tissue and knots in my mid and upper back and after just an hour with Ann I feel like a new woman. Although I wouldn't have considered getting a membership before I am strongly considering it now. Comparatively speaking, it seems like this place is a much better value than competitors like Massage Envy, where I feel like the quality of your massage experience is based on how good your luck is any given day. I have had to try a few therapists before I settled on one (then she got waaaay to social and talkative so I wasn't finding it relaxing and so I had to find another one there I liked better) but now I really enjoy and look forward to my therapist... reasons why I LOVE her as my therapist: she is well-versed in her job - how the body works and the mind-body connection; she's very experienced; she is has a calm, gentle, pleasant nature about her; she has a gift for her job; she is a yoga instructor, so she has lots of tips; her work is consistently thorough, forceful when needed and gentle when needed... another important fact (to me, at least), she knows when to talk and when not to talk. I love that about her! If a therapist is AWESOME and she won't shut the hey up about gossip - how the heck are you supposed to relax? I'm sure you'll find you want another therapist because the whole point is to relax, not catch up on gossip.. that's what your coworkers are for! The ambiance at the location is very nice except for this nauseatingly stinky potpourri they have in a hot pot that is new and is sooo gross.. besides that tiny little detail, I really like the place - elegant, relaxing, comfortable rooms with appropriate lighting and awesome beds with heated blankets if you chose so. The staff up front have always been great and welcoming. They have a monthly plan.. $49 auto deducted monthly for 1 session and you can share them w/ another person or if you can't make it, they roll over. I should have known better. Don't get me wrong the services are good. The problem is in the membership stuff. I went for a massage and when I came out the lady offered me 1 free month of membership if I sign up today. I believe I even said "Sweet! A free massage!" So today I sent my wife to get this free month's massage and *surprise* she is charged for the massage. When I called, the lady was friendly but told me that they "don't do free months, per say" but rather, they just didn't bill me for the first month (aka free) and that in that first month I get member prices but no massage. (What!?!?!) So then I asked to cancel because this thing is already going sideways. NOPE gotta give 30 day notice. So that "free" but "we don't do free" month basically forced me to have one "not so free" month and 3 massages that I could have got without the membership for basically the same cost. Advantage to me = none. It's like getting a "free month at a gym but you don't actually get to workout, you just get member discounts on merchandise for that month" I work for a large retailer and I know customer service and business well. This is either extremely shady business practice or an employee made a mistake and they won't stand behind it. Either way would you really want to do business here? 7/20/16 - I spoke to Barbara yesterday and she was very understanding and nice. After a brief discussion I told her I would talk with my wife to see if she was still interested in keeping a membership at LaVida and would call her back today. I felt that Barbara was sincere in her remarks and decided we would give it a month and see how it went from here. Then I read the response Eric M, the owner, wrote to my review. In which, with no regard for the customer experience, he tells you in the Yelposphere that the associate has been saying the same thing multiple times a day for a long time, therefore I (the customer) must be the only idiot to misunderstand (paraphrasing). Furthermore he says he is sorry so see me go but just yesterday Barbara told me I still had a membership. So I draw this conclusion from his response. "I have been fired as a customer and I am an idiot because that's the only way I could have possibly been confused". Then apologizes for not being to give me a free massage?? I wasn't looking for a hand out, I have paid for two massages already. I simply expected to receive what had been verbally committed to me or maybe some accommodation or compassion for the confusion that led the uncomfortable encounter my wife had during her FIRST visit. Ugh. This experience just keeps getting uglier. I don't discourage anyone from going here but be wary of their business practices. I'll update if something changes. Sorry for the long read. Update 7/25/16 It's incredible to see Eric's continued lack of customer service on full display via the power of social media (see his response to my review below). I have NEVER proposed, suggested or otherwise implied that I would change my review in exchange for any service. To continue to state I have is a complete and total lie made in desperation. The irony here is that as an owner you eagerly post complete lies and disparage your customers behind social media but made no attempt to call or email me directly to discuss what happened. Instead your approach to customer service was to blame me and accuse me of trying to shake you down for a $50 massage - Wow. I've been frequenting La Vida for about 7 months for pre-natal massages. The entire staff here is very friendly, and all of the massage therapists I've seen are great, but I prefer to see Chella in particular. Chella is great at what she does, has deep knowledge about the muscles and body, and will help straighten out any issues you're having. She is also great company if you like to chat during your massage (I'm a chatterbox), or if you're into silent relaxation, she is fine with that too. If you like to get massages regularly, I recommend signing up for their monthly package where you are charged for 1 massage (whether you make it in or not, it gets deducted from your account) at a discounted rate, and any additional massages booked during the month will be at a further discounted rate. read more

I wasn't sure what their hours were today and called around 4:25 (they closed at 6) and thought it would be too late to make an appointment so i asked about future dates. I get a weekly massage at LaVida. Since it is just one location in AZ, versus being a chain, there is more of a personal feel about the place. There has been some staff rotation, but the Owners seem to take their brand reputation and business seriously. The staff changes have been positive. The therapists offer a variety of skill levels and specialties. You really have to read their profiles on the LaVida app to find the best fit for you. For me personally Andrea is without a doubt the best therapist I have gone to in years of getting massage. She is best in class compared to any of the best spas. Royal Palms, Sanctuary etc. A level of expertise and quality of work that you don't usually find in smaller spas. As an endurance athlete, I have specific areas that need focus during training or after a race. Andrea is able to find the right blend of relaxation and also genuine massage and muscle work. She is friendly, professional and a genuinely nice person. I highly recommend LaVida and in particular Andrea. read more

Totally disappointed... I had to update this review, because of my extremely frustrating experience. I had a massage scheduled for Friday, September 27th at 5:00pm. 5 is pushing it for me to get there, but I scheduled it then, so no big deal, nice to end m y week there, nice and relaxed. So I was rushing to leave work to get there on time. I was at Gilbert and Germann (one street away) at 5pm, gave them a quick call, and told them I would be there any minute (I understand if they had to knock 5 min off my massage). When I called the girl at the front, she wasn't clear in saying they didn't have me down, but said there was a problem, and asked if I could see a male masseuse. I wasn't comfortable with that, and asked what the problem was? Did they not have me scheduled? She said they did but my masseuse had quit, and so they weren't able to accommodate me. Again, I understand that people leave, but they NEVER called to tell me this. They never tried to reschedule me, they never called to try to get me in with someone else. So I was already mad, but I worked in a salon and understand that things happen. However, the girl at the front was NOT accommodating at all. Since I was around the corner I went in to talk to them. Upon my arrival, I informed them that I was going to cancel my membership, seeing as this was my first "official" month of the membership, and I had already been double charged, and now cancelled on with NO notice. She said I would receive a call from Barbara the Spa Manager first thing Saturday, and they would comp my next massage. But I have already paid, and there has been no refund as of yet, so we will see. I waited patiently on Saturday for a phone call, I emailed Barbara on Friday asking her to call me as well, and it is now Monday, and I have heard absolutely nothing. This is the most frustrating part of all of it to me. This would NOT be a one star review if they had promptly called me to resolve the issue. Now I am going to have to reach out to them. Very disappointing, and poor poor customer service. Hopefully they can get it together for the masseuse's sake, or they will have plenty more of them walking out the doors. I highly suggest NOT doing their membership, save yourself the heartache. Maybe go in for the introductory offer if you are looking for a good deal, but they aren't worth it long term. read more
