I never go to massage places, but on a whim, I went to Massage Envy. The "60 minute" minute massage is actually only 50 minutes, as you entering the room and getting ready is part of the time. That is not what bothers me. Afterwards, they pitch the membership and made it sound so easy, such as transferring free massages to others and that I could end the membership at any time. I haven't been back in 5 months and just called to cancel my membership, only to be told that I actually signed a 12-month contract and that I had another 7 months to go. I spoke to the manager, and she said the same as the gentleman I spoke to before her. Clearly, they sweettalk the membership, make it sound so easy to transfer free massages and cancel at any time, but then you sign a contract. So, I will be paying another $560 over the next 7 months until the end of the contract. The one massage that I received will actually cost $960. Thanks, Massage Envy. Well. I have been a member since 2016 and have visited many ME locations and different services. I will have to say, this was the friendliest group of people ever. From check in 5 star. The size of the tranquility lounge large and roomy. They actually had a working water station! Had a wonderful facial with Jess! Highly recommend her. Then Gabriel for a massage. It was not only a massage but he included stretching as well. They were both off the charts! I cannot wait to go back! The only thing I would say is the rooms are very cold, which is nice when it's super hot out but not during a massage. That's the only thing I have negative to say! read more

Pretty disappointed with my massage today considering I come to this location often. I had a 90 minute deep tissue massage with Andrea which is not cheap here and none of my needs were met. I had told her at the beginning of the session I needed most of the time done on my back. She told me because I had a sports bra on that my back couldn't be worked on. Beyond disappointing. The rest of the massage was uncomfortable pressure points and she didn't even work on my shoulders or arms. We also started the session past the appointment time and finished 5 minutes early. Every single front desk person at South Park is very rude! Very unprofessional staff. Every time you come to this location you feel like they do not even want you to be there. I don't mind getting a massage as a lady by a guy if he is professional. I do mind if he looks like an ex-con and asks me to take off my underwear so he could massage my lower back which is not an area I asked for at all. I have never had to take my underwear off for a massage. WTH? Within 10 minutes I left. All he did was move the table up and down, pull the sheet on and off. I've been a member for the last two years and recently the southpark location has become a mess. 3 times now they lost my appt after calling to confirm. They constantly miss schedule the sessions I ask for. Management seems to be no real help. The over all quality is extremely poor. They go out of their way to try to sell me their Murad products, which I don't care for or need. They are very pushy about it and it's very uncomfortable. My husband and I both canceled our memberships and will be taking our business else where. read more

Fiancee booked an appointment for us an hour and a half in advance on 11/5. I had an emergency, so she called 10 minutes after I she originally booked the appointment to cancel my massage, but not hers. They still charged the 50% cancellation fee for mine ($30), because we held that spot for 10 minutes and they couldn't fill it. Her massage was lackluster. Much of the intake paperwork was related to marketing, "how did you hear about us?", etc... I had trouble answering that question because who hasn't heard of Massage Envy and also about their terrible customer service? For a place that focuses so much on image and making their brand known, I was surprised to see the waiting room full of worn out leather furniture. As many massage therapists as they have and as many locations, they could afford to put more into the aesthetics of this place. The massage room itself was drab also. The person providing my massage was polite and professional. Not a terrible experience, although I was told that the $50 I paid for a 50 minute massage is half of the usual price?!? I would not pay $100 for this service. And yes, the "60 minute massage" is only 50 minutes of massage time. They expect me to pay to get undressed, although they want me to fill out "new patient paperwork" consisting of free information that they can use to increase their clientelland I am asked to come early to provide that for them. Given the way they operate I should have been paid for that information. Ultimately I would like to find a massage therapist in private practice to support, someone who isn't known for trying to badger you into buying a package. I welcome any recommendations! read more

Great location to visit. Staff is friendly and very knowledgeable. Prices can be high especially if you do not have a membership. I wanted to receive a massage on a regular basis so opted in for the membership. Staff is great at giving massages. Would have liked for an hour massage to actually be an hour but time gets taken off for changing before and after the massage. I have been to other places where you get an actual hour massage rather than only 45 minutes. Office is calm, relaxing, and the waiting area is relaxing and quiet. Water is offered in waiting area and facilities have many rooms for therapy. Restrooms are clean and everyone is professional. Will continue to visit this location until my membership finishes. Will research other places to see if pricing is worth renewing. read more

My wife bought me a $150 gift card for here, thinking she'd done me a favor since it's the closest place to our house. First the good, the place was clean and the massage therapists were both polite and good. Now the bad, when you book a 1 hour (60 minute) massage, what they really mean is 50 minutes. They refer to this as "hands on" time. Not really sure why they would sell a 50 minute massage as "60 minutes" unless they were intending to deceive you. At first I was not too upset, my first massage (50 minutes) was only $49. I booked an appointment for 9am. I thought, "eh, what the heck, for $49, I wont complain". When I arrived 20 minutes early for my appointment I was asked if I'd like a fragrance in for the lotion, I said "sure". I was then sent to the waiting area where i waited till 9:10am to be invited back for my massage. My massage was good. When I checked out I was informed that the fragrance I had selected was $10 extra. I was then pitched for 5 minutes on why I should sign up for their membership ($59 per month). Scheduled my next massage, pitched on joining the same crappy membership, opted out and was told my 1 hour massage (50 minutes) was $99. I don't see how anyone seriously uses this place. I'm not sure if I'm more perturbed at being constantly pitched to buy a membership. Or the deceptive practice of under delivering on the time purchased. fyi... if you are having to push THAT hard to sell the membership, there's probably something wrong with your service. read more

I hope this is the Southpark Meadows location...Anyhow, I have been to Massage Envy twice, and both times had a great experience. The first time Lynn was my therapist, and she was amazing!! She has a knack for working really odd parts of the body. She did this thing to my shins...I still have no idea why it felt so good, but she said they were "calling to her" lol!! All I know is I wanted to buy her chocolate and flowers when our time was up! The second time I was with Macey, (full name Macey Bible...don't hold it against her!) Just so happens that Macey is blind, so I didn't ever wonder if she was scrutinizing the cellulite on my thighs. The massage was great, but I also really loved chatting with Macey. She is hilarious, and I laughed the entire hour which was probably more therapeutic than the massage itself. Friends of mine have seen other therapists here and have had good experiences as well. I would personally recommend either Macey or Lynn, depending on what you're looking for. Update: I was informed by another yelper that Lynn is no longer with Massage Envy. I don't know what the exact problem with this place is, but I just had pretty much the most ridiculous time here. Yesterday, I chose to book an appointment with the southpark meadows location for a much needed deep tissue massage. The guy scheduled me for 9am (I called the number on the website). I go in today only to find out that the number on the website is wrong and is actually the number to a north location. When I called them to let them know what had happened, the girl acted like it was MY fault that they have the wrong information on the site and never apologized or tried to fix the problem. I guess technically this rant should be aimed at the tech ridge location, but the girl at the south park meadows location wasn't too eager to fix the problem either. Nothing is more annoying than waking up at 8am on a saturday because you think you have a massage booked, only to have to face the reality that you have to deal with a bunch of idiots on your day off. I'm not even going to reschedule with this place because I'm so pissed off. I've heard the massages are mediocre anyway. What a bunch of crap. Bless my cousin's heart for setting up a message for us both. Her heart definitely was in the right place and I know I needed it. Massage Envy tries, they really do but I am a massage snob and have a very very good masseur at home that actually knows my body better than I do (and I don't mean that in a questionable way either! LOL). I was scheduled to have a male masseur which I may have had a better experience but alas a last minute switcheroo placed me with one of their masseuses of the female persuasion. I decided to give her the benefit of the doubt as I'd been disappointed in the past but perhaps this would be different. We met and she got to know me and my limits. She seemed very in tune with and interested in knowing what to work on and with. After the Q&A session she left the room asking me to undress to my comfort level while she was gone. I did just that and slipped under their very clean and comfortable linens. It wasn't long before she came back and begin to work on me. Some light effleurage started the session then medium pressure motions which felt like she was buffing me much like one would buff a car with wax on it. I was confused. Was I a '57 Chevy about to be entered in a Classic Car Show or was a '37 Steven about to totally get annoyed by this whole experience? As I was finally starting to relax, the session was over. Being the nice guy that I am, I didn't blurt out what a more crass individual would on the lines of "What the heck was that?!" instead I bit my upper lip and acted as if everything was ok. Don't get me wrong, she was as sweet and as accommodating as a Southern Waitress in a down home restaurant itching to serve up a slice of pecan pie and a glass of sweet tea (10 parts sugar, 1 part tea) but I know more could've been done. I'm a member. I've bounced between the Westlake, Circle C, and this Southpark Meadows location. Every masseuse is different. Some I've liked, some I haven't cared for. For this particular location, if you are looking for a deep tissue/trigger point type massage, hands down, see Daniel. It's not exactly the "relaxing" Swedish massage most would think of when defining a general spa massage, but it's one of those hurt so good type massages. My problem areas usually deal with tight neck, shoulders and lower back due to poor posture/sitting all day in from of a computer, putting hours on the bike/trail/in the water, or just plain sleeping in a funny position and waking up with a crick in my neck. First time I saw Daniel, I thought it was kind of funny that he would give little encouragement comments like "good!" and "nice!", when a certain muscle of mine would release/relax, but literally by the time I walked off that table I immediately felt a lot looser and relieved of tension. Each time I go I also get to learn little tidbits about muscle groups and what parts of my muscles are restrictive of others. I almost passed on divulging this information, but I think it would be unfair to the rest of the tensed up world. Definitely a keeper for this location, but not for the light to somewhat moderate pressure takers! read more

First the cons: The receptionists try to sell you everything they can every single time, it's almost to the point where you're going to have to expect them to ask you. I would like it if they didn't try to sell you extras so much. It is completely obvious they overwork all of their therapists. The music in the room is annoying. You have to tip big because you know they don't pay the therapists enough. Now the pros: All the therapists I have seen are very professional. I have no complaints on the quality of massages. A+++++ The membership and/or the prices are worth every cent The place is immaculate, I have never felt like I was in a room that was dirty or that a therapist was unclean. Husband and I have been going to this ocation for TOO LONG. It started out alright, but we found they can't keep any help. Any time you find a masseuse you like they are not available the next time you try to schedule an appt. They won't even provide any forwarding info if you find someone your really like. Seems professional courtesy is gone by corp blah blah. There were several times where we would have an appt scheduled, only to be called at the last minute to ask if they can push it back an hour or if we mind using some other masseuse. There was never any consistency. One masseuse would be great and the next would sit there with their elbows pushing in the same spot for the entire hour. This inconsistency would cause tension on every visit because you just didn't know what you were going to get. Spent over $2200 at this location and had several massages paid for and let them go to waste. They even had some lady that wasn't at all interested in finding out about our experience, call us and offer us to pay them $10 to gift them to somebody else. This was after she told us that even though we cancelled before they debitted the account last month that the would be debitting our account again. read more

The price seemed good at first for a new client. Then they try to sell you a membership during the massage. If you decided against membership the fees are super high. Private therapist that come to your home are cheaper. I'm sure it is possible to get a good massage here, but you may as well go to the massage schools . I tried 3 different massage therapist but they all did the same routine. I guess if you want to try this place out...get a referral for a specific therapist ahead of time... and go soon after you get the referral. People come and go. I imagine they burn through their workers fast - obviously they aren't getting paid enough. read more

The therapists are clearly overworked and it shows in their bland interaction with clients. I tip them well because I know massage envy works them to the bone. I just bought a package from massage envy. My first massage was so-so it was a guy and when I mentioned a target area that was ALL he focused on. In my opinion when you mention a target area it just means that you want some extra attention there but dont want that to be the only area that is massaged. So that one not that great, but my second time was excellent! Sally was amazing and yes, she paid special attention to my target areas but also gave me a full body massage. I felt absolutely relaxed and my posture seemed much better that when I walked in. The first would have made it stand at a three but after my last massage this is definitely a four star kind of massage. The place is also clean and neat, the staff from the front desk to the therapists are all very nice and polite. Overall I am happy that I bought a package here and look forward to my next massage, maybe a facial too! read more

After a 12 day cluster headache, I decided to A) Get a massage or B) Drive my car off the bridge. I'm so glad I went to Massage Envy. The people at the counter were very professional and whispered since I had a headache. The waiting lounge is very relaxing and cave like. Nice comfy leather couches and an underwater tropical scene playing on the TV. Nice. Jason was my therapist and he listened to everything and asked a bunch of questions. I left the massage (1 1/2 hours) in his hands (no pun intended). He was so tuned in to what my muscles were saying to his hands. He found all the spots that I was hurting and more that I didn't even know were sore. I left there feeling so relaxed. By the next morning I was headache free. I went back last night for another hour and a half. He focused more on other tension areas and "ironed out" my quads. Holy baby Jesus! I didn't know I had wrinkles in my quads but I'm glad he ironed them out. I literally have new legs today. Since it was intense, he's going to keep ironing them out over the next few sessions. I can't imagine anyone lasting through an entire "ironing" session. Whew! I didn't tell anyone there, but I started am trained as a massage therapist. And I can tell you, they are very skilled at Massage Envy. If you sign up for a membership you get a flat rate each month and it includes one hour massage...they also roll over if you don't use them. Some sessions are better than others depending on who is massaging but I can honestly say I have never been disappointed with this place. This parlor offers predatory memberships like a gym. I was looking to get my wife a gift and their auto renewing membership was all they could offer. It's all about the therapist you're placed with. I've had two excellent, one male and one female, therapists who have really helped with all my issues. I actually love having the membership because it's much more financially feasible to care for yourself than booking the occasional 'luxe spa' retreat. I've had ongoing back issues since an injury one year ago and I must say this has been a key piece to healing and alleviating pain. Aside from back issues, I've noticed an improvement in the decrease in headaches I was previously experiencing and an overall general improvement in being less stressed and just feeling better in general. The staff have always been amazing upon entry and they don't try to up-sale you on heat or cold therapies or fancy smelling lotions. 4 stars because, hey, it's not a magical oasis but it is still great in its own way! read more

My other half ask me if I want a massage, what i am going to say no?I took her offer and she schedule the massage for me. I told her to requested female masseur for me. The whole experience was pleasant one. My body was very relax to the point that after going home and couple hours, I took a nap. Massage Envy is kind of like the Super Cut's or Great Clips of massage. Everyone there is licensed and is able to give a basic standard massage and on occasion you find someone that is really good. I have been to Massage Envy quite a few times. I don't have a regular person that I see so I have had a variety of different skill levels. I have had very good and some not so good. The massages are very inexpensive so you are really getting what you pay for. I'm not the type of person to spend a lot of money on something like a massage so Massage Envy is A-Ok with me. read more

This was my third visit to Massage Envy (and second at this location) after signing up for a yearly membership. I've been trying to find the right therapist for me and, after my session with Brin, I think I have found her. We had a 30 minute assisted stretching session followed by a 90 minute firm Swedish massage and it was exactly what I needed. Brin was communicative and responsive to my requests and needs. I also learned from her how to best communicate what I wanted so she could do her best work on me. Brin clearly took my input about my recent knee surgery, my recovery, and my workout routines and goals then ran with it. She obviously knows her way around muscles because there were points where she recognized muscles that I had recently worked and needed attention without me telling her. Her attention to those parts did the trick. This session was on a Friday evening and those two hours were as enjoyable as any movie, dinner and drinks, or whatever else I might do to try and relax after a long week. In addition to finding the right therapist for myself, I may have found the perfect time to do it. It takes exceptional service for me to take the trouble to sign on and post a review. Brin deserves it and I appreciate what she did for me. I only hope our scheduling works out in the future. read more

I've been to this location twice and have been very happy with my experience both times. The front desk ladies were extremely nice and welcoming. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the place was very clean. My last massage was with Brooke and it was a deep tissue massage. I was worried that a small girl wouldn't have the strength to perform this massage but she surprised me by getting two major knots out. Am I happy with my experience? So bummed. I have had a membership here for almost a full year. I absolutely ADORE my massage therapist, she's excellent. But the struggle is real with the reception staff. THREE TIMES in the last few months I've gotten a call about a week before my appointment to tell me there has been a "scheduling issue" and my therapist has been double booked and now I've been bumped. I understand that sometimes things happen, but three times within a few months tells me there is a pretty serious problem with their scheduling system. I don't see how the therapist continually gets double booked. When I mentioned to the receptionist that this is the third time it happned, she made no effort to try and rectify the situation or even apologize or offer more of a solution. If you have a delicate schedule I would recommend finding something more reliable. It's a shame though, because Natasha is wonderful! ***Update*** Even after having someone from management comment on this review, I received yet another call from this location for the appointment I've already cancelled to inform me that they've double booked and need to move my appointment! We've been members here for probably a year now. Overall it's just ok. The people are always friendly. Some massages are way better than others, but I've never had a BAD massage here. The people are always friendly and try to be accommodating. However, they seem to be extremely unorganized and inconsistent. A couple times we've asked for something specifically (the couple's room/ a specific person/etc.) and when we got there it wasn't available. Three times now (twice THIS week) they've had to cancel our appointments at the last minute, because "someone wasn't feeling well." Monday, my husband's appointment was cancelled at the last minute, because the woman that was supposed to do it went home sick. They rescheduled him for the next evening and gave him a complementary massage and upgrade. Ok, we can live with that. Yesterday, I had a massage and facial scheduled back to back. I got there a few minutes after 5, so that was my fault. I got my massage and was left laying on the table waiting for the woman who was going to do my facial. After a little while the gentleman who did my massage came back to say, "Sorry, she had to go home, because she wasn't feeling well." Whaaaaat? Is this their blanket excuse for everything? Also, why couldn't they tell me that before my appointment started? I wasted some of my massage time filling out the paperwork for my facial and I didn't even get to have it. When I left, they gave me a $12 credit to my account to accommodate for the cancellation that happen well after my appointment started. This was also confusing to me. My husband got a free massage and upgrade and I got a $12 credit? It was the second time in 4 days! That seems uneven. My husband and I have decided to cancel our membership. It's definitely not worth micromanaging our time, getting a babysitter and rearranging our day to be rescheduled at the last minute. Definitely not relaxing. read more

Although everyone was professional and friendly, I was not pleased with the massage. I specifically stated when I booked my appointment that I needed a therapist that would do a deep tissue massage. I even stated that on the paperwork they had me fill out. I meet my therapist only to be told that he does not do deep tissue. The massage I was so looking forward to was a bummer. This is not the location I usually frequent but I am not disappointed. The place was clean and comfortable as I expected from my previous experiences at other locations. My originally scheduled therapist was not there so I had a last minute substitution.....JR. The room was cold but JR was nice enough to inquire about the temperature and turned on the table warmer for me. He gave a great massage....I will definitely go back to JR in the future.
