Easily Vegan Friendly Ate lunch here with a large group of vegan friends, selected because they have vegan options. In fact like most Indian restaurants, they have a vegetarian section. Only with Masala they add a (V) to those items that also happen to be vegan. I ordered Bhindi Masala and my husband ordered Chana Masala both at medium spice level. Both of ours were perfect. Everything was excellent. We were seated immediately and the service was quick, although we did have to wait a bit for the masala to cook - but that was expected and at least to me means fresh. I had the special makhani with chicken, lamb, and shrimp, medium spicy. All perfectly cooked and the portion size was large (leftovers for tomorrow!). My husband had the masala platter, spicy - 3 kinds of chicken, shrimp, and salmon, pretty huge (leftovers for him tomorrow too!). He loved it. If I had to summarize our experience at Masala it would be with one word: FLAVOR! Amazing place. The servers were very attentive to us and our 3 children. Everything was clean and neat. But what was most impressive was the tastebud punch that we got. My lamb korma (India hot) was out of this world. The restaurant has beautiful decor and nice ambiance good for family dinner or date night. The person that seated us and took our order seemed extremely distracted. I ordered the Maharaja jahm which I was extremely excited for given it had my two favorite flavors. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed and only managed to drink few sips. We ordered cauliflower Manchurian, chana masala, malai kofta with some tandoori roti. Really excellent Northern Indian food for Myrtle Beach, especially since they have a small Indian population in the area. All the tall Indian beers that you could desire, I had the Old Monk and Haywards 5000. We started with the garlic naan and the spicy Gobi Manchurian. The Gobi was especially nice since it was extra crunchy. Our server was really busy but he managed to stop by several times to see how we were doing and let me indulge in a few questions. I had a goat dish that I have not see on any other Indian restaurant menu's and is was delicious. As a consumer, I would like to pay for what I order and what I eat. Reading the initial comments, I was really optimistic about this Indian restaurant. We've just moved into the area and this was the first Indian restaurant we tried. The decor and everything was really nice so it looked well maintained. We ordered a beer and a kamasutra drink. I tried the drink it tasted odd. No saffron favor and they used a cheap vodka- spider that was burning my throat. So I asked our server if he could switch it or something and he said sorry, we don't do that. alcohol isn't cheap apparently when I asked another server to speak to the manager. So the 10$ I wasted on the drink that I didn't even drink is fine? It's fine for the customer to pay for something that they didn't even consume but you, as an establishment can't lose money ? That's such bull. I will not be coming back and hope the manager does something about it or else he will lose more customers. It's very sad that they can't correct their mistakes or make the paying customer happy. Such a disappointment. Oh also, the food was mediocre. Lacked flavor and spice. Only bonus point was the naan. I will give them credit where it's due. I called them to make reservations and they said they don't take reservations. They said they are busy and no guarantee that we will get the table. We still got there and after waiting 25 minutes we did get a table. After being seated for 30ish minutes, finally someone came over to take our order for food and food arrived 35 minutes after that. Curry looked it had extra color added to it and it didn't actually look what we had ordered. Our party had 4 adults and 2 kids and we were charged 18% gratuity for that. There was nothing with services that this place would deserve 18% of gratuity. Biryani tasted and looked like Pulao. Over all 2.75/5 stars. read more

Nann bread was fresh from the oven but you had to pay extra for the chutneys. I've never ever seen that. Combo platter that we shared had enough salmon and shrimp alone to justify the price. Grilled bone-in chicken was a bit dry. Served water with very little ice, what's up with that. Masala sauce was tasty but again, no spark.
