My husband and I were camping at Maryhill State Park last week and we visited the Maryhill Art museum and afterward we went over to the Maryhill Winery to purchase a bottle of wine to go with our dinner that evening. This was our first visit to the winery. We ended up buying two extra bottles to take home. One of those bottles had been discounted to $15 since it was a 2022 vintage. We paid the cashier to with our debit card and my husband put the receipt into his wallet, so I didn't see it until two days later when I was doing our banking. That was when I noticed we had been charged $25 for the $15 bottle of the discounted wine. We had even mentioned to the cashier that we were happy to find one of our favorites on their discount shelf. I called the winery on Saturday morning and left a voicemail regarding the overcharge for the bottle of wine. Then I went to Maryhill Winery website and emailed a message to their customer service. Later that day, I received an email from the wine club administrator advising me that she had forwarded my message directly to the winery. She had also set up a shopping account for me and when I added my information to the account, I saw that there was a 10% discount on my first order. I wrote back to her and let her know that all I really wanted the refund, so I included pictures of our receipt and the bottle of wine showing the discount price sticker which we were overcharged for. It's been four days and no word from anyone regarding the overcharge for the wine. I have no use for the shopping account either since I can buy Maryhill wines cheaper in our local grocery stores. We should have gone over to Biggs Junction and purchased our wine there because all the small grocery store's Maryhill wines were priced at least $10 a bottle cheaper than at the winery's. We realize that we should have checked our receipt before leaving the winery, but at least I caught the error and notified them of it. Four days later, Maryhill Winery's customer service has not deemed my request for a refund worthy of a reply. After reading other one-star and two-star reviews on their restaurant food and service, it appears that we aren't the only ones unhappy with their customer service. Needless to say, my husband and I will not ever visit the winery again. read more

It's been several years since we visited Maryhill Winery. Seems the quality of the food served has diminished while the price has gone up considerably. Are they just chasing the money? When asked about the items on the charcuterie board, the server explained: olives, blueberries, fig jam, honey, chorizo. There was no explanation regarding the small amounts of cheeses and meats. Sad and disappointed. We were in the area having a wine tasting day and came across the pictures and reviews for Maryhill Winery. We checked the hours, and it said they were open, so we drove 30 miles to go taste some good wine. Imagine our surprise when we walked up to the door and there is a sign posted saying they are now closed on Monday's. However, every sign in the parking lot, the sign right by the front door, not to mention everything online all say "open daily." I guess not. Time to update things folks. read more

Winery along the Columbia River with views of the river and gorge. We sat on the terrace, in the shade, it was such a hot day. Beautiful presentation of their wine flight: 7 samples of whites and reds for $30. Since we bought 2 bottles of wine, the wine flight was compensated. I had 2 shrimp tacos with it: little and only one tortilla each so it fell apart easily. My husband had bbq ribs and very yummie Mac and cheese with Hatch Chili's. I liked the way you order your stuff at the outside bar, with your table number. I thought the lady seating us could have been a bit nicer about us wanting to be in the shade. She tried putting us in the sun, overlooking a crappy grassfield, while there were plenty of other tables available. Otherwise, nice winery!! read more

I got a bad feeling about this place when I got out of my car and a woman walked by muttering about how she waited an hour for some carryout food. Hmmm. We sat out on the patio (great views!) and tried to figure out how ordering a tasting flight works if you buy a bottle of wine to go. Made no sense so I went to the counter and got more confused. Basically, you order the flight, then if you order a bottle of one of the wines you tasted they deduct the cost of your flight from the bill, but you *have to order the bottle(s) from your server* OK, ordered the flight. Didn't care for most of the wines, so we ended up ordering a bottle of the 2015 cabernet, it was the best of the lot. Ordered some food (see photos), which too inordinately long to be delivered. The smoked salmon was sandwich was OK, and my wife liked her curried chicken croissant. This place was kinduva "meh" for me, but maybe I expected too much. We stopped as it was on our way home to Oregon. Great variety of wines & food. We had 2 tasting flights, Salmon burgers with apple slaw & a chicken flatbread. All were delicious. She assisted all to bring their vision to fruition. As we created in the Club room with an amazing view of the gorge, we drank wine and snacked on lovely and yummy charcuterie boards. The expansive views of their lush vineyards with the Columbia River in the backdrop are stellar! Sitting outside on the patio sipping wine in this serene setting is a fabulous way to spend an afternoon. Maryhill Wines has won many awards because their wine is quite good. I'm a fan of the bigger, bolder reds with rich berry and hints of pepper. Their Cab Franc Proprieters Reserve is my favorite. While at the vineyard, I recommend starting with their $25 tasting menu which gives you an opportunity to try several varieties. If you purchase a bottle ($30+) they waive the fee so it's a no brainer to buy a bottle. Plus, you drove all the way here so you will want to bring some wine home. To accompany the wine, they offer charcuterie boards with a Olympic provisions meats and local cheese, the perfect accompaniment imho. The vineyard tasting area is quite large space andaccommodates a lot of people. The patio is massive with several section. In the warmer weather it's packed, especially on weekends when they have live music. Inside is a bar and several tables. The Premium Club members have access to their own club room and an elevated patio in back with the best views. But really, all views are good! They even have an outdoor amphitheater where they host concerts. I'm definitely going back for that! Check their website and events calendar for all activities. Maryhill has several tasting rooms - Vancouver Waterfront, Spokane and Woodinville - in addition to the vineyard in Goldendale. A splendid time eating bistro food and wine tasting - that I "Elite-ly" "Yelp-in-ly"recommend! Maryhill Winery sits high above the scenic Columbia River near Goldendale WA. Exquisite views for sipping a glass of wine on the open and part terraced patio. For this view I'd partake in the pouring rain! Hey, it was chilly and overcast and we sat outside and loved every moment. The vines love these soil nutrients deposited by the Great Missoula floods. In the last ice age 14,000 years ago the cataclysmic Missoula glacial lake carved out the Columbia River Gorge out to Willamette Valley spreading nutrients rich for growing grapes. How fortunate we are! The Columbia River Gorge in my mind is the 9th "Wonder of the World." For sure a world renown location for growing grapes to make some of the best Pinot Noirs and red wines in the world. We loved the Olympic Provisions cured meats and artisan cheese on a huge charcuterie board with fig apricot conserve, roasted garlic, pickled red onion & peppers, pickles, spicy mustard and flat crackers. We ate - as we tasted a flight of red wines from the estate and from other viticultural AVA regions. The $25 tasting fee is waived when you buy a bottle of wine of at least $30. Good deal. We purchased a Malbec Reserve $44 with taste notes of Blackberry, black licorice, and dried juniper berry and a palate with secondary flavors of truffles, pipe tobacco, and a touch of white pepper. Great wine and scrumptious food. I highly recommend this unforgettable experience. Eat at the bistro! Taste the wines! Delight in the stellar views! Excellent service! The tasting room is 3,000 square feet with gift shop. And, there is a 1,200 square-foot Reserve Room showcasing limited production fruit-of-vine! Maryhill also features a 3 to 4000 seat outdoor amphitheater that hosts summer concerts. Who knew? I did not know that until I visited. Would like to come back for that! I like visiting Maryhill every time I am in town. I like getting the wine taster. It is served all at once rather than the old way where you would stand by the counter and wait to be poured. Granted, you get a little more information on the wines this way but with the pandemic, sitting in my chair with the husband and feeling safe is worth being served all at once. The tables are spread out and everyone is wearing masks. Yay! You can come and enjoy the view while sipping on drinks and having a nice lunch or appetizer. We ordered the charcuterie and it was a bit much for 2. Next time we know to order a smaller one. Why deduct the one star. I do realize there is a pandemic and everyone is a little slow, but ours was above and beyond. People were being having orders taken before we were even greeted even though the hostess sat us. Other than the view, not worth the drive. Four of us visited on a Sunday in late March. My wife and I had recently visited the Maryhill tasting room in Woodinville, WA, and had an excellent experience, setting high expectations for the tasting room at the Goldendale winery. With the exception of the view, we were disappointed. AMBIANCE: 5.0. Gorgeous location overlooking the Columbia River. The day we visited was near-perfect for tasting outdoors on the patio, with no wind and warm temperatures. WINE: 3.0. Compared to the Woodinville tasting room, the portions were tiny. Insufficient to provide a decent "taste". At our Woodinville experience we thought all the wines were fine to very good; here in Goldendale we weren't sure, thus I'll be generous and provide a 3.0 rating. SERVICE: 3.0. Varied wildly depending on the server. The female server wearing glasses (I wished I had gotten her name) was OUTSTANDING, as was a young lady keeping the outside area clean. Several of the other servers were fine. A couple of the servers brought down the rating. They were not very attentive to customers: to get the next wine in a wine flight, one would go inside to the bar and wait in line. Some waits were quite long; during one such wait one of us in line finally walked down to these two servers who were engaged in a conversation behind the bar (my buddy surmised sarcastically that they were probably exchanging tips on customer service), and gently let them know of all the people waiting in line and asked if they could provide some help. They then quickly leapt into action. (Just an odd observation: when one of these two servers made an error in pouring an extra drink for our order, he took the extra drink and handed it to his conversation buddy, who downed it.) read more

Love their Sangiovese. Had early dinner there a couple weeks ago with wine flights. Note they are only open until 6pm and stop taking food orders at 5:15. Stunning views. When busy, service may lag, but servers and friendly and the food we had was wonderful. Entrees were Pasta with Alfredo and Smoked salmon cakes. Definitely have to stress the smoked and that's a good thing. Sometimes smoked meats or fish can be overwhelming but this was heavenly. Fun early bird dinner. Took a "to go" dessert that was bread budding and ice cream. Hubby likes bread pudding and I had a taste of the fabulous Snoqualmie ice cream. Can't wait to return. read more

My husband and I stopped here while out on a date day exploring this area. The views are amazing, we had the charcuterie board and bread which were delicious. My husband loved his wine and bought a bottle. I'm not a wine drinker, and I wish that there were better options for those who don't drink wine. I also didn't totally understand their system of ordering inside. It felt kind of clumsy, and not relaxing to have to be seated, choose your food, send someone inside to order said stuff, and then it's brought out to you. I don't think taking orders at your table would require much more work on their part, and would definitely escalate the experience for customers. Just my opinion! We travel 2 hours from Portland to come here. And it was such a big disappointment. First off they ask you to put down a card right when you sit down. But didn't ask for our IDs when ordering a wine flight. We did feel racially profiled... We ordered the food it was decent but no customer service what so ever. We literally had to walk up to the bar to get our check because no one checked up on us after giving us our food. We didn't even get more drinks or food because no one ever came back.... We got no educating or knowledge about the winery or even the wine we were drinking. A lady told us to read the menu to get the knowledge. Wasn't interactive at all. We did ask if there was a tour we can do, she said they did not have availability. We asked if we can go down and look at the vinery she also declined that as well. Also the water they served was warm, no one filled up our drinks while we were there. And the stage outside looks broken down and old. But the view was nice. I'll definitely try another winery just not here. Sadly this was my first wine experience. read more

Unimpressed. Let's start at the entry. Water the landscaping. Yuccas et al looked like August not late May. Grounds have potential but the poorly maintained amphitheater (ripped awning and unfinished stage), together with no fanfare or welcoming notice as to concerts or posters hailing events, left the experience flat. Moving on, the grapevine trellis overhead on the patio is nice but things go downhill from there. Patio tiles are popped up. No one is selling wine. No customer experience. it seems you are more interested in selling lunch than wines. $30 and $40 wines from a mid to low grade winery need educated staff who take the time to explain as you explore. Nothing here. You get a flight of small glasses (as if it were beer), and the rest is self guided. Views are good but not great. Patio furniture and railing (NOT kept free of bird crap), are cheap, signaling the experience will be lackluster too. Same for furniture inside. Wait person was fine for a 5 Guys, but again you think of yourself as a destination yet there is nothing exciting or luxurious about the experience. Have people guide the experience!! Our server circled aimlessly every 60 sec. (like a bad fly), but could not say anything about the wine. I suppose she wanted us to buy a burger or something. Annoying. Wine was what you'd expect to get get for $7 a bottle from a production winery. Mediocre with some ok to an occasional good item. Parking lot had a leaning light pole (hit by a drunk?) with a light broken/ missing. Not new. More signals of poor maintenance. This not a destination winery. On the way out "what no wine purchases today??" Nope. One flight and done. Quite dissatisfied with the experience after having driven 42 miles over from The Dalles for the experience. Not terrible. Just OK You deserve all the wine sales you loose. read more

We love this winery and their wine. We live in So. California so we can't visit as often as we would like. Our lunch was outstanding and so was the service. Our server was new but she was very good. We started off with a bottle of very good Riesling. My wife had what she described as the best Caesar salad she's ever eaten. I had a very good shrimp and crab po boy. It had a little heat which really made the sandwich. Of course we purchased a few bottles of wine which have only lasted a few days. My husband and I went here for dinner on an impromptu road trip the day after Thanksgiving. The service was great and the staff were incredibly nice. I ordered the pork loin special which was served a red chili Demi-glace sauce, polenta and spinach. My husband got the chicken sandwich. We both loved our food. For wine, I got the Malbec, which went well with the food. I am not a wine expert, but it's not the best Malbec I've had so next time I'll probably try something else. They were out of coke products so my husband ended up getting a San Pellegrino soda. Most people appeared to be there for the tasting. It costs $20 a person but the fee is waived if you buy at least $30 worth of wine per person. read more

We regularly go camping at Maryhill State Park just ~10 minutes down the road. First time we came here was a terrific experience and encouraged 2 people in our party to become wine club members. Second time here (a year later) was still beautiful but not as terrific. So average of the two visits means this place gets a 3.5 stars from me (rounding to 4). Venue is amazing and breathtakingly beautiful. I also love the amount of shaded seating they have because you want to be in the sun but you also don't want to melt. It will get busy, so get in early to grab a seat (opens at 10am every day I believe). First time we came was all about the tastings. The server was great and engaging and we had a lot of fun reserve wines. Second time here, we knew what we wanted (they opened up a tasting room in spokane last winter so have tasted many more of their wines). Went with a bottle of the Reserve 2015 Chardonnay and it was so good! Honestly I've enjoyed this chardonnay more than any other in memorable history. The man in the reserve room wasn't as helpful and engaging. Yes we were going to order a bottle, and they only sell those up front, but we like asking the experts what they recommend or which to start with if we're thinking about coming back for a second. There were a few people there (2 other groups) but I would have preferred more interaction from the sommelier on site. Thank goodness for $1 waters because it gets hot! I would have liked a water fountain because I felt really terrible for buying more plastic bottles when I already had them from the last water round. read more

Wow! I loved my experience here. My boyfriend and I drove down from Seattle and had an amazing afternoon enjoying a delicious tasting flight. My husband and I each enjoyed a nice flight of wines and then purchased the required bottles to get the price advertised, without complaint. But on our way out, a staff member asked us, "Did we check out?" It was completely offensive and seemed to be connected to the fact that we are a blended Latino American family.
