    April 2024 tasting menu
    Amy D.

Colter, the owner/winemaker, was our server and a wealth of knowledge about the wine making process. He's honest about his wines and happy to give you a taste of anything you're interested in. He's a local whose family has lived in the Dufur Valley area for over 150 years. The wines were great and we took home 5 bottles. Definitely a worthy stop if you're in the area!

Awesome local artworks are featured throughout the space. If you fall in love with one you're in luck; they're all for sale!

This winery is amazing. The wines are some of the best I've had. The Merlot is my favorite.

Intimate tasting room with a fun server! It's small, but friendly and local. I truly loved their Syrah.

So's we gave it a whirl because of it's rating. Those ratings may have been done by the operators of dis joint. They aren't right. We ordered and da palooka that takes the orders didn't have any decaf. He didn't have any root beer. Seems easier to say what he didn't have than what he did. I got a soda that was caffeine free and just hadda couple swings, I avoids sugar. I know, I know shoulda had water as usual. A BLT is usually safe. But I doesn't eat salt as a rule and never caffiene. Sometimes as a "treat" if yas get my drift. I look at the ingredient list and it seemed pretty safe and I felt like being treated. So's the fake Italian sandwich shows up and the "home made mayo" is not mayo, it's some spicy crapola I can't eat that's supposed to be a ringer for mayo. If yas hasn't figured it out yet Hammer is a picky eater and drinker. I don't eat anything spicy. I don't like it. Want to be certain yas totally destroy a sandwich. Spread something on it that's horrid. That oughta do it. We never saw the sap that took our order after he brought the fake Italian food. In a "real" restaurant the server comes an' checks ta see if yas needs anything or how that grub is. My skirt ate what they brought her and said it was marginal but nutt'in to write home about. She was hungry. I wiped off the bacon much as I could and ate around da rest staying away from the terrible fake mayo much as possible. Didn't amount to much that was edible. I wanted to get "on the road again" or I would have helped out more with the improvement of this con joint. As a rule I won't pay 44 bucks for food I won't eat. I promise I don't tip when I already feel like I was misinformed about the food and robbed already. We just scrammed outta there. When will be be back? Easy peasy NEVER!

The seating room is cozy, and I loved the antique typewriters and little wine games on the tables. I was hoping there might be a view of the river given the building location, but apparently the balconies/roof are owned by a hotel in the same building. That said, this was a very cute and cozy spot to sit and taste. The woman pouring was very friendly and she knew a lot about the wines. The pours were pretty light but it's hard to complain when you're paying $15. None of the wines stood out to me, but I liked the Cab Franc best. Both red wines were served colder than I expected, which I didn't mind but I know some people really do. This honestly would have gotten five stars, but there were fruit flies everywhere! They were swarming us the whole time, and several got into our wine :( I think this is largely unavoidable because the entire front wall is open to air, but it did mean we were having to swat flies the whole time we were there.

There is also bar seating, an adjacent coffee bar, and a large deck outside. The Domaine Pouillon Wine Bistro has it all! I've been to their estate vineyard many times, so knew I loved their French wines. When I heard they opened a tasting room in downtown Lyle, meaning on the three block area along the river, I had to check it out. I've been back two more times, each time bringing different friends to turn them into this gem. They have a small but satisfying menu. One time we all got the Cuban sandwiches which were absolutely delicious! Each enough to share. They also have charcuterie and a hummus plate. Service is friendly and welcoming. The bistro is spacious, light filled, with plenty of room between seating arrangements. The bathroom is clean. They have their own private parking lot out front. And for those who want to enjoy a stroll, there is a paved path right behind the bistro. Love everything about this place! Especially the wine.
