Here is a pic of our view from the table!
Kirstie N.

I'm visiting friends in Portland and we decided to venture into Hood River for a day trip. Stoltz isn't on the main drag, just up a little hill. We noticed a sign on the Main Street and decided to check it out. The ambiance was just what we needed and Tina, the server/host/performing artist was awesome. The house was built *I think* in 1886 and though seemingly wildly speculative, Tina brought us into the world of the house with her stories for every tasting! She had great pairing suggestions and wonderful stage presence and energy. The tastings are teeny, but only $9 for I think 6 tastes, you can't beat that! I had a great time. We tried probably the driest red I've ever had, the Sagrantino! My mouth is still dry. We also tried honey mead, which was delicious and fragrant. My favorite was the Harriette, a lighter sort of juicy red. I recommend sitting outside if a table's available. A wonderful hidden gem!

Wine was just OK. Kinda funky tasting. Not my thing. Chardonnay was the only drinkable one. Much better pinots in my opinion.

In addition, I highly recommend the Harriette and the story Erin will have to tell behind this particular wine.

I had an exceptional experience tasting here with my mother and partner. I will definitely be back…read more The winery itself has an absolutely amazing location. There was plenty of parking, though the road up is very steep, so make sure your E-brake is working! There are two outdoor seating areas, one just outside the main entrance, and one overlooking the river. The area overlooking the river is not open to people just tasting, but it looked like the perfect place to sit and enjoy a glass of wine. The interior tasting room (where we sat) is luxurious while still being comfortable. The ambiance of the entire place is lovely, and there is beautiful art and charming knick-knacks everywhere. I was pleased to see all of the pride flags-- it's cool to know you're drinking in a safe place. The woman pouring also let us know that the winery has a literary/witchy theme, which I thought was fun and an excellent conversation-starter. The wine was good. I like German varietals, and this place clearly knows how to do them well! The Gruner was my favorite, and we ended up getting an extra taste of the early harvest to compare to the mid-season, which was lovely. We also got an extra pour of some bubbles because someone else had ordered a glass. The woman pouring was incredibly friendly, very knowledgeable, and even had the winemaker herself come and chat with us for a moment. Tastings were $25 for a decent pour of 5 wines (though we ended up tasting 7) and they come with a little cheese/olive plate to boot! I was very impressed by the experience offered here. It seems this winery also does a number of events, which I am looking forward to attending. This was an amazing find, and I highly recommend you drive the extra 15 minutes out of Hood River/White Salmon if you are visiting to taste.

Loop De Loop is fantastic!!!…read more I stumbled upon Loop De Loop's Four Wind wine while having dinner at Anna's Table (Thank You John Z) in Cannon Beach, OR. Fast forward, we planned a stop at Loop De Loop after hiking Multnomah and Wahkeena Falls. It was one of the best surprises of the whole trip to Oregon. I expected Loop De Loop to be a small, modest vineyard and instead I discovered an absolutely stunning vineyard nestled in the picturesque hills of the Columbia Valley. I opted for the full tasting and I'm so glad I did. I really enjoyed the breadth and diversity of the wine offerings. And the wine is made organically!!! We actually enjoyed the wine and experience at Loop De Loop more than any vineyard we visited in Williamette Valley. We also tried the cheese plate and tinned fish, which were delicious. The venue has indoor and outdoor seating. I love the decor and art throughout the building. Service was really good. I dont recall the name of the young woman with red hair helping us out, but she was fantastic. This place gets pretty busy so I recommend reservations. Definitely check it out! Even if you're in Portland, it's worth the quick trek into Washington.

We visited in Aug 2025…read more For several years I have wanted to visit the Savage Grace vineyard/ winery along the Columbia River, and finally succeeded; we three visited in July 2025. The wines were the star of our experience. WINE: 5.0. The certified wine expert among us could take only 2 bottles back with her to Japan from the 11 WA and OR wineries we visited during our road trip: one of her choices was a Savage Grace Cabernet Franc. SERVICE: 4.5. Michael Savage was the sole server, and thus we were able to talk directly with the winemaker. We appreciated his unpolished explanations about the style of wines he strives for, and about his vineyards and winery. He also pointed us to a great viewpoint a few minutes away. AMBIANCE: 4.5. We sat outside next to some production equipment; somewhat rustic, and with a nice view of the Columbia Gorge.

Let me start by saying the quality of wine and the view are the only reason I gave it a 2 star review. When we arrived we were fully aware of their 2 bottle purchase policy if you do a tasting. Which you should be aware of if visiting. There was a group of 5 of us, 2 who were prepared to purchase at least 4 bottles and do the tasting, 1 who doesn't drink and wanted to see the views, and 2 designated drivers for 2 cars. First the lady asked if we had reservations which we did not. The place was nearly empty with just one other couple. She then proceeded to say before we start you let's make sure our winery is a good fit for you and then began to interrogate us about those not drinking. She tried to push smaller pours with what they call a designated driver plan for the designated drivers which we declined. Still not seated through an interrogation of our intentions, she pushed the DD plan on our 3rd person who said she felt we weren't going to get seated if she didn't accept. The tasting was super slow and took almost 2 hours. We've visited numerous wineries but this is a first where they tried to push alcohol on the designated driver. The condescending way we were greeted and treated is not worth the ok tasting wine and spectacular views. We will not be back with our next winery excursion in the Hood River area.

Bad start but we decided to go for it (I planned this stop because they had good looking food and cocktails for the non wine drinkers). There were maybe 4 tables occupied, so I was surprised it would take "a long while". One person from my party went directly to the restroom so didn't hear what was said, when he came out he went to the bar and asked if he could order a flight which he received a strict "no it's going to be a long while" Lol I understand being overwhelmed or whatever, we're human, but to have the attitude was unnecessary. We left after a few minutes and spent $400 at another winery down the road. Which by the way was much busier but because they were kind we stuck it out, our server made a good chunk on tips too. Fun partying with friends. Very cool that vineyard owners Tess Barr sang (voice like Dixie Chicks Natalie Maines) and husband played a mean maniacal harmonica. They rocked! There…read moreare several seating areas: a large patio surrounding a garden of native plants with chairs and couches around the perimeter; Adirondack chairs near the vineyard overlooking the grasses and hills; indoors next to a fireplace with sweeping views of the property; and even private tents up on the hill. We were thrilled to be there on one of the first sunny days in a very rainy 2022 Spring, so we sat on the sunny patio with the bright blue skies and native plants as the backdrop. We were greeted with a glass of Cab Franc Rose, which I had never had before, and we both really enjoyed it. We selected the flight since it was our first time having COR wine and we wanted a variety. The flight arrives in a tin bucket with individual carafes of each pour. There were four plus a complimentary pour, so three whites and two reds. Of the whites, the Cab Fran Rose remained my fave and I also enjoyed the Pinot Gris which was crisp and light. I'm a fan of big, bold reds but because of the sun, the red wines got so hot that we couldn't drink them which was really unfortunate. They did include a small bag of ice in the bucket to keep the wines cool but it was no match for the sun. Next time, even if I am tempted by the sun, I will select a seating area in the shade so we can enjoy all of the wines in the tasting. To round out our experience, we ordered the charcuterie for $35. COR continues to be very careful with Covid protocols so the charcuterie is a kit that you put together. Olympic Provisions salami, a box of hearty crackers, Marcona almonds and casteveltrano olives in mason jars, and a soft cheese were provided; all delicious. Service was warm and friendly, they answered our questions thoroughly. Some customers like to have the staff pour each taste and explain the wine; at COR you pour your own and info on the wines is provided on a card. I prefer it this way so I can drink at my speed and our conversation isn't continuously interrupted with a description of the next wine. Everyone has their own preference but this style works for me. Will definitely be back!
