A surprising gem of a tasting room , don't pass this place up! Some of the best wines that I tasted of the five wineries I visited today.

If you happen to have time to venture out to the Dalles area of the gorge, or if you are looking…read morefor some fun after a hike, COR has your day covered. I had some family in town and had heard great things about COR, so I made a late afternoon reservation to follow a fantastic hike at Hamilton Mountain. Boy, were we happy we did this! Michelle greeted us in the stunning and warm courtyard on a perfect spring day with some of their sparkling white. This crisp (and not too sweet) treat was a great way to welcome us - and made the walk up to the tent we had reserved - quite enjoyable. Once at our tent, we loved how warm and welcoming the space was, and you can tell much care and attention to design has been taken to heart (cor) here. My family are not huge fans of wine, but we loved every single glass included in the tasting. It was a pleasure to be able to walk around a little under the cozy afternoon sun with sweeping views of the high desert. I cannot wait to return for another experience. Thank you!

Located in the high desert area of The Gorge, COR Cellars is a beautiful and serene setting. We were thrilled to be there on one of the first sunny days in a very rainy 2022 Spring, so we sat on the sunny patio with the bright blue skies and native plants as the backdrop. We were greeted with a glass of Cab Franc Rose, which I had never had before, and we both really enjoyed it. We selected the flight since it was our first time having COR wine and we wanted a variety. The flight arrives in a tin bucket with individual carafes of each pour. There were four plus a complimentary pour, so three whites and two reds. Of the whites, the Cab Fran Rose remained my fave and I also enjoyed the Pinot Gris which was crisp and light. I'm a fan of big, bold reds but because of the sun, the red wines got so hot that we couldn't drink them which was really unfortunate. They did include a small bag of ice in the bucket to keep the wines cool but it was no match for the sun. Next time, even if I am tempted by the sun, I will select a seating area in the shade so we can enjoy all of the wines in the tasting. To round out our experience, we ordered the charcuterie for $35. COR continues to be very careful with Covid protocols so the charcuterie is a kit that you put together. Olympic Provisions salami, a box of hearty crackers, Marcona almonds and casteveltrano olives in mason jars, and a soft cheese were provided; all delicious. Service was warm and friendly, they answered our questions thoroughly. Some customers like to have the staff pour each taste and explain the wine; at COR you pour your own and info on the wines is provided on a card. I prefer it this way so I can drink at my speed and our conversation isn't continuously interrupted with a description of the next wine. Everyone has their own preference but this style works for me. Will definitely be back!

Short answer is, five stars…read more Longer answer, we were rolling in hot at prime time on a prime weekend day with zero reservations, but the charming owner type lady who answered the phone really worked hard to accommodate us coming in, even with 15 mins notice. She was the radiant hostess up front, and found us great lawn seats, and we got some wine and food ordered with our feet in the soft grass and the sun on our face. The female staff had a bit of a Hollister ad vibe, lots of shiny happy people as REM would say. Our waitress was some badass wind surfing world traveling adventure ninja who apparently was the 2025 Grand Champion for Most Aesthetic Nose by a hospitality professional across Oregon. (Prove me otherwise?). We ordered the Tomato blue cheese and I went from "dang why did we order a tomato dish?!?!?" to "OMG this is amazing, the tomatoes taste more like fruit than a veggie". The chef is apparently some super chef with street cred, I think he gave up some big kitchen opportunities to work with the Holister models, I guess. I did love that he dropped off our food, it was like having a VIP food runner. We also had the pasta and mushrooms, was super good. The secret hack to this place is to grab your wine to go at the end of your stay and take the hike up the hill. At the top they have a secret... uh... "back rub" view bench, with a crazy good view. There are a couple of other benches as well, and some extra seating.

3.5 overall. Other than the ambiance, the experience was less satisfying than our Mar visit…read more WINE: 3.0. The two wines we especially enjoyed (and purchased bottles of) from our Mar visit were not part of the tasting flight: "Dawn's Chorus" (sold-out and replaced on the flight by a white unavailable in bottles) and Grenache (I believe also sold out). SERVICE: 3.5. Somewhat attentive. AMBIANCE: 4.0. Described in below review of our 2026Mar visit.

If you love wine tasting ... want to try a naturally fermented wine ... perhaps you're an…read moreeco-friendly person ... care about the planet ... a tree hugger or salmon lover ... support those who care for the soil and its ecosystems ... then support this place. It's a uniquely awesome wine ...and aged vinegar ... tasting experience! Klickitat Canyon Winery ( a gem to visit) is a small, family-run winery creating natural wines all hand-crafted. Their motto is "we let the grapes make the wine" using natural yeasts in the grapes and don't add sulfites or other chemicals. Best wine you can drink! Enjoy the natural tastes swish over the bulbous linings on your tongue and pallet - soothing the throat into your body's temple. The wine develops at its own fermentation pace until proper dryness and taste, then bottled. This process produces complex unfiltered wines that will please and surprise your pallet - we can attest to that! Most all the wines are organic. The estate grapes are "eco-dynamic" meaning keeping the land in tact as is, keeping other ecosystems out, and paying attention to maintain a healthy soil. Native wild flowers, lots of lupine and balsam root, grow throughout the vineyard. Wild flowers attract pollinators. In fact, the vineyard is "Bee certified" by Oregon State University (I think). Western meadowlark (we saw them) eats the bugs off the vines - that helps eradicate pests and the need to use pesticides. How cool is that? They also produce a bunch of 8-year aged organic wine vinegars that tasted wonderful. We picked some to go with a few bottles of wine too! Tasting room inside and outside makes you feel you are out on the farm - definitely out of the city into the Klickitat hills, oak woodlands and wildflowers. A pleasurable natural wonder setting to enjoy the naturally fermented wines. Overall a 5-star YELP experience! The wines we tasted - we could tell the difference of natural yeast on inside our gums and tongue - unique - loved it: Organic Meadowlark Gold 2020. Grapes grown on eco-dynamic property. Subtle fruit flavors of pear, apricot and hazelnut. Dry and light. Organic Chardonnay 2020. Fruity berry forward, pineapple and lime flavors. Light and refreshing. Organic Estate Monarch Rose 2019. Delicate with syrupy fruit of pomegranate in a nicely balanced acidity, fragrance of rose petals. Smells and taste like a liquor to me. Organic Marechal Foch 2018 - Northwest Wine Summit medal winner. Dark cherry, deep, velvety and rich with white pepper and tobacco notes. Organic Tempranillo 2014. Rich and fruit forward, nice acidic finish with a hint of vanilla. Organic Ruby Red. Blend of Syrah, Pinot noir, Marechal Foch. Balance with grapefruit, deep very, earth, tannins and leather. Organic Pinot Noir 2018. Bold with notes in Marionberry without much acidity and a fine barrel aged quality. Organic Estate Syrah 2017. Deep and smooth, fruit forward with dark berry notes like dried cherries and plums.

Smelled and tasted like very strong vinegar. We thought oh well, let's just open another bottle but that one was spoiled too! It turns out that all three bottles were spoiled and undrinkable. We dumped out the bottles to recycle the glass and contacted the company the following morning. The company made it sound like we were trying to get free wine from them which is so insulting. I told them they should open a bottle themselves to check it so that one, they know I am not lying about this, and two so they stop selling spoiled wine to people! After reading online reviews, they have done this to other people in the past. So incredibly disappointing to be treated like this from a business.
