Stopped in for dinner at Rivertap on a quiet Sunday night. The bar wasn't crowded, which made for a nice, relaxed atmosphere. I ordered the sliders, which weren't my favorite, but the sweet potato fries more than made up for it -- perfectly salty and crisp. I wish I'd had time to sample some of their Wood Family Spirits, which looked tempting on the menu. Pretty good first visit. They were pretty much empty for NY day lunch. Bit of wear and tear on our booth...and my bench moved around a lot with the shifting of the guys behind me...but the place seemed clean. Decent menu options and adequate service. Had the fish tacos. I would not order this item again if it were to come back. The fish was skimpy and was over fried making the fish crunchy. The ratio of fish to cabbage was way off. The tacos looked huge when the plate was delivered, but it was just the cabbage mix. The tortilla chips that came on the side were not very good. I did eat a few of the fries from my husband's plate and they were pretty decent. The servers were not rude but they were rushing through everything like they were closing in two minutes. Despite the reminder of an anaphylactic dairy allergy, my salad still came out with a breadstick, smothered and butter, contaminating the whole salad. What a waste of food cost. For the owner, one of your bartenders (young gal) cussed openly and repeatedly, prioritized a call from her boyfriend over patrons, and bragged about charging a guest full price for a vodka and grapefruit without the vodka. She said he was too drunk to be in a bar and chastised him. Seemed like he'd been there a while. You've invested plenty into the building and advertising. After hiking through carpeted hills of wildflowers in the Dalles Mt Ranch, we were thirsty for an IPA and good burger. Rivertap hit the spot! Good pub and grub! First - Flag ship IPA, NW style, good bitter Bravo, Chinook and Citra hops! Great brew! Second - Service excellent! Responsive! On the ball! Friendly - lovin servin with a smile! Third - 1/3lb ground American Wagyu burger served on a locally made pan de sol bun with rich aged white cheddar, pepper smoked bacon, red onion, dill pickle chips, romaine lettuce, tomato and garlic aioli. Just what we wanted! A quality so-delish burger! Fries - yup! And side of Mediterranean soup. Fourth - Sources local ingredient, some organic greens on menu. Type of Pub and Grub I search out on Yelp. Fifth - Great outdoor seating with covers when sun is cooking or rain dancing. Cool vibe inside the bar. Came to The Dalles to meet my mother for dinner and everything was fine, service was friendly, food took a little while but i'm not a complainer. I ordered my hamburger and the couple bites i did have were okay until i found a hair. i got the waitress to let her know, well she came back saying sometimes the cheese strings out and looks like a hair, when it was clearly a hair going through the cheese. was pretty annoyed and unhappy with that response, just call me blind at that point. They remade my burger and i just took it to go as i had a drive back home. Check comes and we gotta pay for the hairy burger, super unhappy and disappointed with that experience. read more

Very inviting atmosphere and great food! We enjoyed a couple of brews (Fresh Cascade Blond for my guy and Quilters Irish Death for me) and shared the beer cheese fries and an order of Kobe sliders w/pasta salad. The fries were decent but got soggy at the end, naturally. I'm not a huge french fry person anyway but my husband really liked them. The Kobe sliders were fantastic! Juicy and flavorful - the bacon jam and red wine reduction along with those pickled onions were the perfect combination. And I loved their pasta salad. Pasta salad at many restaurants is so bland but not at Rivertap. It was delicious. Service was decent but nothing to write home about. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and I expected them to be a lot busier but thankfully we were seated right away. read more

Cluster F***! I ordered through their website which apparently starts a dummy DoorDash account. I got a text saying my food was ready for pickup so I drove to get it and was asked three times who I was picking up for. The food was not ready, no biggie. After waiting about 10 minutes my food was handed to me in a big bag that was stapled shut. I assumed everything was there and left on my way out of town. Of course when I arrived at my next destination I was missing an entire entree. I called to see if I could get a refund and they said I had to get one through DoorDash! This order does not show up on my DoorDash because I didn't order it through my DoorDash app. They refused to give me a refund for the food I waited very patiently to receive, but never did. Bad business! There goes $20 I guess and I guess I can watch everyone else eat tonight since I now don't have food. read more

We have eaten here a couple of times now. The food is good, a bit above average and reasonably quick coming to the table. The staff is pleasant though not overly attentive. This has become a thing since Covid. While always disappointing, I no longer deduct points for less than stellar service if I can tell they are understaffed though I will deduct stars for truly terrible/ inadequate service. The ambience is your typical "brewery style. Relaxing and comfortable. We will return for sure. read more

Went there today with friends and were very disappointed by the food quality. Fish and chips were very oily and overcooked until dark brown. Mostly breading with very thin mushy fish. The chicken bacon Caesar wrap was good but the fries were overdone. When our friend tried to have her fish re done they balked and said they would take half off the price. This is a hard review. We arrived to great live music and a friendly staff member letting us know to sit anywhere. It took a while to get help and when one of ordered a sample of a beer. They actually got a pint (luckily the beer was great), all the beer was great, NICE SELECTION! . When Chyanne took our order, she let us know they just finished a big rush and they are out of a bunch of items (no issue with this at all). We settled on 3 different wrap sandwiches, one with french fries, the other 2 with side salds, 1 hour and 15 minutes later, 15 min after our waitress finally checked on our order and after the resteraunt was closed and when nearly all the guest had left the resteraunt... we got our food. 90% chance our order was forgotten. Zero offer of discount, no explanation and little care. 2 other disappointments, 1) A guest came just after close and the bartender let them know they were closed, we didn't hear the interaction but afterwords he did some trash talk about the customer and they all laughed, within ear shot of other paying customers. 2) we are now VERY far behind so I asked for my bill immediately upon getting our food, she brought it but then never came back to collect the card, I ended up having to take it to the bar. We came here late last night as the kitchen just stopped taking orders but the host took us in and persuaded the kitchen to take one last order. This was super nice of them since pretty much everything else in The Dalles closes so early. The food looked and tasted amazing. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to treat themselves to a nice meal! Also, I didn't know fries could be THIS good! Stopped here for a quick lunch and a place to watch The Euro 2021 match. The servers were accommodating right away with putting on our game. The beer was good and it looks like they do good business. Food is so-so. The fryer was down so certain foods were no-go. I wound up with chicken wrap and it was pretty bland with dry chicken and way too much rice in the wrap. We stopped by here just prior to Thanksgiving. A snowstorm was about to start and there was hardly anyone in the place. A super cute bar and restaurant. We picked a location in the bar as it seemed that is where the majority of folks were seated. I had the organic apple spinach salad. It was very tasty and a nice portion. I noted they had a large selection of mixed cocktails, beer, and wine. As it was early in the day, I stuck with iced tea. I thought it might be nice to come back and try their freshly made cocktails. There is a nice section out front for sitting outside when the weather is warmer. All in all, it was a great little stop on our way through town. After a long weekend camping, 5 little bears exited the scorching hills east of Dufur. We were spent and needed to find water and food quickly! There was a live band outside in the yard and our server Justin cut to the chase and delivered great / quick service without unnecessary chatter (which We really appreciate). In particular the veggie burger was spectacular - I'm not vegetarian but the server said it's one of their best meals and he wasn't kidding. If I'm going to be charged $17 for a chicken caesar wrap I would prefer to see more than four skinny pieces of chicken. All were about the size of my pinky. Understanding that we are a larger party of 16 on a Friday, the service provided for us was unfortunately one of the worst. Arriving prior to a busier hour at 5pm, we did not receive all of our meals until 8pm speaks for itself. Hardly attended and verbally blamed by our server for being a larger group as we watched other tables seated after us get served promptly by noticeably better servers was absurd. As much as we appreciated an apology and a discount for the issues from the shift Manager, the damage was done.
