Understanding that we are a larger party of 16 on a Friday, the service provided for us was unfortunately one of the worst. Arriving prior to a busier hour at 5pm, we did not receive all of our meals until 8pm speaks for itself. Hardly attended and verbally blamed by our server for being a larger group as we watched other tables seated after us get served promptly by noticeably better servers was absurd. As much as we appreciated an apology and a discount for the issues from the shift Manager, the damage was done. Really one of the worst lunches I've eaten... ever. Nothing in this meal made any sense, and the service didn't help. The table wobbled so bad, we had to move off to the side. Now surrounded by speakers, we were assaulted by music that was both bad and far too loud. The iced tea wasn't fresh... it was "Brisk" tea and it tasted old. The "fish" tacos were made with deep fried beer battered cod that tasted sour (probably from the beer). Then smothered in cabbage, jalapeños, and onions. The sauces were a verde, a flavorless pico de gallo, and something resembling ranch. The flavors together (and separately for that matter) had no real balance, cohesion, or craveability. I liked that it came with veggies too, but it was also heavily mayo based instead of a cheesy base--and overly creamy because it was so much mayo so it was a weird texture for your typical spinach/artichoke dip which is usually on thicker richer side (could tell it wasnt typical or normal just looking at it). Was ok. Just came here for a appetizer so cant comment on rest of menu. Round of tequila shots brought for the table, and no salt to go with it which seems standard but had to go without. Not that big of a deal. Bathroom had large garbage can blocking changing table and no papertowels. Margaritas were $13 which seemed a lil high as well (considering I pay that price at other places that are grande sized or have specialty tequila). So 3 star, because I wouldnt not go back, but it wouldnt be my first choice either. Mainly 3star due to price/size/taste/texture of spinach artichoke dip (i think the price is typical, but not the size or style). Side note that doesnt have anything to do with how i feel about establishment or anything to do with this review... I also find it a little weird youd card everyone at table except for one person--a group of young women all of similar age in 20's... thanks for pointing out that one person looks old to you (i think there comes a time where even if you can tell someone is of age, you just check it anyway instead of pointing one person out, idk..its one thing to skip over the grandma, its another to skip over one person in entire group that is same age as everyone else...meh ‍). read more

If I lived in The Dalles, I'm pretty sure this would be my go-to place! The service was so good. Our waitress was helpful, attentive and just super fun! Sometimes when you visit smaller towns from Portland (and have pink hair and tattoos and are in an inter-racial relationship) locals will give you the side eye. NOT this place! They were more than welcoming. It was a lovely evening, so we sat outside. We started with the beer cheese fries... oh my, were they good! Possibly the best beer cheese fries I've ever had. I had the Grilled Salami Provolone Sandwich (with a side salad) for my main dish. The menu mentioned it was on rosemary focaccia bread, which was good, but I will warn you, the rosemary is STRONG with that one. I'm pretty sure my hubby got their burger... all I remember for sure is that he liked it a lot (and he can be pretty picky.) Good food, mediocre service.. My family and I took my Grandmother out to The Rivertap for her 92nd birthday today. As I was standing by our table helping my Grandmother into her chair, a waitress passed and notified me I needed to wear a mask anytime I was away from our table. I replied, "Ok. I don't have one, and I have a medical exemption." Before I could go any further, she promptly stated, "Well if you have a medical exemption, that should keep you at home." (Implying I should be house bound?) Had I not been with my grandmother who was hungry, I would have let her know she could keep her personal opinion to herself and promptly left. I completely support business enforcing the masks. I took offense to her stating her personal opinion in a business setting. In addition, about half of their customers weren't wearing face coverings as they moved about the restaurant. In the hour or so we were at our table just inside the door, I didn't hear staff address one other patron. Our waitresses (Sarah and ?? ) were very attentive and kind. Our food was very good! I highly recommend the Sliders and the Beer Cheese Fries! However, If you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing a mask, I recommend an alternative restaurant. read more

I love this place. 104 outside, every table is full inside and out. I tried something new and ordered the Beer Batter Halibut fish n fries. It wasn't greasy, or oily just prefect tasting fillets. Two nice size pieces of the Halibut. Way to Rock it prep cook and cook (Richard, Dean and Cam). For being so busy the food was coming out of the kitchen quickly for the waitress and guest. In The Dalles on a Saturday evening and looking for dinner, we ended up at Rivertap. The first thing we noticed was how welcoming and friendly the staff is, without being overbearing. A great balance of service! There are two entrances and we weren't sure which one to enter. It seems like one side is more of a bar/lounge area and the other is more of a dining room set up. We opted for the more restaurant-y side. It also looks like they would have a nice patio in summer and a garage door that would open when the weather's nice. Not so in late December! Rivertap has a good selection of beer/ciders on draft (including a few of their own brews), decent wine options and full bar. They also have happy hour every day 3-6pm with a few app specials and cheaper drinks, and live music Friday-Sunday. Their menu is what you would expect at a brewpub, though I would say variety is a little lacking--shareables, a few salads, a couple of "entree" options and lots of wraps/sandwiches/burgers. My partner and I enjoyed two burgers - his, the classic Sirloin and me, the "Hearty Hemp" veggie option. Both were cooked well and arrived quickly, and their fries are on point!! Very disappointed in our visit to this establishment. Don't stop here! Service SUCKS! I felt like the staff didn't even want our business because we were not local. Our server was either too drunk or too high to function. We we're traveling with a party of six and two dogs and we selected this location because they claimed to be dog friendly and had patio seating. the patio was empty when we sat down. There was a sign that read to come to bar to place your order. when I walked inside I was greeted by server that said she would serve us outside. we waited 15 minutes. An other family arrived shortly after us and was already receiving their drinks, we had not ordered. There was a line to order food so I got in line. When I got to the front the waitress who told us to wait outside looked upset because I came in. I told her I was sorry but we wanted to order like the others. She said ok, and asked me for our order. She did not write it down. I went outside and waited another 20 minutes. Lots of food was being served. When I went in to ask about the order the same waitress said oh Im sorry, I forgot to put it in. BS. she never took it or planned to. we were beyond nice. I never said one unkind word to her. This is a welcome spot in The Dalles amidst many pizza joints (which my kiddos won't eat) and places that aren't very kid friendly. They have a small kids menu, and my son loved his mac n cheese- I tried it and it was actually really tasty. I tried the gangstas paradise burger with fries, which was delicious and filling. Also tried the Pb&j wings and calamari which were both good but a tad spicy for my weak self. Service was a bit slow but very friendly. High chairs and kids cups were available, and the menus were coloring pages. They have a decent drink menu as well, and happy hour deals I may try next time! read more

Came here for lunch on a Saturday and waited about 10 minutes for someone to take our order. It looked to me like there were only 2 other tables being waited on but there could have been something going on that I didn't see. Got our drinks right away but our food never came and never got any water. I ordered the spinach dip chicken quesadilla with cheese sauce on the side to share with the person I went with. After another half an hour we started to notice the 3 other tables around us getting their food before us when they had come in after us. One table had walked in after us, ordered, eaten, paid and left and we still didn't have anything. I started looking around for a waitress and one of them noticed me and ran back to the kitchen asking about my food and I heard her say something about the table numbers being mixed up. So I went to talk to them to see how much longer it would be. There was 3 of them running around saying they were looking for a server? Then another girl said just 5 more minutes so I waited and asked to have it put in a to go container since we had already been there almost 50 minutes by that point and I had somewhere to be. The waitress brought my food out and it was the wrong quesadilla and had French fries. The waitress asked the kitchen about it and looked at my order on the computer and came back to me and said "looks like you guys got the shit end today" and said the kitchen is making my food now. I said never mind I have to go anyway and they comped the drinks because of the whole thing. On a trip to the Gorge from Portland, my wife and I found ourselves in need of a break from driving and stopped at the first place we found in the Dalles. Enter Rivertap. We were very quickly greeted and seated by an enthusiastic young woman, who came back almost immediately to get our drink order. We both ordered their Rivertap IPA, and I was definitely wowed. They make great beer here! IPA fans will definitely rejoice with this beer. :) For food, I ordered a chicken hickory bacon Caesar wrap (I know, sounds good, huh?), and my wife ordered the chipotle chicken wrap. Oh. My. This wrap was amazing! You could tell that all of the ingredients were really fresh, and everything popped with flavor. This food was so good, that we ended up coming back the next day after seeing Tool at the Gorge and, well... we ordered the exact same thing. It was just as delicious on the second trip! I tried my wife's wrap as well, and all I can say is that these people know what they're doing. Totally blown away at how good this was. We noticed that all of the servers help each other out with drinks/food/etc when they're passing through each other's sections, which I thought was really efficient. The service was just phenomenal. Despite it being a really sunny day, and super busy, our servers were fast, friendly, and wonderful! Kudos to the great people working here. When we sat outside, we were able to sit in the shade due to them having some shade cloths strung above most of the outside tables, which was very much appreciated. They have a little fountain outside that provided a soothing "babbling brook" soundtrack for our meal. :) This restaurant IS on a busy street for the size of this town, but the cars driving by didn't bother us at all. I really loved Rivertap. In fact, the next time I head out to the Dalles, I fully plan on visiting again. Great service, excellent food, and a soothing and inviting ambience. Chose to stop here on our way through town because the idea of a restaurant with a drive thru seemed fun. It was not. The waitress working the order box and the window was pleasant and good enough at her job. I would recommend they have someone designated to work the second window beside the back of house staff/cooks. After a long wait we greeted by a very rude man telling us to go back to the order box or the window behind us. They had lost our order. I tried to explain we'd already ordered and paid but he just kept trying to tell me to leave. Each time the window was opened it was a different man, they were generally more pleasant than the first man but not by much. We had to tell them our order multiple times and when we finally received our food it was disappointing. I had the Thai chicken wrap and it had good flavor but was about 90% rice. Not hardly enough chicken (or anything else) for $14! Boyfriend got sliders and fries. They were gross. Tasted like they used old oil on the fries. Called in: -Chicken wrap no spinach with provolone side of peanut sauce -Side of brussel sprouts (sometimes I just want them, don't judge) Result: No peanut sauce and EXTRA/LOTS of squeaky spinach leaves. Of course I pulled the leaves out but that's not the point and it was quite messy with the chicken salad mix. The food is pretty solid, but in my opinion, still a bit overpriced. This place really thrives during the warmer months because of the patio space. That's the spot to be!
