One we ordered- the wait was extremely long, a couple was seated across from us. They received their order before ours, my wife's order had rise and the person across had rice in her order. Our waiter was very nice, guess they were low on staff, took over 30min to get our food, she did come by and refill my beer which I had their Rivertap and it was delicious, when our food finally arrived it was all nice and hot but I had the halibut and it just tasted off, maybe the beer batter just didn't go with it, which if I'm right I think they use their Rivertap beer, my 3yr old had the fish and chips which the fish also tasted off, both dishes had a rubbery taste, maybe old fish? Or the beer batter was just nasty tasting idk, would give them another try but definitely not those dishes read more

Friendly service and decent food. We ordered the gangsta burger and the philly. The gangsta was really good but there was more onions than meat and the meat shrunk quite a bit that there was excess bun, still good taste and worth a try. Upgraded for a $1 to the sweet potato fries and they were good. Now about the philly... hard to find the meat, lots of peppers!!! Could almost of been a vegetarian philly. Tasted good though. Walked in on a busy Wednesday. The bartender greats us and says to find a seat where we can. Oh boy. Wha this the wait going to be. 3 minutes later, she's dropping off menus and taking drink orders. A few minutes later another bearded fella shows up and starts taking care of us. Cocktail, cider appetizer, all delivered within minutes and are delicious. From out of town, but you can immediately tell that locals love coming here for a cool drink on a hot summer day. Dog friendly patio with complimentary water buckets for pups to enjoy-they even included ice since it was so hot out! We arrived about 2pm for a late lunch, got a table easily and were served very quickly. They were extremely accommodating, making me a virgin Basil Smash which was delicious and treated our dogs like patrons. It got busy by 3 and instead of waiting for a check I just walked up to the bar to pay and they were happy to ring me up right there. Lots of options, and my mom is vegan so she was happy to be able to eat here. Our first visit here, and we'll definitely come back when we're in town. Parking lot is right next to the place with some shade, and some extra parking is on the street. read more

Stopped for dinner as the sun was out and the patio seating looked so inviting. Greeted with a smile and "sit anywhere". So we took one of several tables outside and chose one that was on the smaller side given there were only two of us. Sat down and immediately the same waitress was at our table talking to us like we were little children and said "don't ever sit down before a table is clean". So we left. Not going to pay for rude service. Stood up immediately and walked out without speaking to the waitress and I said "babe let's go somewhere else". Interestingly as we were walking out our waitress walked to another waitress and we could immediately hear cackling and we had barely crossed the threshold of the sidewalk - this was less than ten seconds after the waitress disciplining us. Also take note that if your party is larger than six they automatically reward themselves with a 20% gratuity. My husband and I stopped here while on a road trip from Portland to the Gorge, two days in a row. Yep, and we got the exact same thing. Both of us. Yeah... So, let's begin with the decor. There's an outdoor patio right outside off the street, so at times it can be a little loud. Inside, the bar was almost what looks like an antique wood bartop, which was cool. The first day we ate outside. The weather was nice & sunny and around 80 degrees. The waitresses were all working together to make sure all the tables were taken care of. It's awesome. Teamwork makes the dream work! (I got a fortune cookie once with that salutation.) Someone helped us almost immediately, bringing waters with them. Thank you! That's so nice to just assume we want water, because we were parched! We ordered the IPA they make there, which was amazing. It was on the lighter side with hardly any bitter aftertaste. It was extremely smooth, and we both loved it. On to the food. I don't know what made my wrap so amazing, but our wraps were SOOOO GOOD! I had the Chipotle chicken wrap, and my husband had the chicken caesar wrap with bacon. Maybe it was the spinach wrap, that had been grilled after it was made, maybe it was the perfect amount of sauce in our wraps, or maybe it was the quality...but I think it was all of the above. We both ordered a side salad, which was fresh. The blue cheese dressing seemed to be made in house too. If I lived in this city, I'd definitely be a regular. The Rivertap Pub is a good pub. Not being a denizen of The Dalles I am not a regular, so my review is based on just a few visits. Right in the heart of dt it has a lot of interesting things to see and do nearby and does not have a stripmall vibe. About the place: There are a lot of great beers to choose from, children can eat with you, there are televisions with sports that are not too loud, they sell beautiful merchandise, it is 8/10 clean, their staff is attentive, and they have that good Aardvark hotsauce. This is not a gourmet restaurant or a 'gastropub', although their salads do have spring mix. The chipotle chicken wrap is a great lunch. read more

Seems like this place could really be a knockout, if only. . . they put chicken into the stir-fry that advertises chicken. If only there were arugula in the salad that advertises arugula. At first I thought that perhaps it was an issue because of the supply chain, coming out of the pandemic and all. But looking at past reviews, not having ingredients listed on the menu is mentioned going back quite some time. I guess they have a captive audience in a small tourist town. We will never give money to this business again. They are rude. We attempted to dine here for lunch with a large group. Both my brother and I are out of town with our kids making us a large group... FIRST the waitress offered to seat our large group at two different tables right inside the door-no problem. Awesome. AFTER everyone and all the kids we're seated EXCEPT myself, she THEN noticed my Mexican husband wasn't wearing a mask. He was already sitting!!!! All 12 were ALREADY SITTING. The mask might I add, was not on by accident because it was in my purse. To be clear, we both had no issue putting it on, we had just forgotten in the chaos of all the kids and how quickly she was able to seat us. When we tried explaining this to the waitress and given the fact WE HAD ALREADY BEEN SITTING FOR A GOOD FIVE MINUTES, she very bizarrely said no, she had to ask us to leave? I was literally puzzled. I thought by the look on her face she was kidding. Her reasoning made no sense. We had just had an entire conversation outside and she had found us a table and NOT once did she say anything UNTIL everyone was seated. Even my father, a resident of The Dalles was perplexed. To me this was silly. And fixable. But because this young waitress wasn't educated on good business, this restaurant lost out on a fat bill. That's ok, because we took our business down the street and happily enjoyed our lunch there. This restaurant , in my opinion, doesn't have great food anyway-they just have a larger space. Rating based on establishment type..It was very good and the perfect evening to enjoy their expansive outdoor seating. The bacon wrapped jalapeño & Yukon gold potato app was delicious - better than I has anticipated. Not greasy nor soggy and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. Food overall was fresh and, true to their sign on the building, appeared local. My wife had the "gangsta" burger and said it was very good. I had the "Uncle D" deep fried cajun chicken burger and it was very good with perfectly cooked and nicely (not over) seasoned chicken. Their house made habanero vodka in my Moscow Mule had just the right kick (pun intended). Considering the dearth of dining options in The Dalles, this is a spot-on pick. read more

It was Friday night the place was pretty busy finding a table was easy. Got the menus or dirty salmon special and a Cobb salad. The cobb salad was delicious as was the blueberry cider. However the salmon was overcooked and it came with sweet potatoes which were undercooked. The flavors were there it just one part of it wasn't at its best. The service was great. The beer was by others. This review is for the food/value. I had the "Artisan Chicken Quesadilla." The description for this $13.00 "artisan" quesadilla says "house-made spinach artichoke dip is the delicious base for this killer quesadilla," however I could detect no spinach-artichoke dip. I thought maybe it might explain the chips, but I guess that's what the pico is for? Hell I don't know, it was enough pico for about three chips. Anyway, the quesadilla consisted of some chopped dry chicken breast, but certainly not much of it, some bits of bacon that was just enough to leave the flavor of bacon, but not enough, and then just mozzarella. Seriously, this is, at most, $1.50 worth of stuff in a tortilla. Maybe the fact that the tortilla is spinach-green makes it "artisan"? I really don't know. All I can say is that it was a waste of money, and not very good. Two stars for excellent service! And that's about it. Okay, I'll be nice.
