I came here selling my partner on a brewpub experience thinking that would entail burgers, wings, pizza, etc. Unfortunately, the only thing she would order was a burger. I had the nachos and was severely disappointed. The meat was cold, the cheese was congealed, and the salsa was mediocre, but the sour cream and guacamole was good. With my experience I did not find it wise to ask how my partner's burger was. I was very disappointed that I had driven hours from where I was staying to visit a few wineries in Hood River and The Dalles, then thinking this would be a good place for dinner, but it really wasn't. Went for the Salmon which I did thoroughly enjoy, but could have been better temperature was a bit cold, the pilaf was veggie infused which I liked, my brussel sprouts I asked for no bacon, very good. Be sure to and ask about specials, website also shares weekly specials. There was a chicken pot pie soup that got 4 stars by one guest and the calamari was a spicy lightly crunchy delight, but portion a tad small. One side, where the bar is, was super lively and music a little loud, but the garage door side was nice, music was lower, high ceiling tons of windows in this place so feels nice and airy on this other side, and notably quieter. Was a Wed. Night so I assume they pack this place out on a weekend etc. They have a bunch of signature cocktails, local brews including ciders. Staff was super pleasant, quick to grab some extra napkins and lemon, for the salmon, but could have checked on us maybe once for water fill up or possibly another drink. This is REALLY the best burger I ever had. I think the bread is the secret, the perfect finishing touch to all the high quality ingredients (real pickles!). This is a large local pub with 2 sections. One is the bar and the other is the restaurant. It feels a little tired, but the food was actually quite delicous. The portions are large and the assortment and combinations of the mostly wrap type dinners were modern and yummy. I recommend this place if you're passing thru! So good! Loved the halibut and chips, unique lemon breading on perfectly cooked fish, with lightly battered fries. Friend couldn't stop raving about the Chicken Avocado Salad sandwich! The staff is really, really nice. I enjoyed sitting at the bar watching them work. Unfortunately, if you choose to sit at the bar you'll find yourself sitting with off duty staff and/or personal friends of the staff, competing to get waited on. We were given menus and our drink orders right away but waited 20 mins to have our order taken. We received our food 50 mins after we walked in. The restaurant was about half full at 3pm on Saturday. When I ordered the fish Cantina Taco I said, "no cheese please. I'm allergic to cheese." Then I ordered the soup of the day, a small bowl of Pork Chili. When the chili was delivered it had cheese on top. I saw the chili on the chalk board but it didn't have ingredients, so how was I to know it had cheese? I would expect to be warned it had cheese since I JUST TOLD HER I'm allergic to cheese. I didn't send it back because I hate doing that so I scooped off the cheese and ate the rest. The taco had lots of good flavor, as well as LOTS of cabbage and tomatoes. Lots! I took most of the cabbage and it was good. We waited for our bill for quite awhile and finally had to ask for it. We were the only people sitting at the bar and both of us with nearly empty glasses. My husband had just a little beer in his glass and he told the bartender he didn't want another, but she didn't bring the bill. We were there nearly 3 hours, most of the time not getting service. The second bartender that came on shift was sweet and talked a little with us but at the time we didn't need anything. Then she just got busy and never checked back. It's the kind of place you have to wave your arms and ask for everything you need: can I get a menu, will you take my order, can I get my bill, etc. So the food tastes good and the staff is nice, but I was disappointed for the reasons above. Maybe I just had the wrong expectation. Usually sitting at the bar gets us better service. I should have read the other reviews before we came here so I would know what to expect. It's unfortunate that the restaurant manager isn't looking at the reviews and answering people and addressing the issues. We would go back over and over for the month we are here but at this rate we won't go back at all. When vacationing we always gravitate towards places with good food and beer selection, this time we had our dog with us. I searched out 'dog friendly restaurants' in the good old Yelp ap and this place was on the list. I was afraid we were 'settling' for something cuz of the pooch; not so! Service was almost immediate, and one of the first things the waitress said was 'let me get a water bowl for your dog'. Nice! When it came time to order drinks, the waitress was super knowledgeable (important to beer snobs), and of the IPA's on tap, she picked the best (in my opinion). Wife ordered halibut and sweet potato fries (aka fish and chips), they were amazingly good with a nice light tempura style coating. Sweet potato fries were just a little too crispy but still had good flavor. I ordere d the fish taco (unless you're a dainty eater, order two), they were very well equipped and had an authentic Mexican flavor. We were visited by 3 different servers, and while it probably doesn't happen all the time it sure did this visit...lunch was so good we're going back for dinner! read more

My experience is limited because I've only been here once and had a PBR & sweet potatoes fries. But I can say the atmosphere seating outside was fun and festive (side note-metal chairs not comfortable) and the service was spot on. I didn't feel like an outsider or unwelcome at all, which can be a thing especially in small town restaurants. The fries were yummy. There was a customer with a dog and that, to me, is always a good sign. I would definitely go back and try something more substantial off the menu. I'm very stingy with my stars and would prefer a 3.5 star rating due to lack of info with the caveat that if another very positive experience like this one on my next visit I'd bump up to 4.0. read more

The food was good and the beers were as well. The chicken fettuccini was very flavorful. The only issue is the poor waitstaff. The server who took our order was not the friendliest. When asked what beers they had on tap she said to get up from the table and go look at the blackboard. Huh! This was odd. After we ordered we never saw her again. Stopped here on a road trip for lunch. The reason for the rave review is solely because of the Smoked Salmon Bisque!! Freaking Stellar! I do not know if this is homemade, common sense would make me think so as the smoked salmon did not seem dehydrated or pre packaged, but I want the recipe!!! I hope for the sake of the locals they keep this soup as a mainstay and I am completely jealous if they do! I will be dreaming of that soup and hopelessly trying to recreate it! read more
