Best Hotel in the Dalles, hands down. Every single thing looked and smelled brand new. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. I spoke to Paula, the night manager. The owner is a perfectionist, and he has hired the best Hotel people in the town and pays them all very well. He has remodelled the entire place and seeks to run this 1950s motel like it was the best Hilton. I was pleasantly surprised, heck I was shocked, but seriously this place deserves its rating. This hotel is just off the beaten path in The Dalles, OR. I found it through online hotel services and it was a good price with decent reviews. I would say the same. I had a decent sized bed that was comfy, a nice sized room, a TV that worked well, and a terrific view of The Dalles Dam. They also had a band that evening with an outdoor bar set up on the patio area. A hearty breakfast was made n the lobby early the next morning and I appreciated that it was set up and ready to go when they said it would. Lots of choices for a freebie. You would think for what they charge for rooms I would get one that didn't have a bunch of wet dog pee stains in the carpet. I had to wear my shoes to walk around the room because I didn't like getting pee on my socks or bare feet. We tried to get our money refunded but they wouldn't do it. We should've just left instead of spending a night in a room that reeked of dog urine. Don't pay for your room without looking at it first. we ended up spending the next night at the Holiday Inn. It was really nice with a great breakfast and clean on top of that It was cheaper than the room at Celilo Inn The spots you see in the picture are wet from dog pee! read more

The room was clean, comfortable and quiet except for the upstairs neighbor who stomped around the floor for hours. You pretty much have to drive to food and we didn't want to get back on the bikes so we ordered Domino's pizza. I couldn't get the wifi to work. We enjoyed the evening on the patio with a guitar player who couldn't remember the words to all of his songs and, I suspect, was too vain to wear his cheaters to read them off his cell phone. Sunset over the river was sublime. The thing that frosts me is that the guy who booked through Expedia got a better room than me for $20 less, and I booked through the hotel. Our third guy paid more than me for a room with two beds in case his brother came and got only one bed. I think it's wrong for them to sell rooms cheaper through the broker than their direct sales. read more

I stayed at this in over 23 years ago. It was nice and clean then but it is even nicer now. They have updated their rooms. The rooms are very clean and we actually found the bed to be comfortable. You cannot beat the views from your room or bed. Breakfast was waffles, fresh fruit and infused juices, boiled eggs, bagels, cereal and yogurt. We will definitely be back. We got back from The Dalles today and it was so great and part of the reason was because of this place! I didn't know what to expect. The Celilo Inn sign looked newer but then you see this huge MOTEL sign. It made me wonder what we were actually going to get. It turned out to be nice place. Nothing fancy but yet not shabby. We had a king size bed over looking the Columbia River, the bridge, and the dam. It was a great view during the day and then the lights at night were nice as well. The place has breakfast daily (6 to 9AM), indoor and outdoor seating and a swimming pool (which I loved). The place even gives you a special pass that gives you free wine tasting at several wineries and gets you in for buy 1 get 1 at about 3 museums. AND...you get a free glass of wine on your first night. The pool is small but it gets the sun so that's nice. The odd thing is that they have the bottom painted brown which made me think it was dirty. When I realized that it was brown I figured it was so that when the dirt from the cliffs behind it fall, it won't be obvious. The pillows were a little too hard for me. I didn't think to ask if they had thinner or softer pillows. The one thing that I did not like was Saturday morning around 8:40 when I went for breakfast. There were about 5 or more employees sitting at the best table of the breakfast area. Whoever was in charge of the breakfast was not restocking and basically when the food was out, it was out. I asked if they had more milk and the person took the pitcher from me, shook it, then said, it was empty. I was waiting for her to bring more but she came back empty handed and sat with the other employees. I saw a couple others looking for this or that and no one paid attention to them. Today we went even earlier and the food was not stocked. People were still coming in and the fruit was empty, bagels/bread bin, empty, yogurt, eggs, empty. Yet the person was not restocking it. I get that they end the breakfast at 9AM, but at least keep it semi stocked until then. The morning experience was the only negative part about it. The good outweighed the bad. I would definitely visit this place again. read more

Have stayed at this hotel in the last 3 or 4 yrs and returned once again for a 2-night stay in July of 2023. Previous visit and my room had issues [blown light bulbs, dust and the window blinds that ran on a track that because it was secured into the ceiling, over time and people would pull the cord down instead of across so this track was now loose and closing the blinds was an effort in futility. Was told by an employee then that the room had not been used for some time so it had not been checked on recently. So imagine my surprise with my most recent visit. Here is a list of things that needed attention during my 2 night stay: dampened a small wash cloth and ran it horizontally over all surfaces I could reach, this was-a mirror [next to the TV], top of the TV, top of 2 pictures hanging on wall, headboard of bed [was just a piece of wood 1.5" thick] bolted to the wall above the bed, floor standing lamp [next to TV] and the window sill in the bathroom. Needless to say, it was filthy! the toilet tank made a noise we're all familiar with, water seeping into the bowl for between 20 - 45 seconds because the flapper in the tank is no longer completely sealed around the opening it covers. so, long story short, there was a leak in the toilet. heard this noise 3 to 4 times during each day of my stay. refrigerator did not work. but this is because it was plugged into an outlet on the back side of the microwave oven which was bolted on top of the refrigerator. that's right, the refrigerator was not plugged directly into a 110 volt electrical receptacle. as for the microwave, it was plugged into an electrical strip that also had the TV and the standing floor lamp plugged into it as well. the LED light of this electrical strip was flashing and this is an indication that the electrical strip needs to be replaced. because refrigerators have compressors that will kick on from time to time, because this refrigerator was plugged into the back of the microwave, when this happened, it would trip its internal fuse and shutdown. discovered the frig was not working the 2nd day when a bottle of wine I was looking to enjoy was still warm when I checked on it. hotel does not use towels colored white, instead it uses ones that are brown in color. unfortunately, I still found a long brown strand of hair on one of the bath towels next to the bathroom sink. I have brown hair but it's short, not long. this hotel washes its own bath linen and does not have it sent out. previous guest(s) used soap provided by hotel but the residue was not cleaned off/away from the bathroom sink. filters in the AC/Heater for the room which are accessible to housekeeping staff had not been cleaned in several weeks. this paying customer took it upon themselves to clean these devices as I do not suffer from COPD or asthma but a future guest to the room I used might. several TV channels were not available due to a contract dispute with the hotels provider which was either Dish or Direct TV. all channels were local to the Portland, OR area. Internet access was a bit confusing and difficult to connect to given that logging in meant having a new tab open in one's browser which one would then enter the password but still another tab would open to let user(s) know how long their session was still available for. some browsers will consider this a security threat and not allow it {Firefox}. Needless to say, having shelled out almost $300 for my 2-night stay has been a very hard pill to swallow especially since upon bringing all these issues to the front desk employee's attention, although they said they could not comp me a night's stay, they would look into it but to date, my credit card still shows charges for BOTH NIGHTS of my stay. Long story short--steer clear of this establishment as the owners, although I was told they treat their employee's well from an employee working the front desk, they seem to have forgotten whom it is they should also treat well.... THE PAYING CUSTOMER! ! ! ! ! ! An Update... After speaking with an employee of this hotel earlier this evening, the following is in effect at this hotel at this time: Because of a staffing shortage in housekeeping [one was let go recently], it would appear that the only "cleaning" that gets done to the rooms on a daily basis [after guests check-out from a room] would be the changing of bed linens, towels and the cleaning of the bathroom mirror & shower. Nothing more is done until a "deep clean" is scheduled for the room which occurs once a month. So rather than keep rooms unavailable to customers because they're less than "reasonably clean" & "healthy" the owner(s) it seems would rather have ALL rooms available but less than clean. In this manner, more rooms available means more money in their pockets when they're occupied by unsuspecting guests. Rather than have cleaner rooms, but less of them, this hotel would rather fill its pockets at the customers expense! read more

Quaint but updated "roadside" motel with fantastic views of the Columbia River and super friendly and accommodating staff. This place may not look like much from the roadside, but was recently renovated with additional work being done to add amenities to their list. Lots of parking, friendly and attentive staff, cute lobby with continental breakfast options, lovely outdoor patio to watch activities on the Columbia, swimming pool, and clean rooms with all the expected (and unexpected) necessities (good air conditioning, mini-fridges, free wi-fi and most with amazing views of the Columbia river), all at reasonable rates. The only caveats, which do not merit any star removals, is that the further rooms can be quite a trek to the lobby and the driveway to the motel is a narrow roadway along some homes making you wonder if you're on the right path. The location is ideal to explore the Columbia Gorge area on both the Oregon and Washington sides, and close enough to go into Hood River as well. Although not "in town", Big Jim's restaurant is nearby for burgers and shakes and seems like a local favorite which includes a drive through. Coffee shops are also close by but they do serve excellent coffee in the lobby. If the Gorge is your destination, consider this motel as a base of operations and you will be well rewarded with a pleasant and memorable stay! read more

We stayed here with a voucher from Living Social, so we received a very reasonable rate of $139 for two nights, plus tax. The room we stayed in was very clean, comfortable and had a great view of The Dalles. The staff was friendly, and the proximity to wineries in the area is fantastic. I do have a few minor concerns, though. My husband and I were really looking forward to some Stumptown coffee prior to leaving the hotel each morning and both times, no coffee! This may seem like a small matter to some, but when you try 2 for 2 and strike out, it's not good. Also, the heat this past weekend soared into the 90's. We walked over to the pool area anticipating a possible swim, but it didn't appear to be very clean. I am assuming that's due to the colder temps from the past week? One last thing to staff: Pretty please, do not rave about a local restaurant unless you've eaten there recently. Going against the reviews of my fellow Yelpers, of the offending dining establishment, we took your advice on one of our evenings. I believe the McDonald's would have been a better (and much cheaper) experience. Your recommendation of The Baldwin Saloon, however, was INCREDIBLE...thank you! Overall though, we really did enjoy the renovated space and appreciated the history of this place. We'll be back. Get that Stumptown brewing!! read more

This is such a cute hotel! We were greeted by Karla when we checked in around 7pm, she was so friendly. She gave us a complimentary glass of wine, and a wine passport to taste around The Dalles for free. Such a great touch to make your stay awesome. There is breakfast - coffee / tea, grab and go pastries & muffins, granola bars, fruit, yogurt, etc. The rooms look over the river / the dam, unfortunately we were here when the smoke rolled in so there wasn't much of a view. We stayed in a queen in the top of the two story building in the back. Nice small room. The view includes the roof of the front one story building and The Dalles Dam. The dam's night lights are nice. No view on the bottom floor. The front building gives you the best view but you're exposed to I-84. Nice pool, except the shadows from the overhead beams were annoying. There is a handicap lift at the pool. Friendly service. Good coffee. read more

I love loved loved my stay! Why? First the room was so nice and very comfortable and so clean. The view was remarkable. The pool was remarkable. The breakfast was sooooo delicious. And I so enjoyed the workout room. Oh..and if I didn't mention, the staff was top notch...so committed to being incredibly friendly and the facility was just meticulous...not just clean but I could tell much attention was given to giving what was possibly a vintage hotel a big makeover!! Be careful with this place if you book through a third party like Priceline. They will charge you after you've already been charged through the third party. Not only that but I stayed only one night and I was charged $165. Called and spoke to someone who said that they would speak with the auditor. So basically ONE night at this hotel cost me about $300. My husband and I stayed 2 nights at the Celilo Inn for my birthday at the beginning of June. It was a very nice stay with a comfortable and quiet room and an excellent view of the Columbia river and the Dalles dam. They have a beautiful little breakfast room within the lobby which looks out over the river. The breakfast is simple but very good. I especially liked the berry salad. This place is incredible. The staff are all so nice and helpful. I work construction and I like to stay here. Today, I came back to a clean room and noticed a really sweet note from the housekeeping staff. I went to the front desk to relay a thank you, and found out a gal named Rosalinda left it. Beautiful view of the Dalles! The place is just newly remodeled..almost alike a Marriott courtyard ...kept very clean. The staff is super friendly. If you can't sleep through slight road noise you might want to avoid since its about 2 football fields from the 84. It wasn't something I noticed until I opened the windows. Only thing is lower room ceilings are so thin that if King Kong decides to walk on stilts til past your bedtime, you're simply gonna have to enjoy the sound show from below. We stayed overnight here recently after seeing it from the highway for years. It was delightful! The rooms and common areas are tastefully and comfortably modern; the mattress (the most important part of any lodging, right?) deserves special mention. Each room has an expansive view of the Columbia River, The Dalles Dam, and the toll bridge to Washington, and there are outdoor viewing areas as well. Noise from I-84 was undetectable in our room. Bathroom facilities were fine, and the brewed coffee available in the lobby was Stumptown. Every single member of the staff that we encountered were friendly and courteous. Special compliments to Gunner, who suggested the Hi-Way House for dinner as a local's favorite. Highly recommneded! read more

This family owned hotel is a delight. The location is amazing, all rooms have a view of the Columbia River, the Dalles Dam, railroads and the town of the Dalles to the west. Our room was terrific, King bed, good shower, comfy reading chair, small table with chairs to sit and admire the view. Not noisy, other than train whistles which IMO are fabulous. Good complimentary breakfast of cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, coffee, breads, juices and coffee with real half and half! Staff are friendly and helpful, parking right outside your door. Very reasonable price of less than $100 and a great place to stay. read more
