This lovely motel has been redone and a beautiful fashion. It's it's above the Dalles near the dam with a view that second to none. The reservation process was smooth, and we had a dog with us, which was no problem. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was especially roomy, and there was a small fridge and microwave for our use. We had a king deluxe room that had a table and chairs by the window that overlooks the city and the Columbia River, and there was a nice ocean to chair along with that wonderful, king-size bed. We were very comfortable that evening and recommend it to anyone. They have breakfast in the lobby, but we did not take advantage of that as we were up early and on the road. Reasonable rates and super clean rooms. You can't beat it! read more

A hidden gem along the Columbia River. The views out of the room are worth a million dollars. The Columbia River, the The Dalles Dam are right in front of you. Mt. hood had snow the day we arrived and the next day it looked like a giant white snow cone top. The lobby and adjoining outdoor patio have the same views and with the glass of wine you get at arrival , a perfect place to sit and relax. We have been in town numerous times to visit family but have always stayed in town at different hotels. This will now be the only hotel we stay at. The hotel has been renovated very nicely. It's a basic room but they are very clean. The staff is top notch and treat you like family. It feels like the old time "mom n pop" type motels so hard to find nowadays. read more

OMG...do not judge a book by its cover . We drove 10 hours from CA so upon arrival we were stoked to find all we needed: fascinating view of the Dalles, nice red wine, comfy patio, lovely sunset, super bed, and clean room. We enjoyed sunset and mtn view from the patio while drinking wine and planning the next day's drive to Montana. You should book a king room to get best room. The queen rooms don't have much to look at. This place is awesome, and price is reasonable too. read more

The Celilo Inn was a good mid-point stop for our wildflower hikes at Rowena Crest and Dalles Mountain Ranch. I had my doubts as the hotel is located out of town and looks rather old from the outside. But it had good reviews so we gave it a try. Their web site would not accept my credit card expiration date, so I had to use a different card when reserving. I printed out the confirmation letter, but apparently the reservation never went through. Thankfully, the gal at the front desk was nice to work with and we were still able to get the room I had tried to reserve online (and at a lower price). She gave us a map of restaurants and attractions in the area, and later we were able to get a free glass of wine and sit out on the patio. The wine was fairly acidic, but it was a nice touch and we still enjoyed it. Our "king deluxe" room was basic, but it was clean and had an great view of The Dalles dam and river below. The bed was comfortable, there was a small fridge and microwave, a table and chairs in front of the large window, and the bathroom was updated with a decent sized shower. My only issue with the room was very few electrical outlets to recharge our phones and camera batteries. I found one behind a lamp, and my wife propped her phone on a chair to recharge her phone. I realize it's an old building, but adding more outlets would have been nice when it was remodeled. Still, that's just a minor issue. You do hear the freeway and the trains below, but that's generally the case at any hotel in the gorge. It didn't bother us. Breakfast is served in the lobby with an amazing view. Unfortunately, there was very little food to choose from. Two dry cereals with no milk, toast or english muffins, some berries, yogurt, boiled eggs, coffee and juice. I tried their waffle maker, but it didn't cook the waffles thoroughly so they were doughy inside. The only protein they had was boiled eggs. We managed to scrounge enough of what little they offered to get full, but had I known I would have planned to get breakfast elsewhere. We sat out on their nice outdoor patio for a while, but it was a bit too windy that day to stay out. The pool was still closed for winter so we did not get to try that out. Overall, we were happy with our stay at Celilo Inn and would probably stay again if we are in the area. It was clean, the rates were good, we had a great view, never heard any of the other guests, and it was conveniently located for our trip. read more

I read the reviews here on dis joint. I didn't have the same trip. Seems ta me a lot of those reviews are just the bunk written by dumb bunnies. I stayed in this dump with my dame and another couple on Friday, August 5th. Da free wine yas gets here is marginal. But, that's why it's free right? It isn't anything you'd buy. The room "looked" spotless. It seemed clean to me and everything we needed was in it. In the morning I like a cup of joe. I likes it strong, hot and black. Usually I gets it from the hombres at Starbucks. I hoofed it over to the office to get some. Some dame in there who was staying the night was whining about mold on the muffins. I gives her da buzz while a dude in the office checks the muffins, then removes em from the feeding trough. So's I grabs one of those little pastries with the yellow goo on top. It was old and stale. I didn't see any mold on it. The coffee is the worst coffee I've put in my mug in years, I dumped it out. If that was premium coffee I'm Donald Trump. I've drank a million gallons of java, I know the good, the bad and the ugly. This mud wasn't good. So's when we get ready to breeze on outta there, they says they don't take cabbage in payment only plastic. Mugs like me don't use plastic. We don't take plastic from others, we don't buy anything with plastic, we don't pay juice on us'in plastic. The bozos here don't tell yas they don't take the long green. Lucky for them my dame uses plastic or they'd have to learn to count out dough, real dough or go fish. Least they got river close by. Now here is where da fun starts. I notices I left my leather coin purse, yah, I carries one, Italian leather of course, I keeps real money in it, not roll'in around in my pocket like some daisy. On my way back to the crib about seven hours later Saturday, we stops back there to pick it up. It had cash money in it so's I didn't really figure they'd be able to find it. Know what I'm say'in? A version of the Chinese squeeze eh? I was right, they couldn't find it. It wasn't so much the change, there was a key in the pouch. When we gets in late, I can't find a tactical flashlight I took along. I gets on the ameche in the morning Sunday and the ankle on the other end says they have my flashlight but not my coin purse. She tells me they'll send the light right to me. Today is August the 21st, about two weeks later, I haven't seen it. Sunday morning after stay'in there Friday night, my back is itch'in and so is my shoulder. My broad tells me looks like a rash of some sort in dose spots. I didn't have any rash before I stayed here, or any bites either. Cost me over 200 smackeroos to stay one night including the property I didn't get back when I left this flim flam joint. I got a long memory. I'm hop'in the thief looks me up to find out what the key goes to. We can make a little Chicago Lightning together, ha! If it was me pally, next trip I'd drive on down the road and stay in a chain motel, someplace reputable. I'm not jingle brained enough to stay here again. read more

Very clean, nicely remodeled little hotel. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the towels were thick and nice, and the soaps smelled good. The room itself was really small, as in not even room to put a little table at which to eat your take out food. The shower was also tiny. The continental breakfast was pretty sparce but the Stumptown coffee was good. Didn't get to sit in the pool but I loved the mid century wood beams flying above. My husband and I stayed here a few weeks ago, and we were totally satisfied! They were super friendly, kind, and helpful, and made last-minute changes (last minute I needed to bring my dog) for our reservation willingly and graciously. I arrived midday on Friday willing to complete a couple of online meetings while sitting on the patio, but Paula at the front desk was very accommodating. She checked her reservations and found a room that was already clean so I could check in early--which I really appreciated! (The WIFI was great.) The rooms are small but very clean and cute, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. We will definitely stay here again if we need to do another overnighter in The Dalles. read more

Booked a room last minute and was pleasantly surprised! For an older establishment the rooms were extremely clean and a lot of effort has been put into a welcoming updated atmosphere. Beds and linens were very comfy! The staff was beyond friendly, polite, and attentive. The views from the room were beautiful. Deschutes River fishing trip was made complete with this comfortable, affordable, clean, quiet, hot water, strong water pressure, excellent and extensive breakfast bar including fresh fruit, boiled eggs, muffins, toast, cereal, and yogurt. Add to that the kind and responsive front desk staff at both check in and check out as well as the generous gesture of putting the breakfast out 2 hours early to accommodate our 4am fishing trip departure all combines to make this my "go to" place for all future trips along I84. read more

The best little Motel in the Dalles. We were looking for a place to stay and found a new getaway. Karla was amazing, she found us a room even though we didn't have a reservation. She even found a spot for my 37 foot travel trailer. The view was amazing. My six year old grand/daughter was thrilled to be able to look out our window and see the Dalles Dam and watch as the sun went down and the lights came on. In the morning the two of us had a perfect breakfast with a window seat to an overlook to the town, Dalles Dam and overlook of the Gorge. With our tummies full we brought a little something back to mom. (She got a quick break and some quiet time) Can't wait to return and I'm sure we will get the special that includes the bottle of wine. Thanks again for all that you provided in our time of need. We stayed here over Labor Day weekend and were lucky to get a room. I have driven past it on I-84 many times and always wondered what the hype was about, since it didn't look like a place I would want to stay in at all. Well, we couldn't find anyplace available in the region for our anniversary and I ended up booking here on a lark. So glad we did! I would not have anticipated this, but now I want to return to The Dalles again for another weekend of wine and hiking exploration and stay here. They have a wine passport that is very useful. We used the coupon for the Discovery Center, plus for the Baldwin Saloon. If we didn't have to leave early the next day we would have done their complimentary Lazy Sunday wine tour (seasonal, not a permanent thing). We spent the evening after dinner on their patio listening to their live music and enjoying a complimentary glass of their own branded (columbia hills) wine, plus a comped rounded for our anniversary (thank you!). The fire pit, view, cheese/grapes, and music were so nice. The next morning before going rafting, we enjoyed their breakfast very much. Good granola, yogurt, tea, etc. and again enjoyed the patio with the view of the whole river, bridge, and dam. Driving up to the hotel (technically a motel) is sketchy and so weird. But you round the corner and see the beautiful little lobby. The rooms were a delight. Very clean and modern. Our room had an unobstructed view of the river and hills. This is not someplace that was just bought and new bedspreads thrown on. They TOTALLY renovated it. They left the old Motel sign up as an homage (that's my guess anyways). The Inn is remodeled and the room is tidy with a nice comfortable bed. I slept great with tight clean sheets and nice pillows. The rooms look new as I guess they remodeled recently. The staff couldn't be nicer. I was there alone for work nearby and they recommended the Baldwin Saloon for dinner. Great historical place with great food! They even offered to fire up the patio fire pit for me as I sipped my glass of free wine they gave me. Great view of the dam and bridge on the mighty Columbia river from my room window! The only ding is I wish the bathroom window had curtains. It's muted glass but the outside lights shine in and I like dark as I'm a country living guy. read more

My husband and I stayed last night at Celilo Inn. Gayle got us checked in, provided us complimentary glasses of wine, and suggested a couple places for dinner. She was upbeat, friendly, and helpful. The room was nicely furnished, modern looking, and the view was gorgeous! It's a unique place and has a cozy feel that you don't get at the big chain hotels. Great view of the Columbia and the Dalles. The rooms are clean but basic. The bathrooms are quite small. There is a daily breakfast and you can get coffee and tea throughout the day. Close to many local attractions, wineries and breweries. Be aware that the Dalles has an active rail line so keep the fan on at night if the noise is bothersome. read more

BEST. MOTEL. EVER. !!! The views are breathtaking and would be a dream spot for photographer's. It's super clean and the decorated nicely. I would even call the place romantic. The staff are super friendly and you can tell the housekeeping staff take pride in their work by the little notes they leave you. They even brush the word celilio onto the velvet bench at the end of the bed. Super nice little touch! My boyfriend and I come here often from Troutdale for quick little getaways. Poor customer service and very rude. We were left behind at Maryhill Winery because the bus service they offer did not confirm a head count as promised. We eventually were picked up by an employee who had worked there for 3 days! Mind you, we were the last ones left at the winery. She told us that she would be "pissed" if she was us. The entire staff was scrambling and scattered and very apologetic for the mishap. At least they cared and recognized the mess up! In morning I followed up with my frustrations and the employee was going to reduce my expensive room rate to a figure i thought more fair. She then came back with a completely different attitude and answer after she talked to her "manager". It was as if she was scolding me. Taking no responsibility for leaving us behind. "She said it was made clear what time the bus was leaving." It was as if I was in trouble. It was ridiculous. Even if we did misunderstand the pick up time, we were told there would be a head count, as to not leave anyone behind, not to mention we are the customer! Which is primary reason for writing this review so that no one else has to experience this sham of a business. I asked who the manager was and who the owner was. The snarky response by the front desk was, "my manager feels the 20$ discount was adequate and the owner is not to bothered." So the owner doesn't want to know his guests are dissatisfied? What a shame. They should have honored the original price reductions. You don't offer a new price and then go back on it. Won't be back! read more
