These are all pee, stains on the floor of our room!

You would think for what they charge for rooms I would get one that didn't have a bunch of wet dog pee stains in the carpet. I had to wear my shoes to walk around the room because I didn't like getting pee on my socks or bare feet. We tried to get our money refunded but they wouldn't do it. We should've just left instead of spending a night in a room that reeked of dog urine. Don't pay for your room without looking at it first. we ended up spending the next night at the Holiday Inn. It was really nice with a great breakfast and clean on top of that It was cheaper than the room at Celilo Inn The spots you see in the picture are wet from dog pee!

Best Hotel in the Dalles, hands down. Every single thing looked and smelled brand new. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. I spoke to Paula, the night manager. The owner is a perfectionist, and he has hired the best Hotel people in the town and pays them all very well. He has remodelled the entire place and seeks to run this 1950s motel like it was the best Hilton. I was pleasantly surprised, heck I was shocked, but seriously this place deserves its rating. Trust me!

Interesting view...of some houses. Freeway is right next to you but you can't hear it with the windows and curtains closed. Has a good complimentary breakfast. We had a comfortable bed. Had an old lady house smell Towels were old! Price for the accommodations a little high

Stop here to check in and enjoy the view!

Miguel is wonderful! Took such good care of us! What a view! So clean and quiet. Over looking the Columbia River. So lovely to have an excellent glass of wine upon arrival. Rooms are small, but have all you need, great A/C, comfortable bed, nice shower & bathroom. I will stay here again.

I stayed at this in over 23 years ago. It was nice and clean then but it is even nicer now. They have updated their rooms. The rooms are very clean and we actually found the bed to be comfortable. You cannot beat the views from your room or bed. Breakfast was waffles, fresh fruit and infused juices, boiled eggs, bagels, cereal and yogurt. We will definitely be back. A little pricey but again the views are amazing.

We got back from The Dalles today and it was so great and part of the reason was because of this place! I didn't know what to expect. The Celilo Inn sign looked newer but then you see this huge MOTEL sign. It made me wonder what we were actually going to get. It turned out to be nice place. Nothing fancy but yet not shabby. We had a king size bed over looking the Columbia River, the bridge, and the dam. It was a great view during the day and then the lights at night were nice as well. The place has breakfast daily (6 to 9AM), indoor and outdoor seating and a swimming pool (which I loved). The place even gives you a special pass that gives you free wine tasting at several wineries and gets you in for buy 1 get 1 at about 3 museums. AND...you get a free glass of wine on your first night. The pool is small but it gets the sun so that's nice. The odd thing is that they have the bottom painted brown which made me think it was dirty. When I realized that it was brown I figured it was so that when the dirt from the cliffs behind it fall, it won't be obvious. The pillows were a little too hard for me. I didn't think to ask if they had thinner or softer pillows. The one thing that I did not like was Saturday morning around 8:40 when I went for breakfast. There were about 5 or more employees sitting at the best table of the breakfast area. Whoever was in charge of the breakfast was not restocking and basically when the food was out, it was out. I asked if they had more milk and the person took the pitcher from me, shook it, then said, it was empty. I was waiting for her to bring more but she came back empty handed and sat with the other employees. I saw a couple others looking for this or that and no one paid attention to them. Today we went even earlier and the food was not stocked. People were still coming in and the fruit was empty, bagels/bread bin, empty, yogurt, eggs, empty. Yet the person was not restocking it. I get that they end the breakfast at 9AM, but at least keep it semi stocked until then. The morning experience was the only negative part about it. The good outweighed the bad. I would definitely visit this place again.

Yikes. Looks like someone in housekeeping couldn't be bothered to dust my room. Once in awhile!

Have stayed at this hotel in the last 3 or 4 yrs and returned once again for a 2-night stay in July of 2023. Previous visit and my room had issues [blown light bulbs, dust and the window blinds that ran on a track that because it was secured into the ceiling, over time and people would pull the cord down instead of across so this track was now loose and closing the blinds was an effort in futility. Was told by an employee then that the room had not been used for some time so it had not been checked on recently. So imagine my surprise with my most recent visit. Here is a list of things that needed attention during my 2 night stay: dampened a small wash cloth and ran it horizontally over all surfaces I could reach, this was-a mirror [next to the TV], top of the TV, top of 2 pictures hanging on wall, headboard of bed [was just a piece of wood 1.5" thick] bolted to the wall above the bed, floor standing lamp [next to TV] and the window sill in the bathroom. Needless to say, it was filthy! the toilet tank made a noise we're all familiar with, water seeping into the bowl for between 20 - 45 seconds because the flapper in the tank is no longer completely sealed around the opening it covers. so, long story short, there was a leak in the toilet. heard this noise 3 to 4 times during each day of my stay. refrigerator did not work. but this is because it was plugged into an outlet on the back side of the microwave oven which was bolted on top of the refrigerator. that's right, the refrigerator was not plugged directly into a 110 volt electrical receptacle. as for the microwave, it was plugged into an electrical strip that also had the TV and the standing floor lamp plugged into it as well. the LED light of this electrical strip was flashing and this is an indication that the electrical strip needs to be replaced. because refrigerators have compressors that will kick on from time to time, because this refrigerator was plugged into the back of the microwave, when this happened, it would trip its internal fuse and shutdown. discovered the frig was not working the 2nd day when a bottle of wine I was looking to enjoy was still warm when I checked on it. hotel does not use towels colored white, instead it uses ones that are brown in color. unfortunately, I still found a long brown strand of hair on one of the bath towels next to the bathroom sink. I have brown hair but it's short, not long. this hotel washes its own bath linen and does not have it sent out. previous guest(s) used soap provided by hotel but the residue was not cleaned off/away from the bathroom sink. filters in the AC/Heater for the room which are accessible to housekeeping staff had not been cleaned in several weeks. this paying customer took it upon themselves to clean these devices as I do not suffer from COPD or asthma but a future guest to the room I used might. several TV channels were not available due to a contract dispute with the hotels provider which was either Dish or Direct TV. all channels were local to the Portland, OR area. Internet access was a bit confusing and difficult to connect to given that logging in meant having a new tab open in one's browser which one would then enter the password but still another tab would open to let user(s) know how long their session was still available for. some browsers will consider this a security threat and not allow it {Firefox}. Needless to say, having shelled out almost $300 for my 2-night stay has been a very hard pill to swallow especially since upon bringing all these issues to the front desk employee's attention, although they said they could not comp me a night's stay, they would look into it but to date, my credit card still shows charges for BOTH NIGHTS of my stay. Long story short--steer clear of this establishment as the owners, although I was told they treat their employee's well from an employee working the front desk, they seem to have forgotten whom it is they should also treat well.... THE PAYING CUSTOMER! ! ! ! ! ! An Update... After speaking with an employee of this hotel earlier this evening, the following is in effect at this hotel at this time: Because of a staffing shortage in housekeeping [one was let go recently], it would appear that the only "cleaning" that gets done to the rooms on a daily basis [after guests check-out from a room] would be the changing of bed linens, towels and the cleaning of the bathroom mirror & shower. Nothing more is done until a "deep clean" is scheduled for the room which occurs once a month. So rather than keep rooms unavailable to customers because they're less than "reasonably clean" & "healthy" the owner(s) it seems would rather have ALL rooms available but less than clean. In this manner, more rooms available means more money in their pockets when they're occupied by unsuspecting guests. Rather than have cleaner rooms, but less of them, this hotel would rather fill its pockets at the customers expense!

Li W.

Not only is Celilo Inn clean and modern, but the views of the Columbia River gorge from the rooms are spectacular! I will stay here next time I visit the Dalles.

Nice! Good pick for a relaxing evening on their outdoor patio enjoying the expansive river view, Cascade cliffs, firepit, sunset, and maybe some live music. There's wine for sale there, complimentary arrival pours, or bring your own bottle from your day of tasting! Good positioning to sample some of the area's more Eastern winery locations like Maryhill, Cascade Cliffs, Jacob Williams, Memaloose or Dry Hollow. I recently stayed at a Hyatt in Chicago, and the guest rooms are strikingly similar in style and comfort (bathrooms, lobby area, and exterior not as fancy here, but I like the feel and the friendliness of the place). read more

When you look at this remodeled motel from the outside you would not expect the accomodations inside. The king bed rooms have spectacular views of the Columbia River, very comfortable pillow top beds and flat screen tv. There is also a firepit in the front and free wine upon check-in. This place is way better than the Shilo Inn I stayed at last time I was in the dalles. It is slightly overpriced like most places in town but a very enjoyable place to stay. read more

We had a wonderful time at the Celilo Inn. The room was clean and comfortable. We had a nice view of the river. Breakfast was tasty. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the pool and the fire on the patio. We got a AAA discount on the room and they gave us discount coupons for dinner. The wine passport was an added bonus. We used the free tasting passes at 4 of the 7 wineries featured. Sunshine Mill Winery is a must see. It was our first trip to Oregon and we will be back. read more

Have stayed here 5 times ( twice in last 10 days) . The wildflowers are spectacular this bloom due to good rains , and warm spring. Always find a kind friendly receptionist (hats off to Mason and Zaira) who gives us our complimentary glass of wine on arrival. Even though it looks ''old timey'' from the I-84 freeway. The main ''old time'' is the care they give you , like the good old days : rooms and beds , bathrooms ,decor all first rate. They are very knowledgeable about local events , wineries , and even have a winery tour that can be part of your stay . The area is gorgeous w/ spring wildflowers , fruit orchards and vineyards , as well as the mighty Columbia River . Very good value ; free wifi (that works !!!!!) . Continental breakfast and one of Portlands Premiere coffees served in the lobby. Only ding is no bathtub for the bad back folks ; yes there is a heated pool , but not inviting at late night arrival and off to photograph at 5 am! read more

Years ago this was our favorite place to stay. Last year we stayed but found that the nice drive way had been turned into shabby home slots. The view out the windows overlooking the river and dam is spoiled by the shabby home sites. This week we decided to give it one more stay. Now our usual room was full of bugs, on the walls, windows and bed. We complained and moved to another room higher up. Same problem.. They gave us a discount and bottle of wine but we won't be back. It's a real shame this use to be such a great place. read more

I've now stayed here on two separate occasions. The rooms are fantastic, with the King rooms having fantastic views of the Columbia River and the dam. It is really beautiful at night. The best part of the room is the bed. I checked my Fitbit, and found that I had my best sleep in months. Something you wouldn't expect is the fantastic foods set out for breakfast. Great coffee, fresh sliced fruit, some of the best yogurt I've ever had and more. Paula did a great job of making sure everything was great in the breakfast area, and checking me out. This place is not very friendly, after an okay experience last year we decided to try again, well my wife fell sick and we had to cancel the front desk could only keep repeating cancellation policy, with no other cares in the world, it was a very busy weekend and we knew they could rent the room out to someone else! I asked several times to have management call me but of course didn't happen! We will never stay here again, I even suggested we move the reservation forward however no luck! Wow, what a great two night stay we had at Celilo Inn! Paula and her crew run an incredibly attentive operation. We felt like we were staying at a 5-star hotel! When we arrived, we had a choice of a glass of very good red or white Oregon wines. The next two mornings, the breakfast buffet - served in a beautiful modern space with huge windows overlooking the Columbia River and the dam - was sumptuous. High quality yogurts, amazing assortment of custom bagels and cream cheese, fresh fruits (blueberries and strawberries!), granola and great coffee really got our days started perfectly. And the king bed - SO comfy. The front desk staff are wonderful, knew a lot about the dam and its operation, and gave great visitor recommendations - even provided two-for-one coupons! We used one to visit the fantastic Columbia Gorge Interpretive Center Museum - a fantastic museum, with a raptor rehab program (live bald eagles, hawks and owls, up close and personal!) What a bargain and highly recommended! We had a great time in The Dalles, and would definitely return to the Celilo Inn! read more

This is a true Boutique Hotel/Motel. The rooms are clean and updated. The pool is warm and the staff are all very friendly. Don't let the location or the drive up to the hotel/motel fool you! I find it odd to find such a place out in the Dallas Oregon, but what a neat quite, restful gem. They have live music in the evenings on the patio, with complementary wine. After reading reviews we decided to give this hotel a try. Overall, it was ok. We payed $189 for a king suite as that was all that was available. For the price it was not at all what we had hoped. The bathroom was very small and the pool closed at dark as they don't have any lights. Breakfast didn't help make the case as they only had coffee and pastries. It is also close to the train tracks and you go through an awkward housing area to get to the inn. However, the view was fabulous and it was clean. read more

Located right on 2nd Street in The Dalles, it's a great place to stop if you're wandering the various tasting rooms and bare pubs in the area. Since it was my first time here, I did the flight. The first wine, the Locomotive, had me with the very light taste with hints of honey and papaya. Not one to typically drink whites, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. On a warm or even hot day, this would be perfect. As I made my way through the tasting, I found that I was enjoying several of their wines. The High Tension, their club favorite, was a full bodied blend of Syrah, Merlot and Barbera. A perfect everyday drinking wine And good for parties where you need a wine that pleases many palettes. The other standout for me was the Barbera. Very smooth, full body and slightly jammy. Since I'm in a Barbera club at Cascade Cliffs, I left with the Locomotive. I'm looking forward to a warm spring day to sit in my deck and enjoy with friends. The tasting room inside is small and simple. A picnic tables and seats out in the paved area out front, nice on a sunny day. I'll definitely be back.

What it is though, is really pretty cool. It looks a little divey with old, run-down tables and I'm down with that. Funny signs behind the tasting station that really do look like they belong in a dive bar. But here's the thing: the folks running the place are sweet as all heck and they have some really good wine which is why you are there. There's no fancy gift shop or anything fancy at all...but the wine. Remember why you are there. It's all about the wine folks. Being on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge you will find different wines than the usual, boring pinot noirs that do so well in the Dundee region. Sorry folks, pinot noir is not my thing. Big, bold reds, now, that's my thing. I tasted several varieties and approved of them all but the tempranillo was off the hook. One more thing, if you are hungry, you'll notice that it smells really good in here. I did not partake but the BBQ pulled pork was very, very tempting and prepared there by the proprietors. I just liked the very quiet location close to but not real near stores, restaurants, ect. Zaira and the rest of the staff was super friendly also. There was a mixup on when I was leaving and this was re mediated with a nice gift basket of a bottle of wine and other assorted knick naks and sincere apologies . My house was water damaged so now my insurance company has put me in a motel closer to my residence. If I had my way I'd be staying at the Celilo Inn the whole time till I can live at home again. A real bargain for the price. It's almost like they know they're not a big chain motel so they are going out of their way to be accommodating to their guests. Oh also, even though I didn't have a view room, the view is pretty nice of The Dalles Dam and the Columbia River. read more

We stayed at The Celilo Inn for a 2-night excursion to the Columbia River Wine Area. We were amazed at the hospitality, cleanliness, and comfort of the "boutique" motel. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to enjoy the panoramic views of Mt Hood, the Columbia River, The Dalles Bridge, and The Dalles Dam. The complimentary breakfast is plentiful and the pastries are from a fabulous local bakery (YUMMY)!
