Inattentive waiter, took forever to get our food, soup and main dish was room temperature. Just for a slice of cake we waited 20 min. They were out of the dessert I picked and then charged for it anyways. This place is way too pricey for this low level quality of service. Will not be back here and I certainly don't recommended it to anyone. read more

Not sure if the kitchen was behind or the server forgot on us. My family of 10 waited in a hot area for the food to come out. We got so full on bread that by the time the food came out, we were too full to eat our entrees. I have been here before and received great food and service. Not sure what happened this time. read more

there food is very good and our server was on top of his game, he always made sure we had our drinks filled. food came out quick and hot.

Good food , good prices , but you need to teach your waiters boundaries . First , when we got our salads he INSISTED on blessing our meals . I thought this was strange, but lucky for him we all shared the same religion. Second, many of my friends there were Hispanic and the waiter demanded that they speak to him in Spanish even after they told him they were more comfortable speaking to him in English. We all got separate checks and my meal was $9.10 or so . I gave him $10 even and said that I did not need change back. He took it , and responded saying "you don't tip?!" . I was baffled . I was going to leave him a tip on our way out like I always do . Now, he decided to give us "a lesson in tipping" insinuating that we had never worked before and didn't know what it was like to have to work for a living which I found extremely unprofessional and uncalled for . Again, the restaurant itself was fine but this waiter was absolutely awful. read more

Service was not great, they were not super friendly or attentive. Food was terrible and thus very overpriced. My mother had the seafood linguine and I had the seafood risotto and both were runny and some of the shrimp undercooked. The mussels still had sand in them. We also tried the mushroom ravioli that was very dry and un-flavorful. Of the 3 dishes we tried, all three were not good and we will not be going back. We are very unimpressed with this place. read more

Worst dining experience my wife, daughter and I have ever had. My daughter was visiting us for the weekend and she had never eaten at Marvino's, so we decided to treat her to a new restaurant. My wife and I had eaten at Marvino's once before and had a good experience. Not tonight. Service was very, very slow. We had a 7:00pm reservation, didn't get our food until 8:10pm. And when we got our food the steaks were under cooked, we wanted our steaks cooked medium and they came out blood red. And to top it off, my daughter was missing the vegetable she order. We had to ask a couple of times to get the vegetable. And by the time she received the vegetable she was already done with her steak. We have had better service and food at the Outback. The manager came over and we explained our frustrations. He took the vegetable off the tab, could have done more for us. Our waitress told us that unfortunately the poor service happens a lot because they have a new chef and are changing the menu. Not something you want to be telling customers, that the restaurant has poor service complaints. Long and the short, will never be back to this restaurant, this was a horrendous dining experience. will go to the Outback, Texas Roadhouse or Saltgrass before trying this restaurant again. Funny thing is, my wife and I had dinner at Darios this past week, same owners of Marvino's, and the service and food was top notch. They should have whoever is managing Dario's manage Marvino's also. Maybe that person can turn Marvino's around. And I gave this only 1 star because I had to rate it somehow. Customers beware of poor service and mediocre food!! read more

We went at 7:30 on a Wednesday night and we didn't get to leave until after 10. It took at least 15 minutes to get water, and then when the waitress did show up she made a huge deal about how my friends and I apparently don't look old enough to drink (we are in our mid-late twenties so while I understand her questioning it, she didn't have to make us feel like children). She brought us bread and no plates so we got to sit there holding the bread in our hands like idiots. We finally ordered our appetizers about 30 minutes in, and didn't receive our drinks or appetizers for another 45. She then took our orders for our entrees. My husband and I both asked for half orders, and our friends asked for full orders. I ordered the soup of the day. When I finally received my soup 20 minutes later, she brought me a different soup than I ordered, stating that they did not have the first one and she figured I might want this other one instead. I thought it was very weird that she didn't bother to ask me what I wanted first, but at this point I was starving so I accepted it. On the plus side, the soup was delicious (broccoli cheese). Our food finally showed up around 9:30, but she brought my husband a full order even though he ordered a half, and my friend a half even though she ordered a full. She laughed and gave my husband the full order and said "Well here, I guess you get a full." When we finally got the bill around 10:00, surprise, she charged us for a full. When we pulled her aside to tell her about this error, she played dumb and said "oh I didn't hear you say half" even though we brought it up to her upon receiving the food. It took 20 minutes for her to reconcile the bill, during which we discovered that she ran our friends' credit card for someone elses' bill, which then had to be voided out. When we finally all had our bills and were getting ready to add her tip, she came over and stood there awkwardly, telling us that it was only "like my third day" and that they "didn't even really train me at all." The whole situation was awkward and I can't see myself ever coming here again. There was hardly anybody there for the last hour and a half, so I have no idea why everything took so long or why the manager was not helping this employee. The food was fine but overpriced. TLDR: Food was fine but the service was awful. read more

Great place for Italian food. The moment you step in you notice how nicely done the decor and interior is, the staff is wonderful, very attentive and everyone looked like they enjoyed it there. I really liked the bread they serve you as well as the olive dipping sauce. We tried their calamari which was tender and crispy as well as their egg plant with crab, which was also tasty. Also drinks were always refilled and there was never a time that we had to get a waiters attention to get a drink. Service was phenomenal. I ordered the Gulf red snapper dish, the Sauce was light, creamy and very wonderful tasting. The snapper was pan seared and was moist and crispy. The garlic spinach was soft and cooked really well. We were celebrating a birthday so they brought out a slice of chocolate cake and to be honest it was one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had, simply because it has that natural chocolate taste and it wasn't too sweet like most other chocolate is. Overall I was thoroughly surprised how everything from the service to the food was exceptionally executed. I would go back again and would recommend it to anyone who hasn't been. read more

I called ahead for reservations and was told I needed 8 people to make a reservation. I only had 6 at the time, so I rounded up 2 more people and called back to make the reservation to then be lied to and told I had to have 10 people and when I questioned her about the previous call where she had told me 8 people she then tells me she was mistaken and they didn't take reservations at all. I asked to speak to a manager and she hung up on me, I called back and of course someone else answered and started telling me that I hadn't been hung up on and that the girl was mistaken because they don't take reservations. He also began to tell me that I needed to get some Christmas spirit because I wasn't being very nice. Long story short we ended up with 10 people and I had my friend call them and make a reservation which they excepted without hesitation. Even though their food is good for the most part I would have a hard time going back and my friends agree for the following service issues. We were seated without napkins or silverware, bread was brought to the table but when we asked for some oil we got the oil but then they were out of bread. We had to ask for everything several times including the place settings. This is our fourth and last Christmas Eve we will be going here. The 4 extra guests we brought with us were first time visitors and won't be going back. read more

Very good, I had a wedge salad and senior lasagna, with the bread and olive oil and that was all I could eat. Wife had seafood tortellini, that she said was very good. Wait staff was attentive and efficient. We'll be back. read more

Horrible service. My husband and I went here for my birthday and waited a few minutes just to be seen by the hostess, who only said "follow me" once we told her we had 2 people. We sat and had to wait about 5 minutes before getting to talk to anyone and that was only because a manager walked by. The waitress probably came to our table twice and that was to ask what we wanted and to bring our appetizer. We got a bottle of wine and spinach dip to start. The spinach artichoke dip was good, thus the one star. We ordered, got our salads within good timing, but then waited close to 30 minutes with no entree. The server never came by so we finally told the manager to cancel the entree and that we would pay for the rest. The server then conveniently brought our food out in to-go boxes just as the manager came to apologize. Will never come back here. read more

Our first time to eat here. We got calamari for an appetizer, minestrone soup and Cesar salad to start. Bread also came out...everything was very good and appropriate temperature. One thing I loved is that they don't oversauce their food. For entree we had chicken Marsala and pork chop with mint demi glacé. Sides were sautéed spinach, polenta and fettuccine alfredo. Everything was served with perfect timing, portions were very good sized. I had to take part of mine home. They packed up my food for me. Offered us dessert, we knew we weren't going to get anything but we asked what was available. Our waiter, Augustino, who was amazing btw...said it was something we needed to see. When he brought it out I started laughing. Best dessert cart I've ever seen!!! We will definitely be back to try dessert and coffee. The only negative was that we sat next to a table of people who obviously couldn't consume liquor without being ridiculously loud...I am all for a good time, but if you have to start yelling to hear yourself...you've probably had too much. This is nothing to do with the restaurant...just people Overall the experience was great and we will be back. I was a litttle hesitant because of some of the bad reviews but definitely some place to come and try. Oh and definitely better than Olive Garden, which I saw a previous review mention. read more

Food was good. Service not so much. We arrived at 2pm so the place was not busy. Server was either new with no guidance or just didn't care.

Hadn't been since they first opened and I have to say, whatever kinks needed to be worked out, have been done. We had a fabulous experience. The food and service were excellent. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Pasta was fresh and delicious. Will definitely be back. read more

I recently visited here with some dear friends for a birthday celebration and was never so disappointed in my life. One of the people in the party didn't receive her food the way she had requested and thus brought it to the attention of the waiter, who by the way was ok, and he proceeded to correct it. Way done was unprofessional but at least he tried. Came back way over cooked after just being dropped on her plate, so she again brought it to his attention and it was taken back again. Everyone was all but done by the time they got it right!! Problem was when the bill came there was no credit given for their error after being told there would be, and to make matters worse the manager in charge came over and actually argued with her in front of everyone. How unprofessional can you be? He finally discounted it $1.00 what an insult. Needless to say I will NEVER go back or recommend it to anyone. Their prices are high for what you get as well. They used u tube to make a drink and it was wrong anyway!!! Such a HUGE disappointment. What has happened to customer service? Sooo very sad!!! read more

Good food, decent wine selection, service is fine and prices are reasonable. Chicken Picatta is good and wife enjoyed the Egg Plant Parmagiana. Only negative is that service does feel hurried at times. read more

Walked in at 6pm and was immediately greeted and seated. Decor is pleasant, but the stone/faux stone is a bit much. Just not my style. Server was very pleasant and attentive. Drinks were brought out quickly along with bread. The bread seemed to be just sliced and definitely not out of the oven. Had a very spongy texture, and wasn't very appetizing. For the meal I ordered the Red Snapper on a bed of spinach while my wife ordered the chicken fettucini Alfredo. I thought the snapper was cooked well and it was tasty. I don't exactly think that it was worth $25, but maybe the one shrimp and few bits of crab bumps the price up. $15 to $20 would have been more appropriate. The entree came with a house salad that was limp and not chilled. The fettucini was above average, but the chicken had a processed feel and taste to it. It was sliced as if it was carved, similar to turkey. The half order was $7, and the portion size was appropriate. I'm giving 3 stars. Food overall was average, bread was below average as was the salad. Fish was good but the chicken was definitely not. The server did a great job and the ambiance and decor is nice. I would put the food a step above Olive Garden but several steps below Carraba's. Would have loved for it to be better since I live in the area and Cypress needs more dining options. Hoping that maybe things get better as time goes by, but won't be dining here again. read more

My husband and I went on Saturday for lunch and we are so happy to say that finally a good Italian restaurant has arrived to Cypress! We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer - loved the made from scratch marinara sauce! For the entrees we got the chicken piccata - the artichokes and capers made this plate exactly what it should be, amazing lemon flavor! Also got the homemade jalapeño fettuccine with shrimp called Sacampi a la Costiera it was so unique and seasoned to perfection. Everything was absolutely delicious. The service was on point and the server knew exactly how the food was prepared, and she knew the ingredients that were used. We could tell she was very knowledgeable and passionate about what they offered. My husband loves beer on tap and he said that the beer was exactly the temperature it should be, super chilled. This is our new go-to spot just around the corner from our house. In fact, we'll probably have it for dinner tonight! P.S. It took less than 1 hour for lunch. read more

Service: Lousy. Had a party of 11 for my wife's 50th birthday. Stopped by in advance to drop off cake and flowers. Told them how I wanted the table set up in the wine room, "no problem", they said. When we arrived nothing had been changed. Had to move the tables myself. Server was a young man (Garrison?) who was more interested in chatting with the hostess than clearing empty plates, did that myself as well. Had to track down a knife myself to cut the birthday cake. I NEVER leave less than 18%-20% gratuity and dine out several times a week. I left this guy 15% and should've left less. No management ever came by to check on us until we were walking out the door, wow. Very disappointed. Food: Okay. Tomato Soup was really sweet and thick, I think it was tomato sauce, not soup. Vegetables in the Italian Wedding Soup were raw and I mean completely uncooked AND there was a $1 upcharge for that selection which the server did not tell me about. So, paid an extra buck for crunch vegetable soup. Entrees were good, not great. I know Mr. Harrera and have eaten at his other restaurants for years (Alicia's, Dario's) and have almost always enjoyed them. This was our third visit to Marvino's and likely our last. Perhaps the Herreras are getting spread a little thin and top line revenues have become more important than quality and service. read more

Stopped by for a quick lunch. Great service, great Italian food in the cypress area. Very generous portions. Atmosphere was just right.

The service was amazing. Our waitress was very nice to me and my boyfriend. I really enjoyed myself. Although i have tasted better Italian food before, the atmosphere was very beautiful. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed my dining experience at Marvino's. I've only been there once, which is why I can't give it a higher rating, but I have to say, my first visit was above par. The carnivore in me is rarely impressed by salads but their Cesar salad is like no other I've ever had. The delectable dressing was beautifully balanced with the crisp lettuce...not one overpowered the other. For kicks, I had the eggplant Parmesan because this dish is usually hard to screw up. I was beyond surprised by how they got the texture and flavor right. Not too greasy, not over or undercooked. Pretty solid. Additionally, the service (which is usually a thorn in my ass when it's simply adequate, let alone flat out bad) was above average. My server's small errors weren't her fault as the restaurant is still overcoming opening glitches. The constant smile and willingness to do well made up for all of it. I will return and maybe enjoy a cocktail next time, along with a more complex meal to help me justify a 4 or 5 star review. Congrats to the establishment. Great job. read more

Went for lunch with a party of four on Sunday around 1pm. Business was slow, approximately 5 tables with customers. Our waiter seemed to hate his job. He never smiled, gave eye contact or attempted any casual conversation. We ordered shrimp bisque, chicken parm, lasagna, ravioli, kid pizza and got tiramisu and tuxedo cake for dessert. None of us were impressed with our food. It was bland and room temp. The chicken parm seemed like it had been sitting around under a poorly working heat lamp. The best dish was the kid pepperoni pizza. The desserts were pretty good but not $8 a slice good. One of the people in our party had been before and said her waiter was very rude as well. She thought it was an isolated incident, unfortunately this wasn't the case. This is obviously a management issue. I would suggest a complete overhaul of your management team, new chefs and immediate training for your staff. It was a complete waste of $88. I will never be back. read more

Not impressed by their food. Had the duck spring rolls as an appetizer, taste was not good. Lentil soup ok; chicken piccata no way. Staff was friendly and quick. read more

The food here was mediocre at best and not fresh on any level. The prices are high for what I consider a small portion compared to other similarly priced restaurants. We ordered a kids fettuccini Alfredo and it was barely enough to feed my 9 year old. We can usually split a kids meal between our two kids. My daughters both commented that the sauce was very watery both in texture and taste. My husband ordered the linguini with sausage and meatball. Again small portion, one meatball and a small link of sausage. The sauce was bland and there were stem pieces in the sauce. I ordered the mussels Marvino's and it was easily the worst mussels I've ever had. They were very chewy and tasted weird making the broth have an odd flavor as well. The manager came over and I decided to switch to just spaghetti and marinara sauce. Can't go wrong there right? Wrong! It had no flavor, like it was dumped out of a can and sent to our table. The bread they bring at the beginning is very good so maybe a table full of warm bread is the only way to go. That being said the food was extremely quick coming out (hence the lack of freshness). Our waiter was very friendly and the manager was kind and understanding as well. Unfortunate that the food doesn't match the service. read more

This is a great Italian restaurant. My wife had linguine with clams and clam sauce. She loved it and she isn't easy to please when it comes to her clams. She also had Lentil soup which she loved. The downside side is I will be eating more pasta. read more

Tried the restaurant for the first time with a group of 7 friends. We were seated after a short wait. We were not greeted by a server for an extended amount of time. It took approximately 90 mins from the time we sat down to the time we received our food. I ordered eggplant Parmesan and received chicken Parmesan (after our server verified my order before serving my dish). A couple of entrees were served to the wrong people at the table. Once I received the correct order, it was delish. It was a wonderful night out with friends but we were terribly disappointed in our experience. read more

Awful. Waited a long time for a table. When food eventually arrived (at least 45mins after ordering) it was cold and not very nice. When we informed our waitress she flounced off. I would have expected the sub standard meals to be taken off the bill but this was not offered. Not the level of service nor food I would expect from seasoned restauranteurs. Will not be going again not will I recommend. read more

We've waited 1 hr. 20 mins., and we're still waiting, after being told that we would be seated in 30 mins. Groups have walked past us, been seated, and finished their meals while we wait. They don't take reservations, so we are simply being bypassed. We have asked multiple times for an update, but we can't get a real answer. They just say they're "sorry". We enjoy the food, but we will not be back. I will also warn others that there is a real 'policy issue' in regard to searing guests. Disappointing, to say the least! read more

My husband and I have lived here for a couple of years and this was our first time to try Marvino's. Let me start on a positive note, even though we came in late, close to their closing time, we were getting food to go and service was relatively good and prompt, but there were not that many patrons inside at the time so I'd say that this could be the reason for prompt service, if I omit benefit of the doubt. The reason we decided to give it a try is that they're opened late and we were on our way to the airport to pick up a family member visiting from Boston. Choice of food on our side was a bad idea considering that Boston probably has some of the best American-Italian restaurants and food in the U.S, I guess it would have been a better idea to offer and impress our guests with some of the much better Texas culinary staples. Now the negative, let me say that all of us who ate the food had the same opinion. The food was, to say the least mediocre, that any self taught home "chef" can outdo by far. These are the menu items that we have chosen and they're pretty basic meals to create: Fried Calamari, Chicken Parm, Veal Parm and Lasagna, each entree came with a soup and there were three options to choose from. Calamari were to rubbery and with too much breading, Chicken Parm dry and hard with about half an inch of breading on either side, Veal Parm not tenderized and full of gristle and just like the chicken half an inch of breading on each side, Lasagna was under cooked, for the soup I'd say that Campbell's tastes better cold out of the can. It is not my intention to skew the graph of Marvino's business in a negative, but even though we came in late and we are first time customers I think that they should be consistent with their food and if that was what their food tastes like I would not recommend this place to anyone who cares for Italian food. read more

Been wanting to try Marvinos for a while. Finally tried it last night. 25 minute Waite for a table for 3. That's to be expected on a Friday night at 7:30 pm. Was first presented with heavenly oven warmed Italian bread with a wonderful olive oil and herb dipping oil. I'm feeling real good at this point. The calamari appetizer was prepared to perfection. The house salad was acceptable. Your basic oil and vinegar dressing generously mixed with crumbled feta cheese. We had the lasagna, the cioppino and the daily special, osso bucco. The osso bucco was excellent. Ok here comes the bad. The lasagna was a big disappointment. I expected much better in fact, I've had better from the frozen section at the grocery store. I had the cioppino. I'm Italian and I 'very had chopping many times. It's one of my favorites. The cioppino here was TERRIBLE! It was watery and had absolutely no flavor. I'm talking dish water. If you don't know how to prepare cioppino than take it off the menu. That was a $25 bowl of disappointment. read more
