The staff seems friendly enough and act like they want to please...and do try. Yet the food leaves something to be desired. We went during Restaraunt week and chose from the preset menu. Course one was a ravioli dish that was severely undercooked. I like al dente but this was still hard and chewy. This was true for all our pasta dishes. Next, I asked for light dressing and if that was light I'd hate to see normal. And for my main course, I had the beef medallions 'cooked to perfection' which means well done I guess... also the meat was a little meaty tasting if that makes sense and I was unsure what cut it came from considering there was a big piece of gristle running throughout the two small pieces. I felt bad and gave it to my boyfriend to eat while stealing a little of his chicken dish.. which wasn't to die for but rather bland. The bread pudding was recommended but since it was RW and they was 3 options and 3 adults we went with one of each. Needless to say, I do not recommend the bread pudding. The cream brûlée was average and the Tiramisu was good....enough. Nice try but not an A plus dinning experience. Would only recommend if the wait time at neighboring restaurants is too long and you're starving. read more

We ordered the Calamari, Red Snapper, and Shrimp Fettachini Alfredo. Alll was good but the Shrimp Fettachini Alfredo was ok. The shrimp was not cleaned very good and as I was eating the shrimp it was gritty and sandy as I was eating. I checked a few other shrimps and found more that were dirty so basically ate the Fettachini only and left the shrimp. The plate did have a lot of shrimp which I was surprised. They did ask if I wanted something else but I declined because of the wait time of having to wait for another plate as my was is eating. The service was excellent by Daniel. I told him the issue and he said he was sorry, I also told another gentleman and I think he was the manager as he was going around asking how everything was. I told him did not another dish as they offered but I was thinking and wanting to see what else would be done. Maybe a discount on my plate or free plate but no. So this why I rate a 3 star. We had our rehearsal dinner here and it was the perfect place for us. Kristen did a great job of organizing this event for us. She was so quick to respond to email and arranged for a food tasting. We ended up choosing the duck ravioli, beef bisteca and salmon. My favorite was the praline cheesecake (it's less dense than traditional cheesecake which is what I prefer). I highly recommend this restaurant especially for group events. They have several types of rooms to host big parties and we had the upstairs room that overlooks the restaurant. We were sat in a corner booth the waiter took forever to take our drink order and didn't even ask if we wanted an appetizer. The guy completely ignored us the whole time. When our food finally came after 30min and he literally just sat our food on our table and walked off with out looking at us or asking if we needed parmesan.. it would have been different if the restaurant was busy but it wasn't even busy. We went to Marvinos for my mother's birthday and we loved it. The service was great. Our waiter was super attentive, and patiently answering all the thousands of questions my family kept asking (If you knew them, you'd understand how it can be irritating ). The food was great. I had the chicken marsala and it was delicious, plus the portions were pretty big. It wasn't bland like some other restaurants, and the rest of my family loved their meals. Worst service ever! Salad was hot! Had to sit a the bar because got tired of waiting for a table that took way over an hour! Then they finally text us that are table was ready, but the if you don't respond in 5 minutes, too bad... they move to the next person on the list. Beautiful restaurant, but poor service! Stupid inexperience teens that are taking your orders and failing terribly! Owner was hiding in the kitchen because he did not want to listen to any complaints! Finally...my family and I went to marvinos to celebrate my sons birthday. Sadly...we were a little dissapointed. We went for an early dinner on sunday...around 4pm. The restaurant was about 1/3 full. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and I was really excited...I was expecting a wonderfully meal and experience. To he honest the watress hardly spoke to us...I had to ask her what the soup of the day was and so on. Also...I had to ask for extra ceasar dressing...I don't think there was any dressing on my salad!! We paid $100 for our meal (2 adults and our 3 kids). Not worth it!! My food was average! The two stars are only because of the service. While the food was excellent, it took over 3 hours for our meal on a Wednesday evening. We arrived at 7 with our entire party of 9. We finally received water after about 20 minutes and our appetizer (which we ordered along with our meals when we finally received our water) after another 20 minutes. Salads appeared finally at 8, entrees at approximately 8:45. Even though we ordered coffee after we completed our entrees, they were not served until the desserts were served - another 20 minute wait. Never were we offered a refill on water or coffee. The tea was refilled once. We had to repeatedly flag our waitress down to get service and she did not check to see if our meal was satisfactory. At no time did we delay ordering by requesting additional time. So, the moral is, if you want a VERY leisurely dinner, this is the place to go. The other reviews are correct about the atmosphere and the food. You just need to eat something before you go so you don't starve to death waiting for your orders. read more

Overall the food was very good. This was our first visit, but we had heard from several of our friends that the food was good, but that the wait staff needed improvement. We agree. Our waiter appeared to only listen to about half of what we were asking of him. He seemed pre-occupied with some of the other tables. We were a party of six. However the senior management staff were all exceptional, friendly, and were concerned about our dining experience. One of our party members ordered desert, but when it arrived it was not what what he was expecting. We were going to just let it go and not say anything, but one of the party members mentioned it to a senior manager and he immediately replaced the dessert with one more suitable. This was not expected, but made us pleased he thought enough to ask. When our server cleared the table, he could clearly see that the desert only had one or 2 bites taken from it, but never asked if something was wrong. Some of the menu items were under seasoned (the Alfredo sauce was rather bland, as was the vodka cream sauce). The meatballs, sausage and the red sauce was really delightful and flavorful. The veal parmesan and the veal marsala were tender, but slightly bland, needing salt and pepper. Our waiter never asked about bread refills, or included a drink napkin under any of the mixed drinks, water or tea. On more than one occasion we had to ask for more ice in the iced tea. The wine and mixed drinks were flavorful, and cold. We will return, and hope that the server will be a little more attentive. The inside of the restaurant very nicely decorated, lit very nicely, but a bit on the noisy side. Still we could hold a conversation and speak in normal tones without yelling. Overall the food was done pretty well, but the service (table side) needed improvement. I did not tip as well as I usually do (18% - 22%), instead giving a lower amount. read more

My family decided to come here for my birthday dinner. Monday night, no crowd, so that's a positive. I had a Cesar salad, seafood tortellini, and shrimp risotto. Everything was ok, though the risotto was a tad undercooked and slightly too salty. My husband had chicken Alfredo, which he said the grilled chicken left everything with that char flavor. My daughter had the kids pizza, which she didn't like; my husband ate a piece and for thin crust, it was very greasy. For dessert we got the chocolate cake (drier than it should've been, but the icing and ganache were good), the crem brulee (perfect crust, but the inside was a broken custard), and the praline cheesecake, which my husband said was very good. The service was great, ave very attentive. Overall, it's slightly expensive, and the food is hit or miss. We'll try it again just to make sure, but it probably won't become a regular restaurant for us. read more

Moved to Cypress Creek Lakes about a year and half ago from New Jersey. We were thrilled to hear about Marvino's opening as Italian food options in Cypress are extremely limited. We ate here about one week after it opened and were satisfied. It wasn't like back home, but, not much is. We decided to return about a month later and found that the food quality had drastically declined. We hadn't been back since... which leaves us at yesterday when we decide (against our better judgement) to try it again. I ordered the duck and mushroom raviolis. What arrived at the table was a plate of dried out, rock solid, green squares of disgustingness. I stuck my fork into one, which required a rather large amount of effort, and went for it. I had to at least try it, right? At this point I was expecting something terrible. And Marvino's finally delivered. I could attempt to explain what it was like powering through that one ravioli but I think the best way to describe it would be to freeze one for about a month, throw it right into a microwave, overheat it to the point where it's completely dried out, and then let it sit under a heat lamp for 10 minutes. I slid the plate away and the server pretty much knew what was going on. I'm sure he'd been witness to this travesty before. He politely offered to bring us the check. We also ordered chicken parm. It was edible, sort of. The service was fine. But the food was so bad that I couldn't give the review any more than 1 star. read more

I'm not sure if it is just because I have been unlucky but the last time that I went with a friend we had the RUDEST waiter! He was so aggressive with everything (flinging the plate of bread on the table, splashing out beverages all over the table) we ended up leaving. We did speak to a manager and he offered to move us but we just felt very disrespected. read more

We have dined at Marvino's on a number of occasions, not sure we will return however. This is a nice facility but the food and service are inconsistent. We have had great service and other times left to our own, having to get up to locate the service staff on one occasion. The food preparation is inconsistent, either cannot follow the recipes or do not have them. The food is average and could be better, but there is not too much competition in the area for Italian food. Last evening, a table of foul mouthed patrons disrupted our dinner and a number of other diners, with vulgar language and shouting at across the table. Numerous F bombs and other language that would make a longshoreman blush. At least two families with small children rushed through their meals to leave. Commented to the server about the vulgarity, but I do not believe they contacted the manager on duty. Other wait staff noticed as well but no management stopped to speak with us or to attempt to quiet the loud table. I approached and spoke to the MODs when we were leaving about the disruption, they looked surprised. The management team needs to learn how to address and deal with unruly customers. Perhaps stop serving alcohol when someone is already inebriated would be a good start. If Marvino's continues to allow that type of behavior, I do not recommend dining at this restaurant with small children. read more

I've been here twice, the portions are huge! And the look of the restaurant is nice, i like how they walk around with the dessert car. On the other hand if you're looking for authentic Italian food this isn't really the place go. My visits here have been "ok" visits, the service is so-so and the food somewhat tasteless. On both occasions I've had pasta and i honestly think they use way to much sauce. The food and service were both exceptional! We had fried zucchini as an appetizer which was served with marinara sauce that was delicious! They also give you bread with olive oil and the choice of soup or salad that were all very good! I had a caesar salad and my family tried the soup and both were tasty! For dinner I had chicken Marsala an contrary to some of the previous reviews on here I thought it was delicious! My only critique is that it had a lot of sun dried tomatoes on the chicken and I felt like it would be better with less. I love sun dried tomatoes so this didn't bother me but I could see how someone would not enjoy it because they do put a large amount of them on the chicken. My family also ordered a crab pasta dish and a veal pasta dish that were both very tasty as well. For dessert we ordered a tuxedo chocolate cake that had both chocolate and white chocolate mousse and it was very good and large enough to easily split between 3 people. My mother had the seafood linguine and I had the seafood risotto and both were runny and some of the shrimp undercooked. The mussels still had sand in them. We also tried the mushroom ravioli that was very dry and un-flavorful. Of the 3 dishes we tried, all three were not good and we will not be going back. Worst dining experience my wife, daughter and I have ever had. My daughter was visiting us for the weekend and she had never eaten at Marvino's, so we decided to treat her to a new restaurant. My wife and I had eaten at Marvino's once before and had a good experience. Not tonight. Service was very, very slow. We had a 7:00pm reservation, didn't get our food until 8:10pm. And when we got our food the steaks were under cooked, we wanted our steaks cooked medium and they came out blood red. And to top it off, my daughter was missing the vegetable she order. We had to ask a couple of times to get the vegetable. And by the time she received the vegetable she was already done with her steak. We have had better service and food at the Outback. The manager came over and we explained our frustrations. He took the vegetable off the tab, could have done more for us. Our waitress told us that unfortunately the poor service happens a lot because they have a new chef and are changing the menu. Not something you want to be telling customers, that the restaurant has poor service complaints. Long and the short, will never be back to this restaurant, this was a horrendous dining experience. will go to the Outback, Texas Roadhouse or Saltgrass before trying this restaurant again. Funny thing is, my wife and I had dinner at Darios this past week, same owners of Marvino's, and the service and food was top notch. They should have whoever is managing Dario's manage Marvino's also. Maybe that person can turn Marvino's around. And I gave this only 1 star because I had to rate it somehow. I have been to Marvino's 3 times in the past month for various occasions in various size parties. I've had 3 different waiters and they have all been very good. Seem that each visit they are just better and better. Today we had Mahi. Can not say enough good things about him. He offered to let us sample items that we wwre unsure of (soup of the day for example). The portions are quite substantial for the price. Many excellent lunch values. Recently had my son's wedding rehearsal dinner in the upstairs private room. It was amazing! I had looked at several places before falling in love with this room. We had 30 people and it was the perfect size. To make it even more perfect, the food was absolutely delicious! I had the Chicken Marvino. Yummy! The staff was gracious and very accommodating. They even helped us take our decorations out to the car. Eric, the manager was very professional yet also personable. I called ahead for reservations and was told I needed 8 people to make a reservation. I only had 6 at the time, so I rounded up 2 more people and called back to make the reservation to then be lied to and told I had to have 10 people and when I questioned her about the previous call where she had told me 8 people she then tells me she was mistaken and they didn't take reservations at all. I asked to speak to a manager and she hung up on me, I called back and of course someone else answered and started telling me that I hadn't been hung up on and that the girl was mistaken because they don't take reservations. He also began to tell me that I needed to get some Christmas spirit because I wasn't being very nice. Long story short we ended up with 10 people and I had my friend call them and make a reservation which they excepted without hesitation. Even though their food is good for the most part I would have a hard time going back and my friends agree for the following service issues. We were seated without napkins or silverware, bread was brought to the table but when we asked for some oil we got the oil but then they were out of bread. We had to ask for everything several times including the place settings. This is our fourth and last Christmas Eve we will be going here. The 4 extra guests we brought with us were first time visitors and won't be going back. read more

Horrible service. My husband and I went here for my birthday and waited a few minutes just to be seen by the hostess, who only said "follow me" once we told her we had 2 people. We sat and had to wait about 5 minutes before getting to talk to anyone and that was only because a manager walked by. The waitress probably came to our table twice and that was to ask what we wanted and to bring our appetizer. We got a bottle of wine and spinach dip to start. The spinach artichoke dip was good, thus the one star. We ordered, got our salads within good timing, but then waited close to 30 minutes with no entree. The server never came by so we finally told the manager to cancel the entree and that we would pay for the rest. The server then conveniently brought our food out in to-go boxes just as the manager came to apologize. Will never come back here. read more

Our first time to eat here. We got calamari for an appetizer, minestrone soup and Cesar salad to start. Bread also came out...everything was very good and appropriate temperature. One thing I loved is that they don't oversauce their food. For entree we had chicken Marsala and pork chop with mint demi glacé. Sides were sautéed spinach, polenta and fettuccine alfredo. Everything was served with perfect timing, portions were very good sized. I had to take part of mine home. They packed up my food for me. Offered us dessert, we knew we weren't going to get anything but we asked what was available. Our waiter, Augustino, who was amazing btw...said it was something we needed to see. When he brought it out I started laughing. Best dessert cart I've ever seen!!! We will definitely be back to try dessert and coffee. The only negative was that we sat next to a table of people who obviously couldn't consume liquor without being ridiculously loud...I am all for a good time, but if you have to start yelling to hear yourself...you've probably had too much. This is nothing to do with the restaurant...just people Overall the experience was great and we will be back.
