First time to try Marvino's and ordered through door dash. Fettuccini Alfredo was ok but bland and the sauce was thick like pancake batter. The lasagna was very meaty but not very cheesy. The main flavor was salt. It didn't taste like any lasagna I've ever had. I also tried the calamari. Unfortunately, it wasn't edible. The flavor was ok but bland, but the calamari itself was chewy like rubber bands. No matter how much I chewed it, I couldn't chew it up enough to swallow it. I should have just thrown a $10 bill away. I ordered the soup of the day with the lasagna. I don't know what the soup was. It tasted like meat ravioli processed in a food processor. The consistency was thick like a pudding and had what I think was pieces of chicken? The flavor was ok, but consistency was pudding, so overall not appetizing. Wasted money. I'm not inclined to give them another try because I've read other negative reviews about food and service. Just thought I'd try at home and skip the service. There are other much better Italian restaurants in the area that charge less!!! read more

I placed an order for Christmas dinner which was supposed to be ready at 6pm. The order was placed over six hours in advance. I arrived around 5:45pm and it wasn't ready over an hour later they begin making the meals... That's ridiculous. I understand Christmas tjme is busy but you had six hour notice to prepare four things. I wonder how long your dine in guests had to wait. This is my first time trying this restaurant and I won't be back unless the food is spectacular. read more

This was mine and my friends first time here. I would always drive by it when I am out in this area and today I actually had time to stop and try it out. I live in Bellaire and this has to have been the worst service we have experienced. First of all we were the only 2 African American females in here around 5:30 pm that we saw. Our waitress Martha was so not attentive to us. The tables before us she came by multiple times to ask if they needed anything, gave refills on drinks and even the dessert tray. We had to keep flagging her down each time she came to the other tables to bring them refills and whatever else they needed. They were 2 hispanic ladies at one table and then a white lady and man couple. I told my friend that it must have been a reason why I never had time to stop due to the bad service. If I would have known this we would have waited until we got back to Bellaire and went to one of our many favorite spots to eat. Where we get excellent service!!! I had told many clients about wanting to try this place but after tonight I have told them how the service was and they said maybe if I was with you wonder if we would have gotten better service because we are white.... Not sure but we will not go here again!!! read more

Food was good. Went there on a Saturday night they seemed to be short staffed so the wait for ordering, food was quite long. Overall the food was good and came out hot enough for me to grade them four stars on this visit. read more

Went Friday night and there was a mix up for our seating (called the day before and made a reservation) they said they do not take reservations???? The white haired man on duty was not very empathetic, he was like who did you speak to??? While waiting the girls who check you in were like you need to wait some where else while we sit our other customers. They were like we were inconviencing them or something. Any way the folks from Alicia jumped in and tried to make it work for us. The food was not very good. There was no flavor. The salad had an after taste. Our waiter was nice but did not get our drinks refilled timely , our food did not come out as exactly ordered. Not really sure if we paid the right amount...they put the bill together for all 16 of us...so some were trying to pay and separate the bill. It was pretty confusing. Very disappointed. We really enjoy Alicia's but will not retun to Marvino's. read more

We really tried to give the benefit of the doubt but........I'm surprised this place was even open. The waitstaff had no training, the food was basically off the Darios menu, not much Italian. Pretty big disappointment. We have been Darios goers for years, this is a mistake. read more

Let me make this short. 2 pregnant women and a toddler walk into Marvino's at 6pm to a 40 minute wait. 4 hours later they walk out without eating dinner. I will not mention the bad decisions made by the representatives, but it was single handedly the worst dining experience of my life. read more

The service was terrible and it was a low crowd Sunday evening. We got bread and oil, but no plates and no drinks. FINALLY, the original waitress came when I flagged her down. She said we were now getting a new waitress and she would get us plates. Very nice since she should have done that before she passed us off. Eventually our drinks came with the new waitress. Then the food came and it was very good. Mine was Chicken Marvino. She asked if we wanted dessert. We made the fatal mistake of saying "yes". We waited 10 minutes to SEE the desserts because someone else had the cart. FOR 10 MINUTES? We ordered and waited another 10 minutes for it to come. When I asked her why the delay this time, the waitress said it was waiting for her to come get it. NO KIDDING. We ordered a white cake with strawberries on it that was not fresh and not exciting. Grotto's has nothing to worry about. 20 minutes waiting for a subpar dessert. I felt like we spent most of our time looking at the kitchen wondering where food and plates were. This could be a good restaurant, but who has time to wait for the wait staff to finally get around to serving their customers properly? I noticed what looked like a manager standing talking to someone who apparently was happy and drinking wine. So glad he was concerned about them. read more

This was our second dining experience at Marvino's. We have had mostly good experiences at the other restaurants owned by the same family - Dario's and Alicia's. But Marvino's service seems to miss the mark during our visit tonight. We were seated at a very tight corner table next to the servers station. This seemed like an odd spot for a table, but that was all they could offer (or a blessing since we had to serve ourselves water). This was an omen. The service was not good at all. We had to get our own refills for water and tea. Our waiter checked to see how we are were doing after 40 minutes of waiting on our food. My response is "not doing too well since we haven't been served our meal". Once our meals arrive we had to send one, a pizza, back because it was not hot. They did get the second pizza out to our table in about 10 minutes. I ordered the pork chop which was average tasting ( I would not recommend) and our daughter had spaghetti and meatball which she enjoyed. My husband did like the pizza and it was piping hot. Too bad the kitchen didn't get that one right the first time. Waiter did come out and mumbled a mediocre apology and of course blamed the kitchen on the slow service. Never saw a manager once. Maybe he was helping other diners other than the ones that were relegated to the loser table in the corner. read more

The food was great, and the prices were still reasonable. The menu had a wide variety, not just the basic Italian food you see at most restaurants. Sometimes they have a long wait, but it is worth it. I liked the atmosphere of the restaurant too, very classy, and the staff was very nice too! read more

Too bad I can't give zero stars. This was the one of the absolute worst dining experiences I've ever had. The only bright part was our server. This was an important family dinner and all the pasta dishes we ordered were overcooked and tasteless. The seafood was just as bad. The soup was good but overly salty and the salad wasn't any better. The wines we ordered were terrible. We were even given a complementary glass and was the worst wine I've tasted in years. The bread basket at the beginning of the meal was stale and wasn't worth the zero dollars we paid for it. The dessert tasted like a cheap store bought crust and the blackberries actually hurt to eat. The meal was terrible but got worse when it came time to pay. Ultimately we ordered 3 lemonades, a soup, salad and 1 meal, it still ended up being $60. The manager was extremely rude and dismissive. I was beyond unimpressed and will NEVER eat here again!!! read more

The pizza was amazing, not anything I am used to since I am from New York. Unfortunately I will not be returning since the service was atrocious. My husband and I wanted to try and support our neighborhood restaurant, a not so often option since we have 3 kids and don't get out ourselves much. It was our anniversary, we sat at the bar and for 10-15 minutes we were told once someone would be right with us. Finally someone took our drink order, the bartender tried to upsell my recovering husband to add vodka or tequila to his iced tea. I believe we are old and wise enough to know that if he wanted alcohol he would have ordered it. We got our drinks and proceeded to wait at least 20 more minutes until I finally had to tell a manager that no one had asked for our food order. The food was great, service was an EPIC FAILURE. read more

Went for lunch and thought the lunch pricing was very reasonable. The food was good and the wait staff was attentive for refills. The only thing I think they can improve is the description in the menu. I do not eat greens and it was not clear and wish I could have known and when I was surprised and mentioned it, she did not offer a different vegetable. I think that would have made me very happy since it was left to waste. I will certainly try them again as the food was very tasty! Make sure you ask for all sides when ordering! read more

My friend and I went here to eat on 10-12-2015, we both order fettuccine with chicken and salad. The salad was very good then we received our fettuccine. My friend was eating hers and said what is this? I said what? There was 2 pieces of wire in her mouth. We called the waiter over and he got Manager. The manager looked at wire and I said what is it? He replied with, it's from the brush we clean the grill with. First of all I did not say much, I just could not believe it. I feel they should use something else to clean grill for this is very dangerous I have learned. All the manager did was apologize and replaced her meal. I think they should be more concerned with the safety of their customers! At the end of evening they did not even comp her food. read more

Ordered the eggplant Parmesan, came with side of pasta and Cesar salad. Eggplant Parmesan appeared to be packaged and over-baked, pasta was not served al dente (#1 rule for true Italian eateries) and was heavily covered with in sauce and Cesar salad was drenched in dressing. Service was excellent! read more

Finally a high quality Italian restaurant available in Cypress! It's been a long time coming, and definitely worth the wait! The atmosphere is exquisite, with an inviting open entry that gives you a quick glance of the tasteful, elegance that awaits you. The seating allows for comfortable tables, to a beautiful wood bar that circles the center of the room, a glassed wine room, to a large comfortable half circle booths sitting 6-8, and "for two," cozy booths that give you a feeling privacy and being in an Italian grotto. There is much more than the eye captures initially. My first time there I was curious, looking around, trying to catch glimpses of other areas of the restaurant, other than where we were seated. With it not being busy, as we arrived for an early lunch, our waitress offered to take us on a tour. She started the tour by taking us through French doors that opened into a bright and roomy sun room, looking out to the patio, the sun room allows seating for approximately 30 guests. Perfect for a shower, or a business luncheon. Just off the sun room is a large, inviting covered patio with misters to keep you refreshed in the hot weather, and thermal heaters and a fireplace to tame the chill during colder weather. A loft type area above the main seating is a room perfect to host larger parties, such a company party or large birthday celebration, seating approximately 159 people. This room features a tinted glass which overlooks the entire restaurant. Atmosphere is really important to me to enjoying the overall dining experience. That is why I went on about the décor and other highlights of the restaurant layout. I am happy to say my entre'e' rounded out my total experience and dessert was just the icing on the cake! The beverages are numerous, offering a selection of specialty drinks, wide range of wine selections, and sweet tea and sodas. From a generous portion of everyone's favorite, lasagna accompanied with your choice of soup or salad. Steaks and seafood specialties are among their signature dishes . They were accommodating to special requests. Generous size portions, all served with delicious cheese flatbread, hard-crusted breads, oil and Italian spices for dipping. The servers were courteous, friendly and efficient. The dessert cart is a wonderful end to your perfect and delicious entre'e; or to take a dessert home. I have stopped by for dessert and coffee when in the mood for a special treat!! Thank you for the opportunity to share my total dining experience at Marvino's. I look forward to future visits to Marvinos' and trying other entre'es and desserts and sharing my experience. kway read more

Great food! have been there a few times. Tried the Alfredo is delicious, Calamari is crisp to perfection and their tiramisu is tasty! Service is slow, they need either more kitchen staff or more wait staff; but overall great food. Be prepared to wait just like anywhere else, during peek hours! Great to have this place in Cypress! read more

CHECK YOUR BILL The restaurant is decorated very nicely and the waiter was very courteous. We watched as other people that came in after us, were served. At least half of our party were disappointed with the meal they received. One person had to send the food back because her order was wrong and another ended up not eating any of her dinner items. My food was good but the bill brought some surprises so be sure and check your bill carefully. One friend was charged separately for her salmon salad...a charge for the surprisingly small salad and $20 for a small amount of salmon on the salad. They did adjust the bill after it was brought to their attention. I shared a wedge salad with my friend and asked if they would just simply cut the wedge in half so we could share. Much to my surprise, they charged me $3 to make a single cut in lettuce. They would not adjust that charge. ( Tip: If you're sharing with someone, cut it in half yourself.) I think the restaurant has a few kinks to work out before I would want to come back. read more

Really enjoyed the food and their seafood is really great. We've been many times, they had a rough patch in the beginning as far as organization but I think they worked out all the bugs. There wine selection is very impressive . read more

We won't return, we've always had great food here, so we were surprised at the quality and taste for our dishes. I ordered the Salmon over polenta with shrimp, so salty it was inedible and tiny frozen/thawed shrimp, this is not the same dish I've always had and loved. Daughters cannoli tasted frozen/reheated, lasagna was same. Had to send my white wine back, tasted like vinegar and salt, choose another place to eat. read more

Excellent Caesar salad and chicken piccata! Loved the atmosphere. This is an impressive restaurant, especially considering it is locally owned and operated. Beautiful interior, menu has broad selections, and wait staff was superb. The manager, Eric, came by our table to ensure all was good. Will defintely return and highly recommend! read more

Sometimes a restaurant just has a bad day, and yesterday, July 17, was it at Marvino's for me. I had eaten at Marvino's twice before and it was good, not write home about great, but good, so I took my family for a birthday celebration yesterday. My son-in-law and I had the veal cannelloni which came out slightly warm. Almost sent it back to be heated. I can best describe it as almost tasteless. Glad it was described as "veal" since there was no evidence of any. My daughter had the veal scallopini which she said had more coating than meat. My wife described her eggplant parmesan as disappointing, eggplant under cooked. Only reason for the two stars rather than one, was an absolutely delightful server, Sharon, which made the meal enjoyable even if the food wasn't. Sorry for such a poor review, but four disappointing meals was a complete and unexpected surprise. read more

Excellent EVERYTHING! The manager is very accommodating and even went to the back to get copy paper with highlighters to keep my son entertained. The food is the BEST Italian for an outside-of-Houston experience and we try to make in twice a month. Good wine selection and fair prices. read more

My hubby and I were looking for somewhere new to try and we decided on Marvinos. I was a little nervous as I had read some previous reviews about staff not being the greatest and food not tasting the best but let me tell you I am SO GLAD we gave them a try. The waitress we had was super friendly I wish I could remember her name to give her a shoutout! She was very knowledgeable with the Menu and always had a smile on her face. Oh and the food was amazing. We both ordered the chicken parmesan and had their soup of the day and both were incredibly delicious. I encourage everyone to give this place a try. It definitely did not disappoint!! read more

Great service, food was delicious, and it was perfect for our occasion. Definitely will come back.

Nicely decorated place, nice large bar area but the service is slow and the food is the pits. The bread brought to the table was not warm, no bread plates provided, calimari were way over fried and rubbery, tough. The worst veal parm I have aver had at any Italian restaurant, it was leathery and definitely not a real home made style. Likely purchased frozen from a food service company. No manger ever came around. Overall a big disappointment, cannot recommend and will not go back. read more

I have to say I am very disappointed in how our first experience turned out. We were really looking forward to a new restaurant out in Cypress so my husband and I decided to take our three boys to dinner at Marvino's and try it out. We have really enjoyed the other affiliates in the area and figured this would be another hit. We just got home from our first meal (and probably our last) at Marvino's. Today is Wednesday - it's not a Friday or Saturday or holiday weekend. We were told the wait would be 20-30 minutes and after an hour we became irritated. They tried to squeeze the 5 of us in at a 4-top booth but we didn't fit so we opted to wait a little longer so our kids weren't trying to kill each other during the meal. I am glad we decided to wait because the waiting after we sat down at our new table was excruciating. We asked multiple times for the waitress to bring us water and bread and by that point our kids were beyond starving. We ordered our meals as soon as we sat down and 45 minutes later they came out. The food was mediocre - nothing to rave about - and the three hours we spent at Marvino's would have been better spent at home with take out. I am disappointed this didn't work out but I will not be taking my kids or business back. read more

We have eaten at Marvino's a number of times, and we've taken our office staff of 15 there 2 times, the second as their choice. We've invited others to meet us there, and they liked it too. We enjoy a lovely restaurant, and Marvino's is. The bread and olive oil that comes out is great. I'd add some garlic, but I'd always add garlic. The almondine trout is huge and delicious. The shrimp scampi with jalapeno pasta is so good. It's flavorful, not hot at all. The shrimp and salmon cakes are great. Others have tried just about everything on the menu, and I've not heard anyone who was disappointed so far. They also have great iced tea and cocktails. The food is reasonably priced, considering the quality and portions. They make their food, it doesn't come pre-frozen to be heated. Eric, the manager, is very accessible. Sometimes the music is a bit loud, but they will turn it down if you ask. Service was slow to start, but they keep improving, as most new restaurants do. All their staff has a good attitude, and dining there is a pleasure. We plan to continue dining there frequently. I agree with some others, this is another successful restaurant in the family with Dario's and Alicia's. read more

We decided to try Marvino's out for my Dad's birthday. The service was awful. Super slow. We had to ask repeatedly for menus and glasses of water. It took about 20 minutes of waiting around before the actual waiter stopped by our table. The waiter didn't know much about the menu. Didn't know at all about the wine menu and kept on saying every bottle of wine we wanted was out. We got shoved into a corner table that the waiter couldn't even get to. It was under an air conditioning unit that was soo cold that the table next to us tried to open the patio doors to get some normal air into the room. The manager never came to check on us. The worst part, my dad got the wrong order and the server didn't do anything about it when we told him. The server instead said, well this is a larger and better dish then what you actually ordered so just eat it. My dad was so hungry after waiting over an hour for our food, that he decided not to argue and just eat it b/c was worried he'd have to wait another 30 to 60 minutes for his fixed dish to come out. And the food was bland with no flavor. It' a shame that the food and the service is subpar. After spending well over $150 for 4, we walked out disappointed. If the server or a manager actually made an effort to correct the wrong dish or give a discount instead of acting like they didn't care what happened, I probably would give this place a second chance. Instead, I'm now telling all my friends to avoid this restaurant. The food and service at Dario's is much much better. read more

loud, poor service, and average food at best...if you can't cook then load it with spices seems to be the norm...

My close friend and I ate at Marvinos last week. We ordered salads. Her Marvinos Italian salad was close to void of the meat that was the highlight of the salad. She asked the waiter if he could bring a bit more meat as the salad was disappointing. He gladly did. When we received the check she had been charged over $3.00 dollars for the asked for ingredient. We were of course stunned. The manager came to speak to us. He was very nice but did let us know that extra ingredients incur an extra cost. The fact that the salad was not properly made I guess went over his head. We informed him of this fact once more plus the issue of the waiter not letting my friend know that an extra charge would be place d on the bill. What was a bit insulting was the comment from the manager that he would let it go this time but we needed to be aware of the fact that add ons are chargeable.. Once again, the salad was NOT made properly. The food was allright but nothing to rave about. I will go to Carrabas next time. When you are not happy with your food they FIX it. Not charge you! Oh by the way, coffee is overly priced. read more
