The service was horrible. We waited for over 45 minutes for them to get our order right after bringing out the wrong items to our table 3 times!!! How many times can you say Wedge Salad????? And - after the long wait only to sample ice cold food. When the "district manager" finally made his way over to hear our concerns... it was useless. He made no attempt to rectify the situation. The calamari tasted as if it came from a box. It's clear they devoted more time to the look of the establishment and not on the flavor of the food or the service. The thing I like about the place the most is that it can be a venue you use for a plethora of events like a birthday party, business meeting, family outing, or romantic date. The food is nice and hot. The menu offers a variety of Italian options including different choices like steak and shrimp. I ordered the lasagna and had a glass of red wine which was great! I plan to patron Marvino's on a more regular basis. I am glad that Cypress is adding more full service restaurants where my wife and I can have a date! read more

I am a huge fan of Olive Garden and Carrabba's and this place makes me never want to go back! The service was amazing and we went right after I'm guessing prom so they were really busy but we didn't have to wait for our drinks to be refilled and we didn't have to wait too long for our appetizer. We got the fried mozzarella sticks. It came with four huge (looked like) hand battered Mozzarella stick. And the marinara sauce was delicious. Then we had our side salad come out. And the dressing I got was so good I believe mine was Italian dressing. And my husband got ranch dressing and it was delicious as well. My husband ordered the Parmesan chicken and it comes with a little bit of spaghetti and both were bomb. Definitely tasted homemade. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and it tasted amazing as well. I love this place. I will probably never go back to Olive Garden again. We got an appetizer, two entrées, bread, salad, and a slice of strawberry cheesecake for 53$ including two sodas. Excellent food. Some of the other reviewers have griped about poor service, but our server was quick and attentive. But did I mention that the food was excellent? I had the cioppino and my husband had the Chicken Marvino. Both very good, and generous portions, too. Haven't been to Marvino's for 4 or 5 years but since it was Sunday and a lot of the other Italian restaurants are closed, we decided to try it again. Big mistake. There were 4 in our party and the table was set for 2. The waitress came by, gave us the drink menu, took our drink order and left. Bread was brought to the table but we didn't have enough plates or silverware. After waiting for about 5 minutes, we just took the items we needed off the table next to us. After another 5 minutes, I went to the hostess stand and asked for menus since our waitress had disappeared. Still no drinks. A full 20 minutes later my very irate and thirsty husband found the manager and told him we wanted our drinks now or we were on our way. Miraculously 3 of us got our drinks, all except for my husband's Corona. (I told him they were punishing him for complaining.) It eventually came but this was the story the entire evening. The food was alright but nothing that I would crave to come back for again. My daughter ordered a second glass of wine 3 times before it was finally delivered. All in all we were there for a good 2-1/2 hours and the majority of that time was spent waiting. Will definitely not be going back. read more

Very disappointed tonight. Juan was our waiter.Was young, but seemed to know the menu well. Offered us salads that were included with the meal-listed wedge, caprese-I interrupted and asked if those were included, because as a frequent diner of other restaurants, that was surprising to me. He said:"oh, with a small up -charge", and on further questioning he said $1 or $2. The up-charge for the wedge was $3.50. Sorry, but that's not an 'included salad'. Good thing I said no to the caprese. THEN I ordered the 'Marvino's Margarita", which on the menu is $7.00. Trying to keep the cost down tonight, it's the reason I ordered it. He asked: "small or large", without giving me any information. Turns out the 'large' was the Italian Margarita. NOT the one that I ordered. Which was $11.00. I do not appreciated being 'tricked' into 'padding' his check. As a waitress in my younger days, that is something I NEVER did to guests in my restaurant! THEN after disputing the check, I had to sit through a 'dissertation' on the difference between the margaritas by the manager. NOT HAPPY!!! Definitely NOT the service ANY customer should EVER be given!! Will NOT be back ANY time soon! read more

I've given Marvino's a few tries and while I will say that the food is good -- especially among the limited good Italian food options in Cypress -- the restaurant sure has some work to do with their menu and their staff. Our first visit there, it took over 15 minutes to be acknowledged by a waiter, over 25 minutes to get our drinks (water and a beer), and nearly an hour to get our order. The waiter claimed that the gluten-free pasta I ordered took longer to cook, but not even gf pasta takes THAT long to boil. When my dish finally did arrive, the pasta was severely undercooked. In the midst of all of this, the manager was seen counting money near the restaurant entrance which I thought was in poor taste. We did get a free dessert for the inconvenience, but the service took entirely too long for hard pasta making the experience a poor one -- and the entire dining took entirely too long. Over a month later we tried takeout. We picked up our order and brought it home to find that it was incomplete and incorrectly made. I called and they offered to remake the dish and the missing salad. After 4 phone calls, 2 round trips, 2 chats with the chef, and 1 chat with the manager my poor hubby finally showed up with the correct dish. We didn't even get credit for our meal or anything for the trouble. All in all the food is tasty when it's correct. However the owners should be aware that while it's wonderful that they offer gf options, their staff needs to be better trained on how to handle these orders. I also suggest that Marvino's create a separate gf menu section in which qualifying gf pasta types, gf sauces, and gf meats are clearly spelled out for guests -- and most importantly their staff. read more

This is a hit or miss place it all varies on the service. Food is good, but the bread is not same as it was when it first started. The calamari is very delicious and I've stated it all varies depending on the attitude of server you get that day. You may have a pleasant dining experience or just an over paid dinner. read more

Marvinos Italian kitchen is a refreshing new addition to the cypress area. The building itself is definitely a sight to see. When we first walked in you are met by a hostes welcoming you to marvino's. The next thing you see is the abiance of the restaurant. The decor within the restaurant brings the look and feel of Italy right to you. Throughout the restaurant you find a variety of art work from world renowned artist. The food we ate was amazing and decorative. We also really liked the bread which was served and the dipping oil which is unlike others we have tried in the past. The wait staff was very attentive and dressed sharply. Overall a very delightful meal and we left not only enjoying the food but loved the entire (experience) that was given to us. read more

Our son was visiting so we took him to Marvin'a for dinner, Our server was Michael, who was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the days specials. He took our drink orders quickly and brought them to us just as quick. My husband ordered the Veal Parmigiana with marinara sauce and our son and myself ordered the lobster bisque and sea bass with crabmeat, shrimp in a light alfredo sauce. The veal was so tasty and tender that you couldn't pick it up with the fork you had to go underneath it- delicious! The lobster bisque was to die for so to speak and the sea bass was so tasty and moist with the crabmeat and shrimp as well as the pasta with light butter and garlic- also delicious! We have come here several times and plan to come many more to limes. Michael checked with us now and then making sure things were good, need to keep him and get more servers like him. Its new and nice.. but. Service was slow and it wasnt packed. Upscale Italian but over priced. Waited about 5mins for my water. Got half portion of the Ravioli w Short Rib and Vodka sauce. Sorry but not good. Ravioli was flat meaning nothing was hardly stuffed inside, came with 4...yes just 4 raviolis. Sauce was ok. Wife got the crab pasta w blanco sauce. Uhhh no sir. No blanco sauce just oil and no flavor. We actually got creative and out her noodles in my sauce and it was edible. Bread and olive oil was free and good but after that no more for the meal? It was 25$ for 2 half portions that were not good. Sorry. I tried. The other entrée 23$ + each...no sir were priced way to high compared to all other itialian places with better food. Olive garden. After a 45-minute wait from 6:40 to 7:25 (the restaurant doesn't accept reservations yet), the two of us were seated at a booth for 6 (no, we're average-size). The service was good; the food came out very quickly--a little too quickly as our entree arrived just a few minutes after our salads. I had the Eggplant Parmesan with linguine and marinara sauce. The sauce was unimpressive, a little on the bland side. The eggplant parmesan was very disappointing. Very little eggplant or cheese, lots of breading. Again, bland. My husband had lasagna, which was better, but still just average. We ordered key-lime pie for dessert and again--really unremarkable. We love Alicia's and Dario's, so this was a let-down. I'm hoping they'll improve as they go--this is, after all, their first week in business--because right now they're a notch below Macaroni Grill. Wait staff and hosts were very friendly. One other point: Fox News on the television? Ideally, nice restaurants shouldn't even have televisions. But I understand they make quite a bit from their bar (what else are you going to do during the 45 minutes-1 hour wait), but if you're going to have televisions, run sports or even travel shows, not news. Great food and service!! We went around 6:15 on Friday night. We sat at the bar and had a few drinks and a bottle of wine. Good wine prices, not so over priced like Dario's. Had a ton of food selections. We got a Hawaiian pizza which was really good and big, and a steak with potatoes and green beans, started with a bowl of the minestrone soup. The soup was fantastic, and the pizza and steak were great too. They have a good kids menu and senior citizens menu, and offer half portions of pastas which is great. The bar ended up getting really slammed after about an hour or so, they had only 2 people behind the bar and needed at least 4. Other than that, we had a great time. I'm very disappointed in the service. I ordered to go and the lady on the phone was not helpful or didn't know any of the meals. We picked up our food and it was wrong. They also didn't include any salads which the entrees come with them. We called back and expressed our frustration to have a $50 meal without a salad and she said the manager was busy. I will never go back there again. The food is not that good for the price and the service sucks. We were supporters but that one bad experience made us realize it's not ever worth it again. read more

Neither my husband or I were impressed with either item we ordered. The wait staff was good and for a Sat evening we only waited about 15-20 min which we were happy about. The two dishes we ordered (chicken Nano and the lump crab meat pasta) were not too impressive and I wouldn't order either again.
