I've given Marvino's a few tries and while I will say that the food is good -- especially among the limited good Italian food options in Cypress -- the restaurant sure has some work to do with their menu and their staff. Our first visit there, it took over 15 minutes to be acknowledged by a waiter, over 25 minutes to get our drinks (water and a beer), and nearly an hour to get our order. The waiter claimed that the gluten-free pasta I ordered took longer to cook, but not even gf pasta takes THAT long to boil. When my dish finally did arrive, the pasta was severely undercooked. In the midst of all of this, the manager was seen counting money near the restaurant entrance which I thought was in poor taste. We did get a free dessert for the inconvenience, but the service took entirely too long for hard pasta making the experience a poor one -- and the entire dining took entirely too long. Over a month later we tried takeout. We picked up our order and brought it home to find that it was incomplete and incorrectly made. I called and they offered to remake the dish and the missing salad. After 4 phone calls, 2 round trips, 2 chats with the chef, and 1 chat with the manager my poor hubby finally showed up with the correct dish. We didn't even get credit for our meal or anything for the trouble. All in all the food is tasty when it's correct. However the owners should be aware that while it's wonderful that they offer gf options, their staff needs to be better trained on how to handle these orders. I also suggest that Marvino's create a separate gf menu section in which qualifying gf pasta types, gf sauces, and gf meats are clearly spelled out for guests -- and most importantly their staff. read more

Very delicious food! Plenty of options for every taste. And to my surprise they are kid friendly. They allow kids to eat free on Monday. Unfortunately we were too full to try dessert. But they have alot to choose from. Service was friendly and professional. We will definitely be back again. read more

Very good Italian food. Sat in the bar area but wish the service had been a little better. I definitely plan to return as there are other items on the menu I want to try. read more

The thing I like about the place the most is that it can be a venue you use for a plethora of events like a birthday party, business meeting, family outing, or romantic date. The food is nice and hot. The menu offers a variety of Italian options including different choices like steak and shrimp. I ordered the lasagna and had a glass of red wine which was great! I plan to patron Marvino's on a more regular basis. I am glad that Cypress is adding more full service restaurants where my wife and I can have a date! read more

Tried you guys again today. We asked if there was a lunch menu. The first waiter said "oh they didn't give you the lunch menus?". Then the host said normally they don't do lunch but both said they would give it to us to order. We sat back down and ordered our drinks and received them. The second waiter came back and snidely said we couldn't order from them. We were ordering $12.99 meals plus the $4.50 salads and that was the lunch pricing. We wondered why the parking lot was empty now we know. read more

Good Italian food is difficult to come by in many parts of Houston. It's nice having a place like this near my business that I can take clients for lunch and not worry about the food or service. read more

Marvinos Italian kitchen is a refreshing new addition to the cypress area. The building itself is definitely a sight to see. When we first walked in you are met by a hostes welcoming you to marvino's. The next thing you see is the abiance of the restaurant. The decor within the restaurant brings the look and feel of Italy right to you. Throughout the restaurant you find a variety of art work from world renowned artist. The food we ate was amazing and decorative. We also really liked the bread which was served and the dipping oil which is unlike others we have tried in the past. The wait staff was very attentive and dressed sharply. Overall a very delightful meal and we left not only enjoying the food but loved the entire (experience) that was given to us. read more

Tried this place on a limb, was a little nervous due to hearing stories of negative experiences. But I loved it! The food was amazing, from the Salmon, to the pasta, to the delicious praline cheesecake. Our server was very attentive and seemed to know his stuff when it came to the menu. We went with his wine recommendation and we were not disappointed! read more

Went in for a date night with my boyfriend on New Years Eve. Were told there was a 15-20 minute wait. Not a big deal, especially since we knew it was a holiday. We were there waiting for about 25 minutes when a couple walks in and stands at the host station. The gentleman checking people in was on the phone when they walked in and the couple felt like because they had to wait 45 seconds for him to get off the phone they were owed something and started complaining. My boyfriend and I were in shock that the couple was so rude. 5 minutes later we saw the couple, who had been sitting at the bar, being brought to the front so that they may be escorted to their table. Apparently, they complained and were immediately seated. I then approached the host and asked why it was that they were being seated while we had been waiting for over 30 minutes. He argued with me and told me that they had been there before we got there, even though I explained that I had literally watched everything happen. He didn't believe me until another gentleman came up and agreed with what I was saying. All of the sudden the host saw where he was wrong. -_- Anyways, 4 tables magically appeared and we were sat. Not once did a manager come up and apologize. Food was okay I suppose. Unfortunately, everything that happened before hand put a damper in our date night. read more

We have always enjoyed Marvino's as well as the other Herrera restaurants in cypress, but tonight was wonderful. We were so happy to see Eric from Jaxtons back at Marvino's. Food was great, as usual, but the service was awesome. We will always ask for Eric. He is the best. read more

Best Italian food and seafood. Fried calamari always great. Italian Margarita soooo tasty!

Its new and nice.. but. Service was slow and it wasnt packed. Upscale Italian but over priced. Waited about 5mins for my water. Got half portion of the Ravioli w Short Rib and Vodka sauce. Sorry but not good. Ravioli was flat meaning nothing was hardly stuffed inside, came with 4...yes just 4 raviolis. Sauce was ok. Wife got the crab pasta w blanco sauce. Uhhh no sir. No blanco sauce just oil and no flavor. We actually got creative and out her noodles in my sauce and it was edible. Bread and olive oil was free and good but after that no more for the meal? It was 25$ for 2 half portions that were not good. Sorry. I tried. The other entrée 23$ + each...no sir were priced way to high compared to all other itialian places with better food. Olive garden. Zios r way better. Yes...exactly. heck i didnt even see spegetti with meat sauce on the menu...really. smh. U decide read more

Service was bad, inattentive and at the end pushed us out. Food was disappointing. Penne pesto shrimp was at best ok and only 5 tiny shrimp in the full order. Her's , shrimp/clams in tomato sauce with pasta. Sauce was way sweet like a cheap Ragu. Will not be returning. read more

Very disappointed tonight. Juan was our waiter. Was young, but seemed to know the menu well. Offered us salads that were included with the meal-listed wedge, caprese-I interrupted and asked if those were included, because as a frequent diner of other restaurants, that was surprising to me. He said:"oh, with a small up -charge", and on further questioning he said $1 or $2. The up-charge for the wedge was $3.50. Sorry, but that's not an 'included salad'. Good thing I said no to the caprese. THEN I ordered the 'Marvino's Margarita", which on the menu is $7.00. Trying to keep the cost down tonight, it's the reason I ordered it. He asked: "small or large", without giving me any information. Turns out the 'large' was the Italian Margarita. NOT the one that I ordered. Which was $11.00. I do not appreciated being 'tricked' into 'padding' his check. As a waitress in my younger days, that is something I NEVER did to guests in my restaurant! THEN after disputing the check, I had to sit through a 'dissertation' on the difference between the margaritas by the manager. NOT HAPPY!!! Definitely NOT the service ANY customer should EVER be given!! Will NOT be back ANY time soon! read more

Love! Love! Went to eat dinner here tonight with my family and we will definitely be back again!!! The food was great and the staff was excellent!!! I ordered The Gulf Red Snapper and my husband ordered the Chicken Fettuccini. We both enjoyed our meals! read more

So we've dined in a few times and always always enjoy... so this is about their catering service. I recently held my company party at my house and we were expecting 25ish people. I called about a week ahead and ordered the salmon, lasagna and spinach artichoke dip. Everything was PERFECT and the delivered right on time! People kept asking where the food was from and there was barely anything left so I think that's a good sign. With each entree you get bread, their yummy olive oil for dipping, salad and even the serving utensils. Needless to say, we will use them again in the future and will definitely recommend! Amazing food and equally amazing customer service. read more

Worst service I've ever experienced. After coming in and being seated by the hostess it took more than 20 minutes for a waiter to come up to our table. In fact many waiters saw me and my significant other being seated but didn't want to knowledge our table. There was another party that walked in and was seated after us and was served first before us. Everyone was so disrespectful. No menu was given to us nor did anyone care to ask what beverage we wanted to drink. Very Rude service and will never come back. read more

Service was lousy. WAAAAY overpriced. My husbands chicken was burned and flipped upside down as if he wouldn't notice it once he started eating. Bummer. Place is gorgeous and we REALLY wanted to love it. Will never return. read more

After a 45-minute wait from 6:40 to 7:25 (the restaurant doesn't accept reservations yet), the two of us were seated at a booth for 6 (no, we're average-size). The service was good; the food came out very quickly--a little too quickly as our entree arrived just a few minutes after our salads. I had the Eggplant Parmesan with linguine and marinara sauce. The sauce was unimpressive, a little on the bland side. The eggplant parmesan was very disappointing. Very little eggplant or cheese, lots of breading. Again, bland. My husband had lasagna, which was better, but still just average. We ordered key-lime pie for dessert and again--really unremarkable. We love Alicia's and Dario's, so this was a let-down. I'm hoping they'll improve as they go--this is, after all, their first week in business--because right now they're a notch below Macaroni Grill. Wait staff and hosts were very friendly. One other point: Fox News on the television? Ideally, nice restaurants shouldn't even have televisions. But I understand they make quite a bit from their bar (what else are you going to do during the 45 minutes-1 hour wait), but if you're going to have televisions, run sports or even travel shows, not news. Especially not Fox. read more

Great food and service!! We went around 6:15 on Friday night. We sat at the bar and had a few drinks and a bottle of wine. Good wine prices, not so over priced like Dario's. Had a ton of food selections. We got a Hawaiian pizza which was really good and big, and a steak with potatoes and green beans, started with a bowl of the minestrone soup. The soup was fantastic, and the pizza and steak were great too. They have a good kids menu and senior citizens menu, and offer half portions of pastas which is great. The bar ended up getting really slammed after about an hour or so, they had only 2 people behind the bar and needed at least 4. Other than that, we had a great time. Awesome ambiance and the bar tenders were great! read more

I have eaten at all 4 of these restaurants. This review is for Marvino's. I guess true service is no longer expected at any fine establishment. My sister and I went on Wednesday to Marvino's for dinner. Immediately someone came with bread, dipping sauce and water. We were told when seated that our server would be with us directly. About 5 or so minutes after receiving our water, etc., he showed up, gave his name and asked if we would like a drink. The drink arrived almost 10 minutes later we told him we were ready to order and asked about the steak special. Then we asked about the rest of the specials, this seemed to annoy him. We began to place our order, my sister ordered the small filet, medium or medium well, she said. No he said one instruction to the Chet, that was all he would give. We asked what the sides dishes were, he handed her the menu and indicated she could look them up. We along with several other tables nearby waited almost 30 minutes for our dinner, he did not deliver, never saw him again till we asked for the check. Dining out used to be a joy, something to look forward to. I was a server in a very high end restaurant and knew what I should expect from service. I left the smallest tip on a $400+ check than I have ever left before and the server did not deserve even that. The food, in spite of the service was good, our steaks were wonderful and the drink I had was yummy. read more

This wasn't the best Italian restaurant. The food was dry, some of the meat was uncooked. The service was also bad. People who got to Marvino's after us, got their food first and it was more complicated. It took them an hour to serve us. read more

I am a huge fan of Olive Garden and Carrabba's and this place makes me never want to go back! The service was amazing and we went right after I'm guessing prom so they were really busy but we didn't have to wait for our drinks to be refilled and we didn't have to wait too long for our appetizer. We got the fried mozzarella sticks. It came with four huge (looked like) hand battered Mozzarella stick. And the marinara sauce was delicious. Then we had our side salad come out. And the dressing I got was so good I believe mine was Italian dressing. And my husband got ranch dressing and it was delicious as well. My husband ordered the Parmesan chicken and it comes with a little bit of spaghetti and both were bomb. Definitely tasted homemade. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and it tasted amazing as well. I love this place. I will probably never go back to Olive Garden again. We got an appetizer, two entrées, bread, salad, and a slice of strawberry cheesecake for 53$ including two sodas. I definitely think it's worth the price and we will be back! read more

Marvino's - Italian Near Me - Cypress, Texas

Excellent food. Some of the other reviewers have griped about poor service, but our server was quick and attentive. But did I mention that the food was excellent? I had the cioppino and my husband had the Chicken Marvino. Both very good, and generous portions, too. Their bread is delicious, and the garlic and herb infused oil they give you to dip the bread... it's like crack. Definitely recommend it! read more

Request Russell as your server. He did a wonderful job. Food was excellent and came out quickly. At dinner there are server attendants which means your drinks never go empty and your bread basket is full. The bread is great. Tastes homemade. And the deserts! The tiramisu is awesome! read more

Haven't been to Marvino's for 4 or 5 years but since it was Sunday and a lot of the other Italian restaurants are closed, we decided to try it again. Big mistake. There were 4 in our party and the table was set for 2. The waitress came by, gave us the drink menu, took our drink order and left. Bread was brought to the table but we didn't have enough plates or silverware. After waiting for about 5 minutes, we just took the items we needed off the table next to us. After another 5 minutes, I went to the hostess stand and asked for menus since our waitress had disappeared. Still no drinks. A full 20 minutes later my very irate and thirsty husband found the manager and told him we wanted our drinks now or we were on our way. Miraculously 3 of us got our drinks, all except for my husband's Corona. (I told him they were punishing him for complaining.) It eventually came but this was the story the entire evening. The food was alright but nothing that I would crave to come back for again. My daughter ordered a second glass of wine 3 times before it was finally delivered. All in all we were there for a good 2-1/2 hours and the majority of that time was spent waiting. Will definitely not be going back. read more

Beautiful restaurant inside and out. We were looking forward to a great meal like we've always had at Alicia's and were anxious to try Marvino's. Neither my husband or I were impressed with either item we ordered. The wait staff was good and for a Sat evening we only waited about 15-20 min which we were happy about. The two dishes we ordered (chicken Nano and the lump crab meat pasta) were not too impressive and I wouldn't order either again. We will give it another shot - hopefully it was just our selection - but weren't overly impressed with our first experience there. read more

The service was shotty. 2 of us ordered wine, 2 ordered tea and it was all brought out separately (after having to ask about our teas several times). The bread ans dip was very good although they forgot to bring bread plates. The Cesar salad was delicious with generous servings of chicken. The Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken was good, but bland. Most of my disappointment was with the service! read more

The first time I came here it was fantastic. The next time for dinner my food was not the same. I ordered the same dish and it was not consistent. It was good but not as good as the first time.
