Love this bar concept! Although the bar stools aren't that comfortable. I had the 3 handrolls. It was very fresh and yummy! Only complaint is the portion is on the smaller side. The scallops were delicious! Service was attentive and nice! Def recommend to check it out!

Maru Handroll Bar is Memphis' first hand roll bar. They serve a variety of small bites, crudos, sashimi, and sushi hand rolls. It is a two-story restaurant with a dedicated hand-roll bar on the ground floor. At the same time, the mezzanine level will offer an exclusive space for omakase service (TBD for the mezzanine opening). Parking is available in a private lot shared with other businesses. I highly recommend making reservations via phone or Resy on the weekends, as we waited about 25 minutes past our reservation time on the ground floor. Because the restaurant is fairly new, they do not have a liquor license yet, so you can bring your own alcohol (sake cups are provided). FOOD: 1. Spicy Tuna Handroll (4/5): This is part of the 3 hand roll option. This was my favorite. Simple and fresh. 2. Hamachi/Japanese Amberjack Handroll (4/5): This is part of the 3 hand roll option. This was my second favorite. Simple and fresh. 3. Sake/Wild-Caught Salmon Handroll (4/5): This is part of the 3 hand roll option. This was my least favorite, but it was still good. Simple and fresh. 4. Scallops Sashimi (4/5): There are three pieces per order. I would order these again. 5. Bluefin Akami Tuna Sashimi (4/5): There are three pieces per order. I would order these again. 6. Chutoro/Medium-Fatty Tuna Sashimi (5/5): There are three pieces per order. I would order these again. 7. Maguro Tuna Crudo (3/5): I was not that impressed by this. 8. Hamachi/Japanese Amberjack Crudo (5/5): We debated ordering another. This was definitely the best of the three crudos and was recommended by the couple next to us. The service was great. The servers around the hand roll station were attentive, and the sushi chefs took their time to create each dish. Everything was made fresh to order, and the food came out at a good pace. Would I come back? Yeah.

I thought this was such a cool and interesting restaurant! I did not know that the menu served basically only hand rolls and no sushi rolls but I thought it was very fun. The whole restaurant is very vibey. Even though I went with a friend I can see it being the ultimate date night. There are no tables here, you only sit around a bar counter. They make your sushi hand rolls in front of you then place each one on the bar counter for you to take. I thought everything was delicious and tasted so fresh. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly! When we came they still did not have their liquor license but you can byob it which I think is pretty cool! All in all it's a fun spot to check out.

I've been here twice now and highly recommend! The 4 hand-roll combo is my favorite and it gives a nice selection of the different fish. Also tried the crudo and loved it. Atmosphere is pretty. Also they have a byob policy if you want to bring your own wine or sake. They do serve beers onsite though.

Loved the atmosphere, service and cleanliness. We made reservations and got sat right away. We got every small bites, crudos and the 4 handroll set and loved them.

Manu is an excellent addition to the Memphis food scene. The ambiance of sitting right at the bar and getting served as it is ready was so fun! We visited in the later afternoon on a weekday and were served immediately. Everything was delicious! I think we all agreed that getting the a crudo was a perfect opener and that we should have gotten the three handroll combo that they offer. The hashimi handroll was the fan favorite, followed closely by the spicy tuna. I also tried an avocado and it was delicious. The chili cucumber was a great way to start our meal. I am excited to return again!

The sushi place Memphis has been dying for. Perfect size for success with great music and personal service. Hamachi Rudow and Henry were fantastic and the avocado hand roll was way better than it had the right to be. Brought our own sake and had a ball.

Outstanding fish. The best I have had in all of Tennessee so far. The roles are small and it takes a while to get full. You should probably pregame with a steak before you come because you don't want to try to fill up on the A5W steak, unless you're trying to impress your date with how rich you are. It's a small restaurant and it fills up quickly. They accept reservations and they are probably the only way you're going to get a seat on Friday or Saturday night without waiting. If I was rude to the manager, that was my fault, and I apologize.

Amazing all around. After spending the morning shopping in cooper young - I decided to grab lunch…read moreat my favorite ramen spot. This place never misses. The staff is delightful and assists with the menu if you need help. Soft music playing in the background. It feels like you are in an actual local ramen shop in Japan. I orders Nagoya memories, it comes with 3 toppings and 1 protein. I picked corn, bean sprouts, scallions with Pork. I also added extra pork but that wasn't even needed. You get a huge helping of toppings and protein for a decent price. I always leave full and with extra to take home.

The korokke was so-so, and the sauce on it didn't really work for me. The Nagoya Memories ramen came in a generous portion, and to be fair, it wasn't too bad. The flavor itself was okay, but the broth was quite oily for me. It also didn't feel authentic or taste like Japanese ramen. The noodles had a texture more like Chinese thin noodles, and the broth tasted more like a Chinese-style noodle soup. Overall, not a bad meal, but as Japanese food and ramen lovers, the flavors just didn't quite match what we were expecting.
