I really enjoyed my meal! The staff were friendly and welcoming. The vibe is calm with soothing music playing in the background. I ordered the Pho and a small roll, I haven't been here in quite sometime but I remember the pho being a large portion and it was! The broth was delicious and this was the perfect day for it. There were a few people dining and a few pick up orders so it was a great time to have a pleasant meal. read more

Still the best spot in Memphis for pho. The team is always welcoming and friendly. The food is always fresh and flavorful. I tried the shrimp pho this time and I love their unique way how they prepare the shrimp instead of just boiling it. Make sure to stop by during this winter to enjoy their wide variety of foods. read more

Haven't been in years; decided to stop by for dinner. The interior is far more sparse than it was years ago. Kind of Spartan in its appointment, there's a big green wall with faux plants when you come in. It looks deceptively large from the outside...the market that faces Summer takes up a lot of the footprint (but is worth a stop by- roasted pork and duck to-go). The staff was busy but attentive, not much for convo. This is a place to go for for food, not experience (anymore?). Had three rolls and pho. Phoenix, Rainbow, something else; spicy pho and combo kimchi pho. The rolls were good. The ones with cream cheese were better than those without. But, alas, nothing that made them stand out remarkably from, say, Sakura. The pho was a bit underwhelming (and perhaps because I'm not a 'man, I could really go for soup! kinda guy). But I've had better pho elsewhere. The broth wasn't as depthy or layer as other places (Crazy Noodle). The kimchi added hints of novelty, but nothing that broke the mold. All in all, great place if you're looking for a peacemaker if you want good pho AND sushi. But good does not great make. It's a compromise, a 3 star solid destination. read more

They get their products from Great China Food Market and I'm boycotting Great China Food Market for the following reasons. Take a moment to listen and understand what I'm about to tell you. I went to Great China Food Market and I had an odd disrespectful experience. We were respectful, quiet, used manners to get by people, but we were getting weird looks/stares from all the older Asian customers in there, but this is not about the customers because they were just there to shop and they see someone different. The cashier in there bagged and handed everyone their receipt. Remember this. We've been here before and it wasn't the same respectful guy at the cash register, it was a different guy. For time stamps Saturday, July 18th, 2026, around or before 1pm if there were any cameras. When he was checking our items out, he threw the bag in front of us and threw the receipt in front of us. But then he started getting a bag ready for the next customer so he can bag their things. I was so thrown off by his disrespectful childish behaviour. Mind you, a grown man acting like this. I can't think of any way that we were rude, so that leads to one conclusion. This is how you'll get treated in Great China Food Market especially if you're brown. Apparently you have to look the part for people to respect you in there. But he seems fine with white people. Just don't go there. They're clearly disrespectful and they don't know they live in a diverse country. I hope that grown man child can learn from this and treat his brown customers better. As minorities, we should respect each other, I don't know why you feel so disgusted with us to the point where you can't even hand us the receipt, we can bag things on our own but the fact that you threw both the bag and the receipt in front of us while getting a bag ready for the next customer, it really made us feel disrespected. Why do you have so much hate in your heart? We are all human and we just wanted to buy some latiao, you didn't have to disrespect us like that while respecting all the other customers to make us feel small. Are we not worthy of your respect? I can't even say that it's implicit bias when you're fully aware of what you're doing. Shame on you. read more

Ryu is my favorite place to go sushi and pho in Memphis! Not only is the food good, the service is always 10/10 . The owner is so personable and makes you feel right at home!! The restaurant is kept up really well, very clean, and such a cute vibe inside. No complaints EVER!! read more

Stopped in for a bowl of Pho Thursday afternoon. Great day for soup. It was partly sunny, cool and windy. The yummy soup warmed up my cold bones. I had the pho with pork and vegetable dumplings. Very tasty. My aunt had the pho with beef tenderloin. Good bone broth for both bowls of soup. The soup was a good serving and we had leftovers to take home. Soup was served with Thai basil, jalapeños, lime, and bean sprouts. Good mix of soup fixings. The restaurant is average size. Our server was excellent. She was courteous and very nice. Parking is plentiful and the restaurant is right next to Great China Market. You can go grab a bite to eat then go shopping for much needed Asian staples for cooking. Lunch was about $35.00 with tax. We also ordered a pot of tea. It was Oolong tea. Will be back for other types of available pho. Sushi is also available but we did not order any for lunch. Will be back again soon. Very nice place! read more

Best sushi in Memphis! The servers are great and even box your food up for you at your table. We love the dumpling appetizers. If you like kimchi with a good kick then this is the place to try it. The Firecracker sushi is my absolute favorite. I once ordered it 3 times in one week. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! The outside is plainly decorated and missable when driving by but once you enter it has a nice set up. The kitchen and dining area is impeccably CLEAN! Customer service was great as well. Don't hesitate to drop in to eat or order to-go. I ordered the Crispy Dumplings (made with pork) (not pictured) and they were delicious! The sweet chili dipping sauce really set them off. For the main, I ordered the Seafood Pho. The broth was delicious, shrimp tasty, and noodles cooked perfectly. You get a huge serving that's enough for leftovers! Overall, I will return here to try out some of their sushi options as they do serve that as well. read more

I've been a customer here for many years, long before they became RYU sushi & pho. This place is a hidden gem, with sushi is always fresh, and tasty. Always has been my favorite place to go for sushi in the entire area, and their bento boxes are the best too. Some of my faves are Seaweed Salad, Shrimp Tempura, Edamame, Fried dumplings, Cowboy, Firecracker, Spicy Shrimp Rolls, and Pho Combo. Bottom line: Simple on the outside, pleasant on the inside, friendly service, moderately priced, and usually no wait. You can also order online at their website for pickup and delivery, nice. A big plus is an Asian market next door, the best in town. Recommended!! https://www.ryusushibarmemphis.com/ read more

My husband and I like to come here for quiet lunches and dinners since we are right around the corner. The atmosphere is peaceful and clean, and the service is always friendly. We both love the spicy beef noodle soup and the fried salmon roll, although I have ordered a lot there (never a disappointment). What I love the most is the joy you can see on the owner's face when she prepares food- you can tell she really loves what she does and serves her food with love. read more

I placed an order the DoorDash and surprisingly my order was correct and delivered earlier than expected. I ordered 2 California rolls, 1 fire roll and 1 firecracker roll! The fire and firecracker roll were pretty much the same except the firecracker roll had crab ontop. All the flavors were good but I'm real big on bite size sushi. These were not bite size, not even the Cali rolls! I hate to take two bites out of sushi or have to stuff my mouth the eat it all at once. That was my only issue with the food. Four rolls came up to $37.70-not too bad. read more

There was a time years that I was not very pleased with ryu. They have really cleaned up lately! Not the best pho to be honest but the brisket is tender and the broth is clean. The fish on the sushi is really good too. I go here about once a week for some quiet time and it's so nice to just be in their calm, open space. I always like the music (though there was once some water sounds with the music that made it even more relaxing) and everyone who works there is very nice! It is one of my favorite places to be! One of my favorite sushi spots. They've trimmed down the menu a bit since my last visit. I remember you used to be able to get a meat and rice combo, but now it's mostly sushi and pho (apart from a few appetizers, soups and salads). I like both of these things, so it's not a problem for me! Unfortunately, the pho was not available during our visit, as they sold out of broth during the lunch rush (so if you want pho, make sure you're there during peak times). Luckily, our server was very accommodating of my partner, who cannot eat raw fish or shellfish, and she helped us pick out some rolls that suited his tastes. I had the sashimi Combo and the Utopia Roll with yellowtail. Both were beautifully presented and very delicious. No fishy taste here, just fresh, expertly prepared fish with perfect texture. The atmosphere is quiet and elegant, perfect for a relaxing lunch. I particularly recommend stopping by if you've just survived a harrowing experience at the Driver Services and Reinstatement Center down the road. After waiting for hours in a cramped room full of crying children and apathetic employees, Ryu will heal your soul. read more

I've literally driven past this place for years and never stopped because I have this stigma of eating food on Summer...don't ask . I read the reviews on this place and I've been in dire need of really good sushi. Let me just say they DELIVERED! We ordered the Yellowtail Jalepeno, Tofu Roll, Softshell Crab, Softshell Crab Roll, and Tofu Pho. EVERYTHING we had was awesome although next time I probably won't get the Yellowtail because it wasn't bad just not my favorite dish. Our server was very nice, she was efficient, personable, and offered great suggestions. The space was also very clean and had nice calming music. We will definitely be back. read more

GREAT PHO!!! By far one of the best in Memphis! Staff is awesome, service is VERY quick and food is ALWAYS good. Try their Kimchi Pho or Pho Tai, really good either way. Eat there several times throughout the month as it is conveniently located and quick to get to and their Pho and Sushi are really good! Will start trying their other offerings. Best time to hit it is around 11:30 local, you will hit the typical lunch crowd, but alot are carry out orders. Nice thing I like, is they remember your orders. Rose and Lisa are great with remembering orders and make it easy to get in and get out. Staff is very personable and easy to get along with. We tried Elena's Taco and Elwood's Shack but both were closed on Sunday. After a quick Yelp check we decided on Ryu. Located in a small strip center across from Bargain Hunt the outside looked third world ...or maybe fourth. The interior had anime playing, a sushi bar and several tables with Oriental design chairs and geisha patterned upholstery. The art was large modern prints. Service was great and both our sushi and teriyaki were excellent. Prices and serving size were reasonable. Seems to be popular with groups. There were only two other couples. read more
