Our first experience was takeout rather than dine in, and this only reflects such. The food portions were very sizable and not expensive. Since we only ordered a tonkotsu ramen dish, and a rice bowl (donburi), these two dinners may not be reflective of other dinners they offer. But the pork in the ramen dish was very fatty and tough, while the vegetables and broth were not very flavorful. The dishes are Japanese, but they were not prepared by Japanese cooks, nor in the authentic way these dishes are normally prepared. They both tasted somewhat over processed, rather than fresh. The ambiance of the restaurant was dark, not very clean, and at 5:30 pm, only 1 couple was eating in the restaurant. It may have just been a bad day...but the Kyuramen restaurant or Poke world, Sakura Garden, made much better food in our opinion.

I had a taste for a bowl and Yelped places that were close to me at the time and Kami Ramen Bar came up. I stopped in and was sat and served quickly. I started out with the Kami House Salad. It came with lettuce, cabbage, and carrots with the Kami special dressing. It was good. I also had the Spicy Shrimp Ramen Shrimp and pork broth, marinated egg, nori, bamboo shoot, kikurage, and grilled shrimp. My spice level was regular hot. The price point is good. I went in for lunch. I will say the environment is very casual and calm. I enjoyed.

Overall: comparing to all the ramen ive tasted in NYC this would be the average. Nothing crazy nothing bad. I dont know how the other ramen places are in Memphis. However this place gives a big portion of noodles. For 13.95 on ramen this is a steal compared to the 17$ ramen in NYC. Service: she was so quick and attentive it was great! Inside: lots of seating available on a Thursday night. Had a group of 6 and sat instantly. Food: had the edamame, needed some salt. The chicken karrage was good but need to be double fried as the fried layer was a little thin but the taste was perfect. As for the ramen, all of us needed to add the chili oil or some salt as the broth was not as seasoned as we'd hoped. For the noodles the portion was huge. Usually need to kaedama but this was perfect!

I brought mine food as takeout, I received everything I wanted. I brought the spicy chicken ramen and it was really good. As well as, brought the fried cheesecake. I was disappointed due to the fried part of it not tasting good and the chocolate part. However, the inside of the cheesecake tasted great including the strawberries and bananas that comes with it. I would return for the ramen and if they have normal cheesecake I would purchase that

Always a great ramen spot for those on a wallet-friendly budget. Although easy to rack up a bill with the amazing appetizers & drinks. Love the decor & plenty of seating.

Goodramen spot! My vegan ramen was creamy, savory, and satisfying. They also offer Japanese sodas and refreshing fruit teas, which pair perfectly with the meal. The service was impressively speedy and kind, making the experience even better. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu

Tasty! Flavorful! Fast! And the apple martini is made with crown which is sassy little twist on the normally sweet concoction! I ordered the chicken curry ramen, held the corn, added bokchou and bean sprouts. My sisterwife ordered the first flavor on the chicken menu (sorry I don't know the name) added bean sprouts and added a different type of chicken. We both enjoyed our food. It was delicious!

Ordered the Tonkotsu Black ramen to go. Lady at the counter I ordered with was short and once my order was ready she handed it to me so fast it swung in the air. The ramen was very bland imo (I am used to good flavorful ramen). You can add in extra items for a small price. The egg roll was good and they provided a sauce to go with it that was delicious. The ambiance was really nice, quiet with alot of booth space. I'd still come back to dine in and probably add more items to my ramen as well as any sauces they provide.

On Friday, the three of us decided to meet up at Kami Ramen Bar. Kami is located off of Poplar in the same shopping center with Best Buy, Rei, and Red Koi. The interior is clean and decorated on a theme. The lights are dimmed, and the close space gives Kami somewhat of an intimate setting. There was a wait, but it wasn't long at all. The staff is friendly, and they had cool shirts on. The hostess was wearing Deftones and the waitress had a Gorillaz shirt. I like that the menu has a lot to choose from with food, bowls, dishes, and beverages. They also have vegetarian and vegan options, along with indicators if the dish is spicy or not. Kami also serves alcohol, and sake is a must for a ramen shop. Sake is served warm or cold. The guys got a round of Purple Haze sake, and they said it was ok. For appetizers, we got gyōza and chicken karaage. The gyōza was ok but the chicken karaage was really good! It was tender, crispy, and well seasoned. For entrees, we both decided on a Chicken Curry bowl and the Shoyu bowl. You can choose to have either thick or thin noodles and you can add more to your bowl if you like. I really liked my bowl. The chicken was tender and although it was somewhat in the broth itself, it wasn't soggy either. My advice would be to go when you really have an appetite. Everyone paces differently when they're eating, but ramen is best when it's hot. I consider Kami's price to portion reasonable. Prepare to spend in the window of $15-20 individually, but note that gratuity is only automatic for groups of 6 or more. I'll give this one a rating: playtime for your palate. I will resist the term itadakimasu. The menu is majority ramen of course, but there are several other sides and dishes to make it your own, bowl or not. While it's definitely somewhere fandom would bring you, it's a nice place to frequent with a friend, group or also as a solo stop.

Overall, the experience was average. The food did need more flavor. I ordered: 1. Gyoza - these had more of a fried crunchy texture than steamed and then seared. I prefer the latter. I also feel like the meat was missing some fresh ingredients to lighten the flavor profile. (3/5 ) 2. Tonkotsu black - the broth should have been thicker for tonkotsu style. I also think it was missing the robust flavor profile I am accustomed to. (3.5/5 ) The server had the demeanor of not wanting to be there and that they don't particularly enjoy their job. Other than that, they did complete all of the basic tasks expected of a server.

This place was in a busy area but we got seated right away on a Saturday night. Ramen was ok, fried rice was decent but salty. Our server, Jasmine, was nice and attentive. The marinated eggs in the ramen was the best part. Otherwise, just kinda bland and not the best.

I'm really glad I came here! The food is pretty good and there's a lot of options for ramen! I wasn't sure where to start so I asked the waitress for advice and she helped me pick out a traditional option, Kami Tonkatsu. I was surprised I liked the pork chasu in it because I'm not usually a friend of fat. But the fat on the pork melted really quickly and I didn't get squicked by the texture of it like I usually would. It only comes with one egg half so I might ask to add an additional egg half next time. Also, I kept note of which toppings I like in case you can sub stuff out. There's chili oil already on the table but when I asked to make it spicy the waitress also brought me an additional paste. I really liked the paste best as it increased the flavor and the spice at the same time. The chili oil added a kick but didn't help the flavor as much as what she brought me. To Try: Spicy Shrimp Tonkatsu Shoyu Loved: - Tonkatsu: Kami Ramen (with extra spicy paste) Liked: - Topping: Marinated Egg - Topping: Pork Chashu Ok: - Topping: Fish Cake - Topping: Kikurage

This place caught me off guard. I wasn't expecting of all places Mississippi to be a destination…read morefor Ramen. My confirmation bias says the Memphis area is a barren of good food. Well...I guess I was proven wrong. So I dropped my trailer off at Amazon MEM1, input the coordinates onto my Tractor GPS, and my Garmin 800 rejected the request...."Commercial Truck Restrictions All the way." And what did I do? I said f*ckit. I'm taking that risk. Probably the best Risk Reward experience I've had in ages. Every inch of my route towards this Ramen Pilgrimage was plagued by Traffic Signs reading, "No Semi-Trucks $1000.00 fine." And I just want to thank law enforcement between Memphis & South Haven for not busting me for craving a rich bowl of Tonkotsu delight. So what did I discover here? It was like walking into an enchanted Studio Ghibli scene. The hanging charms, the lush greenery, and lighting complimenting the earth tones, the holy sh*t they have PopCorn Chicken & Milk Tea here @@! Felt like I'm back in Taiwan with this fusion of Japanese & Taiwanese Food Culture. There wasn't even a college town nearby and this added more to my culture shock--- of all places... Mississippi. If you guys are still with me at this point, the Kyuramen x TBar in Southhaven wasn't the first location recommended to me by Yelp; I was actually planning on visiting the location in Santa Anita Mall in Arcadia California, BUT like Rayasianboy likes to quote on his live streams, "Goddid." The planets align, they sent me and my rig to South Haven. Alright not gonna ramble anymore, let me get to the verdict: Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 10/10 Food: 10/10 For a franchise, this place has QA down to the tee. Over the years I've for the majority of the time whenever I'm out of state, would patronize Jinya Ramen--been to their Denver Union Station locations, Chandler Arizona, Salt Lake City, one of the earliest times was in Vegas, and basically their brand set the tone for what a Franchise ramen could be. And yes, I could taste the lengthy hours here at Kyuramen that were put in to slow cook the richness out of the pork bones; the portions were measured just right so you can savor the soup, the noodles **al dente**, the egg silky custard like, the Chasu **melt in your mouth** and not feel overwhelmed with the entire ensemble. The karaage chicken/ Taiwanese pop-corn chicken was exploding with moisture, it had the right characteristics of popcorn chicken, crispy light with tapioca starch layered on the outside, marinated in 5 spices, and fried to perfection with the right tenderness. The tea was excellent, and the Yakitori platter---- executed surprisingly well. And when you put together the entire experience....Shin-Sen-Gumi Alhambra California needs to pick up some slack because this little joint in the middle of nowhere puts some California Izakayas to shame. So yes, I'd recommend anyone across the state of Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama, all the Japanese execs at Toyota Plant, Nissan Plant and Yuki Kawamura to come and make their pilgrimage....oh wait Yuki signed with the Chicago Bulls, nvm, but yes everyone besides Yuki. これで終わります Kore de owarimasu じゃあね Jaa ne 改天再會!
