The sushi was fantastic. Our waiter was extremely helpful. The desk was where we checked in and the area was full of people but the owner was sitting everyone quickly as possible. There was not a free table during our visit although it was a Friday and everyone needs to be out. The only downside was everyone was talking so having a conversation with our company was had for a hearing loss visitor. I will definitely come back soon. read more

Two visits to Fiji Cafe, both wholly successful! On Christmas Eve, they were slammed but service and food were still good exceptional! For the cost you get an abundance of food. Although not posted in the menu as such, fried rice for the dinner specials is apparently $1 extra now. And the upcharge is not conveyed during the ordering. They just ask steamed or fried rice. But if you say fried when you get the bill you'll see the up charge line itemed. Not sure if that's gonna apply to the lunch specials as well in 2026. It's served in a separate bowl that's heaping full ... but the wait staff's finger was dug deep inside the rice when carrying it. Never saw her before but it was a bit off putting. Super crowded on a Saturday night. Standing room only. Heard one person say best restaurant in town. Just an fyi, I found a bone in one of my sashimi. Never happened before. But just be mindful, especially if giving to your kids or if you're like me and stuff the whole piece in your mouth. In the past we used to come and the Chinese staff and owner were super nice to us. And that was part of the charm of always going back. Kinda like going to Cheers where everybody knows your name. Nowadays it really just seems more like any other business. And so times change. I have lived in Cville for 20+ years and this is my first visit. I am not a sushi eater but heard that their fried rice was good. I decided to give it a try. I walked in and was greeted in about 3-4 minutes. I placed my order for house fried rice. The worker said it would be 5 minutes. Awesome!!! Got my order to go and went home. The rice was average. It wasn't bad but didn't knock my socks off. I would order again in a pinch but there are definitely others that are a bit more tasty. They have the Best fish in Memphis (technically Collierville). Fantastic sushi. Authentic Japanese food provided an excellent team. I come in about once a week, generally Oder the same thing every time and the staff knows before I sit down. It is small, cozy, has large booths for groups. Love the place. I worked at this place when it first opened in the early 2000's. It will forever be my "home" sushi place. The ambiance is simple, but they still have the instrumental version of top 40 hits playing in the background. You still get miso soup. They don't give the hot towels anymore which I really miss. The service is always quick and courteous. I have never once gotten the wrong thing or had a delay on my order there. That's pretty impressive. I've also never had my order come out anything less than perfect- consistency is their strong suit. I moved away years ago and had my favorite roll a few days ago and it tastes exactly the same as it did 10 years ago. We just love Fuji Cafe. We have found the food to always be VERY fresh & tasty. The prices are fair. The waiter & waitress are both warm, attentive, customer oriented & terrific. One of our favorite entrees is the sushi lover meal for 2 people. On the face of it , it seems expensive at close to $46 but the sushi & sashimi are superior & though we both eat until full we leave with a take-out container of sushi for the next night at home. It's been yeeeears since I've been here but it's still really good. I actually have come here quite a few times but for some reason I stopped coming after a while. I think it's because the friends who loved this place all moved away. I recently returned with my mom and had a really pleasant experience so I want to start coming back here more often. This place looks like an authentic Japanese restaurant (or what I would think one would look like). The moment you sit down you get hot towels to wipe your hands with. It's a neat touch. You also get complimentary miso soup. The Sushi Roll Lunch has a ton of food in it, but I found I wasn't as fond of the sushi options. I liked how cool it was since it looked like a bento, but foodwise I'd rather just get a roll or two I'll like instead. Ordered unagi don. it is typically a fillet of unagi but fuji just takes a cup or two of rice and puts pre-cut unagi sashimi on top much like a low fanfare bowl of chirashi with only unagi. hot sake was on the harsher side (but not in an awesome original jinro way). service was good. ambiance was good. there is better japanese in metro memphis. read more

My granddaughter and I stopped in for a sushi date lunch after doing pottery together. First mistake was to assume that my 5 year old granddaughter wasn't "mature" enough to eat sushi.
