The beer here is great! It's a good place to go for appetizers and drinks. The atmosphere is great and we've always had good service. Also, it turns into a little dance club after 10 pm on the weekends-woohoo! I rate this a 3 because I don't find the food to be all that great. Marthas is an absolute staple in downtown Nashua. The outdoor seating is the BEST in Nashua, and the staff is always friendly. I've never had a bad experience here, and we always bring our dog and sit outside in the summer. The new beautification project in Nashua has only made the atmosphere here better. The real reason to go here is for their beer. Marthas brews their own, and my fiancé and are are definitely into craft beer. Theirs is very good, and they always have something new on tap. You can't go wrong with anything you try, and they're always willing to bring you a sample. We aren't cocktail drinkers when we go here, but our friends are, and they've never had a bad one (although they're generally on the sweet side and not very creative). The reason this gets three stars is for the food. It is solidly mediocre. Nothing great here except for their fries - it's pretty basic bar food and can be overpriced. It's not necessarily bad, but again, it isn't great. Overall - I'd recommend this place for a great couple of beers and the outdoor seating, but you might want to have dinner somewhere else first. read more

This place gets one star for the decor and one star for the food. That's about all that was good about it. The beers were warm and the service / management was terrible. I was given the wrong specials list and when I ordered one the bartender came back to tell me it wasn't actually available. Whatever it happens but then she didn't come back to take my actual order for 20 min. We had empty beers while the manager sat on a counter in plain view while all the servers/bartenders talk to each other instead of noticing 50% of the bar had empty drinks. It has been many years since I've been to Nashua and it's turned into a very nice little city. We went to Martha's and we missed happy hour by about five minutes so that was a little disappointing on our part. We sat at a table inside and has a nice waitress with the exception that she was over attentive. It was just a strange feeling. I've been coming here since I was a kid and the service has never let me down! The candy shop in the front is great for the kids, rock candy always brings me back. Waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. Always get superb appetizers and delicious entrees. All in all, a very upstanding establishment with ample seating, great food, fresh brewed beer and all the fudge and toffee you could want. read more

Pass on this one, especially if you're out of town. Four of us (with same authentic out of state ids) were going in when the lady checking the ids broke one of them. The person whose id was broken was then actually shoved by one of the bouncers. To further understand the ridiculousness of the situation, the person's identical twin was let in with his id (obviously same last name, state, and birthday). Poorly managed, rude barstaff, lame music. Went here with a couple of girlfriends for drinks and appetizers. We were seated in front by the window (not by request), and about 10 minutes after our order came, all surrounding tables were moved away and we were sitting in the middle of a dancefloor being stared at by everyone because we were in the way. The waitress then came over with the manager and asked if we wouldn't mind moving to another table, as if we'd known it was going to happen and still insisted on sitting there. We said fine because it was so uncomfortable. The waitress seemed apologetic but the manager was a total stonefaced bulldog. Oh and they actually expected us to carry our own plates over! When we left them to do it themselves they sort of just threw everything on the new table and didn't even apologize for messing up and having seated us there in the first place and disrupting our evening. The waitress herself was a nice girl, so we tipped well since it wasn't her fault. The food was just okay. Decent, if tacky, drink menu. The music on a Saturday night? Unlistenable mash ups spun by what looks like the 45-year-old balding IT guy from your office. The bartenders were unfriendly chicks with scary implants who only paid attention to male customers.. We waited forever for one of them to venture to our side of the bar...and it wasn't busy. If I'm ever out in Nashua again, you won't find me here. read more

I had a few beers at the bar to unwind after visiting Nashua. It was not crowded. Bar service was poor. It was prompt, but it might as well be a vending machine. The bartender asked, "What can I get you?" while staring beyond me at a wall. When I got the bill, the bartender said thank you in a quiet voice while staring in the opposite direction. The service was ice cold. I rather wonder why these people bother working in a service industry. I'll never return. I genuinely felt unwelcome. Frozen beer. Asked for a new one unfrozen and the female bartender was pissed and definitely used expletives when referring to me at the bar. I've been to Martha's several times with friends and am never disappointed. The cocktails are delicious, we tried a couple different summer drinks and lived them. This last time I had the Salmon with baked potatoes and steamed veggies.. yumm.. my friend had the baked scallops, she loved them as well. Martha's is a great place to eat. read more

First, I will comment on the restaurant and then on the "nightclub." The food here is average to below average. I have had the sandwiches at lunch to the jerk chicken at dinner. It seems there was always something wrong with my order and the server never seemed to care. So now onto the nightclub, this place is a mix of Nashua lifer's, some groups from Lowell, and women in their late 50's. So i went there on a saturday night with my friends and i don't drink so I got a ginger ale and a corona for my friend. I opened a tab and did't get anything after the 2 drinks in the beginning. When i closed the tab they had charged me $20.17 so I asked MY bartender what was wrong with it and gave me the receit and it was written 4 coronas and 1 ginger ale. So i asked for the manager and she said she was the manager. She said that this happens all the time, that she wasn't my server!! Lady, i was sober so i think i remember who served me! After some questions that she didn't really appriciate, she kicked us out of the bar!! Are you ok with paying for drinks that you didn't drink? And the "manager" treating you like crap? So i'm heading to Nashua after doing some business in Merrimack. It's 5 pm. I'm planning on dropping in on a lady friend at 6 and surprising her, so I have to kill an hour. I have a craving for tacos at Tacos Colima - my favorite Mexican place in Nashua. I get there - they're closed on Tuesday! So now I have to make another choice. Martha's is near, and I haven't been there in about 10 years. They are major player in downtown Nashua, and have been instrumental in turning around the downtown area over the years. I saw a great band there one night. I go in and find a seat down at the end of the bar. I immediately notice the middle aged men bartenders I remember from 10 years ago have been replaced with very attractive 20 something women. A lovely blond haired woman quickly notices me and asks what I'd like. I tell her I'm just having a quick beer and would like some bread to go with it, if possible, and will pay for it if necessary, because I'm not getting dinner. "No problem!" she says. I get an Octoberfest Lager, which they brew right in house. A few minutes later, the bartender returns with a basket of rolls and some herb/oil dipping sauce. She introduces herself - her name is Olivia. I'm quickly struck by her friendly, professional style, that is delivered in kind of low keyed way - which is my favorite mode for restaurant help. She is quite busy, moving back and forth between different groups at the bar, but is keeping all her customers well supplied and happy. The beer is good, the rolls help, the bartender is outstanding, and all of a sudden I'm having a great time. I decide, well, the hell with my plans, I'm saying here and getting food. I order the chicken quesadillas. I'm bantering back and for now and then with Olivia and having a wonderful time - and wishing I was 20 years younger!! The quesadillas are great - full of excellent grilled chicken, onions, peppers, and 2 types of cheese. I have 3 beers, not realizing the micro brew beer is a little stronger, and I realize it's now 8 pm, and time to fly. Olivia is very gracious when I leave, and I thank her for the excellent service and wonderful time. Near the exit, they have a counter with chocolates you purchase by the pound. Another stunningly beautiful woman is near it, at the cash register, and quickly sees me eyeing the goodies. "Can I temp you with dessert?" As soon as she started talking, and I realized I was dealing with another beautiful, but down to earth and pleasingly friendly woman, I almost blurted out - "honey, you could sell me a bag of rocks!". Where Olivia has the look of organically fed country girl next door, Katie had more the look of a runway model - minus the attitude. So I'm pleasantly shocked again - being treated like a king by someone I just met. I'm a little buzzed from the 3 beers, and well, very happy. I say to Katie - "You know, I have to report you to the government as being a dangerous and potentially addictive drug!". She laughs and says "wow, that's a pretty good pickup line!". We both laugh, I mumble something else, buy some sweets, and hit the road. The food and beer were very good - a solid four star rating. Olivia and Katie, with their very friendly, excellent service, pushed the experience into five star territory with ease. A key point - I went in to have a quick beer and hit the road. The excellent help created an atmosphere for me that made me stay longer, cancel my plans, and spend a lot more money. Moral of the story - it's not just the food, the people waiting on you are almost as important. This is another classic example of why I always say a good restaurant/bar is far more valuable to a neighborhood than a church. And you can pray in Martha's - I know I did! read more

Atmosphere- think of a new brew house with a big bar, now think of one that is 20 years old with no upkeep- yep, that's it, except tear our a wall or two to expand. So disappointed with Martha's Exchange tonight. We arrived at 7:15pm and immediately knew our waitress was new. It took them 20 minutes to greet us, 40 mins to get an appetizer (and it was missing some items when it finally arrived) and another hour to get our food. About 30 mins into waiting for food the manager came over to say the pizza we ordered didnt exist on the menu anymore. We were there 2 hours!!! And we only ordered an app, pizza and salad. Worst part is, the "manager" came over and apologized. She had to take care of things for our waitress 2x and nothing on our bill was comped. Not sure if we'll go back. read more

The food and the beer isn't bad...pretty much what you would expect to find at any brewpub type place. But the service across the board (from several different waitresses and bar tender) was apathetic and slow at best, and bordering on rude at times. And we weren't there on a particularly busy. At one point one of the waitresses even snapped at us when we asked if the candy counter was still open for sale. That was the general demeanor and tone from the hostess, the bar tender and the wait staff. The waitress for our table was very slow and most of the time acted disinterested and often like we were bothering her. You won't hate the food and the beer, but just don't expect a ton in the service department. I won't make the trip back. read more

As a newbie to the State of NH, I had my first Nashua experience this past Saturday. Cute town. My husband and I spotted an outdoor restaurant that seemed to be busy. And busy = good, right? Hmm. There were about 20 outdoor tables and a hostess stand with menus and silverware. We went inside because there was clearly no one outside to seat us. The hostess inside said that the outdoor tables were "seat yourself'. Ok, a sign would have been nice - because on our way in, someone tried to snake the only table that was available. So we grabbed our own menus and silverware and had a seat. About 10min later, a waitress came up to us and asked us about drinks. I ordered a Mojoito and my husband a Corona, with a LEMON, specifically. He said to me as the drinks were being made, "how much you wanna bet it comes back with a lime?" And it did. My mojitio looked good, I took a sip and almost spit it back out, literally. It was clearly made from mojito flavored rum. The mint/lime/sugar was NOT muddled. And there was about 2-3 shots too many of rum in the drink, almost making it undrinkable (unless I was 22 and was making it a point of getting wasted). I asked a woman behind me who had one too - she said hers was obnoxiously strong as well. I told the waitress and she said that the bartender did not use mix and that she would take back the drink for me. I said it was OK, and that I would let the ice mellow out the booze in the drink, which it did - but it still tasted like - fake. Nothing beats a bartender (like myself) who knows how to make a REAL Mojitio! We ordered the grilled sweet potato wedges to share, I ordered the Crabcake Salad and my husband the peppers/onlines burger. Sweet potatos were OK. A little too heavy on the white sauce they put on them though. My husbands burger was OK, fries were good he said. My salad was a total let down. When I order a $12 salad, Im thinking Im getting a monster salad with tons of lettuce, veggies etc. Wrong. This thing was puny. I remember the menu clearly stating "fresh shrimp" as well, so I made it a point to grab a menu and look and it indeed did say "Fresh Shrimp and Crabcakes over a bed of......" Ok, so in my eyes, there should have been shrimp on the salad, but when I asked the waitress what the scoop was she said "ohh - there is shrimp IN the crabcakes" Thats a bit misleading, no? Shouldnt it say "crabcakes made with shrimp and crab, served over a bed of.." there were 4 crabcakes all about silver dollar size. They were OK. I couldnt make out the shrimp though. We finished our food, and when the bill came over, the lovely waitress said that she took off my drink for me because she noticed I had only taken a few sips out of it. I thanked her and gave her a 30% tip when we paid our bill. If this place wants to keep customers (and by customers, I dont mean people that just come in and spend money, I mean people that actually LOVE the establishment and all that comes with it) - they better take a look at what is going on. The food was decent, the drink was meant for a 22yr old kid trying to get wasted. The menu is misleading and boring. read more

have to downgrade my review. No reflection on Beer or Food but one of the wait staff was so obnoxious I felt I needed to make a statement. Was there Friday night with my lady ... took a spot at the bar. Eventually this lady bartender comes over and asks was we would like and I ordered a beer my girl a sample. Didn't get her name but dark hair, fairly tall, appears to work out as was wearing a "wife beater" tee showing off her muscles. So we will call her Miss Buff So if someone orders a sample one would think the bartender would come back to ask what you want. Well after a while Miss Buff did. zzzzz We get food menus and wait and wait and wait. The most annoying this is that Miss Buff positioned herself in the cross over section of the bar keeping other bartenders to getting to the side we were on. We could see the other bartender trying to see if we need help etc but this other girl was rather intimidating. Ok enough we finally order and had a point of joy at 7:30 Miss Buff got her stuff and left. the other staff immediately saw to us and apologized for the delay. My lady and I assumed Miss Buff must be salary as she certainly didn't care about tips or even customer service for that fact. Impromptu walk in party of 8 or 9 last week. Was not impressed with this restaurant. I had high hopes for it. The decor is nice on the inside. Very inviting and a good layout for small parties. Not that great for larger parties (8 or more). I was also not happy with some of the beer. The quality was good, but it was not to my taste (no factor for the mark down). The one exception was the 24th Anniversary Ale. It was very good. Dinner was disappointing. I ordered the surf and turf pasta (not on the main menu). It tasted pretty "canned" and only had the turf. No surf. Unfortunately it had also taken a considerable amount of time to get, so I didn't notice until I was most of the way through it. I understand how busy a kitchen can get when a larger group pops in unannounced, but it wasn't very busy for a Tuesday night. At the end of the meal the waitress brought one check (when it was pretty obvious we would be separate). We asked if she could break it up, but she kind of sighed and in the end took evenly split checks (which really screwed some of us). Overall, not the best experience. There wasn't a "gotcha" moment, but little things here and there. read more

Worst service I've had. I was seated at the bar this past weekend and it took almost 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge us. She was very friendly once she finally realized that we were there to eat and drink. We tried two of the house brews and they were ok, but nothing exciting. The food was normal bar food. The biggest problem we had is that our bartender disappeared. We wanted 2 waters after about 10 minutes of eating and she was no where to be found. What made me angry was when I spilled my beer and no one was there to even notice. What I disliked even more was that an employee/friend of employee was sitting at the bar NEXT TO US and didn't even say anything/get help etc., but once their employee/friend of employee friend had another friend show up they moved down the bar to chat it up. I know the employee that they moved seats to sit next to worked there since she went behind the bar to get an item. I understand it was around shift change. I was in the restaurant industry for over 15 years. I get it, but if you go off shift, you need to notify your guests, and the incoming bartender of what checks are open and the status. Also, employees should not be drinking at the bar, and if they are, make it the backside of the bar where patrons who aren't getting the best service can see you. (so kudos to the one worker who did that). I would not recommend this place. read more

I wouldn't recommend the food here. I get it, this is a well established restaurant/bar in Nashua; lots of patrons are pre-programmed to frequent here. I've been to Martha's several times over the last 5 years. Every visit the food is worse than the previous visit. All the food seems like it was purchased not made from scratch but the price point is set as if you are getting fresh, made from scratch. More often than not the servers are friendly and the coffee tastes great. Unfortunately, the food is expensive AND awful. read more

I think the food at Martha's has improved a great deal over the last few years. They offer a lot of healthy alternatives, very nice appetizers, great panini's, great choice of salads. The have remodeled and the interior keeps improving, but I don't ever think that the men's bathroom will ever work. I do love going there with my wife and son on occasion. It's lively, you can choose a healthy dish, their beers are good, martinis will never beat Giorgio's. I had an interesting experience with my family today and because of it have decided never to go back. The waitress was very nice, but I wouldn't say she was dead on either. My 12 year old son ordered a cheesburger with fries. Not expensive and the burger was cooked to his liking, but when he received his order we noticed there were a total of 10 french fries. They looked like the tiny, crusty pieces from the bottom of the bag that are over fried and too dry. We mentioned it nicely to the waitress. A minute later she comes back and tells us sir that is the standard "3 ounce portion" we serve. Kids like fries better than burgers. Usually I don't care, but when servers start talking to me about serving sizes in "ounces" something is wrong. I'm thinking to myself - "you got to be kidding me". So I don't blame the waitress and I could tell if it was up to her she would have brought out a few more. I still gave her a great tip, because she's a working girl and none of this is her fault. I think for the bad karma occured when the manager approached us. I asked her if she wanted to step aside where there weren't patrons sitting by. Apparently she didn't care. She started talking ounces again. "The standard portion is 8 ounces - I would have had to see your plate - blah - blah - blah". I could tell she was looking at me like I had horns on my head. I told her that this was kind of silly. The point is - when you run a restaurant - and your patrons like your food but have a tiny issue. Take care of them, especially if they are repeat customers and come in and spend $75 - $100 a pop. Fries cost nothing. Don't start talking to them in ounces - because I as a customer don't need to hear that they are cutting corners by providing 8 ounces of fries with a sandwich or hamburger. You can have that discussion internally with your staff and that can be the way you approach that, but when 1 out of 5 customers feels slighted - go out of your way and give there child a few more fries. She started talking about the "thicker cut" of fries and have we noticed. Aaaghhh, no we didn't they look like standard bar fries to me. Actually worse, small, dry and withered away. read more

Jan 2015. Was doing some errands with my parents when we were all getting hungry so decided to pop into Martha's. My mom has not been here for many years now so she was hoping the food would be better then the years ago she was there. I ordered the lamb salad, dad ordered the chicken pot pie, and mom ordered a bowl of the chicken masala soup. She was not impressed at all with the soup and exchanged it for the corn chowder, which she still did not enjoy. All of the times she has been there she has gotten soup and never had a bowl or cup she liked. I enjoyed my lamb and my dad enjoyed his pie. The drinks and entrees seem great but soup is not up to par. I would recombined an entree over the soup. Not sure what is missing in them, maybe a little more practice. The service was great and very attentive to waters. I would come back here. Every time I see the Seafood Parpadelle on the menu I always want to try it. Next dinner outing I shall. read more
