Love this spot. We go during the week early and buy a drink... ANY DRINK and you can help yourself to whatever food offering they have for that day for FREE. We have been on taco night where you can make as many soft or hard shell tacos you like, we have been on pasta night where you can have a chef cook you up pasta at a pasta station anyway you like it. I have brought friends on wing and rib night... and you guessed it free wings and ribs. Is the food 5 star quality, not the free stuff, but it is fresh, checked often and very good, just as good as what I would cook at home and here I have no clean up. We have ordered quite a few items from the menu and all have been cooked well and are good. Service at the bar and the tables has been exceptional. Even the other patrons here are nice and fun to chat with. I have been to a lot of hotel restaurants and most are disappointing, this is not. We live locally and are happy to come here over all the other spots we could go to. The bartender Brian makes simply the best martinis that I have had in a very long time!! Order one! read more

We checked in fairly late, but the concierge mentioned the bar was serving food for a few more hours. The "area magazine" in the room had a great review, so why not grab a beer and some apps? Lori and Ivan were at the bar and seemed bored. They were attentive but didn't take their boredom out on us or the other 4 patrons who came in and out while we were there. We ordered the Chips on recommendation of the review. Definitely homemade, and great quality, but they didn't need all the crap that was all over them, and the dipping sauce had an overpowering amount of horseradish. Really, they could have given us a dressed up ketchup or similar, at least in addition. We also got an order of Seared Ahi Tuna--the seaweed salad was a VERY nice addition and really made the dish stand out. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back, but if I'm staying in the area again, I know I can get a descent meal and drink. read more

This would barely be an acceptable free continental breakfast at, like, Econo Lodge. But $12.99 for cold powdery eggs, and French toast sticks that are still almost frozen? Even my 3-year-old wouldn't eat any of it, and the kid's buffet was $8.99. Cold coffee that never got refilled.. our server was a perfectly nice kid but had too many tables to give us decent service. I didn't expect much from the restaurant - the decor was o.k. and kind of bland/sports bar-ish - but my husband and I were very pleasantly surprised. There is a large menu and the food was very good - my husband had the chili, which was mild but you could taste the seasoning, which is often not the case in this area, and I had steamed mussels which were a bargain and very good as well. The sweet potato fries, which we shared, were excellent. I had the cordial desert which was a generous amount of Baileys and very nice vanilla ice cream where you could actually taste the vanilla! Our waitress was very nice and came over to ask how everything was, etc. I was also very impressed by the nice way they treated us when they could not honor a Groupon we had purchased three years prior (the restaurant had changed owners and they didn't have access to the information they needed). The manager himself came over and was very apologetic, which actually wasn't necessary as we knew we'd receive a credit from Groupon, we told him not to worry about it. He explained that for the first year or so they had honored the Groupons anyway, and also comped us our desert which was nice. I thought it was nice that he took the time to come over and speak with us. It's not a gourmet or "foodie"-type restaurant, but for what it is, I thought it was very good value, very good food, and very pleasant. The Manager of Shades comes across has rude and uncaring towards the customers. Unlike the employees who came up to me and other guest and asked how do you like the new place and food. The Manager paid no attention anyone. It was like he could careless about anyone. I did see him yell at few employees on the floor. Totally unprofessional. read more

I expected (albeit foolishly perhaps) to get an initial taste of creative, delectable cuisine from Radisson Hotel's executive chef, but I was disappointed overall. Here's what the 3 of us ordered: French dip sandwich (no complaints) Macaroni and cheese with chicken (Chicken was undercooked and rubbery. My fiance isn't typically picky but hardly ate it.) Shrimp Fra Diavolo (Suggested by the waitress- was just okay. It tasted like canned tomato sauce mixed with Tabasco.) And to top it off the service was deliberate and unpleasant. I give 2 stars because the food was half-decent. Otherwise, zero stars would be my rating for this 'bar' & grill. sure they have booze and beer on tap....that is where 'bar' ends in my experience. For starters, the happy hour and daily specials advertised in the hotel did not always take place. They honored it the first evening, but not the rest of the week. The bartenders version of 'the best Manhattan' was basically bourbon and a cherry. it was a LOT of bourbon so it was 'fine' but shouldn't be called a Manhattan. The rest of the staff was content to stand around and pick fun at one another while other customers were waiting. There were several occasions while we sat AT the bar where a manager was present....and actually talking to us, while our beers sat empty. Not a single consideration to ask if we would like another. Waiters had a clear line of responsibility drawn and while they would pour beers for their tables, wouldn't cover for the bar tender while she had to run bartender errands....and for some reason had to leave the bar unmanned while a waiter stood around. Clearly they are used to a transient customer base where less than mediocre service is acceptable because after a few nights a new crowd comes in. read more

This review is based on two recent visits to Shade Bar & Grill, located inside of the Radisson Hotel in Nashua. This is the hotel restaurant, which serves breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. The atmosphere inside is modern with table seating, booths, and seating at the full service bar. There are several TVs and also a buffet station which is used for such activities as Sunday brunch and the express lunch salad & soup bar (weekdays). The menu offers pub fare including appetizers, sandwiches, burgers, salads, soups, dinner entrees, pasta, flatbread pizzas, and more. The prices are moderate, most items $10 and up. The bar offers a full drink menu and several beers on tap. They offer Happy Hour (Mon-Fri 4:30pm-6:30pm) with special free buffets in the bar with drink purchase: Potato Skin Bar (Mon), Chef Carved Steamship Round (Tue), Pasta Bar (Wed), Mexican Madness (Thu), and TGIF (Wing, Ribs, Corn Bread & Chili (Fri)). VISIT A: I stopped here on a Saturday afternoon for an early dinner. The place was pretty busy because there was a convention at the hotel. I was seated near the bar. I ordered The Full Monty ($10.49 with Sweet Potato Fries & Pickle and an ice water. The food arrived in about 20 minutes after ordering. The presentation was sloppy, the food thrown together and fries all over the plate. The sandwich was okay, which was a classic monte cristo with shaved ham, turkey and Swiss cheese on very soft egg batter dipped texas toast. The sweet potato fries were very good, hot, crispy outside, soft inside. The service was very hectic and delayed since the waitress had several tables. I did not receive a refill on the ice water (glass too small). This visit would be 2 STARS. VISIT B: I stopped here on a Wednesday afternoon for the Pasta Bar Happy Hour. I ordered a pint of Bud Light ($2.50 HH special on draft). There was a Pasta Bar set up next to the bar, attended by a chef who prepared made to order pasta dishes on small appetizer plates. The choices of ingredients included steak, chicken, seafood (shrimp & scallops), green peppers, red peppers, onions, mushrooms, asparagus, fresh garlic, pesto, marinara sauce, alfredo sauce, fettuccine, casserole elbows, and buttered garlic bread. I enjoyed three plates of made to order pasta goodness, prepared hot, fresh, and tasty by the chef. Also for dinner, I ordered a Turkey Burger ($9.99) with Sweet Potato Fries & Pickle. The food arrived to my seat at the bar in about 10 minutes. The entree this time was presented neatly, burger served open faced. This turkey burger was very standard, but good, with a firm grilled ground turkey patty on a butter grilled ciabatta roll, topped with romaine lettuce, tomato, red onion and canola mayonnaise. The sweet potato fries were very good again! I was very full after eating plenty of food with my cold Bud Light. The service on this visit was prompt and courteous, much better than the previous Saturday afternoon visit. The bar was not very busy either. The bill came out to $13.39 with tax and before tips (for bartender & pasta station chef). This visit would be 4 STARS. For now, this place gets 3 STARS between the two separate visits to Shade Bar & Grill. I will try out the other special Happy Hour food offerings soon. read more

Firstly let me just say that if it were possible to give zero stars, I would. I had high hopes for this establishment. But the potential of what it "could be" does not translate into reality. I visited yesterday (6/27/13) with a group of co-workers during their Happy Hour and we were anything but happy. We all sat together at a table, a few people were able to order drinks, and then the waiter just vanished without asking the rest of the table if they wanted anything. We figured okay well maybe he had to bring something to another table real quick. Real quick turned into half an hour. It took 40 minutes to get one glass of wine and an order of the mussels. The mussels were completely inedible. They were dry, mealy and totally devoid of any flavor at all. The Caesar salad that accompanied my meal was at least fresh, but rendered inedible, as the entire plate was swimming in dressing. I asked for a second glass of wine, about an hour into my visit, not for lack of wanting one but that is when we could flag down our non-existent waiter. This time, after waiting another 40 minutes someone in our party addressed the manager, as this lack of service was experienced by all. He did promptly come to the table with our waiter in tow, and asked me what the issue was. When I said I had been waiting for my second glass of wine for the last 40 minutes, he then told me that I was mistaken, it was my third glass of wine and they had already brought it me. I explained to them, that was absolutely not the case, and the table told them we hadn't even seen the waiter that entire time. The waiter then actually said to me "are you sure, because I brought it to you!" I couldn't believe it. So not only was there complete lack of service (the worst I have ever had) but then he was so incredible rude and told me it was me who was mistaken. In the end, the Manager finished serving us, he did take the charge for the mussels off of my bill, but most if not all of us will not be going back there. We promptly left and spent our money elsewhere. read more

I can't honestly understand any of these reviews... Did they spend 40 and expect 500 level food? This is by far the nicest hotel and bar till Boston. Staff? Really? I was waited on by Alessandra and what else could you want? A beautiful and friendly Italian woman who didn't chat to get tips but did her job? I'm so confused. The manager tonight was great and so was the other staff. Food is good. Beer selection is good ( amber on tap) And staff is 5+ stars. Well pretty much all the reviews here are true (good and bad). We went here for dinner for nostalgic reasons (long story) and we have been going to the various restaurants in this hotel for 33 years or so on and off. Thought we'd try the latest attempt. The place has a lot of promise. Nice interior. It has an interesting menu for a sports bar--lots of variety and some items that are more like you'd expect at a restaurant. The people working there are nice and well meaning. They also have a nice beer selection including beer from the brew pub downtown. Unfortunately the execution is where the place will let you down. Most of the dishes were cooked improperly. Scallops overcooked to hockey puck strength. Sliders were supposed to be medium rare (hey they asked) but they were closer to well done. My potato skins were not pre-baked so they were limp and soggy. My wife had the wings which didn't have crispy skin--it was flabby (although the meat inside was done). The calamari was also underdone so that the breading was greasy, but the good news was that they weren't tough from overcooking ;-) The tuna looked cooked properly cooked but only rated an "ok" on my sashimi loving wife's scale. Like other folks mentioned the wait staff was pretty scarce. We were the only people in the restaurant at 6PM on a Saturday and we were frequently literally the only people in the room--the entire wait staff and even the bar tender would disappear for 15-20 minutes at a time. I don't think it was neglect; I am pretty sure they double as the room service delivery staff for this large hotel. When they were around they were pleasant and helpful. For a hotel bar, the food is surprisingly good! I ordered a lobster roll and onion rings. I was very skeptical at first about ordering lobster from a Radisson hotel. But it went above and beyond my expectations. It was very tasty and the lobster was fresh. It was also very reasonably priced. The only thing I can complain about is it didn't come with lemon, but when I asked they obviously fulfilled my request. The onion rings were very good too! Light and crispy -- perfectly fried! Not oily or overcooked like many bar's onion rings are. Overall I was extremely satisfied with my meal. I ordered a Budweiser with my food. It's my beer of choice, but they offered a really large and great selection of other beers too. The atmosphere is really great. Very classy and modern looking and they have a whole bunch of brand new flat screen TVs and are always playing a number of different games. Overall, Shade was fabulous and really impressed me. There really isn't anything bad about the food, but there is also nothing memorable about it either. The entire evening seemed like we were waiting for a drink, or wondering what was wrong with our waiter. The lobster bake was a bit watery, and just was not the right consistency. My family and I went to Shade for dinner and to watch Sunday football. The atmosphere was fabulous. All of the waitresses were super helpful, attentive and engaging. I can't say enough about our waitress Kate! She was awesome. The kids loved their burger and chicken strips. I had the French onion soup and it was great. My husband liked his fish and chips, which is saying a lot considering we are from Alaska and we are self described fish snobs. I had the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo which tasted great but the sauce was broken. That's the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars. Not sure why the negative reviews, i went to Shade afew months back on a saturday afternoon and had a lovely time, our waitress was friendly and talkative, and knowledgeable about the food and what was good and what wasn't, the chairs are probably some of the best chairs i've ever sat on in a restaurant ever, and the food was incredible. Though I will admit it was a slight bit on the higher end of the price scale, and except for the chicken wings, which if they were smart they'd use all four flavors they have as their signature dish, everything else is abit of small for the prices, and i will admit the manager was abit, hover-y, but overall, i had a lovely time and will happily go back again. Seriously, if you haven't, try the chicken wings, they'll make all the small issues with the place go away, they're that good. read more

(this review was written during the covid time) We chose Shade due to the inability of most NH restaurants being able to deal with a party of more then 6. we attempted several before being told that they would accommodate our party of 8. Providing we keep the required distance. The place was empty for the most part. At time of entry there were perhaps 6 other ppl aside from our party. Mike was the host, bartender, waiter, and spokesman. He took our drink order, food order, and kept us entertained for the 2+ hours we occupied his space. Mike made it feel like a home. We had stayed at this hotel several times before, but not this time, due to a deal we received up the road a bit. we ordered appetizers and some basic food. Mike brought our food our onetime and it was delicious and hot. The place kept getting more and more crowded as the night progressed. He told us on several occasions when we "pushed" the limits of social distancing that we had to comply, which we did. Although the rules were designed to keep us apart, Mike made us feel as if we were a total group. We will be returning to "Mike" on our next trip to NH read more

Living nearby I want to love it, I just can't. Inconsistent food quality, fluctuating customer service are my two complaints. One night after appetizers and drinks we ordered the French dip to share. I requested an extra au jus and the bartender was told that was not allowed from the kitchen. My boyfriend refuses to go back after our last visit he was served a martini in a dirty glass. Some of the staff are great, some it would appear your nothing but a bother to them. Truly, I would give them a two and a half stars if that were an option. read more

I agree with the other reviews, the place looks promising, but it stops there. My friend and I stopped in on a Thursday afternoon around 3:30pm to watch a world cup game. No one was around to greet us, so we sat ourselves at the bar. They were advertising on their website and with signs outside that they'd be showing the game, but only 1 of the 15 TVs had the game on, and the audio box was not catching the sound of that one TV. The server came in a few minutes later, and we asked if she could do anything about the audio. She rudely said that she is not allowed to change the channels or volume, so there was nothing she could do. She also said that she does not have control over what goes on the website, and it is not her fault that the website had a basically false advertisement. She left us with menus and water and didn't come back for another few minutes. We asked to speak to the manager, so he came in, and we explained that we just wanted to watch and listen to the game, again, as advertised. He pretended to care, tried to work with audio box to see if it would catch the audio of the game - which was about to start - and kept making small talk. After waiting another few minutes, and already missed the opening, we just decided to leave and watch the game at home. We never actually ordered any food or drinks, so I can't comment on that, but the service was horrible. I would only go back if there was no one other option. read more

I was staying at the at the Raddison for a work conference and Shade was the only dining option on site. Service was terrible and slow, especially during the day. The waitress took 10 minutes to bring us menus. Bar service was only slightly better. Yes they have 20 beers on tap but they were always out of 3 or 4 and the bartenders didn't know what the happy hour specials were. Poor service, high prices, and OK food - other than that it was perfect! In spite of poor reviews I decided to eat breakfast in the Radisson Hotel restaurant. Bad choice. I should have had a clue when I was the only one there in the restaurant at 7 AM. Even though I was the only one there the waiter ignored me do 10 minutes before taking my order then it took 20 minutes for the food to come out. Really? How long does it take to make an omelette? When it came out the omelette was ok, the toast was dry and that's about it. It cost about $13 including the coffee which was only filled up once in 45 minutes. I would have gotten the buffet but it was $13 plus tax for a meager buffet you would get for free at any Quality Inn. I could have gotten better food cheaper at Waffle House, in half the time. For sure skip the restaurant. (Shade bar and grill). Maybe skip the Radisson altogether! read more

The service was bad....had to seat ourselves and only one bartender who was trying to do everything. Took us 15 min to get his attention.. The calamari appetizer was okay but extremely small amount for the price. The two salads we ordered, grilled romain and cesaer salad were so blah they were barely edible. Two cocktails that didn't seem to have any alcohol and a beer (which was good) for a total of $65. Staying the week at the hotel it's located in.....but won't be going back to this bar/restaurant. Not enough help We were staying over at the Radisson after a wedding. The wedding guests reserved 30+ rooms. In prior conversations, the hotel had known we chose it for the restaurant for after the wedding. We got to the hotel and there were 4 empty buses (yikes) and the lobby was full of young athletes staying over for some kind of tournament.....no problem they were all too young to go to the bar. Then we walked to the bar and there was a wedding with what looked like 300 people....then we went to the bar. Initially there was one very slow bartender and then a second slow one was added. The first one was a little testy...she was definitely overwhelmed. There were two servers, and after waiting 20 minutes to get waited on I saw this young waitress bring drinks to another table and I went over and asked her if she could take our drink order and deliver it to our table. She said no we have to go through the bar. So 10 minutes later a waiter came out and he obliged us and we also ordered some appetizers. UGH! Then, when we were getting ready to leave I did not see the waiter and once again went to the waitress and asked her if she could get our check and she said no she was not our server and we would have to look for him! Really? She was useless....NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!! And...I saw members of management come to the restaurant and see the lines but I guess they didn't care.....too bad..... read more

It's ok, but they changed their happy hour policy Every weekday from I believe 4:30-6:30 or 5:30-7:30, not exactly sure they have appetizers you can get with your alcohol, it used to be you could order any beverage, but now the policy you MUST, Yes- Must order alcohol, as someone who almost never drinks I don't like this policy. They have also changed it from unlimited food to only seconds only, you can only go up twice. Even before they had this policy I avoided going up as many times as I wanted as not to abuse it, people would come just for the food, as did I. read more

The bartender was not impressive and when we complained about having fruit flies attacking us and wanting to move to a table to avoid the bombardment she answered by telling us that she'd have to insist we pay our tab first. We were seated without drink orders. The manager came by and took drink & apps orders about 20-30 minutes later. All drinks were empty and appetizers finished long before he returned. He said he'd bring us a second round of drinks and return with paper & pen for the food order. A new waitress beat him to it. She had come on duty early, and stepped in to help. Kudos to her. She took our order and the manager returned in the middle of it to much laughter.... with paper and pen. Finally, once the new waitress took the order things moved at a decent pace to get the food out to us. We ate.... and waited another 20 minutes after all food was done to see a check. This review is for breakfast. Went there on a Sunday morning and got the breakfast buffet. Our party (5 people) walked in and sat at a booth and had to wait a good 10 mins for someone to even come over and offer coffee, which was not good coffee. We went to the buffet and it was just NOT good. The quality was "ok..."maybe 2.5 out of 5 stars...but the lack of attention to it by anyone there was bad. They had no bacon left, no ketchup, no syrup. No one seemed to be checking the buffet for freshness or what things needed attention. We had to ask them to refill stuff and wait a while for it. The pancakes were not good. Service was not great either. This should not be a $13.00 per person buffet. Just bad all around. read more

Sign said seat yourself. I did and waited and waited. Finally I went to the bar and asked for a menu. After that a waitress showed up and took my order. I asked for lemon water. The lemon wedge was tiny and I was given no napkin so after squeezing the lemon i couldn't dry my hands. The waitress was nice and food was brought out quickly. The clam chowder had lots of class and potatoes and was thick, but had a bitter/sour taste to it. The chicken parm was excellent. It had a side of pasta with red sauce that was very average. The side of fries didn't show up until 10min after my entree showed up and the waitress apologized. Was average modern bar decor and very loud due to a party that was at the hotel. Jeez, the service went down hill quickly! Not worth the visit. I wasn't too impressed with my first visit 2 months ago. I found it loud, overpriced, and nothing on the menu worth mentioning. But I chalked my experience up as average and took it for what it was - a hotel bar in Nashua trying to be a swanky lounge. So I revisited the establishment with friends and co-workers yesterday but was absolutely shocked. It was by far the worst experience I have had anywhere, ever. Imagine being stuck in a nightmare that loops over and over where the waiter avoids you, you can't get a drink or food even with reminders, and you want it to end but it doesn't. I waited 1 hour for my appetizer (homemade potato chips) no plates to share with friends, 30 minutes for my first beer, which was gone before the app. (I could never get the waiter for a 2nd beer). Sadly, it wasn't just me. Our entire group had trouble getting their food and drinks. We spoke with the manager and he tried to help but things just got worse. The waiter claimed he brought everything, made excuses to cover his rear, and was absolutely rude. Imagine being bitched slapped after paying way too much and waiting way too long for something. At that point we just wanted to get out of there as quickly as possibly. But it took another 25 minutes to get the bill and settle up. The problem: Inexperienced and poorly trained wait staff, and terrible management. The best thing for this bar: To be remodeled again under new management and staff. read more
