The staff is cheerful and attentive which makes for a welcoming experience. The place is clean and a laid back atmosphere. Love the leather couches and chais and the fireplace gives the place a nice touch. Thanks Maxamillians!

Great place to hang out with friends when it's pretty low key. I've never been here where the crowd has been too much or too loud.

It was very good like always and TSQ had a coupon for a free app if you are part of their loyalty program. That was awesome! I got my usual which at this location comes out hot, Salem, NH not so much - Baked Tortellini Bolognese which the menu details as: Braised short rib, sweet Italian sausage, whipped ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan cheese. The wait staff was very accommodating with our need to split the bill across multiple cards and double checked who was on which check before we were ready to pay. Our food came out reasonably quick after ordering. I had ordered the steak tips and substituted the mashed potatoes with the Parmesan fries. The fries were good by pub standards, though they either weren't recently cut or they were frozen. The broccoli was pretty overcooked and lacking seasoning. The steak itself came out cooked a perfect medium rare (as requested). The only issue with the steak is that it was lacking tenderness. Good quality steak tips should be tender when cooked medium rare and these had a few tough pieces that had to be cut around. Overall it's a reasonable amount and quality of food for the price paid. Service was great and the restaurant was quiet, clean and enjoyable to be in.

Imagine you're at home on a rainy Wednesday evening. The clouds are bleak like your mood, so you…read moredon't really feel like cooking. You insouciantly scroll through your Yelp feed, not particularly sure what you have an appetite for because making decisions is about as difficult as adulting. This, ladies and gentlemen, is my wife to a T. Although, she highlighted this place to me and I was instantly hooked - so, I can't complain too much. Now, it isn't clear to us how long this place has been in our midst. But judging from the lack of photos, I'm willing to bet that it's either not yet well known enough or it's a fairly new place. In any case, O'Brien's Sports Bar deserves far more recognition than it's getting at the time of me reviewing this. I've been to plenty of Irish pubs. Some good, some rather meh. I've only tried one meal so far. But based on that, plus the copious menu selection, I can already tell you O'Brien's is possibly the best Irish pub I've tried food from in a long while. I was quite disappointed when they permanently closed down Waxy O'Connor's in Lexington. But I believe O'Brien's will be a more than suitable replacement to satisfy my yearning for Irish cuisine. So, as the intro infers, we ordered take-away via DoorDash, of all things. Which implores me to bring up this caveat: there's a vast difference between ordering from DoorDash versus what's actually available on the O'Brien's menu via their website. Basically, DoorDash represents a severely gutted version of their menu, in my opinion. Certain items, you just can't order from DoorDash...for SOME reason. A few examples include: the seafood chowder, chicken marsala, and pretty much any burger that's more complex than your traditional cheese burger. Not really a ding against the restaurant itself. I'm just ranting here to state that I really hate DoorDash sometimes. They're as overpriced as they are underequipped. /endrant Anywho, I kept things simple this evening and tried the fish n' chips. Upfront, I gotta tell ya....they give you a shitload of fish! Like...at least 10 to 12 ounces (or 6 huge nuggets), if I had to guess. And whilst the fish itself was delicious and meaty, the batter could have benefited from some type of seasoning. Let's just say...this is the type of fish that requires tartar sauce. Oh, speaking of which.. I didn't get any tartar sauce with my order. No idea why. But it's a good thing we always keep some at the house (and it's the fancy kind, too). Now, their chips are like nothing I've ever seen. The best way I could describe them is....well seasoned boomerang fries. Hey, I don't care WHAT shape they are, so long as they're tasty as hell! Overall, the dish gets an 8 out of 10, despite them forgetting the tartar sauce. We've already decided we'll dine in at this place apropos for a date night. I mean, based on our DoorDash experience, it seems clear to us this will be the only way to experience their complete menu. And I've already got my eyes on the aforementioned chowder, chicken marsala, and/or one of their delicious looking burgers. And then maybe, just MAYBE...we can get some more photos onto their page already. I have a feeling this rating may get adjusted upon revisit. But for now, I'm giving O'Brien's Sports Bar 4 gigantic fish nuggets with tasty boomerang fries out of 5.

The Brussels Sprouts and Lemon Caper Risotto that came with the salmon was just as exceptional as the salmon, and the street corn and real mashed potatoes that came with my wife's steak tips were also delicious, and of course the steak tips are always good! We have both been talking about our meals since we left the restaurant, both meals were excellent, and the best we have ever had, not that their other meals aren't good, but these 2 plates were top notch. We also enjoyed the Arronchini Balls, would recommend them as an appetizer as well. We love O'Brien's Sports Bar, it is one of our favorite places in downtown Nashua!

BUT for me, a non-drinker, I gotta say I bristle at being charged for refills on a diet coke that is fountain-generated, not bottled. No one does that. To find that a soda + 3 refills over the evening added $10 to my meal seems petty and excessive. And there are a lot of things I tolerate in service staff, but my one key rule is "never make it my fault". The bartender tried to defend it saying that some people come and and only order a soda, as if that explains why it's OK to overcharge me. I'd had tacos, soup, and fries (plenty of food, but I ordered extra to have leftovers for another day) so I was NOT the people who were just ordering sodas. Make the policy 'free refills with entrees' if you want, but don't try to justify overcharging me because of someone else's bad behavior as if that is somehow justice. I'm not the keeper of these people who are wanting something cheap, though honestly I bet if they're doing that, they're hurting, and a little compassion isn't a terrible thing if the bar isn't full. But it plays into a worry I always have. As a non-drinker who goes to bar, I always feel imposter syndrome, like I am not supposed to be there at all. I am very self-conscious. Bartender friends have tried to reassure me that they welcome having a few people come in who are the same personality when they arrive as when they depart. But It's hard to shake the imposter thing and this little policy screams "no, you really are an imposter, and we don't want you". Unless there is something really egregious, I tend to try to compensate by ordering food or leaving a tip that honors the fact that I'm ordering something cheaper than others do, that I'm taking up space that what I think of as "paying customers" might take. But the truth is, I make sure I'm paying as much as them and there is not a good reason in the world for me to be treated as some kind of moocher, cheater. And if I'm doing the offsetting, that's MY choice. But if you have a pricing scheme that is not competitive with sodas in every other restaurant in the entire known universe, expect me to care. Also, it very much complicates the social interaction with the bartender, who can't just top off my drink when it's low but has to keep asking if I want "another". I wondered why she didn't just do it but never quite thought to ask and only realized when I saw the bill. I had hoped I would perhaps become a regular here, but I think not. It screams, "please don't come back". I told the bartender and she was not apologetic or sad, just kind of shrugged like fine with her. Margaritas isn't far away and I'm sure wants my business. Guess I'll go there next time.
