It was completely packed even on a Monday morning, which tells you everything you need to know. We stopped by for breakfast and ordered their famous Eggs Benedict along with the breakfast burrito. Both completely lived up to the hype, super fresh, flavorful, and hit the spot. Despite the crowd, the service was fast, friendly, and on point. The outdoor patio setup delivers the ultimate relaxed beach vibe. Absolutely love having this in the neighborhood now. We will definitely be coming back often! read more

This restaurant is located in the Riviera Village. Forget coming here during the weekend without having to wait. Every time I've driven by Martha's, it's crowded and people are waiting for a table on the weekend. That's why I came for breakfast during the week. There were less than a handful of other parties the entire time I was here. I was allowed to choose where to sit. I sat outside on the patio where the tables are not on top of each other, as it is indoors. They have large white umbrellas to block the sun from beating on your face. There are three booths inside on the back, but two of them were occupied by staff who were using them. I ordered an iced Spanish latte that comes with condensed milk and an avocado toast. My drink was absolutely delicious. I've had the avocado toast before at the Martha's in Hermosa Beach. This one was better. Ingredients were fresh. Service was great! I was waited on by two servers. Martha's Hermosa Beach has been a South Bay tradition for decades. It's a fun café right off the beach. Recently, Martha's has opened their new location in Riviera Village, bringing this fun café to Redondo Beach. This new location offers all of the great Americana orientated food that's offered in Hermosa Beach. And, it's all presented with a slightly different atmosphere. This new restaurant has a lot of great outdoor seating. The interior is very well designed, as well. They have a few booths and several tables, if you want to stay out of the elements. One of the main things to know about Martha's is that it is a very popular restaurant. Meaning, it's not unusual that you may have to wait to get a table. This is just something that those customers new to the Martha's experience need to know. Of course, if you come here early in the morning, or on the off hours, it's a lot easier to get a table. This being said, the staff here are always super nice, and there's always a lot of them. So, they do their jobs very well. But, just understand, as a popular café, there may be a little waiting involved. The menu here offers a lot of options. Of course, there's many vegan-orientated choices, as well. You can pretty much go in any direction you want on their menu, from hamburgers, to sandwiches, to salads, to some great breakfast dishes, to a little bit of everything else. Plus, this location has a great drink menu, in association with cocktails, if that's your preference. Overall, this has become probably the most popular restaurant in the Village. This is my favorite brunch spot in South Bay! It's so popular that there's usually a little bit of a wait even when I got there around 10am but it goes by quick. This review is based off my 2nd time at Martha's. Delicioso! Such a fantastic addition to the Riviera Village. My hubby is a pork chop lovahhhh! He had the pork chop, the first time, and got it again. Both times, Chef's kiss. IMO, The best pork chop in South Bay. Cooked perfectly. Not dry at all. The peach gastric is so good. I am obsessed with the Korean baby yam. Wow! Incredible flavor! I got the Catalina salad. Never thought to add dates to a salad and is a game changer of goodness. Aaron at the bar is whipping up some yummy drinks as well. I had the Pear. Not too sweet. A nice summer cocktail. Everything from drinks to food, tastes fresh & light. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. Perfect beach city dinner spot. Martha's will definitely be a staple "go to" for RB locals for many years for sure. I want to update my review and give a couple shout outs! Devin was the host when we went yesterday and he has the best attitude. I know hosting is a really hard job and he looked like he was genuinely having fun and was very welcoming. I also want to shout out Fanny and Carly who helped serve us today. They both gave great recommendations and were timely. We had the Caesar salad, montecristo sandwich, Oreo milkshake, and rosé sangria. They were all fantastic. If you want to be outside this time of year, I recommend bringing some sort of sun covering -- shade is not guaranteed. read more

New location in Redondo Beach The success in Hermosa Beach got them in RB Rivera Village! It use to be Gabi's which I never tried due to high prices. So glad Martha's took over. I had the 2 eggs, Canadian bacon, hash browns with raisin bread $18.90 coffee $4.50 and it was yummy. Hortencia the bartender is friendly and attentive, she even let me do a couple taste tests on the Bloody Mary mix and a pale ale beer. The big difference with this location is their alcohol license, now I can enjoy a Kettle One Bloody Mary with my breakfast. It's clean, roomy with outdoor patio dog friendly seating and new. We are big fans of Martha's in Hermosa and had already eaten breakfast at this new location a couple times and enjoyed it so much we wanted to give dinner a try. We started at the bar with Aaron and he whipped up a few cocktails for our group which were great! Then moved to a porch table which is outside but not street side which was very nice. Tatum our waitress went over the menu with us and shared guests favorites. Our group started off with sliders, they really loved the melted Gorgonzola on the what looked like a brioche bun. Then we had steak frites, Catalina Ave salad topped with chicken which was very yummy. Then an order of the lemony pasta and a side of the broccolini which had dates in it and was delicious. We decided to try a couple desserts, the flourless chocolate cake which was creamy and decadent and then the real show stopper their lemon meringue pie. This was outstanding. We all were pleasantly surprised by the great flavors and creative dishes we had. If there was one thing I could ask for is for a vegetarian protein to add to the salad. At breakfast they offer tofu and a veggie burger, not sure why they can't have a protein for vegetarians at dinner. But other than that we look forward to joining friends at Martha's in the future! Martha's continues to be one of those breakfast spots that earns its reputation. Yes, it's popular, and yes, we waited about 30 minutes for a table. I can't really hold that against them, This was my first visit to the new(ish) RB location. They also make the wait a little easier with a water station and a comfortable area to hang out until your name is called. Once seated, the food absolutely delivered. Our table had the Two Eggs with Meat (crispy bacon is worth the upgrade), the Breakfast Burrito, and the Smoked Salmon Omelet with fresh seasonal fruit. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked exactly as expected. No complaints from anyone at the table. Service was solid from start to finish. A special shoutout to Tony D., who did a great job keeping our table happy and making sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. The only real downside was our table location. We were seated in direct sunlight without an umbrella, and by the end of the meal it was getting pretty warm. A little more shade would have made the experience noticeably better. Overall, great food, good service, and a fun beach-town breakfast vibe. Just be prepared for a wait during busy times, and if you're eating outside, don't be afraid to ask for a shaded table if one's available. I'd happily come back. read more

I was very stoked to have Martha's come to the Riviera and I was not disappointed. Yes, there likely will be a wait for a lunch/brunch time, however it's pretty quick and can walk around Catalina to pass the time. The layout of the restaurant was great. It is expansive, with plenty of tables but did not feel crowded (despite every table being full). The food is on par with the Hermosa location and the service was great! But having eaten at the other location many times - I was rather disappointed when I went for breakfast yesterday(Friday at 9:15). I ordered the vegan omelette - which came with toast and hash browns but you could sub with fruit or cottage cheese. I specifically asked for dry toast - When it came to the table it looked dry - but someone had obviously buttered it, and turned the toast over. And about the bread / toast. When did restaurants start only giving one slice? My girlfriend got the tuna fish sandwich and had asked that no extra mayo be added to the bread. She received an "open faced" sandwich - again, ONE piece of bread for a sandwich, and it too was buttered on the bottom. Now normally, we would have asked for it to be fixed - but we were hungry, and had waited a very long time to even get the attention of our waiter. After sitting there for 15 minutes, we finally inquired as to who our waiter was, since we kept getting passed by. The waitress who came over apologized - but she had waited on the table behind us, with customers that had arrived AFTER we had arrived. Let me preface this review by saying Martha's in Hermosa is one of my all-time favorite breakfast spots and has earned its iconic status. We thought we'd have a slam-dunk great experience at the new Riviera Village location. How wrong we were. In fairness, I get that they are fairly new, and that most of the kids they hired have little to no experience in the service industry. But the only word that comes to mind to describe the service that was (barely) provided is abysmal. We were there on 7-9 around 9:30AM. The guy who was our "waiter" was not only slow, but clueless. Despite being well-intentioned, he had no business being in a customer facing job, and we had to constantly flag down one of the busboys as he would just disappear for long periods of time. Even a routine coffee refill seemed to be a Herculean task for him. We will probably give this Martha's another chance, because the food was ok and the location is delightful. We would hope that management would "circle back" with our "waiter" and provide him with some additional training. Truly, the service here was laughably bad...sorry Martha's but you must do better! read more

Met a friend at this charming place with a nautical vibe for Sunday brunch. It was busy, so she put our name on their list as soon as she arrived. We waited about 15 minutes. Since I need to avoid the sun, they gave us a primo table on the inside, shady porch, which can be a bit cozy. Perused the reasonable menu and ordered the cutely named Cakes & Eggs for $18.50. It was fantastic! The french toast was light, fluffy and tasty, and the scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked. I ordered sausage links, but these meaty discs seemed more like patties. In any case, it was a delicious and ample breakfast. My pal opted for her usual lox and bagels - a bagel & cream cheese ($7.95), and added smoked salmon, tomato, red onion and capers for $18.95 - which she enjoyed. Our sweet male server was kind enough to keep topping up my water so that we could continue to catch up after our meal. Second time at the Riviera location for dinner. They were generous enough to donate a gift card for my organizations silent auction and I instantly bid over value for it. We had the short rib pot pie and the char and while the pot pie was a repeat the char was because I had been dreaming of it since our last visit when my friend ordered it and I had a bite! My family and I had an amazing time eating at the new and improved Martha's! We've gone to the one in Hermosa for years ever since the family that owned it ran it. They use all the same ingredients and recipes as the original location. The food quality is actually better! The staff are very nice and pleasant to be served by. We waited while multiple tables that arrived after us were served first, including breakfast orders. After waiting far too long with no explanation, we left without ever getting to try the food. I know Martha's has a great reputation. I know there is a large menu to choose from so I still have items to try (and I will). Usually the service is great and the area is comfortable for a solo diner. This morning was not spectacular as I I sat for quite a while at 8:40 am before being addressed. The server was apologetic and I can let that go. I have had four different breakfast items. The chorizo scramble, the breakfast burrito were really good. The two omelets I've had sausage, white cheddar and Spanish omelet where pretty flavorless unless the great hot sauces were requested. Also the Chorizo/Sweet potato skillet was difficult to eat as the ratio of chorizo to sweet potato was 10 to one. The Spanish omelet was particularly flavorless and had no Spanish at all. The hash browns were greasy and the squaw bread had little to no toasting. Maybe this was just an off morning and I do plan on returning. I'm not looking to slam the place, just offer some suggestions to help it keep getting better. One last item; I did have dinner there and the dinner rocked. read more

We came on a weekday and got the Huevos Playa. I've had it before at the Hermosa location and thought it was good, really liked the poached egg and runny yolk. Very disappointed when I got it again at the RB location and the supposed to be "poached eggs" was practically FULLY COOKED... Also ordered a side of bacon, shown in picture, it was also basically BURNT ?? If you think that I should've sent it back, it shouldn't even have been served in the first place.. We're not ones to give the server a hard time so I didn't bother send it back, just accepted the disappointment. Didn't enjoy the food, it was just red mush and the veggies in it just tasted off. Sad comparison to the Hermosa location. Staff also seemed all over the place. We asked for a box and check, the check came first and the box was forgotten until our check got picked up. Even the bussers were faster than the service... Got here 10 mins before they opened and was seated immediately, which was a foreshadowing of what was to come. The service was impeccable (I am ashamed to say I forgot the name of our awesome waitress, but she was middle aged, funny, and super attentive). The food was good, the usual burgers and fries variety with some surprising choices (steak frites?!). Everything was really good, and the long island iced teas definitely HIT!
