The Upper Section includes big box stores such as Target, Kohl's, Best Buy and Dick's, along with some smaller scale stores such as Nordstroms Rack, Michaels, and PetSmart. There are a couple of restaurants in the Upper Section, Chili's and TGI Fridays, two places I never visit. The Lower Section has more stores and a few restaurants including LongHorn Steakhouse, Red Robin and Panera Bread. There is a large Barnes and Noble and Blackstone Valley 14 Cinema de Lux. There is also a 110 Grill adjacent to the Cinema. The Cinema and the 110 Grill have their own parking lots. Two new restaurants are under construction in this section, The Yard House and Shake Shack. The Yard House is expected to have a standalone building, evident by the huge construction project taking up a large amount of parking in the Lower Section. During weekends and busy holidays, traffic police are out in force at the Shoppes, in part because there is only one way in and out of this sprawling shopping center. Traffic and parking can be an issue depending on where you want to park during peak periods.

I was bummed because I had a gift card at home and didn't expect to shop the way I did.

Once the Amazon item is returned, Koh's provides a $5 coupon good for a week. When combined with other coupons, such as a 30% off coupon, and then again combined with a sale (buy one package of socks, get the second package for 50% off), a shopper can receive a much better value than purchasing the same items from Amazon, etc. In this case, my items cost $3.50 each, whereas they were selling on Amazon for more than twice that amount. However, if I wasn't already in the store, I would not have bothered. The customer service line was at least 10 people deep, the checkout line was about 20 people with only two registers open, the merchandise displays were a disorganized mess and their wifi went down for a short time (so they couldn't take returns or process purchases). This Macy's is located in a small local mall in Auburn which has seen better, actually much better days. There used to be a Macy's Home store which has been converted to a medical facility and a Sears which still appears to be empty. So it's good that Macy's is hanging on, but a question mark about things to come. Let's finish with a positive. There's always plenty of parking available for Macy's and the rest of the mall!

This is one of two Walmart locations near me, and both feel a bit tired. Items can be hard to locate, and stock levels are inconsistent. On this visit, there weren't many staffed checkout lanes open, and there were only a few self-checkouts open. Once I was able to find an open self-checkout it worked well. As expected, prices are often very competitive, though quality can be hit or miss. Overall, I find Target to be a much better shopping experience than Walmart.

I am a huge fan of T.J. Maxx. The amazing deals are endless. Maxx in Auburn, Massachusetts last evening, Tuesday, May 21, 2025. The young man seemed amiable enough, and that's enough for me. We're not at the Bottega Veneta Boutique in Venice, we're in T.J. Maxx, so "basic" customer service skills are perfectly acceptable. Well, it would appear that young cashier man was incapable of accomplishing even the bare minimum of customer service, and he was not one of the adorable high schoolers there saving for college. This was a whole adult. While cashing out, I was looking to explain one very small detail to him, but he was engaged in deep conversation with his very pretty colleague. I completely understand cashier/player-player, but would it be okay if I explain just one small thing to you? LOL! Well, I thought he was listening, but I guess his head was truly deep in his colleague conversation because he promptly did exactly what I politely asked him not to do. Ugh!!! Then I asked that he please not put my shoes in the bag with my clothing and it would appear that this was a trigger for him as his annoyance was both visible and audible, with him telling me that he could refuse me service and suspend my sale, and to that I responded by saying "please do". It would not have taken a Rocket Scientist to see that he had only one interest at that moment and that was the pretty young lady who he continued to converse with, even while telling me that he didn't have to assist me. Are we serious right now! I unknowingly interrupted your "will you go on a date with me" ritual, and I can't be helped, with my purchase being cancelled. Please T.J. Maxx, that Auburn, Massachusetts is one of the very first, surely you can do better. This was an embarrassing display. Here we have, not one, but two employees who would much rather converse amongst themselves than to assist little old ladies (that would be me). Had there been another cashier available, I would have simply shifted over, problem solved, but he was the only cashier open at the time. I am not one to argue with someone about things that are as unimportant as this, but I have to say that I have never in all of my years been told that I would be refused service. The fact that two whole employees chose to continue a conversation amongst themselves rather than place a bookmark in that conversation to wait on a customer is bewildering at best.

Macy's Home is now a medical facility. Macy's department store is still operating, and like the rest of the mall, it's very quiet. Finding a salesperson or open cash register can be challenging. Most of the food court is closed, I think there are only two food vendors left (Cap't Loui and Tacos Mexico, plus a yogurt counter). However, on the positive side, if you're looking for an EV charger, there are a plethora available at this mall, and it's likely that many if not most will be available. And parking is always a breeze as nobody is ever at the mall!

Attempted to purchase a Halloween t-shirt for my little goblin. The sign on the table clearly said they were $5.00, yet twice I brought one up and twice I was told they were full price. At that point, I said enough and walked out. No thought to customer service at all. Offer me a shirt for the sale price, come take a walk to the display to help me out. Or do nothing and watch me take my business elsewhere.
