Finding a pair of pants is as difficult as finding a customer service person at this Macy's. It doesn't help the mens clothing is broken up by manufacturer. Thus if you're looking for pants for example, you might need to wander into eight different areas in the men's department to look at them. It's a ghost town in this store. Etailers have certainly taken their toll on many if not most brick and mortar venues. It's difficult for them to compete, though when it comes to clothing, it's obviously helpful if you can try them on. This Macy's is located in a small local mall in Auburn which has seen better, actually much better days. There used to be a Macy's Home store which has been converted to a medical facility and a Sears which still appears to be empty. So it's good that Macy's is hanging on, but a question mark about things to come. Let's finish with a positive. Went in to make an exchange for my mom who bought a dress for thanksgiving. She needed a different style and I tried to exchange the first one for a second of lesser value. The rude cashier with a heavy accent told me exchanges were not allowed and the second dress would be a separate purchase. Because my mom and her card were not present because it's an exchange at lesser value, only the difference should have been refunded, not a second transaction where it came from the person running the errand. I don't accept macys charge as payment so now my mom has to pay me back in cash. I can see why this location has a very low rating. Also a guy with a long line did point us in her direction and made a joke about her making the return "if she felt like it", so I know I'm not the first with a problem with her. read more

It's the worst experience I ever have shopping in USA. I went to buy Estée Lauder, the first word the sales spoke to me was"I don't want to lose my job because of you" what!? Excuse me!?! You will lose your job because of me? Why? I can't buy things in Macy's store?! After I asked 2 questions, she said "I told you loudly, I wouldn't sell anything to you today!" Loudly?????? Who gave you this right to treat your customers so rude?????? I can't ask questions? I should know everything before shopping? Because I'm Chinese? So you treated me this way? Store is deserted and that's with 30% off on many items. Here is one reason: In men's shirts. Can't find a white dress shirt with French cuffs. Ask sales clerk and she tells me that she doesn't know what I mean. Tell her cuff links. She tells me the various brands. She's just reading the signs to me. "we have some short sleeves". Her exact words!! I tell her I will need long sleeves for the French cuffs. "I'm not certain we have that". Never mind. I leave. Hey Macy's execs, you really wonder why your stores are circling the drain? Train your employees before you place them in a department. I was very frustrated with the service of Macy's. There was an advertisement that (name) was on sale that said it was 50% off, but when I went to pay for it, the cashier said it was only 25% off. The cashier and I went to the rack where the clothes were found with all the same pieces of clothing 50% off. She pulled out the tag that said 50% off and replaced it with a 25% off. The cashier said "you don't like the price, return it". The customer service of that cashier was very unprofessional, and then she complained about me to another employee. read more

This is quite possibly the worst Macy's I have ever visited. It is situated in the terrible Auburn Mall and the setup and the staff reflect how bad this store is. The men's departments contains an awful selection and the brand names look like they cater to the area, which is not the best. Skip this location and drive 30 minutes east to hit the one in Natick. This is a very nice and well organized store in the Auburn mall and the sales person I dealt with (bill) was a very nice and very usefull employee who helped me pick out a suit for my cousins wedding.. If you open up a macys rewards card you save alot of money as well.. The prices are kind of expensive but its really good quality clothing... and then if you need any houseware they have a really big selection there too. read more

Went to buy cologne, the people at the counter are to aggressive and geared towards you purchasing THE brand they represent. Seems like each person represented a certain brand. Found a new scent, but my nose was burning when I left. Prices were reasonable on clothes, cologne was over priced. read more

Very messy. Disappointed in the appearance and lack of organization of the clothes. They false advertise and put multiple dresses on clearance and when they rang them out said they weren't on sale. The workers were not a help. False advertising is not a way to keep customers. read more

On Monday, Dec. 5 I went to the men's department of the Auburn Macy's to exchange 3 pair of men's pants. I was hoping to get the same pants (2 dress slacks and a pair of jeans) in a different size. As I approached the customer service counter I was greeted by Canaan. When I explained what I was hoping to accomplish and that I had recently injured my knee and was hoping not to have to walk too much that day, Canaan quickly offered to help me locate the racks that might hold exactly the item I was looking for. We both spent some time searching for the exact size I needed which ended in success! One pair of the dress slacks were not carried at this particular Macy's but Canaan took the time to research and order them on Line for me and had them sent to my home with no postage charges. As I ambled back to the customer service counter he raced to another section to find the jeans for me. This whole process took approximately 30-40 min. The entire time Canaan remained cheerful, pleasant and helpful. At no time did he hint that it was too busy for him to take this time with me or that my transaction was an unwelcome imposition. While Canaan was busy with me, the other customer service rep at that counter, Susana, had a steady line of customers making purchases. She clearly was 'picking up the slack' due to Canaan not being available to help with the routine purchases. She, too, remained pleasant, cheerful and professional with the customers and at no time hinted that Canaan should 'hurry it up' with me and start helping her more. I was very impressed, and appreciative, of this good old fashioned customer service that was exhibited by both these employees. read more

I have to write negative reviews about this Macy's store. I ordered from online twice and went to this store for pick up. It was a nightmare. The associates directed me to wrong place again and again. No one knew where the pick up place is but they were so sure to tell you to ask another associate. I waited for 30 min in line for one associate to talk to me. But she told me to move to another help desk. For the second time, after being told to going upstairs and then downstairs and then upstairs again, I asked to talk to the managers or supervisor. A middle aged woman showed up without any greetings or apologies. No smile either. She just wanted me to finish transaction and get the hell out with the item. I mentioned to her that target, staples and kolhs have pick up places at the entrance. She just said oh really. In a very indifferent way. They really don't care about customer care. Also it was difficult to find parking on the way back. Not a convenient place for shopping at all. read more

Macy's HOME STORE: I used to really enjoy Macy's Auburn. NOT TODAY. The clerk messed up the transaction. I asked that a manager come to review the transaction to be sure my credit card was not charged twice. After a LONG wait, she showed up and showed me 'the cancellation'. I left. On my way back to work, the clerk called and said indeed my card was twice and that I needed to come back! (I'm steamed by now!) So I take more time from work, go back, fix the transaction AND ask for a gift certificate for my trouble. The make me WAIT ANOTHER 15 minutes, hoping I'd leave because they took sooooo LONG. NEVER AGAIN will I use the Auburn Macy's store.....Customer Service? NonEXISTENT! Oh it gets even better! Today I tried to use the gift certificate the Store Mgr. gave me to purchase some towels on line. NOT. Come to find out the certificate is good ONLY in the store that gave me such LOUSY service.
