TJ Maxx is a store that you never you what you will get out of it. In this specific area, there have been lots of changes with TJ Maxx recently. The former Hudson location closed and opened here, and the Westborough location also closed and re opened in the new development in Northborough.
This specific location was amazing when it opened, but since, it's not been as great. Nothing horrible, but it seems to need an overhaul in merchandise. Everything is picked over and they don't have as much as the large space would suggest. In the men's section, there was lots of empty shelves and too much room on some of the rounders with hangers. Nothing that great or really worth buying. I come to TJ Maxx to score the great deals... this location just didn't fit that need, clothing wise.
However, home goods section and clearance is a different story. While they don't have as much home stuff as a store like HomeGoods (duh!), this specific TJ Maxx location does have a decent variety and fully stocked shelves with sparkling merchandise to accompany. A lot was on clearance (with red tags) when I came a few months ago, so that was a nice surprise.
And while the men's section is in desperation for new and upcoming merchandise, the clearance section isn't! It's fully loaded! In the far back corner of the store is an aisle of clearance that is filled with all sorts of stuff. Sure, most of it isn't useful, but that's what I love about TJ Maxx. Finding things I never knew existed and finding the "gems" throughout the "rubbish".
Staff were friendly, and even though the store was busy, there was no line. Nice.
Need some work in the men's department, but otherwise, this is a pretty decent TJ Maxx. To give them the better of the doubt, 4 stars. read more
