WOW! I'm middle eastern and grew up eating Mediterranean food daily and this place WOW'd me. The chicken shawarma has so much flavor and is so tender it melts in your mouth. My husband got the lamb shank and said it was a must and it just falls off the bone it's so tender. They come with rice, a small salad, pita and hummus. Everything was so good. First, my husband loved his chicken dish, giving it a 9 of 10. I am a vegan and my order (several sides) was not as good. We went around noon, shortly after the restaurant first opened. My rice was cold and the food, on the whole, was rather bland. It would have benefited from some salt and some fat (oil). And the yellow rice, which I presume was meant to be saffron rice, did not have the lovely perfume of saffron. It appeared to have been made with tumeric to achieve the yellow color. On the plus side: I ordered falafel and it was REALLY GOOD; however, it was not served with tahini. I would have had to purchase it separately. So...I will go back for falafel but will have the other dishes at other tried and true establishments. The total was near 50 dollars and there was no silverware and I had water, so the place isn't inexpensive. The owner was pleasant and very helpful but I have had better eggplant, chickpeas and green beans at festivals in the surrounding greater Metro Atlanta area. read more

My wife and I have been going to them in East Atlanta at the Sunday Farmer's Market for quite some time and now that they have a physical permanent location inside of Colony Square at Politan Row you have to go!! Stopped by here on a whim although I had originally planned to go the pizza place nearby. Moroccan food sounded like a better plan and it did NOT disappoint! I had the chicken shawarma bowl and it was DELICIOUS! The flavors were impeccable *chef's kiss*, the portion was generous and the meal left me full without feeling heavy. We arrived just before closing and figured we'd just grab whatever they had to go so they could get on with their evening. The owners were so accommodating and welcoming. They actually brought out the food and we dined in. The lamb shank was one of the best meals I've had this year and everything is made with love from very authentic recipes. Chef Amal is the sweetest, and her food is incredible. I usually stop by the Piedmont Green Market to get a breakfast pita wrap from her on the way to tennis (tip: add the harissa!), but am always happy to find new locations where Marrakech is popping up. The food is so flavorful -- I love the Tanjiya (a savory, garlicky-cumin-lemon chicken dish), and the baba ghanoush is also incredible. Chef Amal knows what she's DOING. Sadly she is only at the EAV food hall on Friday during lunch currently, but I am so glad we stopped in randomly for lunch on a Friday. We had no particular plans for what food to get, and after she offered a sample of her eggplant, we knew we needed more! We had an veggie plate and a chicken plate. Each comes with the main stewed item, some rice, green beans, hummus and pita, and some of her homemade hot sauce. Do not forego the hot sauce, it is the perfect amount of spicy and so full of flavor! If you're not a spice lord though no worries, her food is incredible with or without the hot sauce. The chicken was so tender, it was falling apart under my fork, and I felt so nourished. The green beans are amazing and so is the eggplant. If I wasn't typically working on Fridays I'd be here every week and I can tell she has quite a few regulars. read more

I just want to say... THIS PLACE SLAPS HARD. Every Tuesday, they come down to Emory University for our Farmers Market and you can bet I will be there to order. Every week, I always got to Snapchat how amazing and tasty this place is. This is an amazing Moroccan/Mediterranean food. For only 6$, I can get either the chicken shawarma or chicken tanjiya (Chicken slow cooked the Marrakech way with preserved lemons, & Moroccan spices.) I tried almost everything here, but those two have been my to-go. It comes with a fresh salad in dressing, and I always ask to get it spicy with that special sauce. The best highlight of this restaurant are the people. They are honestly genuinely nice people who work hard. The owners treat their food and customers like family and they work hard to uphold the standards of authenticity in their cooking. Once you try this place, you can tell its just good olde fashion home cooking just like momma and dadda used to do. Their spices come directly from Morocco and everything is prepared and made here in Atlanta. An amazing humble backstory and amazing food for a great price. What more can I say? I was very disappointed... ... that I never tried chef Amal's food before in my 6+ years of living in Atlanta. I would have posted pictures of the food but my friend and I literally cleared everything on our plates because the food was so good. Definitely try everything on the menu but my personal favorites were the Chicken & Lamb Tangia, the eggplant dish & side (forgot the name :o), the chicken shawarma wrap, and their hummus. So basically try everything on their menu as you will not be disappointed. Their portions are very hearty as well!! Rarely do I post reviews for food but I would be doing Atlantans a disservice by not raving about Marrakech Express. There is a dearth of food spots like this around here and I will 100% be back to try everything on the menu, again. I. LOVE. THIS. PLACE. This is a small place run by a very nice woman and a few helpers. It can be found in the We Suki Suki complex. I recommend coming with a friend or two and sharing a bunch of food from all the different stalls including this one. On Tuesdays, you can find the owner serving the same food at the Farmers Market at Emory. Wherever she is, she always has a smile. The food here is soo good. My personal favorite is the chicken tanjiya, but I've also enjoyed other things on the menu. The first time I ate this I was blown away. Legit was already planning my next time buying this meal. The spices are great and nothing like I've had before, the rice is well cooked and seasoned, and the white and spicy sauce on top really add a nice touch. But most importantly, THIS CHICKEN. Wow. It is fork tender--just touch it and it falls apart. It's so perfectly cooked and seasoned that I think it's one of the best chicken dishes I've had in awhile. In addition, it's a huge amount of food for $8 and could easily be split into two meals if you get a combo with hummus and pita. Definitely one of my favorite places in Atlanta, so come! read more

Sometimes in life there are bad days, what we chose to do on those bad days is usually up to us. If you happen to be having a bad I would suggest coming to this place and getting something to eat. Parking is hard unless you are familiar with the area and you probably know some good free places to park. Or your like me and you will be sweating while you eat in hopes of not getting booted the entire time. So yeah its not fancy, its in a food court/ hall sort of setting, there are picnic table, you might have to sit next to someone you don't know! Overall its a experience everyone should have at least once. The Food: Mediterranean food is a perfect balance of things we should all eat in its most natural form. Grilled meat, Salad, Beans, bread, I mean really this is the food that we should all have been eating all along. I ordered the chicken swarma bowl and a mint tea. The bowl has everything you could ask for, Meat, greens, beans, hummus and rice. Best of all the two ladies who run the business seem like they really care about the food and the customers. Overall...so delicious!! Service: just the sweetest ladies behind the counter! They were helpful explaining the dishes and helping us decide what to get. It's a small family owned stand that treat you as family Food: I honestly didn't have any plans on eating here. I came to check out Mushi Ni but they were closed. So since we made the drive down, we walked around the small food court and contemplated what to eat for lunch. We got the Chicken Shwarma bowl since we saw it came loaded with veggies, and I LOVE veggies. It was white meat chicken that was perfectly seasoned/not dried out at all! (and they give you a huge amount.) Included in the bowl is some sautéed beets, spicy green beans, a salad, chicken, cucumber/tomato salad, a dollop of hummus, and a small scoop of hot sauce. You get a lot for what you pay. 5/5 - I ended up loving the chicken shwarma more than I thought I would! It was so filling and delicious! I will definitely be back **if you check in you get a code for a free drink with your entree. I forget what it was but the tea they offer is a nice sweet floral tasting drink! About parking, I've never had any issues parking on Flat Shoals Avenue SE. II. FOOD & DRINK: They have a limited menu consisting of the Nabati Plate (Vegetarian) and Meatball Tagine. I tried the latter ($6). *Meatball Tagine: They seasoned meatballs with green peppers, onions, and this deliciousness sits on top of basmati rice. It's accompanied by both a green salad and a liquor sauce. The portions could serve as two meals, and I thought the flavors worked well together. I could eat these meatballs every week, honestly. For dessert, they offer baklava. They offer Kahwa (Morrocan spiced ice coffee), Moroccan mint ice tea, water, and soda to wash everything down. I got a piece of pita and a drink, for an additional $2. III. SERVICE: I visited during a peak lunch hour and found the service to be exceptionally fast. IV. AMBIANCE & DECOR: The Global Grub Collective has picnic table seating, and this food hall feels tight. V. PRICES: My entire meal set me back only $8 (and I tipped $3). If you haven't had the lamb shank here, then you haven't lived. Everything here is good but that lamb shank is amazing. Tender, fall of the bone meat that is well-seasoned and very generously portioned. Not only do you get this giant piece of meat but also included is yellow rice, hummus and pita, and a little side salad. I easily get two meals out of this.
