    Rice and a bone
    J H.

I went here today to get supa kanja. While I was there 2 gentleman invited to over to share what they were eating. They had rice with some type of lamb. The piece of lamb they had was meaty and good looking. They offered to buy me the same plate they had so I can have my own. The cook brought mine out and he gave me rice with a bone with hardly any meat on it. When I tried to bring it to his attention he acted as if he didn't understand. I will not be back here for that reason!

This is a little gem of a restaurant! Was a little skeptical as we walked in for dinner on a Friday night and the place wasn't booming. Looks like a family business, the man who greeted and sat us also took our order and prepared our meals. I chose the Lamb stew dish and my boyfriend the Curry Goat. We were both amazed at the savory flavors. Both of the dishes were delicious with tender meat and plenty of spices. The goat dish is a little spicy, and served with a savory rice. We also ordered their home-made sorrel juice, which was also amazing. The service was very good and quick, place was neat and clean with a quiet atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back and placed this on our favorites list! Highly recommend!

I had a hankering for African food, so we drove 35 minutes to one that was opened on Sunday. I called prior to going because I knew I wanted egusi with jollaf rice and my friend wanted fufu with chicken. There were soooo many red flags that warned me to RUNNN! When we arrived at the restaurant no one was present and by the time the lady came out I stated that I called previously and she said your food is ready?!?? Mind you I didn't place an order; only inquired if they served the dishes I wanted. We placed our orders and we waited... and waited... and waited.... As we were engulfed in our conversation we lost track of time but did ask for a cup to taste the juice that was recommended Sorrel & pineapple ginger; which were good. Had to ask for cups again & she grabbed two red cups from under the counter and said they were dirty?!?! So we're keeping dirty cups under the counter? So after some time past we hear her tell someone through the kitchen window to wash/sanitize the cups and we were eventually given two wet cups that were sticky and had stains on them! Fast forward to our food finally arriving... nothing was good! The Egusi was fishy and had a lot of meat that I didn't ask for, and on top of that it was $20! I asked for jollaf rice and immediately realized that the rice looked funny. When the lady asked me why I didn't eat much of my food I explained it was not what I expected and the rice was hard. This is when she decided to give a lesson in different parts of Africa the way the food is prepared varies. She then told me I had cous cous and not the rice I requested. It was my birthday weekend so my friend was treating me to lunch & that's when we were told our meal was $74?!?! Mind you we left 85% of the food on the table and refused to go containers because why? I will say the two guys said their meal was awesome, and I asked another customer about her order & she stated that they had excellent peanut soup. I'm glad they enjoyed their food and it was an expensive lesson to learn. I will not return.

When I find a place that authentically represents their homeland, it elicits a level of respect. It's an honor to share your culture. My tastebuds were taken on a journey of savory indulgence. Thank you for sharing.

Great Senegalese restaurant. At first restaurant looks plain but the food makes up for the ambiance. Most people prefer to take out or delivery service. Food was delicious and customer service was friendly. Come hungry, portions are large. Also come earlier in the day. This is a family restaurant. They make a certain amount for each dish and by the evening, some of the items on the menu have been sold out. I highly recommend.

Large oxtail plate...amazing flavor and perfect texture

I ordered the fish yassa, ginger juice, and an oxtail plate to go. I also had a very delicious appetizer that I can't remember the name of, but it was basically like some kind of spring roll with beef and shrimp. Everything was absolutely amazing. The flavors were so fresh and authentic. The ginger juice is definitely a must try if you're a ginger fan like me. They're not stingy at all on the ginger, so much I was able to dilute it when I got home to make a whole other drink. The staff was very polite and helpful, even though I arrived a few minutes before closing and had no idea what I wanted. They didn't rush me, and even welcomed me to sit down as they helped guide me through the menu with great detail. I can't wait to go back.

I was told to cancel the order bc chum wasn't going to make the order.

I've order food here in the past and built an awesome relationship with the owner and her son Mohammed. It really hurts that I have to write such poor review when I fallen in love with the owner her son Mohammed and their food. But I wanted to share this experience with you to give you the fair chance in knowing that this could happen to you as well. However today I called to place an order via phone and request delivery through the business. A gentleman by the name of Cham answered the phone and stated that they do not do delivery and then I would have to go online and place the order through GrubHub. And then did just that went online and place the order through GrubHub. After some time I called to confirm that the order was placed and will be delivered. The gentleman by the name of Cheung answered the phone and stated that the prices that were showing on GrubHub were incorrect they were no longer 1599 but instead they were $22. He then requested that I call GrubHub and canceled the order and stated that he would not be making the order that I need it to go to DoorDash and place the order again I advised him that I was back on the website and the only other option to place the order was through GrubHub and that there was no option to place the order through DoorDash. He then started laughing and said that he was not placing the order. I didn't confirmed so you're not going to make the order for me he stated no. This is very disappointing considering the fact that I have recommended this place to so many of my friends and I've enjoyed going through the menu to try different cuisines my daughter and I have found a love for African cuisines and throughout the month we've been trying different dishes sometimes ordering more than one dish at a time each time I've ordered those specific African cuisines they've been about the same price $15. So for this to be the case is very saddening although that gentleman was not there when I placed the order the first couple of times and he did mention that the owner wasn't there today it makes me feel like I never wanna go back and also I want to advise everyone of this experience. This is an OK and it's not fair. It's not the customers fault that you did not change the prices reflecting on GrubHub or any other delivery sites. Then to say that he's not going to make the order when my $30 won't be refunded I'm not really understanding was happening. So order from them or don't but I wanted to share this experience with everyone so that you have a fair chance and know that this may or may not happen to you.

Thieb Djen... Beautifully presented... God sooooo yummyyyy
    Emilie L.

Kiné is just a sweet owner and loves what she does. She handles business and the food is hands down the best in the area and very much affordable. I go once in a while and when I go it never disappoints. My go to order is the Thieb djen... I've tried the dibi from a sister of mine and that too was good. I will always recommend this place to all my African peeps. Thank you for letting us have a little taste of Senegal. Bisous!!

The pounded yam was smooth and not too thick. I had fun scooping up the Egusi in the Fufu with my hands. Both together was an enjoyable flavor and texture combo. The Beef Suya was good as well, a nice meat appetizer. The beef was cooked well done which some people may not like, but I enjoyed it since I grew up eating my steak that way. It paired very well with the spice blend and raw onions. I also had the Ghanaian Jollof Rice and that was not my most favorite dish due to the flavor. Not my cup of tea, but the rice was cooked well. I also liked the side plantains. The interior is nicely ornate and comfy. The service here was also super great and my assigned server was very personable. I genuinely enjoyed my conversation with her and she did well giving me recommendations and directions as a first timer for this type of food. Overall, I had a great experience here and would come back again!

Ike's…read morewas in the area the three of us were hanging out at, so I was looking forward to venture outside my normal restaurant. Setting / Service: We had came in about 10-15 minutes after they had just opened, so it felt like we were the first customers by the way the wait staff was missing. The host had told us sit at any table and we would have a staff member come swing by. We waited about 5-10 minutes before our waitress had came by and asked us if we were ready to order. Mind you - we were not given a food menu or told about the QR code that looked like it was barely hanging on the table beforehand. Food order took a little longer than expected. Table that was sat after us got their full lunch order before our soup came out. Felt little weird about that. The occasional check-ins from the waitress was welcomed. Food: Hunter's Platter was a overcooked or charred. The beef was well done at minimum. Some of the other meat pieces that contained bone were so overcooked that it was tougher than jerky and the bones themselves began to break off into sharp ends / mistaken as meat due to how brittle they became. For it to be priced at 'Market Value' and not have a actual charge was a bit odd to me. It came out to be near $60 for those wondering. Sweet potato soup with plantain fufu was good. We had ordered the mixed meat version, but it only contain one piece of each meat. It was borderline room temp by the time it got to our table. We had also ordered a few other items that were pretty enjoyable. Pleasant additions to a couple first timers who wanted to taste the menu. Overall: I'd say that the experience here was pretty okay to the point we had gotten the meal tab. It was a bit peculiar that our waitress had dropped off the credit card machine to the table for us after handing her my card. It was then I noticed on the machine "Additional Tip". Puzzled, I looked back at the check and noticed she had applied auto-gratuity. Yes, I would have given a tip. I would have given more than the auto applied tip, but it was context that made the entire situation foul. She applied auto tip, dropped the machine off, and just 'disappeared' until we left the table at which she muttered words as she walked past us while looking down to the floor.

I later found out his drink was not an actual beer, but some kind of mixture of alcohol flavored with African herbs and fruits. We took a small taste of each other's drinks. Mine tasted like a standard lager, really. We reviewed the menu and I described what I had a taste for. My friend suggested that I get the Jollof Rice with Chicken, and that's what I ordered. He ordered the Pounded Yam with Egusi soup. My food came out quickly. My friend's order took longer than expected, but he told me to go ahead and start eating, so I did not wait. While we enjoyed lunch, we listened to some good, authentic Afrobeats music in the background. I even Shazamed a couple of songs while we were sitting there. They also had an area set up with an Instagramable photo wall and a DJ booth. The restaurant itself was very clean and they also had a full bar. The best part of the meal was probably the seasonings they have sitting on the side of the counter where you order. I do not really know who works there. First there was a lady, then there was this kid, but the kid was sitting in the lounge when I first walked in and stood there for about 5 minutes at the bar before the lady in the back who was having a conversation with the lady who makes the food I guess came from behind and walked around to the register. Their menu has absolutely no pricing. I had the peanut butter soup, which was good, but a little disappointing because the majority of the meat was nothing but fat, and there was not that much meat in it honestly. The potato that was in it literally looked like that had just cut it in two and threw it in the soup. It was good, and not that bad portion wise, but if I had known it was almost $20 I probably would have gotten something else. I was hoping to try the hookah while I waited, but evidently all of the hookahs were in need of maintenance, so that was a bust. Would like to go back in the future, maybe when they have a crowd of people or something, but overall I was disappointed.
