If you're looking for authentic Ethiopian cuisine this is your spot!! So glad Chef Ali just opened his resturant in the south terminal food hall located right in downtown ATL. Ruki's Kitchen is delicious omg I already can't wait to go back. Steak tebs w/cabbage & chicken tebs w/lentils, both 10/10. Everything seasoned to perfection you can tell these use fresh ingredients. The lentils were so good and I usually don't prefer them. The sautéed onions and peppers are my favorite part they go so good with the meat. So flavorful Lastly those wings are to die for!! I promise you will not be dissapointed if you check this spot out. Thank me later

Ok so, I've had Ruki's as a favorite in my maps and expected a awesome experience, especially because they have 5 's on Google. My friend and I noticed a few red flags but nothing too crazy. The owner is young so I hope for more success in his favor. I wish they had the beer that was advertised on their Google page but their wings and wing sauce was really good. We both order the Sega tibs and cabbage which was a 7/10 for me. I'll prob go again for the wings. They also had good music playing. All in all I rate my experience a 6/10.

Went to check out Ruki's Kitchen last night during their soft opening. We got the Steak Tibs with Collards and a veggie plate with all four sides. Everything was very tasty and the injera bread was especially soft and tasty. Service was great and food came out quickly!

Ruki's is no longer at the Church street location, but they are doing pop ups at various establishments until their permanent location opens. I found out through social media that they would be at a brewery not too far from me and decided to stop by. I arrived at Sceptre Brewery Arts in Eastlake and placed my order at the bar. I had no idea they had a full bar and will have to stop back by to check them out. I ordered sega tibs with gomen and a side of turmeric basmati rice. I picked up my food from the owner of Ruki's and he was very pleasant. The food smelled SO good and it was hard not to dig in before I got home. The food was exceptional and flavored to perfection. I've only had Ethiopian food a handful of times before this, but this may be the best I've ever had. I enjoyed the food so much and look forward to trying more dishes from them.

Great customer service! Just discovered this EAV hidden gem, while walking on Flat Shoals. The restaurant is located in a co-op type of set up with multiple cuisines, bench table, seating, and artwork throughout. The current offerings were from Ruki's Ethiopian, a vendor with poke bowls and adjacent Mexican restaurant. I selected the Sega tibs combo with a side of Mesir (red lentils), and also ordered the vegetarian meal which included 4 vegetables. I chose more Mesir (red lentils - love them), Gomen (collard greens), Tikel, (cabbage and potatoes) & Fitfit (Njeri based - see menu for details). Sega consisted of beef cubes, a plethora of onions and delicious spices. Everything was excellent. Prepared to order, which allowed for observation of art work priced for sale and other vendors. The set up is small, but works for to go or dine in. Also enjoyed learning the backstory from the chef, who named restaurant after his mother. I also had the pleasure of seeing true kindness in action as the chef gave a coat and hat to a housing challenged man, on one of the coldest days in November.

Phenomenal I've had quite a few great Ethiopian food experiences here in the Atlanta area but let me tell y'all bout Ruki's!!! I knew it was going to be good off the bat because the injera had such a rich dark color (doesn't look as dark in the pics) which let me know it was straight up teff and not watered down. Many of the other Ethiopian restaurants I've been to water down or mix in other flours to make the injera more palatable to the American palette or because it's cheaper, but not Ruki's! And I so appreciate that. Don't water anything down either you can take it or can't. So anyways yea the injera was everything and I ended up ordering the vegetarian plate, which came with gomen (collard greens), cabbage and some lentils. I just wrote a whole paragraph about the injera lmaooo so you know the accompanying food was banging! Top notch, the best Ethiopian food I've had in a while! Ruki's is currently operating as a pop-up so be sure to check their Ig @rukiskitchenatl to see when and where they will be. Even as a pop up service was great. Both server and owner came out to help and inquire about the food. I am 100% a fan and will continue to support them as they grow and expand as long as they don't compromise on that flavor!

I checked them out at breaker breaker when they had an all June Monday night popup. We stumbled upon it and tried their dry and wet chicken wings. Both were cooked to perfection, crunchy and paired with a super nice spicy sauce. I loved their dry wings with Ethiopian spice. Do try it!

So glad to have some legit Ethiopian around Atlanta. Makes me miss DC! Perfect little spot inside the We Suki Suki foodhall. The chef was super kind and will prepare it to your desired spice level. Went with a bud and split a steak tibs dish with lentils + the four veggies dish. Excellent injera and super filling portions. Will be back here multiple times.

The food and service were both outstanding. The owner personally came over to our table to thank us for dining at his establishment and get feedback on his cuisine. This is authentic Ethiopian food and I will definitely recommend this restaurant to friends and family

I really enjoyed my meal. The vegetables were fresh and the chicken was delicious. I had tried Ethiopian before at one of ATL's most popular spots...and didn't really care for it. I decided to try it again given that Ruki's is in my neighborhood and was pleasantly surprised. Highly recommend! For any of you afraid of heat, you can request mild!

The food was absolutely bomb, the shrimp and beef tips burst with flavor and this Native Ethiopian food in EAV is sure to please!

Food and service is top tier, the owner is is super cool and wants to give you an authentic experience in the middle of EAV! Come thru for top tier food!

    Chicken tips

Love, love, loveeeeee this spot!!! I had the chicken tips first and my tastebuds went into overload!! The flavors were so mouthwatering and delicious!! The collards and rice were the perfect sides with the meal. I also tried the Injera, which was very good, and I could tell it was authentic; best I've had ever! I also tried the shrimp tips and LISTEN, 10/10 would highly recommend! Let's just say it's now my favorite!!! It's only available on Fridays and Saturdays, and it sells out so quickly, which makes sense!! I love the fact that it's in the heart of EAV! Ali's great and the customer service is superb! I'll definitely be returning to get my East African fix!

The food is authentic, fresh and flavorful, and the portions are massive. We had a group of 20 and they were able to host us in their back room. The place is massive with seating up front but also lots of seating in the back. They even have a little gift shop market in the back too where you can buy stuff. It's a really great place for large parties with incredible, attentive service. They gave us some push buttons to press too so we were always attended to when we needed anything. 6 of us split the vegan platter 2, doro wok, and dereq tibs. It was my first time having doro wok and I will be ordering it every time I come now. Absolutely delicious! Splitting these three items was the perfect portion with all of us finishing the meal feeling full. The vegan platter 2 says it feeds 2 people but it's more like 4 people. The portions truly are big and the injera helps fill you up. Including some drinks, the total only came out to $20 each with tax and tip. I was very pleasantly surprised. Amazing food with large portions at an amazing price!

The menu had several dishes we've had at other Ethiopian restaurants, so we ordered familiar items to compare. We went with the Bahel 1 Combo and chose chicken tibs, doro wot, shiro, gomen, and yellow lentils. The food was ok. The Doro Wot had a sweeter taste than I'm used to, but it was decent, and the Chicken Tibs had a strong tomato flavor (not 100% sure it was tomato, but that's what came through), which didn't really work for me. The Shiro was excellent, though. I could've eaten that with some injera all by itself. Overall, the experience was pleasant and the service was welcoming, but flavor-wise it didn't quite hit enough for us to make it our go-to spot when we're craving Ethiopian food.

To start, the space is nice, spacious, clean, and thoughtfully decorated. Dark wood tones, colorful artwork, scenic landscape screensavers on the TV screens near the bar, and Ethiopian music pumping through the speakers (but not so loud that you can't hear the people you're with). The staff is also so sweet with great energy. There's a full bar with great drink prices, and I still need to try the honey wine. One thing to note is that the food is made to order and does take a little time (like 20 minutes or so), but when you dig in and start eating you understand why. I will wait every time, no problem. My favorite dish is the Fish Dullet and my favorite side is the brown lentils. My partner gets the Awaze pretty much every time. This amazing restaurant located within proximity of the airport is truly a gem in the Metro Atlanta area. The exterior is well lit and encompasses a wraparound porch that has ample space to potentially host a party. Not sure of their outdoor intentions as it was fairly cool when I visited, and look forward to checking out again in the warmer months. Parking is available at no cost, with ADA compliant entry. From the moment I entered, I was impressed with the art in various forms throughout the restaurant. This include included pictures, sculptures, and even a traditional Ethiopian coffee set up. Our party was fairly large and sat to the right of the entrance where tables were pushed together to form one table with chairs on one side and bench on the opposite. I did notice that the other areas had tables that were spaced in the very larger room, as well as a bar area with television and would appear to be an area for music/Dj set up. The food was amazing as well. Amazing is the word of the day regarding ballet! I ordered the Bole Awaze Tims signature platter with lamb, other meat options were available. I also ordered the Timatim fitfit salad, a side of beets and had the hot spice tea as my beverage. The portions were ample and included a basket of njeri, the traditional spongy accompaniment used to eat the contents of your meal. The Timatim salad was extremely good, and a meal in itself. My food was seasoned well, and I enjoyed each and every bite! My tea was delicious too! A traditional us brand teabag was placed on the side for addition, but not necessary at all. The spices which I believe included cardamom were more than sufficient and truly warmed me adequately. Despite having an a large party, our server managed all orders like a champion, and made sure that no one had to guess on menu selections. She provided information in educated in the process. The overall vibe was that everyone was impressed and enjoyed their meals. As previously mentioned, I look forward to returning to share the extremely personable ambience and great food selections with others. Definitely a great location to celebrate a special occasion or for a delicious meal with a long layover.

I learned to appreciate the tibs, awaze for spice, and shiro along with injera. But if Desta is an entrance to this food, Kategna is the next level up. The storefront itself is humble and tucked away out of sight on Buford Highway. Right upon entering, I smelled burning incense to queue me in that this was different than even my previous experiences. There was booths and small tables. I think you could do a larger party but it'd been to be spread out. It's best for parties of 4. The decor is well loved and there's a counter up front where you can go and pay when you are done. For lunch, they have specials but I decided tk get a Kategna injera as an appetizer and then Yetebaberut (spiced ground beef). Speaking with the waitress running the front of the store, I decide to play it safe and go medium spice and medium for how cooked the beef is. Kategna injera - this is life changing. I enjoy injera but an injera fried in a pan so it's crispy and flaky in different parts and coated in awaze? Wow. This will pretty much be my go to dish every time I come in the store and I will recommend it to anyone I bring. This was so incredibly delicious that I know my words are failing to convey just how good this is. Get it if you are in the store. Yetebaberut - delicious.
